I made a mistake in the video. There are 16 seasons of Family Guy, not 18. I honestly don’t know where that number came from. Maybe cause I watch too many series at the same time and was confused. My bad people
I miss the old, evil Stewie. Also in the beginning Peter was just a happy-go-lucky dimwit whom everyone liked. Now Peter is just a selfish and often cruel jerk and outright cretin who's very off-putting.
+Egon Jensen-Peter got flushed down the crapper ever since season five, when he was diagnosed with being retarded. (Yeah, that's how the show went with it) which just meant it gave the show a free-pass for Peter to do whatever, wherever, whenever with no regard or concern to decency or human life. You can't get upset with Peter, he's just retarded. . .And things got FAR WORSE after that concerning Peter, where he casually murders people on a frequent basis, but season five was really the precipice that permanently broke him. I miss the days where Peter actually cared about being a good father. . .That he treated Meg with love and respect, even if she still was misunderstood. Peter was clueless and a bit of a dimwit but he always had a good heart and always tried to do the right thing. . .And I like how he always tried to be a good father because of how awful his father had been to him. . .(The show flushed that down too since Peter accidentally killed the man who was his adoptive father and it turns out his actual father is a drunken Irish lout, so. . .Peter gets off scott-free once again. . .) He didn't always succeed, but his heart was always in the right place. . .I also really miss the days where Stewie was a very fun, twisted little villain who only occasionally had a soft spot for maybe Brian in the family. . .Likely because while Brian did give him shit, Brian also respected him as an intelligent individual. Stewie was someone Brian recognized as evil and worthy of being considered a "frenemy." And Brian was so smart to where he was an individual Stewie at least respected for being smart and able to get somewhere close to Stewie's level. . .
@@feraflauna3238 i been saying this for 3 years but my comments go under the radar saying this stuff while people suck justin ys dick all the time for saying 2 or 3 words.
Remember when Joe was actually a really cool character who wasn't treated like a lesser person because of his disability? In fact he was really good at his job, fitter and had a much better family dynamic than Peter
When was the last time we even heard that amazingly funny screaming from him?? He went from being a badass cop who didn't let his disability deter him in the slightest to a suicidal, defeated sack, who is the butt of his friends' jokes.
@@matadeverdoemden yeah, somewhere along the lines the lost the fact that he was a joke because his life and career were comically better than his able bodied friend Peter. It used to be the contrast that was funny but now it's supposed to be that he's sad he can't walk? Wtf family guy?
@@matadeverdoemden Not just the characters, but he's also the butt of some 4th wall breaking jokes, like when Peter asked the animators to be drawn with X-men designs, and Joe was made into Professor X because he was in a wheelchair.
The way they ruined Brian and Peter is what really killed the show for me. Peter used to care. Yes, he may have hurt his family sometimes but it was always a genuine mistake and he felt bad. Now he's just a dumb, inconsiderate asshole who uses Meg as a punching bag. Brian was the perfect balance for Stewie. He really cared for him and tried to lead him along the right path. He would always do what he felt was the right thing and felt like he was a real part of the family. Now he's just an egotistical, moral lacking adulterer. His chemistry with characters like Meg doesn't really exist anymore. They also turned side characters like Joe into stereotypes. He went from being a hard working man, who never let his disability get in the way, to a depressed wheelchair user, who's entire personality consists of him feeling sorry for himself and letting his disability hold him back.
I really hate how they ruined Brian too. Any episode with Brian now, is just unbearable. He’s a sex addicted, self absorbed, self righteous, and pompous dog who thinks his high intellect and self worth is superior than others.
Yeah I remember when joe first came on the show Peter was jealous of him. Joe was charismatic and positive. Now he’s a wimp who watched Bonnie get banged by another man
The biggest changes I’ve seen in any of the characters are Lois and Joe. Lois used to be nice and caring but now she’s just a tired housewife who just hates everything in her life. Joe used to be proud of his handicap but now Family just made him out to be pitiful and sad in every way
tunasub gotta completely disagree with you on Lois there. I find early season Lois completely intolerable from a comedic standpoint. All that goody gumdrop upstanding housewife crap was so cringeworthy to me, and she became more tired and miserable I think it humanized the character and gave her more depth. I know, unpopular opinion

