    There is no “good” or “evil” in dark souls. You yourself aren’t necessarily good. You can literally murder everyone and bring an end to the world if you wanted or you can follow a righteous path. Enemies are just people with their own ambitions in a world where you can look out only for yourself.
    The story in fromsoft games are told environmentally: via experiencing the world, talking to characters, reading item descriptions and doing side quests. It’s told in bits and pieces across numerous sources which when put together give you a bigger picture. It’s easy to play through the world without gaining any insight as to why things are the way they are and why enemies exist or their story and motivations.
    Like one boss Sif in Dark souls 1 is a giant wolf which you need to kill. He literally is just guarding is masters grave and will start limping and falling over when near death. You’re the evil in this situation but it’s a necessary evil for the story to continue

    • @DeeFourCee

      @Aldin Majstoric that’s literally what I said. .-. Learn to read

    • @DeeFourCee
      @DeeFourCee Год назад

      @Aldin Majstoric no…that’s a partial quote… Let me explain how context works
      There is no definitive “good” or “evil” characters. Everything is scale of moral decisions. I even said the player isn’t necessarily a good person either based on choice you can make. So again. Learn to read. Also you probably don’t understand the use of “quotation marks” they can be used in a number of ways. The way I used it is to say that his quoted definition of “good” and “evil” Don’t need exist in the world.
      So no there is no “good” nor “evil” because from the context of what the content creator implied is that your a good guy and everyone else is bad which isn’t true. The game isn’t black and white morality.
      I even gave an example with Sif where the player isn’t a good person but committing the evil task is necessary to progress the plot. This example is used with CONTEXT that the player isn’t necessarily a good player and emeries not necessarily bad as Sif was just a dog guarding his master’s grave. I spoke about how enemies are just people making their way through the world too the same as the player and were just as capable and probably did commit acts of both good and evil but you still need to kill them regardless

    That’s what I love about Demons Souls, The Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring. They only tell you fragments of the story and more of the story is explained through reading item descriptions on weapons and armors and reading things In the world or finding strange locations that reveal little bits however everything isn’t fully explained which leave a lot of the story up for discussion and debate among the playerbase. It keep the worlds From Software create feeling intriguing.

    The dragons aren’t all evil, so to speak. They are just dragons! Apex predators that got no time for the likes of your simple character… Regardless of whether you fall on the side of good or evil.

    • @Alucia0
      @Alucia0 2 года назад +12

      Not even that. The "dragons" that you face through the games aren't true dragons. The stone dragons were not good or evil, light or dark, they just are. They aren't predators cus in their time there was nothing other than them in existence. They didn't do anything, they just existed becoming part of the landscape its self.

    The Dark Souls game mechanic is that you're going on an adventure in which you're going to die repeatedly, respawning from save points, but the game actually works this old trope into an incredible story. Your characters are a form of Undead, cursed to come back to life over and over again until your quest is complete.
    The greater story is post apocalyptic Fantasy. Your quest is to defeat the creatures which hold power over the world, to either bring about a new age or to end it utterly.

    Dark Souls (and Elden Ring) etc give a unique fantasy feeling. The feeling of the world on the verge of death, continuing to slowly die. They don't tell you the story up front. You have a specific goal and it's up to you to piece together the details if you want to go looking for them. Even npcs and sidequests are similar. You have to find little details and items that explain characters or enemies. To the point where almost every character and boss has a history and motivation and reasoning for being the way they are.
    There are channels on youtube dedicated to piecing together and explaining the lore in detail.

Only difference these are much older games during the PS1 and N64 days but they are still pretty fun. Hopefully, you might react to those too.

    There's no concrete evidence of just how much time has passed in the games universe between the events of Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 3. The only thing we really do know specifically is that the time between the Dark Souls 1 cinematic and when you first take control of your player character is 1,000 years, but after that the span of time between Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3 are astronomical. It's honestly probably a number so big it'd be hard to wrap your brain around it. Gwyn managed to extend the Age of Fire(and Gods) by 1,000 years just by sacrificing himself as well as his most trusted knights and what was left of his fragmented Lords Soul. If his Lord Soul was intact and whole, and combined with all of the other Lord Souls out in existence, who knows how much time could go by between linkings of the fire. Then on top of that you factor in that the character you play as in the first Dark Souls game isn't the only person to also link the fire before the events of Dark Souls 2. Hundreds, perhaps even thousands of heroes have gone through the arduous task of linking the flame every time it starts to go out by the time the events of Dark Souls 2 happen. And by the time Dark Souls 3 happens people of that world have done it SO many times it's actually become an organized religious event.

