- I'm sure you've heard the saying over the years, "RIP Cartoon Network 1992-2004", but how much truth does it actually hold? Was 2004 really such a bad year that it meant the death of an entire network? Well, MonstersReview and I give our opinions on this old saying.

THEY SHOW TEEN TITANS GO 23 FUCKING TIMES TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fucking know, what the fuck happened to the good shows?
THEY SHOVE IT DOWN OUR THROATS AND CALL IT A DAY, AND THAT WILL REPEAT FOREVER!!!!!!!
+Aabram Lordofthelocust DONT YOU FUCKING DARE SPEAK OF THAT DISGRACE OF A FUCKING SHOW! TEEN TITANS AMAZING BUT "THAT SHOW" IS A FUCKING DISGRACE! TO ANY CARTOON AT LEAST ON NICK SPONGEBOB COMES ON!
+Sample Text It doesnt have Teen Titans.... =(
That show used to be amazing wtf happen lol ?
the old cartoon network had a different feeling than these days CN
Agreed
Aideath88 thank you for agreeing
+Blue The Wolf i know right
I wish I had my very own time machine. So I could go back in time, and save Cartoon Network from ever falling downhill. And have them make more theatrical movies for their other originals.
I agree
CN would be better if they didn't show Teen Titans Go EVERY GOD DANM 5 MINUTES!
I think that too...
+Alex Ramírez Hernández I remember there was a period of time when they did the same thing with Adventure Time.
+BASSFZz But AT is better for me.
Alex Ramírez Hernández It was for me too. But I can only take so much at a time before I want another show.
AWESOME TOONTOWN AND ROBLOX VIDS THANK THE LORD!
I think Cartoon Network died in 2009 when Ed Edd'n Eddy ended. In my opinion it was the last good show. their where still good shows coming out after 2004 but most of them where gone by late 2009. I've tried watching the new stuff but they are just terrible anything after 2009 is terrible on Cartoon Network.
Even Regular Show?
sonicmario945 Sadly yes, I could never get into it.
+Issac Gore i agree 100% i was born in 1998 it died in 2009 for me, i have no arguments for you we have the same opinion.
for me it did you don't have to agree that's you're opinion.
That sucks, because to me, Cartoon Network is back in action again!!! Just wish they get rid of the Teen Titans Crap!!!
CN died the moment TTG was announced
ikr
Truth
no cn commited suicide the momnet ttg became ttg
The old Cartoon Network: the place where we can savor our childhood.
The new Cartoon Network: where childhood shows get banished to the island of misfit cartoons, and they perish.
Its (i think so)
I think Cartoon Network died in 2009 when Stuart Snyder came in started making live action shows then getting rid of the good cartoons Cartoon Network Real and then Finally ending Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Toonami.
it was the last show of ed edd and eddy which is where it dies for me
+Super Saiyan Kid7 the same year Michael Jackson did
first of all, they still show Toonami, but you have to wait until 11:30 pm on Saturday nights, second, I plan on bringing back some of the good ones and make them part of the larger fabric that is my series, the James Gilliam chronicles, sound good to you?
My island is so crazy that theyve been showing Toonami reruns every saturday since 2001 with some modern shows here and there lol but im serious thought Bleach is always episode 1 naruto is a rndom episode one piece is a old episode and then they have some new shit that they take down after a while its so corrupt
B. Brazy I don't know, One Piece may seem new to our country, it may be an old show in Japan, but if it hasn't been shown on American television before, then it must count as new
Few years ago, I would've said that Cartoon Network died when I grew up to make fun of people saying new cartoons always suck. But now I'd say Cartoon Network died when streaming became a thing.
It died when it became terrible.
I miss Chowder...
The sad things about 2014
1. Cartoon Network is crappier then it was in 2010
2. Craig McCracken's show Wander Over Yonder had got cancelled.
3. Fish Hooks got cancelled.
4. The only channels that I even like anymore are Disney and Boomerang.
EXTRA At least Disney has good shows like Gravity Falls.
THEY CANCELLED FISH HOOKS?!?!?! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!?!
Chiaotzu Smith April 4, 2014
Wander over Yonder didn't get cancelled, it actually just got renewed for a second season.
monstersreview It did? Cause on Wikipedia it said it already ended. Well, time to celebrate! WHOOP WHOOP!!
No offence but 2010 was a bless compared to now.
...R.I.P My Childhood...
Ikr!!!

Me Too
I knew
LeonOrenValentine Me too
The old Cartoon Network: the place where we can savor our childhood.
The new Cartoon Network: where childhood shows get banished to the island of misfit cartoons.
The Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex and The Clone Wars were all good in my book.
as of now they are relying on steven universe because steven universe is one good as show
+Karolis Dervinis (Grizzly Cube) ur profile picture makes me cringe
Those were good too.
+Leone yo I finally realize why they cancelled that show cause it was sexual asf but overall it was a good ass show
***** straight up
"Technically,"
"So technically"
"Well, technically,"
"But technically,"
"Then technically"
So true
People are saying to bring back the old shows.
I don't think that's a very good idea.
See: PPG Reboot.
Well ur dumb
Kevin Bolsajian You haven't watched the PPG reboot, have you?
+Kevin Bolsajian Actually he's partly right. They ruined ppg and Teen titans. They just need to show reruns of the old shows that were good.
+Katrinasis I liked the old shows better that's why
+UxieTube I want the old shows
For me 2006 was the beginning of the end. Taking Toonami off the air in 2008 (even though it's back on Adult Swim) was the final nail in the coffin.
golden age 1992-2004
silver age 2004-2007 (the 1st half of 2007 was decent at best in my opinion)
2008-2012 bronze age
2012-current. i cant even say it (2012-2014 was OK cuz it had cartoon planet. but for whatever reason it was cancelled. just like dc nation)
and that's my honest opinion of cartoon network
+Gogeta SSJ4 Majin 2014 AND NOW ARE THE POOPY AGES
+Aabram Lordofthelocust at least this year we got some new shows that can keep me entertained at least
i agree
+Gogeta SSJ4 Majin
Sorry but you did bronze age wrong.
2009 was the worse cartoon network year in history.
1. There were no cartoons except live action.
2. We had dude what would happen, scooby doo live movies,
destroy build destroy, and total drama island series
Except the Total Drama series was great until they got to Revenge. That's when it went downhill. Island, Action and World Tour were awesome though (especially the first and the third)
Adventure time, Regular show, and TAWOG were the shows that revived CN out of death. Now that they're ending, CN will go back to a dark age, and die then.
I feel like cartoonnetwork died after Ed Edd n Eddy
It ended the minute after the movie aired in 2009.
That's when I stopped watching CN until regular show came out. What a great meme.
2 Years Later 30th anniversary of Cartoon Network They Must Get It right
Yeah I do believe Cartoon Network did technically died after “Ed Edd N Eddy” Big Picture Movie back in 2009 since life had already went downhill after the release of it which makes a lot of sense when you even think about it. Sad but true unfortunately no lie I truly miss the good old days tho in all honesty😰😥😢🥺😭😩😪😔💔📺📖💯
But does it even mean there will be maturity sitcoms or Saturday morning afterwards?