The first episode with Joe in it, showed how amazing he is to accomplish what he has accomplished with his disability... That compared to how his character acts now is so so disappoing
Since Family Guys creativity is dead, they've pretty much been using more extreme violence and sex jokes as a way to fill in for the actually good jokes.
I was a little under the weather when I had to record this so I apologize if it sounds different at all. I'm feeling better though! Hope you all enjoy the video ^^ Support me on Patreon : www.patreon.com/saberspark Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com/Saberspark
An idea! whenever you need to speak of money as the culprit, might I suggest the scene from the tom and jerry movie in which the main male villain simply repeats the words. "lots, and lots of .....MONEY.."
Lois and Peter's "interaction" with eachother is really just sad and irritating. The way peter cuts Lois down about her age and the way Lois forces peter and her family to comply with her needs. And ONLY her needs.
The thing family guy does that actualy annoys me is when they go out and explain a joke, thats just breaking a golden comedy rule: If your going to explain a joke, then there is no joke
Stewart Lee (British comedian if you don't know) often explains jokes, and it's really funny. The difference is that Family Guy isn't nearly clever enough to do ot well.
Seeing the last segment with the Disney-Style animation made me remember how good the Multiverse episode actually was, in terms of switching things up and not trying to be bland
I agree. Those "Road to.." episodes breathed much needed fresh air into the show. Same with the trilogy specials ie: Stephen King stories. Even Family Guy takes on history, ancient or more recent, were pretty original. But please God..... no more Star Wars spoofs!
@@JoseOrtiz-yn7zh Bit old, but I'd say your way off. Family Guy is more 'kid' orientated than the Simpsons honestly... The Simpsons is more PG sure, but a lot of its early jokes (when it was good) were targeted more so at adults than children, and were pretty intelligently made. This is also reflected in the more character orientated comedy within the series. Still had a lot of jokes for kids, but it had a lot of depth too. In contrast, Family Guy was and is primarily focused on a younger audience. Its largest audience is probably in the younger teens demographic, extending a bit before and after that. The fact that content isn't kid friendly doesn't stop it from being watched by kids, I've seen far more people under the age of 10 wearing Family Guy merch and talking about and referencing the show than those over the age of twenty, and the humour is pretty obvious, upfront and the opposite of intelligent I guess. (Also it literally has nothing to do with the similarities in rate of decline)
Brian became a douchebag, Lois is always cheating on her husband and leaving her family for some reason, but then comes back and says sorry and everything is back to normal...then you got what they did with Meg. It's gotten kinda rediculous
I used to love meg because her character showed exactly how some kids get treated by their families. It was clear how she was treated was wrong even though the characters never seemed to realise it, until the later seasons that is
Going from memory so forgive me if I'm wrong. I think in the earlier seasons, it wasn't so much abuse (or at least malicious abuse), it was more that Peter couldn't connect with Meg as easily as Chris or Stewie and typically neglected her needs. It was still wrong, but it wasn't malicious or physically abusive like it is now.
What Jordan said. Meg didn't really get abuse from her family, it was just that Peter couldn't connect with her like he could his sons (you know the whole father doesn't understand daughter trope). Lois was actually pretty good to Meg in the early seasons as she offered good advice (the episode where Peter pretends to be a high school student to get rid of "doing toad") and helped bring her out of her shell a bit (the Spring Break episode lol). She was just portrayed as the awkward teenage girl who wanted to fit in and try to be popular.
depending on where your cutoff is for early vs later episodes, yes it might not have been outright abuse at first, but it was definitely poor treatment for no reason. it certainly is overt abuse now. shes is in a family where not one member is ever on her side, that alone is emotionally abusive
Seth Macfarlane himself has said that he wanted to stop at around season 10. He’s a good writer, but like any writer he has a limit to how long he can keep one thing going.
When the show was trying to be funny without worrying about shocking people, it was good. It went for the funny, no matter what. Eventually the show tried to shock people without worrying about being funny. That's when it went bad.
The first episodes/seasons looked kinda ugly though... I think the show is still good nowadays! There are obviously *some good and some bad* episodes in each season recently, but generally speaking it's still good! Yes, the humor kinda changed along the years, and it's obviously not for everyone... 👍
Frankly I never cared for it’s humor, but that is a fair evaluation of its initial premise and it’s increasingly desperate peddling of shock value humor.
You know what would be funny, if Seth MacFarlane just said "fuck it, I'm gonna expose Fox in an episode" and make a whole episode about how Fox is just forcing the shit to make money and they don't actually give a fuck about Seth or the cast, that would be fucking GREAT.
Too much over the top shock humor is what I would blame for the current state of Family Guy. Hell, Brian literally became the new Quagmire the last couple of years. It feels like while The Simpsons writers have been getting better over the years with the seasons, ( after season 21 mind you) which is a sign of relief, Family Guy makes you sit there and grown after finishing the whole episode and make you think what am I watching?
This. I used to love family guy, but this is what turned me off from the show. The shock humor is just not funny. Shock humor only works if you use it sparsely.
This is exactly part of the contributing factor. All the sex and bodily function jokes, which are usually fine but are often taken to the extreme just for the sake of extreme "humor." I still watch Family Guy because, at this point, I feel obligated to, but I grin and bear it. This last season has been marginally better I will add, but they stopped directly airing on Hulu like 7 episodes in for unspecified reasons so I haven't been watching.
I haven’t been able to watch family guy in YEARS for this exact reason. Simpsons on the other hand I’ve been watching since I was 2. The only episode of the simpsons I didn’t care for...was the crossover with family guy. :/ everything else is pretty tame and actually still funny.
