- I made another version of this video a few years ago and it's one of my best performing videos. However, FL Studio has gone through a bunch of updates since then, including a new version of FL Studio. I wanted to do another up to date version with a bit more info about plugins and features. There's also been a major price update which I'll talk about in the video.
The version of FL Studio that you get is going to depend on what you need. In this video I'll cover all the most important features to know about, including some of my favorite plugins in each version.

If you're new to music production and FL Studio, this video is intended to cover what I consider to be the most relevant plugins from each version.
An important thing to be aware of is that with the Fruity Edition you can't even record or drag audio clips into the playlist, which in my opinion makes this version basically useless. From the producer edition on, you'll have access to all the features you'll need in FL Studio, it's just a matter of which plugins you think you'll use. A lot of people hate on stock FL Studio plugins, but if you actually know how to use them properly, many are extremely powerful. I recommend learning how to use all your stock plugins before going out and buying a bunch of other plugins that you may not need. I used the trial for a long time to get to grips with FL Studio because I was a complete beginner to music making. I eventually purchased the all plugins edition when I realised it is worthwhile and that the features I was using most in trial were not in the other versions. Apart from not being able to reopen saved files in the trial version, it does allow you to really explore the daw. I wrote my first piece with the trial and its limitations actually made me understand my song better because I had rewrite from the beginning a few times.

Bro the fruity addition is great I got that first and upgraded gradually when I realised why I needed the signature bundle. I will be upgrading to the all plugin version later when I actually need it
The producer edition seems to be the best option for a newbie. Especially since you can always upgrade later on. Its 150 right now. All plugins is 374. Which would be great for someone who is serious and not completely brand new to music creation.
If I get to a decent enough level and continue using the software, I will most definitely upgrade. But with my newbie status, I cannot justify getting that at the moment.
I'm completely new but I'm the typa person to go big or go home. I'm one click away from buying all plugins but I was curious how your experience has been with producer edition.

@@hadlymcmuffin I got an email stating they'll ban my license because they claimed I was allegedly using a cracked version, which is impossible since I just bought it lol. I asked them to refund as this is straight up a lie and a bullying tactic and so they did... now I'm occasionally using the trial version.

wow i didn't know the demo version i have been using for 3 years has all the plugins i use, i was gonna go for the producer version but i think im the All Plugins Edition as i use almost every plugin in FL and in my currency (British Pound) it goes for around 400 pounds but right now it's 20% off and is down to 306 so thanks for this video as i was just gonna get the producer edition.
I started with the signature edition but producer would work well enough. With that said IL does like to tuck a lot of the cooler plugins away into the all plugins bundle. You can find a lot of free alternatives however. I was lucky enough to catch an end of the year sale and upgrading to all plugins was cheaper and worth it.
totally agree. Catching those end of year sales are key. That's how I upgraded too
End of year sales are a scam though. My end of year sale price is still the same it was in December…599…apparently it was 3K…the original now still says 599🙄

If i buy the producer edition on my asus computer for instance, and then buy/ switch to a completely new computer, do i have to buy producer edition again? or can i somehow move it to an other computer? Pleaase answer if you know cause im a bit confused
@fbdkvje1198 when you purchase it for the first time it you get a license. I believe you can transfer this license to another computer so you don't have to re-buy it. Not 100% sure but I believe this is correct.

If you're in the market for a new computer try to buy one that comes with FL Producer Edition included like I did. I got a Razer laptop and it came with FL so when I upgraded to the all plugins bundle I only had to pay $200.
You can always start at the beginning. And work your way up in increments if money is tight. But i got the whole enchilada. It was worth the purchase.

Well try it first. I bought the producer version to just abandon it after 3 months because I couldn't work with the workflow of FL.
Utilize the test version of different Daws so you get a feeling. You always can upgrade
I had the full version albeit cracked!! to see if i like the DAW it was full of every Native Plugin i treat my self to the.... same Edition Producer software got the much sort after E-Licence near Xmas to find out when id brought the DAW Its as hardly any of its own Plugs what a S**t lucky it has i of my fav plugin SYTRUS !! then FLEX Which im still not decided on ..This is a grate video with your experience David taking people thought fl Studio" DAW OPTIONS" is Spot on.

The way Ive been getting around the whole "cannot load saves" is by sending my file to my friend who then sends it back and I can then open the file again
How does that work?
@@hut.v6909 I send the flp to my friend. He downloads it and sends it back to me. Then I download it and can reopen it. Although this process requires that you have a friend who has the paid version of fl studio. Which my friend does
That's a design feature. That allows professionals who don't own FL Studio to collaborate with others who do, without having to pay for it themselves. In other words, a pro could help out a friend and also get a good intro to FLS, which helps new producers and also helps sell more seats.
That time takes is more valuable than a 500 dollar for me so I stopped doing it and purchased the producer edition with my little savings 😂
All plugins all the way. I bought it for $300 I believe on a Black Friday sale. I thought I’d just get all the current plugins at that time, but no, I’ve gotten everything that has come out since.

In my opinion, producer is probably the best seeing as you'll probably start to add third party plugins to your toolbox before long.

Thomann is always an option if looking for deals on music stuff, idk too much about the FL side of things, but the Ableton deals are pretty nice. Trying out FL Studio just because all my friends use it and figured it would be nicer for collabs if I was just using the same DAW as all them :3 also majority of my work is via piano roll and live recording these days, ableton's piano roll still kinda lacking to me :p

Bought the signature bundle years ago. After the last couple of years of upgrades, it isn't worth it anymore. I will probably upgrade to the full version now. I'm a big Synth guy. And I'm a little hurt over not having Kepler EXO. Sytrus and Harmless are good. But the last exclusive synth starting at Signature Bundle was so long ago. I DGAF about pitch correction or another Phaser. Gross Beat is nice. But I might just switch to Bitwig full-time. The modular rack right in the workflow is nice. A little more convenient than Opening and closing Patcher.

Been using it since 2008. The basics of it are ridiculously easy to understand, which is most likely a reason why FL is so popular among new music producers. When it comes to stuff like mixing, installing certain vsts and plugins and some settings however, you may struggle. But on youtube you will find all the information and help you need for that. So it's a bit of a learning curve but once you get a hang of it it's not that complicated.

I always used the cracked version when I was young, so when I finally earned my own money and worked a decent job I thought it was time to pay for their service and buy the producer edition.
Ended up having to buy the all plugins bundle because I just couldnt handle the restrictions on the plugins I got used to😅

Now prices are dropped,, yesterday I bought Fl Studio Signature Édition in 8800₹ ( around 110$ ) and All Plugins is available at 190$ 😅 and I got Many plugins like Sakura and others with Signature Bundle..

yes you can use any 3rd party plugins. take a look at the signature bundle too because it has newtone and pitcher which are good for vocals. Producer edition might be fine though, just depends exactly what you need
