  • This is an honest review (not a prepaid promotion) of the Hiiker app. I have walked through the main features on both the mobile and desktop versions and taken it out on a hike to test it out. I also then compared it with my current app Outdooractive.

Worth a look. Although I always take a map and compass as back up

Cool.i use Outdoor active when out walking, just to show distance walked...i still use paper maps when walking somewhere new....don't think i would ever pay to walk in places that i know like the back of my hand...Technology has gone crazy...i just go out for a walk.

Can't blame you. I take it for areas I don't know and to track the route. Always have a map and compass as back up though!

Will give it a go. It sounds good just for the live location facilities alone. Could be useful if out alone??

Could be. Both outdooractive and Hiiker have the ability to do it. I would suggest Outdooractive as the cheaper option if you don't want all the bells and whistles like 3D maps etc. Both are good tools it just depends on what you want. The free version are worth trying first to see how you get on with them, but only the paid versions have OS maps in them.