Exactly why I stopped as well. Plus, it was getting boring, and I could feel the love Seth had for the show went away. Watch his 90s interview when he first started. You can really tell how much he loved his show. Fox is really killing him and the show.
Easy way to spot the funniest episodes - look for thick black outlines around the drawn characters. The cruder the animation the style, the older and funnier the episode will be. Whereas the shinier and more textured the drawings, the worse it gets.
Very true. But even some cruder animated episodes have their horrible moments. For example, the whole elephant hearing domestic violence joke was incredibly mean spirited and in bad taste.
The animation might've been crude in the early years but it looks so cheap now IMO. If you compare how the characters would make gestures and move around when talking in the earlier episodes and now they just stand completely still with the same expression for the whole scene besides eye movements. It's probably just a consequence of going from hand drawn to using computers but you can tell a lot more effort went into the animation at the start than it does now (barring some specific scenes).
@@Gamer208010 that's true, half the time the characters just hold their hand out and talk, just standing there. Just looks do cheap... but earlier seasons have more movement so the characters dont look like robors
SpongeBob and The Simpsons suffer from the same problem. Hell, a lot of modern kid cartoons too. They don't do entertainment like they used to, it seems.
You know the one thing I noticed about Family Guy is that in the earliest seasons the family was more genuine and positive. Like the treatment of Meg wasnt anywhere as bizarre or cruel as the more modern seasons. There used to be a sense of real family values.
The Cleveland Show was made, separated a lot of the staff and then none of them returned after The Cleveland Show ended. That's what I believe ruined Family Guy, because it did coincidentally start its drought beginning with the ninth season. Seasons 1-3 were golden, 4-6 were great and 7-8 were alright. Every season starting with nine started to get so bland.
a show is only as good as it's characters, and Family guy used to have a cast of likable, three dimensional characters, but now they've been replaced with toxic, spiteful one dimensional shadows of their former selves. #cancelfamilyguy
It certainly did and given the choice, I would watch Futurama over Simpsons any day. South Park is still quality in my opinion while Family Guy gets worse all the time. American Dad is an all round better series from Seth MacFarlane.
That's the worst part about it. Season 9 was not only when they updated to Flash, but also when the story lost it's substance. There's unfortunately no "sweet spot", combining the show's good animation with good writing. The only acceptions are a few short times when Family Guy characters appeared on The Cleveland Show.
The animation is better? The coloring and effects are better but looking at how the show moves, it is very lazy and robotic. The older episodes looked worse but the animation was smoother.
Ehh South Park still has some clever writing. Obviously they tried to do story arcs with modern day events but ultimately wrote themselves into a corner. In season 20 and 21. But luckily they'll tone it down a little
@@Lipidwave - Im watching the whole garrison-is-trump- saga at the moment and for the first time in my South Park watching life, I turned it off. I was bored and confused, two things i am usually not accustomed to feeling whilst watching South Park.
The writers have tried WAY too hard to be serious and profound and have written some really baffling episodes. Meg finally stands up to her abusive family but stays because "its her lot in life to feel bad so they don't have to." They try way too hard to be edgy and shocking to the point where all the characters feel like the same shallow asshole..Brian is probably the worst of the worst now.
Or the episode where we meet Quagmire's Sister and her abusive boyfriend? They tried to make it a little more serious in tone but failed miserably though my main gripe with that episode is how they portrayed her boyfriend. He would physically assault her out in public or around Peter and the gang and no one didn't even call it out. It just was too much lol And yeah Brian's character was definitely brought down from likable and the only time his pretentiousness is bearable is when he's with Stewie because Stewie plays off of him and calls him out in humorous ways.
Decadent Gamer So much can be sad about that episode...i hate thinking about it so i purposely left it out. They just stared like morons as he was beating the shit out of her...and they treated HER like it was her fault for being in the relationship.
Could be an unpopular opinion but I personally really enjoyed season 9, I loved the first episode and I found it quite funny. Some of my favourite episodes are in season 9 😊
Ugh. I was going through my "emo, condescending, 2smart4u, eveythingsux, athiest" phase around the time Brian's character became a horrible jerk and I was so delusional I couldn't see how awful Brian was and instead thought I connected with him. Kinda like how you see teenagers now say Rick Sanchez is their idol, I guess, but more toxic maybe.
So true but to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to. LOL Okay I'll stop but yeah, it's totally like that with characters like Brian, Ric, and even BoJack Horseman.
@Kairi Ali imo Cleveland Show has tired plots that don't end up being that special, but there are jokes and situations in each episode that make me laugh very hard.
@Kairi Ali All of them are good but family guy is the best. The shows been on for years and what can they do that won't make people upset. They could just keep all the characters the same and keep the plot and jokes the same but then people will complain it's repetitive. They can change it up a bit and give characters a bit of a new personality but again people will get upset or they can just end the show but again people will get upset so what can they do.
I think Family Guy was more enjoyable than American Dad in it's earlier seasons (for both), but American Dad has had a better lifespan overall as a show, it's more consistent in theme than FG. American Dad improved in episodes while Family Guy was always on the decline.
end the simpsons and family guy together. one has gone on to long and besides maybe a once in a blue moon good episode [ barthood] is not as funny. and the other has not been good sicne it came back
@@livinlikelarry3051, Honestly, I agree. Seasons 10-14 were still good but they weren’t up to the same level as the earlier seasons. Season 15 is when things really started to go downhill for The Simpsons.

