Of ALL DIY You Tube Videos Of How To Install Carbon Fiber Vinyl To Car Door Pillars ..Your Step By Step Video Is The Ultimate Best By Far!!!.....In My Opinion..Thank You Sooo Much For Uploading!!
Good job on the carbon fiber tape. I may be doing one soon after watching a few more videos and using all of you guys great techniques ;) Thanks for posting.
Really enjoyed your video. I have a 2005 Ford Taurus sedan on which the side pillars look really weathered and vinal sprays/creams haven't done the trick. The wrap improves the appearance 1000%
Just a little tip, dont rub the squeegee up and down, go in one direction only. i.e, from top to bottom and lift the tool off the vinyl and start again. Saves air bubbles being pushed around.
Looks really good. I am getting ready to do the pillars on my kia soul. I am going to do my pillars in piano black. You have me a lot of helpful information. To do under the moldings use a tucking tool.
@@DaveMedicus very impressed with results, superb look at only 18 pounds. I was lucky enough to be able to remove the pillars and sand them and stick the carbon on away from the car ,
Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed it. I hope that it helps. A helpful tip that I could out is that smaller surfaces are a little harder to start out on. The pillars were perfect for starting.
No I wasn't cutting into the paint because there was a lip I was cutting against. I never had any wrap actually touching the paint. Very simple process on my vehicle. Thanks for watching!
really appreciate the level of detail in this video! using the magnets is really smart. I'm guessing the temperatures you're stating are in farenheit? maybe I misheard but 70F doesn't seem all that warm to me
+Hamza_RJi Now you are making me jealous. I actually sold my Alpine White 2005 645Ci before I moved out to Arizona to learn how to fly helicopters. That was my favorite car that I have ever owned with the exception of the constant oil leaks that I had to fix. I am glad that this video helped you.
Thanks. It wasn't very hard to do and you will also have more room for error. Those kits are cut almost exact. If you are the slightest bit off you will have to buy a new set. This is a much easier and safer way to do it.
Do you have any recommendations as to where I can find this material online? I saw a few dealers on Ebay and one of them is selling a 12" x 60" roll for about $6.00. Not 3M brand but a clone of it I suppose. I also heard it's easy to remove in case you no longer like the look and it leaves no sticky residue behind. Is this true? Thanks!!
Yes it is super easy to remove. I would try to get a good quality vinyl because it will give you better results. I believe my stuff total was like $40 will tools included. Just do a google search for automotive vinyl.
Thanks. I hope that this gives you some good ideas for your projects. If its your first time start small. Do not over complicate things with complex shapes.
It looks nice but everything in this world has its own life. When it is peeled off after long time to change with another one , does it have bad impact on the door pillars?
Great work :) I do have a question. What if the Carbon Fiber Vinyl is not sticky enough? Is their any glue or something that can be applied that won't damage the paint or leave any residue if the Vinyl is removed?
+akshay sobs You can try to apply heat to the vinyl to melt the glue already on the material and try it. Other than that if its not sticky I would not even attempt to use it. There is some glue that would hold the edges but that won't help you if the material is bad.
Heating the vinyl up makes cutting harder. If it conforms and stretches cutting isn’t as easy as when it’s stiff. It’s like paper pretty stiff you can hold it in one hand and cute through real easy. Good finished product thought looks great!
Great video babyboy!! now I have a 2019 kia forte and I m trying to add some to the rear sides because they said they didn't make chrome but then I thought about adding the carbon instead but do u think that I can get the carbon for this type of car,let a brother know and thanks!!
Angles are hard but for a beginner I would try to stick with more of the flatter/slightly curved pieces. I have a few other videos where I did the interior handles I would watch if I were you. This was actually my first project with vinyl. Good luck and let me know how things go.