Well, I think the golden age of CN ended in mid 2007, but then there was a renaissance era from late 2010 - early 2014, I have no idea where the idea that CN died in 2004 came from, makes absolutely no sense to me, yes, a lot of beloved cartoons ended but it's not like they stopped airing them, they still lived on through reruns until around 2007.
cartoon network went down hill in 2006 with the yes era im 20 years old and a proud 90s baby i grew up with the power house era(97-04) and cartoon network city era(04-06) with shows like dexters lab, courage, KN:KND, ed edd&eddy, jonny bravo, fosters home, billy and mandy, power puff girls, samurai jack, teen titans(didnt really watch the last two but they were still good) i grew up on *nickelodeon* when it was still all that, drake and josh, amanda show, zoey101, unfabulous, keenan and kel, romeo show wild thornberrys, rugrats, catdog, hey arnald, rocket power, invader zim, as told by ginger, jimmy neutron, teenage robot, danny phantom, original spongebob and fairly odd parents, blocks like TEENick, U pick live, slime time live and friday night slime time, i grew up on *disney* when it was even stevens, thats so raven, lizzie mcguire, phil of the future, suite life, smart guy, boy meats world, proud fam, kim possible, brandy&mr whiskers, dcoms like dont look under the bed, phantom of the megaplex, model bavior, now you see it, pixel perfect, eddies million dollar cook off, cheetah girls, zeenon, Halloween town, moms gotta date with a vamp.stuck in the suburbs, luck of the irish, jonny tsunami and *kidsWB* like digimon, pokemon, yugioh, sonic, anamaniacs, ozzy and drix, jackie chan adventures, mucha lucha, xoulin showdown *one saturday mornings/abckids* like recess, fillmore, teachers pet, teamo supremo, lloyd in space, weekenders, pepper ann, sabrina the animated series, buzz lightyear of star command ...yep the childhood of a 90s baby was awesome people like to say everything went down hill after the 90s but the 00s was awesome too especially the late 90s/early-mid00's when us early-mid 90s babies was growing up when we still had awesome toys and waking up early for saturday morning cartoons still meant something to a kid
taliah johnson thank you, I want that old thing back
SSGSS Gogeta Im 18 and i agree. The only reason i would say about 2008-2010 that it died because KND, Fosters and Billy and Mandy had to conclude.
+History Teacher Also 18 but I have to add there are a few shows after 2010 that were GREAT (Young Justice) and good/okay (Sym-Bionic Titan, Generator Rex, Ben 10: Alien Force).
Oryon Cahn True
+taliah johnson how did it went downhill at 2006?
The timeline of Cartoon Network:
The retro & legacy era (1992 - 2006)
The downfall era (2007 - 2011)
The revival era (2012 - Present)
2011*-now
Tbh, I enjoy every show going on right now about from the powderpuff girls reboot.
1992-1996 was the early age of CN known as the Checkerboard era. 1997-2004 was the golden age of CN known as the Powerhouse era. 2004-2006 was the silver age of CN known as the City era. The downfall/dark age era of CN was 2007-2009 during the Fall & Noods. The revival era of CN was from 2010-2013 which was a Renaissance Age due to Adventure Time & Regular Show being the top 2 shows along with Young Justice being on the air and much more, and since 2014-present it's been some weird bronze age with the same repetitive schedule, despite still being some high quality shows on the air. CN just lacks so much variety these days.
These days, Cartoon Network isn't exactly in revival; it's more in another downfall.
2004 - 2006 ihs güd.
what CN needs to do to revive its reputatation are these steps
1. get rid of uncle grandpa, sonic boom, johnny test
2. bring back fan favorite shows
(ppg, ctcd, dexter labratory, knd) you know shows that are a fan favorites
3. come up with a better theme than check it(like bring a theme that makes characters interacticribg with each other similair to CN CITY
Sonic boom can stay. and johnny test is gone.
sonic boom sucks i tried watching it could not get past 5 minutes im just glad its set in an alternate world and not in the main one
rodolfo velazquez Well I like it.
i know but still dont like it like come on wat the hell did they do too knuckles, amy and shadow(rise of the lyric) i mean they kept sonic, tails the same so theres that what im saying is that the redesigns didnt bother me(well technically its not since sonic boom is set in an alternate world) what bothers me is the story and the unbearable personallitys in the characters(excluding sonic and tails)
yeah i guess
The City era was incredibly innovative and creative. The Powerhouse era was my favourite though, I wish you guys could speak on that period. Otherwise, great discussion.
Cartoon network today:
Good shows:
Regular show
Amazing World Of Gumball
Bad shows:
Everything else
Ismael I you missed steven universe on the good list.
Troll Dad i don't like that show, its like a powerful copy of clarence
Ismael I Really? Clarence? Not even close, you just see a fat kid as a main character and go "ITS THE SAME A DUR HUR". it has a plot, and it has magic, but it doesn't go overboard, and the songs are amazing as well.
I really don't care who the main character is or if he has powers! All i know is that shows like Clarence, Steven universe and Uncle Grampa killed CN and is the reason people think its dead. Shows like regular show, Gumball and loony tunes are classic and really entertaining! But i must say all cartoon music are amazing....
***** That's good!...

Quote of the _Cartoon Network RANT: When did CN REALLY die? (Feat. MonstersReview)_ video at 6:57
*"Whether or not you do like these specific shows or not, the death of an entire network does not rely on the addition of 5 or 6 bad shows. The death of a network relies whenever it has completely turned its back on everything that it originated and everything that it used to be."*
^^^^ THIS QUOTE is what all the rose colored nostalgic 90's kids (born around 1983-1992) need to realize. No offense to all of them, but I find the majority of the people who claim that CN died in 2004 to be judging by their favorite shows from their childhood leaving the network, greenlit shows that debuted in the era that they tend to hate, a few block changes or shifts, a logo change, etc. which are all nostalgic petty reasons, when nostalgia is going to be in the way of your arguments 90% of the time, you will never have a valid point.
For me, Cartoon Network died at the same time they removed Toonami completely from the roster, but even then, I suppose I still had Adult Swim and a lot of the normal shows were still fun and interesting, so I can't pinpoint an exact time. I just know that when Toonami left, I wasn't TOO far behind.
That was 2008 when it was removed.
Sounds about right.
same here, when toonami did away with dbz, gundam wing, reboot, sailor moon, outlaw star, tenchi muyo, the epic era.
Peter Bautista 2008 it defiantly sounds about the right time CN went to shit. They started to show live action shows and "lol, so random!" style cartoons.
Just ran across this video in a totally unrelated Google search.
Cartoon Network died when their best creators left for other studios, other careers, or moved up to management positions at Cartoon Network itself and stopped making shows. There is no replacement for McCracken or Tartakovsky, and it doesn't seem like they'd really tried to replace them anyway.
Even 10 years later this video still holds up/aged well.
Here's what I think (this is my opinion, not that anyone has to agree):
1992-1995: Early Days/Bronze Age (decent but nothing special)
1996-2004: Golden Age
2005-mid 2007: Silver Age (started to decline but still good)
late 2007-2009: Dark Age
2010-2015: Renaissance Era
2016-present: 2nd Dark Age
I think the reason people say Cartoon Network died in 2004 was because the Cartoon Cartoons era ended, a lot of popular Cartoon Cartoons came to an end (Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, etc.), and the network slowly began leaning towards live-action (they started playing live action movies such as Osmosis Jones and Who Framed Roger Rabbit sometime in 2005, and in December 2006 came the network's first live-action original movie: Re-Animated). Nevertheless, the network still maintained a healthy variety of shows, other popular Cartoon Cartoons like Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Codename: Kids Next Door stayed, as well as popular blocks such as Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Toonami. I think the Cartoon Network Dark Age officially began once Fried Dynamite, Out of Jimmy's Head, and the Fall Bumpers debuted in September 2007, and things got even worse in September 2008 when Toonami ended. 2009 was Cartoon Network at it's absolute worst, and I say that because that's the year CN Real launched, notable cartoonists like Craig McCracken left, and by the time Ed, Edd n Eddy ended in November of that year, all the original Cartoon Cartoons were completely gone. Thankfully, CN Real ended sometime in early 2010 and new shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show came to the scene, and they both had a massive impact on Cartoon Network at the time (introducing new cartoonists like Pendleton Ward and J.G. Quintel). Therefore, the network enjoyed a renaissance from 2010-2015.