Is it only me or it seems that every episode is the same? Two story lines, then something dramatic happens or something alike, and at the end happy ending or a lesson learned.
I absolutely hated what they did with Cleveland's character. He used to be so funny, then once "The Cleveland Show" started, he had been completely flanderized and only made racial jokes. He was so much better when he talked reeeeaaaal slow
Actually Saber, the creator of Fairly Oddparents announced on his RUclips channel that he's leaving Nickelodeon and cutting Fairly Oddparents. Maybe it was for the better.
pretty much many tv channels has turned into a shadow of their former self, disney while having some good to okay shows has things like pickle&peanut running on their channel, cartoon network runs TTG 98% of the times
They made it because viewership was going down and now they brought it back up with the special and have got the highest ratings on the show in 7 years.
iiLxmon obviously Let’s say you make a show and the female character gets beaten in the 1st episode You think your show is gonna last in a world of stupid SJWs wanting “equality”. No it’s gone right there and then. So family guy slowly adds the fact that she a punchingb bag. But she’s always been the hate character of the family
My problem is the show became relentlessly mean spirited. I don’t have a problem with edgy jokes or dark humour but family guy doesn’t have anything interesting or funny to say anymore, it’s just controversial jokes for the sake of it, it’s not intelligent or well written it’s just cheap shots at the disabled and women (for the most part). I mean can anyone actually laugh at joe anymore in particular? His character and the way he’s treated just makes me really sad
it doesnt matter what kind of humor it is any. It's dry, it's shriveling up, and honestly no longer amusing. People can defend it all they want, but the series is pretty much dead now. I've been there since day one, loved it, and look at it now as something that should have been put to rest a longtime ago. It's not just Family Guy that's suffering from this either. It's sad to see the things we once love die, but honestly i think it's better to have them die being good then watch them slowly grind to an ungraceful halt. Pass away peacefully, or crash and burn.
Dade Lee Murphy fortunately a lot of TV shows now are deciding to stop when they feel like there is nothing more to tell. Ex. Schitt’s Creek, The Good Place, BoJack Horseman.
Well atleast it’s better way, than Seth should be voicing his characters who lost the charms for the rest of his life. I don’t know, did he was still interesting to make Family guy movie? 🤷🏻♀️
@@dragondelsur5156 nah the simpsons did bits for years, obviously its time is way up but deserves the credit and still does have the odd god new episode
Family Guy, Simpsons, SpongeBob, at this point all of them will go thought the Faily OddParents theatment, getting an unsatisfactory ending, just another regular episodie, pum, cancelled
For me, it was the abuse Meg went through that caused me to stop watching it. When I rewatched the first few seasons, I realized they've always made fun of Meg. For example, in the song "This House is Freakin' Sweet", one of the lyrics goes "We'll do the best we can with Meg" and that was funny! But as the show progressed, her treatment was worsened. I'm not saying that they can't make fun of her at all, but a line has been crossed. Another reason was Peter. As you mentioned. he went from a lovable doofus to a complete asshole. He used to do the best he could to provide for his family and now? It's just sickening to watch. I haven't watched the show in years so I had no clue how bad the other characters got. I'll gladly watch their older episodes. But I'll pass on the recent ones.
tkf15 Yeah, I agree. Even in the old episodes, you can still see how the family still love Meg despite them teasing her unlike now. It's like they went from lovable teasing to straight up abuse. Everyone's personality is just garbage now except for Chris who got better.
It is a lot like South Park said it was, the same jokes can only be told so many different ways. This is much like ghost hunters, how many episodes can you watch of someone saying "did you feel that?" and "I feel like its cold right here". After time it becomes same thing over and over.
Switch Speedster I would also say The Simpsons, Spongebob Squarepants and The Powerpuff Girls. But yeah, Fairly Odd Parents is probably the best one to do next.
Pierre begley spongebob was talked about alot tho, which is kind of not an option these days since only those who doesnt go much thru youtube videos about cartoons will want to know about spongebob
Excellent work as always. I sometimes watch the new Family Guy episodes just to see if I actually laugh at something in them. Either way, I wouldn't be sad if the show was cancelled once and for all. I've already accepted that it died long ago.
Same over here lol I watched with my brothers and idk it just feels everyone who used to be lovable has an attitude now like quagmire for example. Remember his random outbursts and always smiling. Now he's just an jerk. Family guy used to be about Peter and his family now when I watch Before Peter announces a dumb idea I'm like "uggh shut up you fat fuck." 😅😅
It's not only the lack of funny that's bothering me that much with new episodes. It's the emotional stuff and commentary on common life and family problems that the show used to have and doesn't have anymore that bothers me. The absolute same thing happened with The Simpsons.
Actually I believe that Spongebob is getting its second wind with the return of old writers. I think the newer seasons of Spongebob are compared to season 4.
Peter: Hee hee! Brian: Lois, let's talk about politics Meg: Hi Guys- Chris: Shut up, I'm trying to (zany sex related antics) Joe: (falls down stairs) Bonnie: Haha! CUT AWAY GAG
