      In the Philippines the checkboard era lasted up to 2005, since its an asian version there were lapses. Oddly enough the Cartoon Network from another cable provider had anime like zoids n beyblade in the early 2000s while our cable provider did not, why is this so? they had a he-man series on 2005 and our he man from the CN from our cable provider came out in 2007.

    Cartoon Network for the longest time was pillar of my life. Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, Toonami, Miguzi... I was there when they rose to power, I was there when they were kings, I sadly walked away when they became a monster, and I came back when they reformed themselves. They're one of, if not THE reason that mainstream animation didn't die in the 1990s. The Nicktoons were great and were of high quality, but many were still considered niche products since they came from a network for children. By creating a channel based around animation entirely and not just as children's programming they became the flag bearer for an art form and type of media that had languished since the 1970s. And I'm proud they did, even if they lost the way at one point. With everything that's gone down last year and this year, I'm anxious to see what's going to happen.

    • @beyrsf
      @beyrsf 7 лет назад +4

      @VulpesHilaririanus, I agree. People always go luk back at Nick for the "Greatest netork of all time"... or to disney, but those were mostly child humor, etc. But CN itself, Toonami, adult swim, fox kids, UPN kids' action zone/syndicated stuff, kids wb, and even Miguzi were the ones that were on top with a BALANCE of "cartoons" , "animated series", and anime.

      Total Drama was certainly great for the network , but a Teletoon is a Teletoon, and its quality really isnt up to par with both older and newer shows. I gotta say though, its one of Teletoon's best works, as it really seems they tried with this one rather than totally cheaping out. So many other CN shows were so bad at the time, so I'd call it a diamond in the rough.

    Before: Really good cartoons that had amazing story lines, character development, and animation. (The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Dexter's Lab, etc.)
    After: Re-runs of the infamous Teen Titans Go, and only like an 1 hour or 2 of the good cartoons. Did I say 1 or 2 hours of good cartoons? Sorry, I meant the whole day is Teen Titans Go.

    • @Tornado1994

      Betty Cohen and Samples were good CEOs for the Network. But they weren't running the Network. Mike Lazzo was RUNNING Cartoon Network throughout the 1990s. He was mostly in full control and in charge.
      When Ms. Cohen was replaced by Jim Samples, Lazzo remained in control until '04 when he hired Mrs. Kimberly Manning Roney as his full replacement as Network VP, Lazzo left Cartoon Network in May 2004. Kim is the wife of CN veteran and Network Co-Executive Vishal Roney.
      Manning ran the Network until 2008 and after CN's Marketing Director Keith Crawford departed from CN in November 2003 she hired Maya McClure as the new Director. It is said Network executives often felt that Manning and McClure were way too edgy and avante guard and often took too many risks: Cased Closed/Detective Conan,Paranoia Agent, R.O.D. Movie,Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Manning is a HUGE Otaku, so she and Maya liked taking chances even if the anime didn't make much profit.
      I truly believe that when the Anime Boom bubble burst in Late 2007 and the Recession hit, that the Network saw fit to get rid of Kim Manning and Maya McClure, so once Stuart Snyder was brought in, BOTH Women were fired from Cartoon Network in January 2008. Toonami's 2008 Cancellation is directly related to their firing.

    Would you do a history of Space Ghost Coast to Coast? That show was amazing. Not only was it funny and entertaining, but it helped lay the foundation for future shows and blocks on the network, such as Toonami, as Moltar from Coast to Coast was the original host, as well as Adult Swim, Coast to Coast helped influence and/or spin-off many of the original shows on Adult Swim. Space Ghost is an interesting piece of cartoon history and I haven't seen a lot of videos going in depth about the over all creation, reaction, influence and so on. I think you'd be good at giving a good rundown of the history of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, as you're very good at your research and presenting each video with great quality. Just a suggestion, I can't wait for your next video man.

    So basically, Betty & Jim(old school names that sound great together) are the main reasons why our childhoods were awesome when it came to TV shows in our teen years until 2007.
    And, yeah AT&T bought out Time Warner so, should be interesting.

    I still remember, to this day, the night that adult swim premiered. And eventually, it would run on Thursday nights, but it was just a rerun of the exact same line up from Sunday. I watched adult swim grow, and knew that once it was on EVERY night, and basically was 50 percent cartoon network and then 50 percent adult swim. So crazy how it blew up.

    Hey, great video! I must send appreciation for the nostalgia trip- I'm a kid from '81. As a little kid I recall having only a small handful of channels to select from, and those dreadful nights the president had something to say- took up every channel. But then late 80's/early 90's watching Disney Channel, early/mid 90's was the time of Nickelodeon- then mid 90's the even better Cartoon Network. Those cartoons had a hand in developing my personality and whatnot.
    Thinking back to the era pre cable channels to now, having the ability to watch anything ya want on a phone- haha excited to see what technological advancements come in the next 37 yrs

    One of my favs from a while ago was "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy" by Maxwell Atoms and when you look at what Cartoon Network did to that show it is almost like a template of what happened to so many shows of theirs. What grew out of an umbrella program ("Grim and Evil" in '02) was then given its own series but they quickly went out of their way to kill it in every way imaginable: Episodes were shown only once over the summer season the first two seasons, only eight new episodes were produced for season two (with no repeats being shown at all), season 3, 4 and 5 were the most successful but had sporadic, continuously changing broadcast time slots (once again mostly during the summer) with only a few select episodes being repeated over and over and not in succession. The last season did not even air in some markets when they chose to show an occasional new episode once a month (once again without repeats). Cartoon Network is mostly populated by people who have no clue about intelligent writing or what constitutes good animation. Every so often they get lucky and then they try to milk a good idea to death. Not surprising from a bunch of bean counters.
