Every time youre saying you did something else back in the day that sounds absurd. I built night clubs worked IT owned a wrap shop trained elephants scuba dove with navy seals etc... You belong in the dos equis commercial.
This is the type of quality content that keeps me coming back: precision cuts by guys who's steady hands haven't been ruined by alcoholic dt's and marriage-related anxiety.
Lexus as a company is the most amazing car company I've ever dealt with. The techs are awesome, the parts are not over priced... usually, the reliability is obviously beyond anything else on the road. I love my lexus so much. I've had so so many cars and by far this is my favorite car and so much so we tried to get my wife one but settled for 2nd best..a camry lol. We will get her a lexus next time lol. Or she can have Mine when I upgrade one day in the distant future. We love ❤ lexus. And wouldn't trade it for anything else
Genuine question (not trying to troll or anything), but do you find yourselves underwhelmed by Lexus dashboards? Having test driven and debated amongst a lot of cars, I find that while the exterior of something like the IS or ES is visually impressive, on the inside I find it cluttered with buttons and the joystick-touchpad system just seems a bit subpar. And having driven a Camry for a while, I get a bit annoyed seeing cheaper bits of pieces of the car like the cruise control stalk or window switches and trim just lifted off a Camry half the price. IMO a top trim Camry (called SL here in Australia, probably XLE in US, iirc) feels like good value in the mainstream but in the luxury car space, I don’t think I’d tolerate the same interior parts or a worse infotainment system than the Toyota touchscreen. I find the G20 3 Series to feel or W206 Benz to look more impressive, respectively. Not to mention cars like Mazda (I have the new Mazda3), that I feel outdo both Toyota and Lexus in infotainment and I’d say is closer to Lexus in interior quality despite being priced like a Toyota. They’re still great cars and I toss up all these options whenever it’s time to upgrade - the only thing being that near-luxury cars are far more limited here than in North Am, we don’t have Acura, Infiniti, Buick, Cadillac, Lincoln as alternate options.
Lol 1700$ for 2019 ES300h amp... 3 weeks past extended service bulletin so have to replace it out of pocket even though the amp fails on nearly all of them.
When I had that on my S10 Blazer I just spay painted them, the trim and the spare tire rack. Looked like new and I got over a grand on trade in with a blown transmission.
That's a nice solution. One recommendation I'd offer is to lower the window and pop out the rubber "window run" from the frame so you can tuck the wrap into the frame, then pop the run back into place to hold the wrap. Keeps 90 mph wind from trying to peel it off. 😜
EXCELLENT!!! I had this exact issue with my 2014 Passat. The B Pillars had faded all around. Instructions were simple, just follow them. It came out GREAT! thanks!!!
The first thing I did to my 2015 Ram was remove that crappy wrap. It was still in good shape but it looks so much better with the wrap removed. Removing the adhesive from the paint was a PITA though. Took me longer to remove the adhesive then it did the wrap.
Tysm for this tutorial, exactly what I needed! Just a suggestion: put the cap on your alcohol asap - it evaporates super fast so you're wasting it and also the vapors are a fire hazard ❤
I have a Honda Element with a faded plastic bumper...Someone said to take a propane torch to reheat the area. it worked! Turned the bleached Gray back to black! Not saying this would work for your pillar, but wanted to pass this tip on to your Subs who may have faded body panels, etc
You should try wrapping a 14 Cadillac CTS sedan where the b pillar posts are connected to the top of the window piece to and it’s all one piece! How is that done? Several feet long.
My 2016 Equus has the same problem where Hyundai BlueLink was due to be disabled at the end of 2021 because the head end unit has a 2G radio in it. Hyundai recently sent me an email notifying all owners that they were able to negotiate a continuation of 2G service with a provider which will allow them to extend the life of my car's BlueLink. Perhaps this will also benefit other car makers? Quoting: We want to notify you of an extension to this date. While the Hyundai Bluelink device in your vehicle requires access to cellular networks maintained by wireless service providers outside the control of Hyundai and Hyundai Bluelink, we have continued to work directly with Aeris Communications, the wireless service provider of the network. Aeris Communications has announced that it will be extending the life of the network beyond December 31, 2021. We currently anticipate the network will continue to operate until January 1, 2023.
Quick suggestion. Since you do the camera work on so many of your videos and it's sometimes awkward to work while holding the camera, how about adding some casters to a tripod? You could then move the camera around with maybe a short handle attached and when it came time to stop and focus on you doing some work you would have both hands free.
Hey, JR... Just a suggestion... Next time you are showing us a way to wrap, give us a little more info on the tools you used and maybe a closeup of what you cut in the edges.