I personally don’t think it’s that bad that Brian got political I feel they just over did it later on because I feel the show died around season 12 and the rest of the episodes were either a hit or miss after that edit: the main thing that really killed it is that it’s just stupid they ran out of ideas so they just add a lot of filler to episodes
Someone: says about the weirdly pacific action there about to do and doing said pacific action ( seriously has the writers not heard of show don’t tell )
Overly violent Overly gruesome (Brian Griffin’s House of Payne) Botched up and forced morals (e.g Screams of Silence) Cash cow (Life of Brian) Forced jokes and unnecessary pop culture references And many other reasons
Arctic Flower ‘Audacious’? ‘Postmodern’? ‘Humor’?! Audacious is not the word for lazy slapstick that’s constantly used in several American adult shows, postmodern is not the word for a show that is dead to a demographic that it SHOULD be aimed towards, humor is not the word for a show that leans on fart jokes and pop-culture references to get by.
KaiZerMier Krazy You serious? If they had undersized gore you’d complain about that. People like you criticize everything and expect everything to be perfect. I agree family guy lost its spark, but your just being dumb.
I stopped watching when it starting to feel like a lazy series highlighting the worst, most unlikeable aspects of it's characters. Seth MacFarlane only wanted to make 7 seasons after FOX repurchased it in 2005 but they wouldn't let him leave. They promised to also give him opportunities for new TV shows & major studio films on the condition he also stay and continue Family Guy. Which is where we are today. A guy leading the show out of contractual obligation in order to fulfill his other creative desires with the studio.
What ruined family guy is Seth McFarland having 3 cartoon shows and most of his writers going to American dad or the Cleveland show. Then they really ran out of ideas for family guy.
Look I don't really agree with liberal views on a lot of things such as guns but I they do deserve respect such as when it comes to healthcare and jobs as well as handling the environment and I know they respect us conservatives in other ways to but Brian well oh boy
Toast Yes I consider myself liberal and progressive but even I’ve been accused of bigotry on a couple of occasions for not being progressive enough on the “new concepts” being pushed by the more SJW crowd.
As time went on and Seth created other shows and did other projects, his and the others care for continuity, actual lessons and funny jokes slowly went out the window. They just don't care anymore. Long ago, before it became this long, it meant something. But, like with The Simpson's, they just stopped caring about putting out good quality stuff and just conformed to the way the world is now. They used give lessons on how drugs are bad, smoking is bad, how family matters, and things like that with funny but not too cruel humor mixed in. Now its gone to just Colder than below zero humor and almost nothing the original seasons had going on. The only thing keeping the show going is the adventures Stewie and Brian go on, because those atleast have something more to give than undeserving and unreasonably cruel jokes and humor. Things with Meg went completely out of control. In the first seasons, sure there was some jokes made about her but Peter, Lois and her brothers showed they still cared for her. Peter and Lois, even when they were mean, at the end of the day still remember shes their daughter and they loved her very much. Now shes nothing but a punching bag, something the show actually acknowledged in an episode, but instead of trying to fix it, they moral of the episode is 'get used to it'. Theres no love, no lessons, only a grain of funny jokes, and the creators don't give two shits. People think that the show should have stayed ended and that Seth was showing he agreed when he killed off Brian. There is no old fashion values, and there is no Family Guy. Long ago, whenever I heard "Family Guy", I would think of funny-but not too cruel-humor, wholesomeness, and good life tips. Now, whenever I hear it, I just think, "Oh, another Simpson's clone". Even though they were created to be different than them, they just became a carbon-copy clone of how The Simpson's is today. And the thing that breaks my heart the most? I know that it will never be the same. With the way its going, not even the "Road To" series can save it anymore. The Family Guy we all know and love is gone, and all thats left is this shambling Zombie corpse. First was Zombie Simpson's Now we have Zombie Family Guy
Exactly. What i think would be for the best is for Seth to Make the family Guy movie, which would be the end of the series With seth Being Heavily involved, and just let the show rest and finally officially move on.
In my opinion season 1 was okay, seasons 2-6 was a constant improvement, seasons 7-9 started to decline but it was still enjoyable, seasons 10-12 had a more obvious decline, 13 onwards are just terrible. In my opinion most post season 10 episodes are unbarable. Seasons 1-9 I loved all the characters, after season 10 I only like Stewie and Cleveland because they're the only characters that aren't just one negative trait.
The reason Family Guy seems to not be as funny is because in the earlier seasons the jokes were quick so that you would find it funny or if you didn’t, you would just move on. But now, the jokes of present day Family Guy are long and drawn out so now if you don’t like a joke your forced to stew in it for its remainder which now is quite a long time. Also like he said in the video, the characters are just becoming awful, such as Brian who is now just a douche.
I feel like half the FG writing staff tries hard to come up with creative new ideas and jokes, and the other half us like "Whatever man, just stretch the joke out another minute, we get paid either way"