But now it's 2018, and Teen Titans Go takes up a majority of the schedule, suffocating the popularity of other shows and moving them over to Boomerang (which also sucks now), therefore resulting in a 2nd Cartoon Network Dark Age.
GetShr8kt are you disappointed that you only got 1 like?

I've watched Cartoon Network my whole life, ever since I was in Headstart... I am now a Senior in high school and I still watch it. Yes, I miss the 1999-2007 but I also like Regular Show and Adventure Time and still watch those. I still have respect for CN, when they did their 20th birthday special, i'm sure it meant a lot to viewers of our generation.
CN got better,in my opinion. They still have Regular Show and Gumball, they brought back new episodes of Adventure Time,Clarence and WBB are pretty good imo,and Steven Universe is amazing (but it's fanbase is horrible). I don't care about Uncle Grandpa, and finally,Teen Titans GO needs to die. CN Real is when Cartoon Network "died",and 2012 is when it was "revived."
2012?, 2012 is live action, in 2013 it did
Finally, someone that actually thinks it came back...
+diddy kong pointing at an unknown object with his hat on backwards ikr
Cartoon Network didn't die until they stopped showing re-runs. They still showed re-runs of ed edd and eddy, courage the cowardly dog, and shows like that until like 2010/2011.
Doesn’t change the fact that CN sucks now.
Ed, Edd, N Eddy
Teen Titans
Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
Megas XLR
Juniper Lee
Xiaolin Showdown
Miss those the most :(
Katy Lepetsos I know right, they’re just another nick jr now lol
Raydog 97 Exactly
Looking back, I suppose there were a few cracks in the 2004-2006 era, but overall there were a lot of cartoons airing during that time that I really liked. Hell, even from the 1999-2003 era there were shows that I couldn't stand. Toonami was awesome, Miguzi was pretty good (other than that HORRIBLE Totally Spies show), they were still airing older cartoons, and even several of the newer shows were really good. I think the first serious sign of the downfall was that Re-animated movie (if you haven't seen it, basically the prequel of sorts to Out of Jimmy's Head). I don't care what anyone says, that movie was the WORST thing I've ever seen on CN. And it was a pretty good indicator of what was to come. I kinda tuned out of CN around 2007-2008, afterwards making a few visits, but not really watching all the time like I used to. By then, most of the good stuff was the older cartoons. I guess a lot of it was me just growing up, but there was also the live action shit and newer animated shows that just didn't grab me. And then they just started showing less and less of it.
Also, is that the fucking Annoying Orange on the CN logo? WHY? Those are some of the worst youtube videos of all time, and now it's a show that's actually airing on Cartoon Network? Jeez, this network really is dead now.
I wouldn't say that, Steven Universe is pretty good. I also agree about Annoying Orange but if you think about it, it's just making money for them, they don't even care about AO because its getting the worse timeslot and the fact that barely anyone watches the show. Pretty much it's just a cash cow that CN doesn't have to worry because the creators of the show put their money in so CN doesn't even need to pay.
@@loawespotatoee4586 The 3rd Cartoon Network (2010-2013) is dead, when it was Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny by Warner Bros and Merrie Melodies!!!💔😭
I agree. I loved CN City, but the Powerhouse era (1992-2004) will always have a special spot in my heart.
My favorite era of cartoon shows from Cartoon Network high peakness was between the years of 2000-2015 (I was born in the beginning of 2000 year).
I'm getting sick and tired of people saying that Cartoon Network died in 2004, Cartoon Network started getting better back in 2010
2004 > da behst.
Not really more live action shows like Unnatural History and Tower Prep came out that year.
I've said it time and time again, the Powerhouse Era was the best time for Cartoon Network. There was every cartoon for every audience, brilliant and funny bumpers, everything just felt perfect so idk why they had to start getting rid of shows. 2004 wasn't the "death", but it definitely started the beginning of the downfall. I just hope within these next 5 years, CN will bring back their beloved and long missed cartoons.
Sebizzar I agree with you on that.
I disagree on that, think about new generation kids, they'll never stack that in our favor. Their promotion is child based, not adult based, not matter how we slice it or dice it. CN is more kid friendly based than adult based, despite its current cartoons set for relevance for ALL ages from child to adult, yet more focused on kids. No matter what we demanded, it'll less likely happen.
The old Cartoon Network: the place where we can savor our childhood.
The new Cartoon Network: where childhood shows get banished to the island of misfit cartoons
I though cn died in 2007
That wasnt until 2010
CN died on their actual channel. Boomerang just plays reruns. Here are 10 things that killed CN.
10. They replaced Tom and Jerry with a new one.
9. YJ got canceled.
8. Teen Titans Go.
7. Beware the Batman
6. Nothing for Justice League anymore.
5. No new good shows overall.
4. Chance for sequel to "Teen Titans" wasted. \
3. Not just no good new shows but no new shows at all.
2. No new movies or parks to get them more money.
1. I know this basically sums up from the last shows I mentioned but.... thr DC shows that CN had kinda killed CN. Lemme explain. CN had Two Justice League shows a while ago. Enjoyably ones at that and they ended. CN came out tiwh the Brave and The Bold. A cheesy, poorly voice acted, poorly organized, poorly thought out, kid tailored show. One stab to the heart. YJ came out. A much more serious, fun, interesting show that could be watched by all ages and follows a storyline instead of random episode after random episode. Clearing up a bit of the wounds. YJ was cancelled. NOOOO!!! Beware the Batman came. Ugh..... Teen Titans Go comes. Yeah, I didn't watch that show at all. CN needs to pick up.
and Adventure Time being cancelled.
Young Justice:Revolution returns to Facebook, more darker than ever before.
Batman No, this is what actually killed Cartoon Network.
6. Justice League and Teen Titans ended in 2006, unfortunately, they were not renewed for other seasons in 2007.
5. In 2007, pretty much all of the Cartoon Cartoons & Cartoon Network originals from the 90s-2005 ended there original runs, Ed Edd n Eddy, Codename Kids Next Door, and Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy were the last ones to end in 2007. Ed Edd n Eddy returned in 2009 for its series finale but only ONE time, Ed Edd n Eddy stopped making new episodes in 2007. Same for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends as well. Cartoon Network started getting rid of it's original shows and replacing them by Teletoon/Canadian imported shows & other acquired shows that were extremely lame (except for Total Drama that was the only decent Teletoon show)
4. In 2007, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays/Cartoon Network Fridays got replaced by Fried Dynamite and the Dynamite Action Squad.
3. TOM4 replaced TOM3 which led to Toonami's downfall & lack of programming, and eventually it's cancellation in 2008.
2. The 2007 Boston Bomb Scare, Jim Samples steps down as CN president and get's replaced by Stuart Synder.
1. The worst era in CN history, the Fall era, or the "Fall Is Something That Grownups Invented" era from 2007, that's when Stuart Synder first took full strike of CN, that's when CN started doing most of its live action bumpers and promos which eventually led to all the CN Real crap that eventually hit the network in 2009.
