  • We hiked to Second Beach on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula to do some beach tent camping. The trail is beautiful and only .8 miles one way. This part of the coastline is part of Olympic National Park so you will need a permit to camp.

What an adventure! That's a great pro-tip on the bear-box. The day will come somewhere down the line when, for some reason, you won't be able to go and explore like you do. These moments are precious - treasure them!

Emily+Matt - The Mrs and I are in the ultralight teardrop market. I stumbled into your channel searching for Pika trailer owners videos. Y'all are giving us great content! I dig the scenery, views, your trademark cocktail segment and Matt's dorky humor. I find myself wishing your videos were longer, but understand the effort going into them.

In February the wood is so wet it is possible to build a campfire but water boils at 212 degrees and doesn’t burn until it is over 450 degrees. So you have to boil all the water out of the wood until it will burn.

Good call on the bear box! Even if it isn't bear season! We had an encounter with a raccoon on the Oregon coast last month because we forgot one! 🤣

Very cool experience. Thanks for sharing. Did you stay warm? What pot are you using? I like the handle and it looks to be the perfect size to hold stove and fuel.

Looks like a scene out of the goonies... I was waiting for one eyed Willy's ship to float by... 😅

Raccoons are the problem not bears. Deer are also on the beaches. We have been backpacking the Olympic Coast since 1974. Good windscreen for your stove.

The coast has lots of dedicated camp sites depending on where you go. My friends and I like to through hike from Oil City to Third Beach. My favorite spot is Toleak Point. Best beach on the whole coast.

Looks fun. Is it just me, or did you. have an unusually sunny time to be mid- to late-August in the PNW?

Folks talked "highly" about those biscuits and gravy, but I was not a fan. Nice spot.

Do you need to reserve a spot on the beach to be allowed to camp directly on the beach?