They literally just aim for shock value now which undermines the effect they're aiming for as they are just throwing it in your face. When they start to deviate from the character traits of the original character in drastic or shocking ways it's destroys the foundation of how we came to love that particular character eg. Lois doing a porno being the polar opposite of her always being the good housewife trying to deal with Peters crazy antics. Or Bonnie being caring and supportive of her disabled husband and then switching to hating him. Shaking up a character may create one controversial episode, but the way the audience continues to view the character is now irrevocably changed. Just my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right.
The Simpsons still has characters going for them. They’re all the same lovable people with redeeming values. Everyone in Family Guy is just a cancerous asshole now.
That episode when Joe cheated on Bonnie because he thought she cheated on him in Paris was catalyst. But then they made up in the strip club to the tunes of Africa(Toto) and you thought it would get better. But she's STILL trying to cheat on him and kill him!!
Ever since Seth stopped writing for the show and just did the voices the show went downhill, you can see the passion get smaller and smaller as he is asked about the show in interviews.
Fun fact! I missed a day of school due to being sick, when I went in the next day I was told to write a paper on euthanasia which was covered the day before. I thought they said "Youth in Asia" and wrote a paper on that. Luckily my teacher thought it was hilarious and gave me an extension.
I still watch modern Family Guy, but the only episodes I really love are the “Road to” episodes. Somehow those episodes make Brian likeable again. Otherwise, they’re kind of meh, with some really problematic episodes.
The Road To episodes are consistently good even in the newer seasons but... That's basically it. The reason they're good is because Brian and Stewie complement each other so well... Honestly a spin off with just those two would probably be fun for at least 2 or 3 seasons.
more like Married with Children syndrome. Almost every character becomes an absolute jerk and one-two characters only exist as punching bag for everyone else in that universe.
All my freinds like the newest seasons because they think the stupid, violent humour is funny. When I show them the older seasons my favourite ones which are season 1-7, they think it’s unfunny. They don’t like it because the just don’t get the humour and the plot lines
Season 17 is a disaster. It is unfunny. There are no jokes. Not to mention that lately they didn't do any specials, like the Vegas episode or the one they go to India. Those were unique and I have been waiting for a special for a long time and nothing. Lately the plot is simple and stupid. Also the pop culture refrences (like Frank Sinatra or classic Hollywood actors) were their brand. Now they focus on internet trends to "connect to their viewers" but they end up doing the exact opposite. I really dislike family guy, they need to know when to let it go. Like futurama, it was great and it ended great, just what it needed. I also really like Bob's Burger's bc they show a lot character growth and they are an actual good family, and they don't capitalize on the idea that humans are crap and spouses and siblings hate each other.
That Anxious Artist Tbh new family guy episodes disappoint me because they have so much opportunity to do something deep or tell a story and they fuck it up. For example the episode where Stewie was in therapy, you can tell they didn’t know what the fuck to make of Stewie so they go into bs about his voice and useless dialogue about the therapist dude and bam. They kill him.
That Anxious Artist I also like Bob's Burgers because it's more realistic, mean more relatable. They're all really relatable characters so more people are likely to watch the show.
Too much shock value, too many cut away gags, every character is now shit, bad writing, too much political bs and more. Also the fans refusal to call out how bad family guy has gotten because they think somehow its still good. edit: Many things really but i see the fans acceptance of the bs as one of the primary things.
Honestly I have a theory on your last point about the fans. I noticed that the main people who think Family Guy is still just as good as before are either A.) People who are casual watchers of Family Guy. They've only caught episodes here and there throughout it's entire run and may have missed a lot of episodes in between and they don't pay attention or notice seasons so to them, all the episodes blend in together and they don't notice the decline. B.) The mega uber fans who will like Family guy no matter what. Think of it like those sonic the hedgehog fans who think every Sonic the hedgehog game is great (including the infamous Sonic 06 or Sonic and the Secret Rings). They can't accept that their favorite show is not perfect or has fallen from grace.
Yeah, I can agree there. The show does better when it doesn't have a message, at east not the modern episodes because the show thrives on shock value and the message is just... Eh...
First, they replaced music videos with some kick-ass shows (e.g. Beavis & Butthead, Daria, Celebrity Deathmatch). Then they ended those kick-ass shows and replaced them with garbage.
Zelkiiro the internet. MTV isn't ruined they jist aren t stupid. They saw the writing in the wall that just airing music videos wasn't going to keep up in the internet age.
I still remember that one episode where Seth Mcfarland was doing an interview with people that disliked the show. It felt like he wanted the fans to act as his personal army and attack the people that disliked his show. Then you also have Brian being a political douche who's just there to voice Seth Mcfarland's political views. Stopped watching around when they brought Brian back from the dead.
I made a mistake in the video. There are 16 seasons of Family Guy, not 18. I honestly don’t know where that number came from. Maybe cause I watch too many series at the same time and was confused. My bad people