Batman I believe a lot of people consider todays CN era, the Check IT era worse than what it actually is, but at least the Check IT era did everything it could to bring brought back CN to it's glory. In 2009 during the Nood era, Stuart Synder's evil plans were finally on the top. CN Real was taking over the network, it was the first full year without Toonami in several years, so many live action movies, CN was just down and so dead in 2009 like there was no hope. But when the Check IT era started in 2010, it was like its revival, although still has waaays to go and it's still not that good. CN finally brought in some new CN originals again that were hits, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Sym-botic Titan, Young Justice, Toonami's return (adult swim), Cartoon Planet, etc. and now eventually no more live-action shows for good. Yes, I know some of those shows I mentioned have already ended but at least the Check IT era has tried to bring back CN. But the biggest flaws with The Check IT era is that they still lack variety and lack so many amazing blocks. Like the bumpers and the promos are extremely boring and unappealing these days. The Check IT era was capable and had a lot of talent, but wasted those opportunities. Like creating the Teen Titans GO crap, that was complete BS. Cancelling Young Justice and the DC nation block. Replacing them with crappy shows like Incredible Crew, Problem Solverz, Secret Mount Fort Awesome, etc, but at least those shows are cancelled now thank God. The Check IT era of CN has done some great things to bring back CN, but they've really made some bad decisions as well. Cartoon Network today is still really bad, they lack variety, marathons of the same shows over and over again. No new movies, same old reincarnation of stuff. But anyways, Stuart Synder is gone now, we have that new female president.
Besides, don't blame what's happened to CN in the Check IT era or even the Nood era too. Blame the Fall era back in 2007. The Fall era was like the "Ebola" era for Cartoon Network, it put a permanent virus on CN that still can't be recovered to this day. When the "Fall Is Something That Grownups Invented" era began, that's when Stuart Synder took force of CN for the first time. Cartoon Cartoon Fridays/Cartoon Network Fridays after it's long 8 year run got replaced by Fried Dynamite. TOM 4 and Toonami got screwed up and eventually led to it's cancellation in 2008. Most of the Cartoon Cartoons & CN originals started getting replaced by Teletoon/Canadian imported shows. All of the bumpers and promos got replaced by more of a live action type look and feel to the network, which led to CN Real and live action movies airing the network later on. The Fall era for Cartoon Network was the worst era in CN history, the first main era by Stuart Synder that released an Ebola onto Cartoon Network that still can't be cured to this day.
So when people say Cartoon Network died in 2003, or 2004, they are lying to you. Cartoon Network still had many variety of shows & blocks during the City era, cartoons were still interacting with each other in the amazing city & there was still lots of variety of shows to enjoy. Honestly, in my opinion, Cartoon Network's downfall started in 2006 when the YES era began because of Out of Jimmy's Head, Squirrel Boy, and My Gym Partner's a Monkey, plus, the YES Era is around the time most of the Cartoon Cartoons got moved to the CN Top 5 only. However, CN was still had enjoyable shows to watch like Code Lyoko, Foster's Home, Ed Edd n Eddy, Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Xialin Showdown, Totally Spies, Teen Titans, Justice League Unlimited, etc. Although I still prefer the Powerhouse era over any era that existed on CN. No other era will ever be as great as the Powerhouse era was. But between the Powerhouse & City eras it's a really close one. Remember, there is a difference between downfall & death. Downfall is when a channel STARTS to get bad, but the channel is still good or somewhat watchable. Death is when the channel is no longer watchable and the channel has terrible shows, terrible blocks, and no variety on the network. That's what happened to Cartoon Network when the Fall era began in 2007. So blame Stuart Synder and the Fall era for killing Cartoon Network.
Jack Peterson Adventure Time never got cancelled, that show is still alive and well, their new season premiere just hasn't occurred yet, I don't know where you got that from.
I don't know about everyone else but I liked flapjack and chowder. It felt like old cartoon network to me and then uncle grandpa and gumball came out and Cartoon network just fucking killed itself.
At least we got adventure time.
Nick Forsythe And regular show.
Chowder and Flapjack was my favorite shows of their time!
i used to love chowder but you have to admit chowder got a bit eh towards the end
ecoropoticsam j Yeah the older episodes are better.
This video was a nostalgia trip for me, good job guys
I think CN really started to go down hill in 2009. CN Real was the end of an era and the beginning of the dark ages. Then they started to bring cartoons back, and things were mostly as they should be. I hated TTG for a while until i realized it works as a comedy, but not really as Teen Titans. The only shows i really like now are Regular Show, Steven Universe, Gumball, and Adventure time.
I wish I knew future cartoons would go bad but I didn't know about it until it was too late
I'm interested in entertainment for fun, I don't want to shitty programs that mimic teen sitcoms
Why can't I go back in time and correct my mistake!?
Cartoon Network officially died after around the end of Flapjack, and Chowder in 2010 in my opinion.
Why wasn't this spread to all fans who loved cartoons for fun without teen sitcom!?
It died in 2011. Regular Show was the last decent show. Amazing World of Gumball was the new era of CN's grave. Now look what happened. I bet CN's body has rotten away since Uncle Grandpa started. So sad...
R.I.P. Courage the Cowardly Dog and Codename, I'll miss you:(
Adventure time? Steven Universe?
Kinky_Hooves
I know it's my opinion, but Adventure Time was made in 2010 and it was ok, but I said 2011-present. 2010 cartoons do not count. Steven Universe in my opinion, was not good. It was the best cartoon of 2013, but it was mediocre at best.
So, Your mostly a hater of morden Cartoon network.
Kinky_Hooves
Yep.
Wow.
But it never died......it just altered it's parameters. By what insane definition is a channel still airing today "dead"?
It doesn't matter when it stopped airing your favorite cartoons, it doesn't matter when it started airing live action (Do Banana Splits or Big Bag ring any bells?), it doesn't even matter if you don't like the bump layout......it's on the air, it's alive.
And here's the definition of "death".
death deTH/noun
noun: death; plural noun: deaths
-the action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.
"I don't believe in life after death"
-the state of being dead.
"even in death, she was beautiful"
-the permanent ending of vital processes in a cell or tissue.
Kenneth Cranham Have you ever seen a movie or TV show, where a good character grows and eventually becomes a bad character? People ask, "What happened to you? You've changed." To which they respond, "The old me is dead. This is the new me."
Does that make any sense if you follow the definition of death? No. However, it does have a deeper meaning. As the character turned his back on everything he used to be and changed his entire persona, the old him is now dead. You /can/ use the same thing here.
Cartoon Network /has/ changed over time. It /has/ become a shallow shell of what it used to be. It's scheduling /is/ crap. The promos /are/ unoriginal. They /have/ become bland. Cartoon Network used to be that person that, while everyone in a hallway was walking forward, he'd be walking backward. They never used to be afraid to do anything out of the norm, or take risks. But now they've become so boring, so... so... wack.
Fact is, things /are/ different. Is the Cartoon Network channel dead? No, obviously, it's still airing. However... Is the Cartoon Network I grew up watching dead? Yes.
***** No one's talking about the shows. The scheduling is the worst part.
Maybe,he is trying to say that it did not die,he could be trying to say cartoon network"died" as instead of a variety of cartoons it became only like 6-7 cartoons per day I think,And that was then the time IT STARTED PRODUCING CRAP AND SHIT.I know they COULD have tried their best to make it a hit but it just spilled CRAP AND SHIT EVERYWHERE!!!!!
Kenneth Cranham Its brain dead then. The bodys still there its just on life support
Well, in my opinion, when TTG gets cancelled, then CN has a chance of getting revived by the sweetness of steven universe, the action of adventure time, the comedy of gumball, and the slices of life of regular show! but the atrocity they call "Teen Titans GO!" must die.