Started a few years ago to a thought I woke up to and wrote down. Been a crazy couple of months. You're free to do with it as you like. I just need it out of my head to see if it blossoms at all. Maybe now I can get back to moving in. Have a good one.
Funny how the same pillars on my 1992 SC300 looked brand new when I sold it in 2018. I think they were like normal base/clear coat, could see the swirls until i hit it with a very mild polish and wax
I have rough plastic b pillars on my car. I wanted to the black gloss but the wrap follows the texture of the b pillar and when I wrapped it it looks like orange peel texture. I'm thinking of getting those b pillars stickers in black gloss, they are thicker.
Never. Because you keep asking. He’s going to switch it to the most boring cars ever , a Ford pinto, a gremlin, a citation and last but not Least, a Suzuki esteem. All automatics, base models , no ac of power options and all bone stock!
I have a VW that has chrome trim around the windows that has a mottled appearance. It can’t be polished out because it’s apparently some kind of degradation that happened beneath a clearcoat. Do they make a wrap that could be used to restore the appearance of these trim pieces?
That's the thing about Lexuses, they are well built cars, if something breaks you fix it and the car looks great again. Some other luxury brands are just piles of junk with low quality plastic parts and peeling off interiors.
Nice - I've been wanting to see just a simple wrap like this - have a CRV needing this and definitely looks like a good DIY!!! Hoping to see that Aztek get some love soon! We had a 2001 from new until 2019 that still worked fine but was showing signs of imminent electrical issues that were not going to be worth chasing down
Nice video as always. I was thinking that if you put the window down, you'd be able to tuck the wrap between the front edge of the pillar and the window seal. Would that be overkill?
QUESTION @WatchJRGo Chrome stainless strips have/had a black coating, wtf do I use to restore those? Just Primer/paint? Original coating was pretty thick..
RAM has been wrapping those pillars for years. I had a 2017 in black and they still wrapped the pillars. I would bet those marks on that Lexus are from fingers dragging across that part when opening and closing the door. Which is probably why RAM wraps them also.
If you do 91% alcohol and dilute it then why not just use 70%? 91%straight is perfect it removes oils, grease and dirt and preps it good. Came out looking great in the end.
Jr! You forgot a HUGE fact!!!! You said “ this vinyl wrap will probably last the LIFE of the vehicle. Now you should of said this, because it’s the main point of Lexus and it’s the truth. “This vinyl wrap will probably last the LIFE of the vehicle and this being a Lexus/Toyota that basically means forever, literally, until the world collapses or something happens or it’s literally the earths time to expire, this car will continue on and look amazing due to sweat ,hard labor, elbow grease and last but not least, a nice dose of Avalon King!
This is wrap and size I used: metrorestyling.com/collections/black-vinyl-wrap/products/avery-gloss-black-vinyl-wrap-sw900-190-o?variant=36377913786520
I would have chrome wraped it because of the window trim
Thank you! My 2006 Mazda 6 also thanks you!
I was waiting for you to mess with us and put camo wrap on there.🤣
if he wasn’t as good at almost everything you could call him “watch JR screw up something”
I was looking for this, thank you...
You missed the perfect chance to end this video with "and that's a wrap!" As always mate, Cheers for the content.
That’s more @ElliotAlvis’ wheelhouse
Hey mate, another fellow Aussie watching JR?
Good one 😂
*_cringe_*
Every time youre saying you did something else back in the day that sounds absurd. I built night clubs worked IT owned a wrap shop trained elephants scuba dove with navy seals etc... You belong in the dos equis commercial.
Personally, I am waiting for JR to say "I sat on my backside and watched some guy on youtube for YEARS".........
Wrap the corvette?? would be sick to see a whole wrap job on this channel!!
We’ll need to fix the clear first but I’d love to wrap it 🍻
This is the type of quality content that keeps me coming back: precision cuts by guys who's steady hands haven't been ruined by alcoholic dt's and marriage-related anxiety.
Marriage-related anxiety. Lmao . Truer words never spoken !
I'm addicted to wait for JR vids before I go to sleep. It's usually around 1AM here in Brazil. It's worth it.
It's usually between 10-11pm for me. Perfect for bedtime.
Same, it was posted about 15 mins ago and it’s 11:45pm here in Wisconsin (USA)
I somehow found this channel couple of months ago and I just wanna say I love how dedicated u are at posting. Love watching it before sleeping :)
Never thought of wrapping my pillars, good shout!
Dude tell me you haven’t sold the Aztek yet. I haven’t seen it in a while and I’m worried. Loving all the content and keep up the great work man!
It’s on the lift in the corner, we’re doing the transmission 🍻
I've been watching this channel since its inception and this is finally something I can do to my own car.
Dude perfect timing. I'm picking up a TSX for my wife this weekend with faded pillars and now I know how to fix them!
Lexus care, we will always be there. Even when your car is no longer yours. Awesome customer service.
I didn’t even think to vinyl wrap those. Thanks for this! Haha.
I would like to see more vinyl wrap informational content from this channel.
Perfect timing. Just got a 2008 Sport Trac and all the black pillars are faded to hell. Ordering now.
That fading looks like where the previous owners hand would touch to close the door. Skin oils and friction took their toll over the years.
WatchJRGo: "Toyotas never break."
Scotty Kilmer: "I'm Scotty Kilmer, and I approve this message!"
Can confirm: Dodge / Ram truck factory b-pillar wraps don't last long at all. They fade and crack easily.