I kid, I kid.
Stewie was someone Brian recognized as evil and worthy of being considered a "frenemy." And Brian was so smart to where he was an individual Stewie at least respected for being smart and able to get somewhere close to Stewie's level. . .
No I'm ok with it , it makes him more realistic to his age but he should be more evil a little bit

Now he’s a wimp who watched Bonnie get banged by another man
I just wish Brian had been allowed to remain intelligent.

Brian went full dusche
Nothing more intelligent than being an annoying stereotype.
The biggest changes I’ve seen in any of the characters are Lois and Joe. Lois used to be nice and caring but now she’s just a tired housewife who just hates everything in her life. Joe used to be proud of his handicap but now Family just made him out to be pitiful and sad in every way

Stewart Lee (British comedian if you don't know) often explains jokes, and it's really funny. The difference is that Family Guy isn't nearly clever enough to do ot well.

The "Road to" episodes were all consistently good, even when they came out in seasons that weren't good.
The decline of Family Guy was literally that of The Simpson’s but twice as fast.
@M J Grasscutter you know what he fucking meant
@M J Grasscutter bruh, the same as in it's decline was due to the same issues, but it happened way faster
I thought the Simpsons was made for kids
Well ofc, Seth wanted to end family guy after season 7, but Fox was like "hell no", so he flanderized it.

RockBeauty :3 quagmire became the worst on the show
I used to love meg because her character showed exactly how some kids get treated by their families. It was clear how she was treated was wrong even though the characters never seemed to realise it, until the later seasons that is
Brandon Roberts it always effected her, it was just downplayed.
Yeah, the joke stopped being funny.

Yes, the humor kinda changed along the years, and it's obviously not for everyone...

Frankly I never cared for it’s humor, but that is a fair evaluation of its initial premise and it’s increasingly desperate peddling of shock value humor.
South Park solved this by creating a whole season one one story

Theyve made jabs at fox before. Seth doesnt write anymore though, he knows the show is dead
Lowell Lucas Jr. The Simpsons has been getting better but the show is kind of boring. Still better than Family Guy though!
I actually prefer old Stewie. Seasons 1-5. He was hardcore af. They made stewie a softie.
Yes, but I actually prefer him in the "solo adventures" with Brian
Same with Cartman he went from murdering Scott Tenermen's parents to becoming a passive aggresive faux pc plotter.
Billy Moulton now he has anxiety
Sooo true back then he was the worst little shit
He’s just another run of the mill gay baby now.
Pretty much the same for The Simpson’s
SpongeBob and The Simpsons suffer from the same problem. Hell, a lot of modern kid cartoons too.
They don't do entertainment like they used to, it seems.
You know the one thing I noticed about Family Guy is that in the earliest seasons the family was more genuine and positive. Like the treatment of Meg wasnt anywhere as bizarre or cruel as the more modern seasons. There used to be a sense of real family values.
Yes. But now the Family Guy characters have devolved into degenerates.
Family Guy should have ended when Brian “died”
It should have ended back in like 2007, I have no idea how people are still watching, it's unbearable at this point.
I think that Brian and Stewie multiverse episode should have been the finale of Family Guy back in 2009.
I think it should have ended after when Diane died not season 6.
They would end if Mickey thanos stole Fox
1999: a lovely family
2019: unfriendships each other
The Cleveland Show was made, separated a lot of the staff and then none of them returned after The Cleveland Show ended. That's what I believe ruined Family Guy, because it did coincidentally start its drought beginning with the ninth season.
Seasons 1-3 were golden, 4-6 were great and 7-8 were alright. Every season starting with nine started to get so bland.
And in my opinion, I LOVED the Cleveland show
To be honest, I just loved the theme song it was catchy!

Or the episode where we meet Quagmire's Sister and her abusive boyfriend? ChannelWarrior 2006 Productions yeah
Is it only me or it seems that every episode is the same? Two story lines, then something dramatic happens or something alike, and at the end happy ending or a lesson learned.
See that formula used to work too, but now when every character is an awful human being, it's impossible to pass off morals.
That’s the point of the show that’s been stated over 2-4 times three out the show
They never learn lessons
I absolutely hated what they did with Cleveland's character. He used to be so funny, then once "The Cleveland Show" started, he had been completely flanderized and only made racial jokes. He was so much better when he talked reeeeaaaal slow
Once The Cleveland Show arrived, Cleveland just became a stereotypical black guy, i actually dislike his sons for that.
Actually Saber, the creator of Fairly Oddparents announced on his RUclips channel that he's leaving Nickelodeon and cutting Fairly Oddparents. Maybe it was for the better.
yeah he left :( pretty regretable but well he had his own share of work back in the day on nick
Pedro_Hernandez_Pro It is because Nick has turned into a shadow of its former self.
pretty much many tv channels has turned into a shadow of their former self, disney while having some good to okay shows has things like pickle&peanut running on their channel, cartoon network runs TTG 98% of the times

Its amazing that South Park is still going strong, probably because they start making all their episodes six days before they air.
Going strong? They made the pandemic special because everyone is bored of that show:
@@clevernickname3396 Or, and this is more likely, they made the pandemic special because of the pandemic. Just a thought...
They made it because viewership was going down and now they brought it back up with the special and have got the highest ratings on the show in 7 years.
@@clevernickname3396 Without the Pandemic they would have had a normal season instead. My point still stands.