I think it died when they started making remakes
I may be extremely late on this, over the last several months, I have watched this video over and over again, and I have agreed with this video. I do not think CN died in 2004, hell no, not even close, the death of a network is not about a few block changes and cartoons from the old generation (or your childhood) getting replaced by new ones. The death of a network is when it turns its back on what it was originally created for, which didn't happen to CN until 2007. Although, I do NOT think 2004-2006 during the City were the best years compared to the Powerhouse years (which I honestly believe was the true golden age of CN), however, the City years were still great years that couldn't have come at a better time and I'd take the variety of shows that was still around then unlike the lack of variety today. However, for those who didn't notice, there is a big huge ERROR in this video, about the president of CN. Jim Samples was not the original president of CN nor founder. Ted Turner was the founder of CN and Betty Cohen was the original president from 1992-2001, and Jim Samples was the 2nd president of CN that came around late 2001 until he resigned in 2007. Then when Stuart Snyder came, the rest was history. I just wanted to throw out that correction. That's the biggest mistake made in this video, but other than that. I've always agreed with this video for most of the part though.
Of course, Discovery itself will not die. It has said that it does not want to expand only to streaming but also to television. It continues to surprise me how people do not get tired of inventing nonsense.
CN 'died' in the same sense that your childhood 'died'. Because you grew out of it.
Face it, the target audience is the 8-14 audience. The kids and the tweens. Which you people are not.
Daniel Pino
Most people as in who?
Daniel Pino 2003-2006 was the best time ever.i mean they realy had the same thing if you go back in look
***** you just proved a point i always make, "Spongebob used to be funny and creative, now it's annoying and childish dumber "is because they are running out of ideas for the show., and this probably would have happened too if all the classic cartoons were still around.
Spongebob is babyish
I'm 14... The new shit sucks except Adventure Time.
That's why I watch Boomerang
they barely have any old shows anymore but all the good shows are at night
+Corn Flakes yeah
dexters laboratory is on every night now
yeah Pokémon dexter Billy and mandy codename kids next door tim and Jerry and more
+OhYeah MrKrabs yeah, and they ducks play Teen Titans GO there instead of the original classic! 😠
Underfist aired in October of 2008, just 11 months after Chowder premiered on November 2nd, 2007.
I miss all the old cartoons... Now you can only see them for 1 hour, 1 day a week? That's just sad. I miss Flapjack, The Powerpuff Girls, Kids Next Door, Teen Titans, and I could name just about a million more. Why can't we just have a channel separate from Cartoon Network that plays ONLY the old cartoons, no Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, Teen Titans Go, etc.?
Hang on, 1 hour, 1 day a week?
Now I'm curious when that time is.
Dang it I forgot when it was cause my memory is horrible. :C Sorry man..
There is a channel called Boomerang, and it is made by carton network. You can watch all if their old shows there. Not just the ones from our childhood, but also old school ones from our parents' childhood. If you have cable, then you hear that channel. It's channel 439, the channel before cartoon network (if you have digital cable that is).
Megumi Fukuhara I do remember looking at it, but I didn't see any of the Cartoon Cartoons on it. :|
Jak Saward they're on, but they dont come on until later at night i think.
To be honest I think cartoon network died in 2010
I also think they should play reruns of these shows, but no all cartoon network plays all day every day is the same shit. Would it kill you to just have a throwback Thursday and play the classics? bring back action shows too.
***** Ppg won't have original voice actors for most characters in the show.
***** I heard the power puff girls will have hands, actual hands. not round nubs
It died in 2006. That was when the last *new* episode of Justice League Unlimited aired.
I can't see any shows aired past 2010 on CN these days.
Ikr it's terrible
true
ToadBrawler Regular Show is the only good one and now it's gone too.
Hey At Least We Have The Amazing World Of Gumball It A Good Show With Its Mix of CGI Characters And Non-CGI Characters Plus Good Backgrounds Now But It Going To End Soon Like Regular Show Had. :( :(
WizardMinecraft2 WizardMinecraft2 there is also adventure time its so awesome but honestly 2018 when at and gumball end CN is over
Rebel taxi actually pointed out that CN Real was the darkest age of cartoon network which was 2009-2010 no new cartoons were shown, the network gave up and decided cartoon network needed live action! I'm grateful for adventure time regular show. They were a step in the right direction then next thing u know cartoon network started to gain momentum again,
slaymaster999 Yes, Then a gigantic leap, which was steven universe, popped up, and i have a good feeling about We Bare Bears.
Yeah, i do agree. The liveaction stuff is easily the worst. At least nowadays they show ACTUAL CARTOONS, even if there's not that much variety.
It died when Adventure time and Regular show ended
I love the new shows(okay some Gumball, Regular Show Adventure time just to name a few) and i don't believe CN is dead...yet. It's in a coma, and we need to get these original shows back. KND is trying to make a come back, MegaXL has a huge cult following, and Danny Antonucci is giving out hints of Ed Edd n Eddy making a come back
Bro CN and Adult Swim still show reruns of shows from 2007 down here even Toonami has the same shows every saturday with differnet anime every week but then drop the anime and goes back to the same naruto bleach one piece schedule
Is It Weird That I Remember The Powerhouse AND The City Era? I Was Born In Early 2003 And I Remember These
+MS-903 Doraemon The Power House Era Ended From 1997-2003
+MS-903 Doraemon HAHAHA!
I loved the city era. That's when Cartoon Cartoon Fridays were still out, Miguzi aired on Sundays - Fridays, plus Toonami was still good because they aired my reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball Z. Those were the days !!! Cartoon Network needs to bring Miguzi and Cartoon Planet back
I was born somewhere between 1989 and 1990, so I've been growing up with Cartoon Network for some time and enjoyed their programming from back then. However, I have grown attached to several of their currents shows as well, and I'll say right here...I don't care what flack I get...but The Amazing World of Gumball is my all-time favorite CN show.
though it's not my favorite, my three favorites are Gumball, Regular show and Steven Universe. each have they're own personality and each have great animation.
Agreed.
"They needed to end". Well, Teen Titans Go needs to end. That show is just garbage. And honestly, I think they can give Scooby Doo a rest.
Mystery Inc. was great, it was a nice change from the standard Scooby Doo content. I do agree about TTG though, they're airing it WAY too much. It can have it's moments but goddamn, FIX YOUR FUCKING SCHEDULING CN, TTG isn't the only cartoon in existence. And they do have good shows they can air instead of that. Sure, there's not AS many good shows as before, but it is better than the live-action era from 2009-2010.
@@vynonyoutube1418 not only TTG airs way too much, the show hogs up too much time slots!
it died exactly on April 1, 2013 when Teen Titans Go! premiered.
R.I.P.
1992-2013
gone but not forgotten...
Sadly it cams out on April fools day and we thought it was a damn joke. Boy were we wrong.
Sorry for the mis-spelling, typing too fast.
Rooooooooobotboy want re-boot!
Robotboy want re-boot!
Cyber Kirby oh, little boy, don't you know what happened to the Teen Titans? Do you really want to spawn in another atrocity reboot?
Troll Dad That's for them to judge, not you.
Cyber Kirby TTG is terrible, it's true.
Troll Dad Amen.
Who the hell wants to see Clarence!? It's a idiotic show
And I want the orignal back but Steven universe and don't judge will stay
But il relax to samurai jack BC the voice of Aku passed away
The first decade of the 2000's was fun, after everything was heading to an abyss. I don't understand why people say years after 2004 or 2005 everything was shitty. Think about, the first decade of the 2000's was actually pretty good and after that.... Let's just say I wish I was born in the 90's
Braulio Alvarez Uh, the 2000's *were* a whole decade.
