  • Belly fat in women can worsen after age 45 and we can prevent it. A study shows that for women around the perimenopausal period which is between 45-55 years of age, the belly fat deposition can be increased by 44%. During this period, the female sex hormone estrogen starts to fall. The body compensates by producing more androgens which tend to add on to the belly fat. If we have a good muscle mass, this androgen effect can be prevented. Hence, it is absolutely important for women to lift weights to build muscle.

      I do push-ups instead of weight lifting. One does not need any equipments for this

      Start small 10-15 lbs. Kettlebell 15lbs should be good to use for a year or so and then you can get bigger weights.

    at 40 i think i have realised it at the right time and started doing it from last 1 year. Can see the difference already and feeling better day by day with increased confidence level, weight maintained well, good metabolism, and also got rid of period cramps.
    So gals buck up and lift all your problems with weight training.
    Its awesome.

      @@bsr7473 instead of following any video you should better join a gym with good coach who can guide you better in training as well as diet.
      I go 6 days a week for 1-2 hours but all depends on your requirements like weight gain/loss strength training , muscle building which u want to get trained in.
      Believe me starting it will be like hell but make up ur mind and do not stop until it becomes your own heaven.

    I have started lifting weight past few weeks. My family is amazed by my stamina. I do yard work without any problems. I am back from a overseas trip. I could with eaze put carry on luggage in overhead bins. 💪
    But i am not losing weight even though i am following time restricted diet along with stregth training.
    Nevertheless i feel good. I went thru lot of medications
    Thank you for being my guide❤

    May be not for someone with PCOS - I started bulking up & my biceps have grown bigger…my upper body(shoulders & chest) expanded more giving a broader look - could be due to the testosterone level variance in my body
    finally the best workouts for my PCOS body have been non-stressful ones - walking, Pilates, yoga, hiking

    I am72 and I lift weights Monday lower body Wednesday’s are upper body and Friday functional. I have been doing it for years now. I have no belly fat
    I do every day20 push-ups regular ones as soon as I get up

      ​@@enshrine5825look brother/sister, NOW is the best time to start anything. Don't be scared of the side effects, start slow by lifting some readily available things at home and do wall pushups, then slowly progress further

      ​@@enshrine5825being so young for now you can start with your own body weight instead of external weights and do basic workouts like squats,sit-ups,pull-ups,push-ups(initially start with baby push-ups then wall and then full ones and move on to advance ones),lunges,crunches and some _stretching_ to complete it...!!
      When you build some strength and feel like good enough of training then you may start with low weights or water filled bottles and then add on or maybe hire some coach or hit a gym...!

    I'm 19, started lifting weight. I'll encourage everyone to do it. No you won't suddenly look bulky, don't worry about these. You'll look toned, and strong. High time girls should start lifting weight more than doing just cardio and yoga.
    (Even if you want to look bulky, you've to train harder than guys as you don't have much testosterone like guys) good luck

      U can always do yoga.. just because u dont see results immediately doesnt mean it doesnt work.. it is one öf the best things evr. I left gym since 2020.. i had a bad relationship with gym. Yoga made me super calm. I tried to do yoga pilates n body weight exercises.. it helps me a lot with mobility and flexibilty

    About the peri menopausal age - I know a friend who is working in high stress working environment .. she feels like she is sliding into menopause herself in her mid 30s!
    She has increased belly fat, fatigue and acne n not able to keep up with us her home maker friends.. whereas had a flawless skin in the school/ college days.. not sure if it's something temp or peri menopausal

      You should factor in genetics, good diet , stress and baking exercise.
      Perimenopause can be identified with tests. Ask her to check with her GP and get tested.

    Atleast 90% of the today's women never walk. I mean walking 🚶‍♀️ in a form of an exercise.
    My mother 71, walks half a kilometers to get me idly whenever I visit her.

    Dr.pal you are right.but I suggest you do a dedicated video on this topic. And mention all the points and caution to be taken while lifting weights. As many women of this age might already have many issues like spondylitis,hernia ,disc other issues and can't jump all of a sudden into weights. Ladies.. how many of think this might be usefull .??😊

    Thank u dr,india me heavy weight means, arre bachche nahi honge a o problem hojayega,noo wrong mentality, phele ke log Kitna weight wala kaam karte isse unka strength achcha hota hai tha,aajkal her kam ke liye kam wali ya light kaam hota for abdomen ke liye ya body ki strength ke liye Exercise Must hai,for life also for pregnancy also before pregnancy her kisi ko core strength ko tight karke hi karna chahiye,after pregnancy bhi light workout isse pregnancy me complications nahi hoti hai,aajkal kitne problem hote hai....Take care everyone sab apke haath hai bas soochna khudke liye bht zaruri body healthy hai to sab kuch nahi to kuch nahi...

    I have prolapsed disc of L4,L5 and S. Can i lift weight? My doctor adviced me not to lift weight more than 1/2 kg only for 10 minutes. But i want to be very fit. Height 5.4 weight 68kg.

    My mother is really weak if she lift a little heavy thing something in her stomach dislocates in our local language its called bai I dont know it in english after that we have to call dai(women who takecare at maternity) to fix it and its very painful for my mother so we dont let her pickup little heavy things.
