Jack really is one of the greatest actors of our time. Legendary performances, very few films you can say he wasn't superb in.
I'd go so far as to call him the greatest actor alive.
These aren't the actual nominees (other than Jack), by the way. In reality he went up against Matt Damon, in Good Will Hunting, amongst other prolific actors

I laughed so hard when I saw the other “Oscar nominees” along with Jack Nicholson. The video creator did a great job with this clip. For a split second there, I thought maybe Tim Allen really did get nominated for his role in Jungle 2 Jungle and I was just living under a rock that year. Just as quickly as that thought came into my head, I dismissed it because I can’t see any way that Tim Allen would get an Oscar nomination on his own, let alone for a movie like Jungle 2 Jungle. Then as soon as I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze… my thoughts were confirmed. Great clip. 👍

My dad and I both love quoting Jack Nicholson's line about "good times, noodle salad", though dad admits I do a much better impression of Jack than he does, he said that one time when we, my mom, and his barber were eating dinner and I bragged I could do a better impression of Jack than anyone else in the room.

Sad that Duvall had to come up against this movie and Jack. The Apostle performance was worthy.
Dustin Hoffman got nominated for Wag The Dog ? Wow. I didn‘t know that. He is brilliant in it. One of my favorite movies
I've seen 4 of those 5 films, except for Fonda in Ulee's Gold. Hoffman was good in Wag the Dog, but up for lead actor? It was a supporting role. Leo should have at least a nomination in that spot for Titanic. He was the lead from beginning to end with a very charismatic performance. Definitely some politicking going on this year.
One of the few movies I can watch time & time again. Every actor did a fabulous job including the dog ❤️🐾
one of my favourites..i loved the way he acted and how he looked after her son how she came to his place wondering how to repay him the compliment he gave her..one of my favourite movies n his dialogue was perfect

It's not my number one favorite, but it is one of my all-time favorites. In the interest of Jack Nicholson films I'd say it's in the top three along with "A Few Good Men" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
Can't believe he didn't get an Oscar for Chinatown. I love the heck out of him.
I never was the biggest fan of "Chinatown" (unlike my dad), but I did love Jack's performance in it.
1997 was one of the best years for movies. So many great ones.

That year Nicholson would've won it by farting on Camera, judging for the competition, but still one of the best movies ever made.

That was not the competition. This guy Jesus hacked the video and made it up. Watch the video he Jack names all the guys he was up against. Peter Fonda, Robert Duvall, Dustin Hoffman, and Matt Damon. It was a tight race but Jack is the best so he got it.

@@happybirthday146 Apparently when my brothers were little my dad took them to see "Little Miss Sunshine", which he evidently didn't remember all that well. I never saw that movie but I doubt that it's as good as "As Good As It Gets", and I loved Greg Kinnear in the latter.

That final scene in the film, particularly the moment where Jack kisses Helen and says "i KNOW i can do better than that" before kissing Helen again never fails to bring a tear of joy to my eye.

With the borderline surrealism of how hard Helen Hunt gets dissed, followed by Jack's happy dancing, the fake nominees almost don't seem that out of place.
Helen's glow helped this movie have real character.

This is one of my all time favourite films, Nicholson overacts, but it’s necessary for the role.