Tommy Dee Yahhhhh mannn!!!!!!!
Braulio Alvarez Yeah remember toonami or camp lazlo
Joe Johnson i do, and it was awsome :)
I Was Born In 1993 The Golden Age Of Cartoon Network
CN summer of 2005, oh the nostalgia, I remember the good old summer days, when after playing outside I started to sweat, blast the AC on and watch some summer 2005, I remember the "Last day of summer" ads, really sad.
...Thank you for making me wanna cry after reading that...
Abbey Mcmillan No problem
Yeah well no matter what I can still kick more ass than my pussy ass uncle that I for no logical reason look up to
***** I did you a favor, why would you watch a group of pussys run away from people in haloween costumes, taking them 20 minutes to figure out that monsters and ghosts aren't real... only a billion times over... yep, when I stepped in, it was a little bit of that crap with a touch of my famous scrappy traps, and then it was a course of real monsters and ghosts, something logical to be afraid of, which I still wasn't
***** Le me addem, le me addem!
Some people would say Cartoon Network died in 2000 because they stopped airing old HB cartoons.
Personally, I think it's gone through two deaths, with a third coming soon.
2004 had ended what people had loved with traditional shows only, as well as the old rectangle logo. This had caused quite a few people to leave due to new coming shows like, at the time, Chowder and Flapjack (I'll elaborate later), which had broken what they loved and had changed, showing their need or greed for money.
This was the first death of Cartoon Network.
During 2005-2006, some of the new shows, after some warm up time, like Flapjack and Chowder, had actually become rather liked by lots, and finally for good reason. Fortunately, what I call "The Big Three" for CN would be Codename KND, Billy and Mandy, and, my favourite, EE'nE, as well as a few other great shows, as well as reruns of famous classics were running by. This pleased a lot of people, as it had brought back what they loved, as well as new spices for the course.
2009, however, was the breaking point. Live Action, as well as real-world on CARTOON Network was airing more frequently, few shows remained, and by this time, the final big one, EE'nE with Big Picture Show had aired and finished the series, with I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S and either Heartburn or Underfist (depending on which you consider) ending a year prior. This was repeating 5 years in advance once more, with Gumball and Regular show coming in. At the time, due to our feelings prior and not wanting _this_ to take over the channel, as well as the cubes the logo is today, we hated them, and at the time, they had gone to an extremely rocky start. With forever shows ending, and current era shows beginning poorly, this brought down our souls once again, and we all believe it had to happen sooner or later.
This was the second death of Cartoon Network.
After easing in for about 4 years, Gumball remained random, but lots had come to love it, as well as Adventure Time, another new show. I may hate the latter with a passion, but even I can see some of its funny moments, but I just don't like it overall. Anyhow, Regular Show had accustomed to our society, as well as improved *immensely* since first airing, and had reigned king for years, and finally had reason to do so! Still don't like some early concepts though...
Steven Universe, as well as anything like that, are shows I despise, but understand and respect reason for their popularity. And from what I've heard from 2 friends almost every 3 days, it gets deep. I like that. Either way, it's begun its rise and has become as famous as Gumball. Most hope that if this is what our society likes, keep it like this.
However, there are some horrifiers, like Teen Titans GO! and Uncle Grandpa still roaming the network, and although _very_ young people, may like it, their main audience, who have even given birth to a new generation, hate these for their lack of a plot, disappointing lines that kill us inside bit by bit, and above all, just complete and utter stupidness. One could only hope this was all that was on the channel.
And then came cancellation.
Regular show is due to either cancel now, 1/3 of the way through season 8, or when said season is finished. For reigning king for years now, though not as long as a couple others, still for a while, this broke a large number of hearts, as now, compared to before, didn't want it to finish now, but concluded fairly that this was the best _to_ finish it. Every good show on now is getting cancelled, reactivating the cycle we all dread.
Regular show is soon to finish, Gumball is to end after Season 6, the same way Ed Edd 'n Eddy did, Adventure time doesn't even apparently air anymore than once or twice every one or two days. Soon enough, they'll be depending on two things left on the channel that are actually *GOOD* for them: Steven Universe (which hasn't even ordered in more seasons past 5, apparently) and reruns of their shows just cancelled and possibly older. When push comes to shove, Cartoon Network has always decimated the wrong programs. They've done it again, but this time, they've gone too far, and, compared to the other ones, which had reruns of their older shows, _truly_ left only their bad ones left.
The third death of Cartoon Network is nigh, and all three generations know it well.
I didn't really like Cow and Chicken... The art looked weird.
Under fist, Died in 2015
Definately agreed, the downfall and ending of cartoon shows from Cartoon Network died in the end year of 2015 to entirety year of 2016.
In my opinion Cartoon Network started the downfall of cartoon shows falling from grace and died in 2016.
The reason CN sucks is because of the creator of Aqua Teens.
He posted some LED light boards of one of there characters and people thought it was a bomb and a bomb squad had to get involved, Cn's old president had to quit because he felt responsible for the incident.
And did you not hear the story of him quitting last year after a 7-year run?
+Nicholas Bloxxer f*ck you raider
MD SHARIFUL KARIM CHOWDHURY
M8 wat? Lol
I love how 4 years later spongebob, and fairly odd parents are still going on and the amazing world of gumball is one of the best shows ever
This was made in 2013, before Steven Universe and We Bare Bears, I wonder what they'd say now.
I would disagree.I think Steven UNiverse is incomparable to the other shows because it has affected many thing in the real world.
+Joshua Pichardo I agree that only two is sad compared to how it used to be, but let's just be grateful for what we have and what we have are two good shows. And who knows, maybe they'll get their shit together in the future and we'll see even more good shows.
2 shows. How many shows did we get from good CN?
Antasma1 Idk but SU helps real world so
Xavier Spiess It does? How?
Even if CN brought back classics like PPG, EEnE, etc.(Like some of you are saying in the comments) People would still complain, saying its "Not as good as the original" kinda like Teen Titans Go!
Besides, CN has good shows today: Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Gumball, etc.
Just because your childhood is over, doesn't mean the channel sucks. CN did have a short time where it sucked, but it got out of that hole around 2010.
Except Teen Titans Go is /nothing like/ the original. Fans are bitching for an understandable reason.
TheCartoonZone The issue with CN is most of the shows have no plot (events don't matter in the long run) it is all forced comedy. Plus it has four shows on regular line-up all day everyday...
FutureGohanSSJ2
Yes, It is nothing like the original, but technically, CN did bring it back, but look how well that turned out
Jack Schwantes
Non Story arc cartoons aren't bad, Gumball is a pretty good show along with Regular show, They are also pretty funny.
But I agree, They play the same goddamn stuff all the time (Teen Titans Go, Gumball and Clarence is what I mostly see when looking at whats on)
TheCartoonZone Yeah, but the ones you mentioned are the only good shows (Regular show is also in there) and when CN brings a good show back, it makes such a huge atrocity, just like TTG.
We miss the old shows
But why doesn't anyone ever get to know that cartoons will change at the end of the decade just be alert not wanting to go overboard!?
I don’t know
Adventure Time brought CN out of it's 2007-2009 depression in 2010. This video was made in 2013 which would be a dream year for CN compared to now in 2018, Cartoon Network's second depression. At least there's other ways to watch CN's backlog with streaming giving television a run for it's money.