@@User-cb4jm Needs to be a real Lexus. The lower trims are just beautified Toyotas.
I work nights and look forward to the midnight episodes of this show.
Need to do this on my LS. I have seen guys disassemble the pillars, but this route looks a lot less hassle free.
Those pillars look awesome for cheap. I got some spots like that on my Charger so might be worth trying sometime if it drives me crazy enough.
OK< how many duck tape fans would/are saying, "Just use Black Duct tape and it's done :)"
When I had that on my S10 Blazer I just spay painted them, the trim and the spare tire rack. Looked like new and I got over a grand on trade in with a blown transmission.
Hah, I actually have a roll of wrap sitting in my shop to do this on my BMW
:()
Make it so! 🚀
@@WatchJRGo OK, Jean Luc!
Jake! Why yall gotta be so damn far away? I can show you how to wrap. My 1st complete WrapJob was in 1999. Been training since

I bet those pieces snap off so you could bring that wrap farther in to help them stay on longer but it does look good.
Thanks for this video. I think I just found the solution to my faded A pillars on my 2000 SC400 and this does look like something I can do on my own.

@9:37 -- Did you then ceramic coat the new vinyl? Would that help with lifespan of the vinyl?
Do the pillars get ruined when removing the wrap in the future? More damage than before it was wrapped scratch wise?

Question, how do u perfect the cut without cutting the weatherstrip? Been practicing and tend to nick the weatherstrip at times

when cutting adjacent to the rubber seals how do you make sure you don't cut into the rubber seals?
Lift the seals out of the way 🍻

Will you do something for the yellowish digitizer of the screen?
Working on that now! 🍻
JR!.. I'd love to wrap a vehicle w/you. We could race! Rear Bumper to Front Bumper
Thrinking of wrapping with chrome vinyl to see how it looks.
Anyone remember ordering from "Vinyl Cutter Sign Supplies"?
Are those pillars replaceable? Or are they glued to the door frame?
Should i spray my window or wrap with water ??
my dodge charger passenger side b pillar is chipping away right in the middle of it. Very annoying and ugly. I might have to try this
If you do 91% alcohol and dilute it then why not just use 70%? 91%straight is perfect it removes oils, grease and dirt and preps it good. Came out looking great in the end.
its has been a year how is it holding up? are there any deep swirls from car wash?
I just always use masking tape and a rattle can. Looks great.
I gotta do this to my X5D LOL
Was wondering as I jave seen a few channels with fire teucks on them lately, What happened to yours?
I am going carbon fiber do u have a diy video if possible
I’m so impressed how much for the car?
*Being a previous Toyota owner I can say they DO in fact break*
Like a glove 👌
why not take the pillars off then wrap?
JR
Love the finish mate I would be scaref of getting creases in the wrapping you just make things look so easy you are a natrual