Great little tutorial very informative 👍 I know this was years ago, wondering how long would these vinyl last? I'm plan on doing a chrome delete & thinking whether to vinyl rap or paint. Thanks
I kept it on for 3 years but you can keep them on for way longer. I’ve see people easily get 6 years out of it. I had a decal on my truck hood for the 8 years that I owned it. It just gets a little harder to pull off because it gets brittle with age. I’m talking about when under force.
Holy crap that looks good! I can't wait to do this on my 4Runner that I just got. Idiot before me chipped the pillars up bad. I might have to put some body filler on it first so that it doesn't show through the vinyl.
Use a good wrap brand. The one I used didn't last very long and I have to redo it. The adhesive on the back didn't hold and was lifting and expanding in the middle. I would use like a 3m or better product
iamMrBiggs I would not have been able to wrap around the inside of the door and make it look right if I did the, both together. The trim went around the inside pretty far. I believe I showed it farther back in the video.
+GR81 This was actually my first time doing it thats why. Once I got to the other side is was super easy. It will be the same for you if they are simple pieces to cover like this. I have 2 other vinyl videos and you can see that it got much easier. Thanks for watching.
I kept it on for about 4 years it held up great. I would put wax on it to help protect it from the Arizona sun. I still have the vinyl on the interior of my car so it holds up
Man like 8-10hp easy. lol For me I was just glad I didn't have to deal with the discoloration of the pillars. Funny enough when I took it off 4 years later the pillars looked like new. I haven't had to put anything on there since.

Looks great. I've never applied vinyl to a car and was wondering how long does it before you can trim it? Or does it stick once you hit it with heat gun.
You can trim it immediately. This video was actually my first time so you can do it too. the heat gun is only needed if you have to stretch the material. If you have to stretch it a lot there are some good videos on youtube with tricks when using a heat gun.
Logan I am doing great. The vinyl wrap worked great. I kept it on for about 2 1/2 years before I took it off. All of the edges held up great. The adhesive was not very strong on the cheap material I used so I would recommend 3m or Oracle. I plan on doing it again with a different style material just for fun.

No not with this. The pillars are made of metal and have a large edge. On my vehicle it’s very easy to cut the vinyl without even touching the paint. When I and working on the inside of the door it’s easier to see what I am talking about.
You don't have to get carbon fiber vinyl wrap. The vinyl wrap is available in many different colors and finishes. Look on eBay and Amazon to see all of your options, many sellers will also offer a small piece of wrap for just a few dollars so you can see how it looks in person. I bought a sample from 1 dealer, it looked great on the internet, but looked like crap in person.
Anyone know how smooth a plastic panel needs to be for vinyls to stick ?? . For example the dark grey panels on many cars have a light molded pattern on the surface ( so not to be shiny and smooth ) as on tops of interior door panels on a HYUNDAI or a KIA where your elbow would rest.
Usually will conform to those small surface changes well. Gloss patters will show more mistakes or that texture. If you are using a textured vinyl you should be fine in my opinion.
Not when I needed to curve around the back to cover my desired locations. If I used one piece it would have come up short and looked unfinished with the door open.
@@DaveMedicus Isn't it lovely when people correct your stupid thought process and save you a few bucks and time haha, thanks for responding :)Would have felt dumb seeing this comment after I made the stupid mistake
@@Trykastclan some vehicles you can completely get away with it so I understand. On mine in sections there was 5/8” wrap around the back. I think I showed this towards the end of the video but I’m not sure. Lol. Good luck with your project. 👍🏻
***** It stands up fine to touchless car washes. However I will say that this product didn't hold up to my expectations. I would pay the extra money and use a 3m or better product. It works well inside but I have to redo the exterior because the vinyl actually expanded and now doesn't sit correctly. Its really annoying because if anything I expected it to shrink.
+D0tam4n You only want to heat where you are going to stretch the material. If I heated the whole material the pattern would be incorrect. You don't see videos where people heat every inch of the vinyl when wrapping a whole car. This stuff was like $7 for a 5 foot section its adhesive was really cheap and I live in AZ so it got hot and would not stick well. The 3m I used worked perfectly and was a much higher quality material.