In all honesty, I think Cartoon Network died about 2010-2012 when they stopped giving a crap and just gave out LSD induced shows (I'm looking at you, Uncle Grandpa)
Here's how I think they could straighten up:
1. Get rid of uncle grandpa and Teen Titans Go!
2. Try to slowly bring the kid of today in with the old shows (Say have one episode from old shows play on holidays and then move on from there)
3. Maybe try to continue on shows that had cliff hangers, like KND. (seriously, am I the only one who doesn't get the last episode?)
Finally 4. SHOW THAT THEY THINK THE AUDIENCE HAS INTELLIGENCE!!!
I just stopped watching Cartoon Network completely around the time shows like The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Chowder ended, there just wasn't anything keeping me from coming back to the network anymore which really sucked, eventually I just stopped going to the channel completely. It broke my heart when Ed Edd n Eddy ended, it's still my favorite cartoon of all time.
no, don't watch them online, watching them all online, could get them cancelled, because if the show aren't getting view's on TV, it could be cancelled
Detona Tesoni still, by not watching it on TV, the creators can't make money
me two
oscar rocks
Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends was by far the saving grace cartoon show that revived the life of Cartoon Network during the 2000s running for 6 seasons 78 episodes 2 special movies and 5 years.
THANK YOU FutureGohanSSJ2 and MonstersReview! if they wanted change they should do it right you know! why did they up and throw the progress they had away....R.I.P Cartoon Network

So, following by the butthurt fan's logic, shouldn't Cartoon Network have died in 2002?
Nostalgia Works Nope, wrong, that's the biggest problem with some of these nostalgia idiots. Cartoon Network was about VARIETY, ORIGINALITY, and CREATIVITY!!! The biggest cartoon stars, rather they were Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Cartoon Cartoons, Kids WB cartoons, Cartoon Network originals they may not be Cartoon Cartoons, MOVIES, anime, etc. Cartoon Cartoons being on a network does not define how good a channel is. Cartoon Cartoon Fridays getting replaced by Cartoon Network Fridays does not mean a channel died, most people don't even realize why CCF got replaced by CNF, it was for the better, but y'all are ignorant and don't understand why they had to change the name. In 2003, Teen Titans, Justice League, and What's New Scooby-Doo got added to the Fridays block along with what they already had so CN could offer more variety on the block, they weren't Cartoon Cartoons, so what was the point of calling it Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, that's why they changed the name, to add more variety. Yes, the cartoons no longer interacted with each other, but keep in mind, that was from 2000-2003. When CCF first premiered in 1999, it was hosted by live-action people during its very first year, I bet nobody tends to complain about that. Some people say all the Hanna-Barbera cartoons were all moved to Boomerang at once in 2004, not true either. Now the popular ones like Looney Tunes, Flintstones, Scooby-Doo Where Are You, or Smurfs were moved from Cartoon Network to Boomerang in 2004. But some like Tom & Jerry stayed on CN well after 2004. There are some Hanna-Barbera cartoons like Josie & the Pussy Cats, Top Cat, or George of the Jungle (1967) that were taken off the air back in 1999 or 2000. The majority of all Hanna-Barbera cartoons were taken off Cartoon Network around 1999, 2000, or 2001, while the popular ones still remained on there until 2004. Remember how during the YES! Era in 2006, some of the earlier Cartoon Cartoons were taken off and moved to Cartoon Network Top 5. Well, back in the Powerhouse Era, there were many Hanna-Barbara cartoons that got taken off and got moved to Cartoon-A-Doodle-Doo block or Boomerang block. So when people are so biased about these times of Cartoon Network, they're not telling the truth. It's about variety and originality of great blocks and shows. Toonami was still on Cartoon Network past 2004 and still had much variety of action shows. Most anime has always been considered as an action show. Fighting, villains, dark plots, that's all considered as action whether it's anime or not. Many of the Cartoon Cartoons were still showing repeats and some new ones going on past 2004 as well. The bumpers and promos were great fo the City era. The Powerhouse era was great too, but it lasted long enough from 1997-2004, I'm pretty sure CN finally needed a rebrand for the City look after using those Powerhouse bumpers for 7 straight years, actually 6 because the reface bumpers started in 1998. During the City, there was still variety of blocks and shows. BTW, lets not forget, in both the Powerhouse and City eras, there were also repeats of Kids WB shows that aired Cartoon Network as well. The 90s Kids WB shows aired CN during the Powerhouse, while the 2000's Kids WB shows aired CN during the City. There was still as much variety on Cartoon Network in the Powerhouse & City eras. You can't have the same old cartoons air for a long time, they have to be replaced by new ones, as long as there's so much variety of great shows, originality and creativity. The channel was still good. The only bad thing that I remember about the City Era was Tickle U of course, but that's about it. There were many bad shows on CN before 2004 as well, like Sitting Ducks, Pecola, or some of those crappy babyish toy looking 80's ripoff/spinoff cartoons. When the YES! Era started for CN in 2006, that's when the downfall started for CN with Out of Jimmy's Head Re-Animated, Squirrel Boy, and My Gym Panther's a Monkey. There's a difference between downfall and death, downfall is when the channel starts getting bad, but the channel is still good or somewhat watchable, death is when the channel dies completely and gets out of its originality and it's no longer watchable. You want to know when the real death of CN occurred, 2007 when Stuart Synder took over and the "Fall is Something That Grownups Invented" Era began. CN got out of it's originality and started trying to copy Nickelodeon or Disney Channel with all the live-action programming and bumpers, that's when the true death of Cartoon Network happened. There was nothing wrong with CN around the Checkerboard, Powerhouse, or City eras, they were all great and creative in different ways. Yes, Cartoon Cartoons did make a huge impact on CN, the What a Cartoon Show is what started out the original programming for CN, but did not define its ENTIRE greatness though. Saying that Cartoon Network is no longer good without its Cartoon Cartoons (majority of them from the Powerhouse; some continued throughout the City) is like saying Cartoon Network was no longer good without its Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the Checkerboard era. I have to get these myths cleared up. don't blame any other era for Cartoon Network's death but that "Fall Is Something That Grownups Invented" era from 2007, that's what ultimately killed Cartoon Network. That was Stuart Synder's first major era for CN. The Fall Era, or, I call it, the "Ebola" era for CN, because it was a permanent virus that was put on CN that still can't be cured to this day. In 2007 during the Fall Era, Cartoon Cartoon Fridays/Cartoon Network Fridays after it's long 8 year run got replaced by Fried Dynamite & Dynamite Action Squad. TOM 4 replaced TOM 3 which led to it's downfall and Toonami got screwed up and eventually led to its cancellation in 2008. Most of the Cartoon Cartoons & CN originals ended its original runs and started getting replaced by crappy Teletoon/Canadian imported shows. People say that The Powerpuff Girls or Ed, Edd, n Eddy ended in 2009, but that's not true, they all came back in 2009 only ONCE for their series finales. The Powerpuff Girls stopped making new episodes in 2005 but still showed repeats on CN until it got moved to Top 5 in 2006, came back in 2009 for one last time. Ed, Edd, n Eddy stopped making new episodes in 2007, and never came back on CN until 2009 for one last time as well. Now back to the Fall Era, last but not least, all of the bumpers and promos got replaced by more of a live action type look and feel to the network, which eventually led to CN Real and live action movies airing the network later on around 2009. Blame the Fall Era for killing Cartoon Network, that was the worst era in CN history, the first main era by Stuart Synder that released an Ebola onto Cartoon Network that still can't be cured to this day.
mqgTWO96 I want to see your opinion, but I am very lazy and thus cannot (more like will not) read your comment. Sorry.
