Hate it! Our Eyes are horizontally orientated - not vertically! Photography thogh is a comletely different story. There the view can be wandering over the image.
I really dread it. Composing for vertical videos doesn't work for me in most cases. I feel like vertical content is just that, content and it takes away from the art. It's unavoidable these days though as most clients request it.
I hated/ignored it for a long time, but when I got my R5C I found the vertical menu setting, which made me curious, and now I like it, especially on the Ronin RS gimbal with the vertical bracket 👍
Thank you for this. If you can go into framing vertical more I would love that. I really struggle I guess coping with the extra head room and lower space. I guess my mind just isnt used to it but great video. Appreciate it :)
Hi Damien! You could do an episode on export settings. Im really stuggling on making the content look crisp with my c70. Thank you for a great video as always!
Always for me, if clients want a 9:16 video, they also want a 16:9 one of the same content. So I have to crop heavily and try to compose for 9:16 using the frame guides from the C70. So annoying since the C70 is great for vertical and I've never even used the mount on the handgrip!
This may be a silly question, but on your second view (push in) what is being done to not look like a jump cut on the edit? Is it as simple as a transition? Thanks!
Hallo Damien!!!!! :-)))) Ein sehr hilfreiches Video!! :-):-):-))))) Es ist auch clever, dass das Video ist 9 Minuten und 16 Sekunden lang. Seitenverhältnis 9:16. ;-);-)))))
Do you like shooting vertical or do you avoid it like the plague?
I hate it but it is what is trending...

Canon->Menu->Wrench->Add video rotate info->Enable. Now all you vertical shots looks vertical when you transfer them to your computer

Thank you for the tips! We need to adjust to the market, not the other way around.
It's a shame that a video like this dont get the views of gear related content. So much value on those tips! Thanks for another great video!
Can you give a in depth about vertical composition and recommended camera movements to enhance the production? Tat would help me alot Thanks!
I was wondering why my R5 C wasn't automatically rotating in vertical 😅 that ks for the info on format

@damiencooper, if you are delivering to both RUclips (horizontal) and Tiktok (vertical), would you advise shooting on two different cameras?
How do you feel about open gate for your vertical videos

I'll never sell out to shooting vertical. Everything about it smacks of stupidity.

My god I hate vertical 😢😢😢
Vertical framing doesn't make sense. Gen Z are just lazy!