Sergeant Pickles filthy frank is dark humor
Its dark humor, it’s been like that for the longest. This generation is too soft nowadays smh.
Luis Garcia yeah i agree
Luis Garcia it’s not that it’s too edgy for me, it’s just not funny. Idk maybe you have to be 15 to get why shitting on joe constantly is funny.
it doesnt matter what kind of humor it is any.
Yea family guy was actually really good in its older years but now it's basically becoming bad.
It's kind of the Spongebob of Fox.
Nolan Peters except spongebob recently went back uphill again, but family guy keeps getting worse every passing season.
Nah, that's The Simpson.
No, Simpsons is still at least decent.
Family Guy is a trash fire.
Agreed
Nolan Peters I though the Simpsons was the SpongeBob of Fox.
I remembered when TV shows had the intelligence to not go past seasons 7/8
Dade Lee Murphy fortunately a lot of TV shows now are deciding to stop when they feel like there is nothing more to tell. Ex. Schitt’s Creek, The Good Place, BoJack Horseman.

It's too late for that, just like The Simpsons.

But I'll pass on the recent ones.
tkf15 are you a child? Grow some balls it's just fiction lol
Yes but, it so happens that I don't enjoy seeing people being emotionally abused. Fictional or not.
tkf15
Yeah, I agree. Even in the old episodes, you can still see how the family still love Meg despite them teasing her unlike now. It's like they went from lovable teasing to straight up abuse. Everyone's personality is just garbage now except for Chris who got better.
thgritic102 yeah no. Chris got worse too
@The Hidden Truth Fiction is allowed to be criticized.
It is a lot like South Park said it was, the same jokes can only be told so many different ways. This is much like ghost hunters, how many episodes can you watch of someone saying "did you feel that?" and "I feel like its cold right here". After time it becomes same thing over and over.
Shit, Ghost Hunters is still on? Jesus, does any TV show get cancelled anymore?
@Jay Mystery South Park is the fucking best except season 20

It's not only the lack of funny that's bothering me that much with new episodes. It's the emotional stuff and commentary on common life and family problems that the show used to have and doesn't have anymore that bothers me. The absolute same thing happened with The Simpsons.
I disagree. I'm still obsessed with the show. And if it gets cancelled, I'm kicking a door down.

I stopped watching family guy when Brian started getting all political.
Yep. Brian went from the intelligent, charismatic anthropomorphic dog to a pompous prick
We can at least understand why Quagmire hates him...
Zenkai76 I think it should’ve ended when it was revealed, it was a show within a show.
First was Zombie Simpson's
Now we have Zombie Family Guy
Exactly. What i think would be for the best is for Seth to Make the family Guy movie, which would be the end of the series With seth Being Heavily involved, and just let the show rest and finally officially move on.

Seasons 1-9 I loved all the characters, after season 10 I only like Stewie and Cleveland because they're the only characters that aren't just one negative trait.

It’s subtle though.

But you are right
The Simpsons still has characters going for them.

Not to mention that lately they didn't do any specials, like the Vegas episode or the one they go to India. Those were unique and I have been waiting for a special for a long time and nothing.

I really dislike family guy, they need to know when to let it go. Like futurama, it was great and it ended great, just what it needed. I also really like Bob's Burger's bc they show a lot character growth and they are an actual good family, and they don't capitalize on the idea that humans are crap and spouses and siblings hate each other.
that's a great way to put it!
Bobs Burgers is terrible it has to be one of the most boring cartoons ever made.
lmao, I could see how someone would think that, I still love it.
I think the downfall of family guy began when Seth lost interest in the show. It's easy to tell the artist stopped caring and family guy suffers that.
Too much shock value, too many cut away gags, every character is now shit, bad writing, too much political bs and more. Also the fans refusal to call out how bad family guy has gotten because they think somehow its still good.
edit: Many things really but i see the fans acceptance of the bs as one of the primary things.
Exactly. Especially on the political bs.
Honestly I have a theory on your last point about the fans. I noticed that the main people who think Family Guy is still just as good as before are either
A.) People who are casual watchers of Family Guy.
Actually I love new family guy but episodes with messages are always terrible that abortion episode was an abomination.
Yeah, I can agree there. The show does better when it doesn't have a message, at east not the modern episodes because the show thrives on shock value and the message is just... Eh...