NerdSlayer LOL, then why did you comment then, all you have to press is the read more button. It's my opinion on CN, you should be interested in seeing my opinion ROFL!!! Tell me what you think alright I'll be patient!
mqgTWO96 As I said, I have a chronic laziness disability. And I can't read all of that. If you want to sum it up for me that would be fine, but I can't read it.
No, mainly because most shows keep airing until after the date they were cancelled.
In my opinion, Cartoon Network ended in 2007.
I would love to revisit my childhood watching CN because of the City Era from 2004 to 2007.
2004 the absolute best time to watch cartoons I remember Saturday mornings.knd, Ed Edd Eddy, jhonny bravo Billy &Mandy much more.miss those days😥
I hope they don’t do what they did to Powerpuff Girls. If they destroy Dexter’s Lab I’m declaring war.
when teen titans go became a thing it died
And then they ruin Powerpuff Girls. I say before they can ruin anymore classics we take those crappie “artists” down.
I didn't want to go overboard being addicted to cartoons such as Saturday morning but I didn't expect things to change if they had been the same for decades
This is just incredible, almost 10 years later the death of Cartoon Network might actually be true with rumors of the channel being existent by 2023, some of its shows now are being written off for taxes (basically scrubbing its existence of shows and never airing in American CN again) and streaming services killing of cable television, its safe to say CN isn’t looking good right now. This video brings back good memories but now it also made me grateful of what I had back then and what’s soon to be gone in the future.
I don't wanna be the one to say this, but you forgot to put non in front of existent
It seems when people said Cartoon Network died in April of 2004, from what I recall, that is when Space Ghost Coast to Coast ended its TV run. And that was one of the first original shows Cartoon Network produced.
It seems like CN died around 2004-2006, though some good shows did come a little later on in the channel, but when the 2010s came along, things started to go down hill extremely fast. So I'd say 2010 is when CN died.
And it's not just nostalgia for me, I'm all for new shows if they're good. But most of the shows on Cartoon Network aren't good. The best new show on the channel I've seen is The Looney Tunes Show. It's funny and entertaining, so I genuinely like it. Outside of that, I'd say Regular Show is the second best, and that's not saying much.
Good video by the way.
Yh same. I do think that Cartoon Network did decline in the 2010s and was still good between 2006-2010 in my opinion and really completely change in 2012 by realising new shows like adventure time, regular show and amazing world of gum ball. I wasn't alive to wittiness how great Cartoon Network was in the 90s and only started watching when I was 6 in 2006 so from the years that I said were good may not be good for other people.
Daniel Costa-McFadden 2006 threw 2010 was good but if you was here a little earlier you would have seen the start of does shows.
The old Cartoon Network: the place where we can savor our childhood.
The new Cartoon Network: where childhood shows get banished to the island of misfit cartoons
Was dying since 2007 and once Toonami left it died just like that
Well toonami did comeback.
elitebelt The only thing that can be done, is just keep your TV tooned in for the ratings. Hopefully it makes it improve its broadcast
Ok Toonami came back, live action shows are mostly gone, and CN's new shows are great. Don't knock em' till you try em'
I am surprised this video itself hasn't still reached 1 million views.
In my opinion Cartoon Network died in 2009, when they started adding live action shows, but we still have some good shows as the years when On like Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Amazing World Of Gumball, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears etc, and we still had reruns of shows that had ended from 2009-2012.
when the reality shows in 2009 came
Agreed completely. I like Cartoon Network now for having shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe and I liked Cartoon Network then for having Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, but that time in between with those live action shows......NO. I hated that time.
Cartoon Network died when they stopped making cartoons 2009
BINGO!!!
there is no steven universe in my country
Cartoon network died in 2010
***** Then it died again this year.
***** Well it happen ever since Nicklodeon started making better shows, while Cartoon Network has become Cartoon Serious.
***** Just look at Adventure Time and Regular Show now in days.
***** Well I mean Things are just looking up for them. I mean their not as bad as they were before.....
***** it died in 2009, cn real was the moment cartoon network died and cn began. Now they just made shitty comedies
so much nostalgia...man i miss my childhood
The years of 2000-2010 were basically by far the best eras for many cartoon shows of Cartoon Network rising regarding their peakness and popularity as we grew up with them during our nostalgic childhood memories that marked our nostalgia back in the good old days.
i think cn died in 2009 when ed edd n eddy was cancelled
rip ed edd n eddy 1999- 2009
Same wirh Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends that was cancelled in 3rd May 2009.
No, Cartoon Network did not die in 2004 & it never ever have been. It was still a great channel. The reason it died in 2007 because of the moonilite scare. IT WAS ALL ADULT SWIM'S AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE MOVIE, THE CITY OF BOSTON, MA & INTERFACE INC.'S FAULT!!!!!!!
Samurai Jack is back.
In Adult Swim!
+Sonny Crockett powerpuff girls is back
With twerking.... -_-
ShadowMaster77 yeah thats outdated
gotta get back, back to the past, samurai jack
When Cartoon Network died? When it decided CN real was a good idea.
I honestly liked their live action stuff, but they really did belong on the program.
Dream Lineup of CN Shows:
Keep: Steven Universe, Gumball, Sonic Boom, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Clarence, Pokemon (XY is definitely getting better after the disaster that was Unova's story), and Uncle Grandpa (Demographics, It may not be possible for more civilized people like us to enjoy it, but 6-11 year olds are incredibly susceptible to fart jokes and random humor)
Reintroduce: Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Edd, Ed, and Eddy, Grim and Mandy, Courage, Classic Ben 10 (Before it was rebooted a million times), Samurai Jack, Chowder, Foster's, Flapjack, and Toonami in general...
Reboot: Powerpuff Girls, a REAL Teen Titans, A full "Over The Garden Wall" Series, maybe A new Foster's?
Pilots: We need Lakewood Plaza Turbo... MAKE IT HAPPEN
Can: Teen Titans GO!, Chima, Johnny Test (Dead already but It's still etched in my brain for being a bad show) Ninjago (milked dry and lego doesn't fit it, let alone those ninjas are not REAL ninjas, if I had a quarter for every time they were caught because somebody talked...) Mixels (even though they're just shorts the art style bothers me and the voice acting crew should be shot)
Also, PLEASE, CN, Even MAD is making fun of you for being 20-ish and still having to go to bed at 9.
Forgot to mention: NO MORE GODDAMN TOTAL DRAMA ANYTHING
LorulianGamer Total Drama was the shit i guess a kid like you would not understand
LegendOfPG It's been milked to death, the stereotypes are off the charts, the dialogue is unintelligent, the characters are unintelligent and bland and have Obsessive Compulsive Unfunny Fart Disorder. It's immature, and not all teenagers are Goth, Emo, Fat, or Douchebags.
LegendOfPG Now May I ask how old you are?
Have you been to highschool
Teengers are
Fat
Goth
Emo
And douchbags
And how is the shoe stereotypical
O what your probably still in elementery school
When you get to high school you see that there are
Fat
Emo
Goth teengers
cm punk sucks
Ryback is a GOD
Camp Lazlo premiered 17 years ago today on July 8th, 2005. That alongside Fosters and Billy and Mandy and other cartoons like Courage were awesome.
We got Camp Lazlo, Billy and Mandy, and KND, so it didn't die in 2004.
in my opinion cartoon network died in 2009 when they did the whole live action thing
BINGO! Inside Jimmy's Head or something? I was like "WTF? This isn't even a cartoon!"