    From what I know the Dark Soul series feels very goth with destroyed looking kingdoms and castles. I’m not sure if it’s the same as bloodborne but I think in Dark soul games you are basically a nobody trying to defeat all the zombie creatures in your path and defeat bosses which seem evil. Dark Soul games are very tough and cruel. The amount of damage you can take before you die is close to nothing.

    The dragons ruled the world the lords defeated the dragons and ushered in the age of God's the furtive pygmy represents mankind and the dark sign is an affliction upon mankind causing them eventually lose themselves and become hollow. Your goal in the game is to find the lords obtain their great souls once you have you make the choice to rekindle the flame continuing the age of God's or don't rekindle and let the flame die sit upon the throne and usher in age of darkness or the age of mankind.

    • @erickthomas325
      @erickthomas325 2 года назад +3

      Well put in a nutshell! I just wanted to add for Mario and Nicole the explanation that “hollow” is like zombies in a sense, except for that you’re not mindless. Rather it’s maintaining your life and consciousness and spirit eternally, but your mind along with your body and flesh and soul decay. In other words you lose your humanity! Which by the way you also fight for to regain throughout the game by means of gaining humanity back by occasionally taking it from the others you kill along the way. In turn it will reverse the decay and death turning you (fully) human once again should you choose to offer it when rekindling the flame. Or at least until the next time you die. And you will… Alot!!!

    It takes multiple playthroughs to grasp the story (with the help of the community) so its okay to not understand whats going on from the opening cutscene. The magic of the series lies in the fantasy , the cutscenes only provide a bit of context theres barely any information about whats going on in the series.

    They fought against the Dragons because the Dragons represented the absence of disparity; in some sense they are neither alive nor dead, because they originate from this age of greyness where the concepts of Life and Death didn't exist, until the Flame came along. Their scales are what makes them immortal - they can be thought of as a total barrier to their inner body, so even when Life and Death became a concept, their insides were protected from that.
    In DS3 the "Repair" sorcery says "light is time" to explain that it essentially reverses a weapon in time to fix it. Gwyn's Sunlight Spears were not electricity per se, but condensed Sunlight, therefore condensed time. I think the spears for this reason could crumble the dragons' scales as if accelerating the erosion of the stone scales (or, reversing the growth of the scales) which would happen normally over time but, I'd assume, the dragons were able to grow these scales/regrow them, and they are naturally incredibly resistant to damage so pure damage output just wouldn't cut it.
    By peeling the scales, they became unprotected from the effects of the Flame, Life and Death and so were able to be killed once stripped of their scales.
    This is probably also the reason Seath the Scaleless (the pale "fleshy" dragon in the DS1 opening) is so obsessed with obtaining immortality through some primordial crystal, because he was born scaleless and therefore vulnerable to Death.

    The story and plot of Dark Souls is simple:
    In a world where there is nothing (not even time) there are stones, trees, fog and dragons (lower creatures dig among the roots like worms). One day, a Flame appeared, and the four lower ones received strength from it (Souls. Soul of death for the First Dead Nito, Soul of Life for the Witch of Izalith, Soul of Light for Gwyn the Lord of the Sun, and Soul of Darkness for a nameless pygmy). Three Lords created servants for themselves (Nito invented necromancy, the Witch created the Daughters of Chaos and began to develop pyromancy, Gwyn created the Silver Knights and the Wonders of Lightning), and the pygmy broke his dark soul and distributed it to other lower beings (which created the human race). The pygmy became known as Manus, The Primorial Human (Later he was called the Father of the Abyss). Gwyn, being the owner of the soul of light and having terrible megalomania, called himself a god and forced all of humanity (creatures with a dark soul) to worship him (he treated them like dirt). Most of all, Gwyn was afraid of the extinction of the flame, since this meant that the era of darkness would come and he would lose his powers, and the owner of the Dark Soul, on the contrary, would receive incredible power (since the first owner of the soul broke it and transferred it to humanity, this meant that all of humanity would become incredibly mighty and strong). Gwyn put a curse on people (later known as the curse of the undead) that prevented people from absorbing darkness from the outside world (in the natural order of things, people are filled with darkness, they can absorb and expel it, which leads to a balance in nature, but because of the curse, people they only expel darkness, which ultimately makes them just mindless empty shells, and the world around begins to mutate, which once led to the appearance of the Abyss, a clot of darkness filled with humanity, which gave consciousness and will to everything it came into contact with) Gwin managed to deceive people and make them think that the curse came because of the darkness and the fading of the fire. People, believing their god, began to roam the world and destroy all powerful creatures to absorb their souls and darkness/humanity in order to turn themselves into "embers for the First Flame".
    The game begins at a time when the flames have almost died out, and almost all the heroes have burned in the Flame or become hollow shells of themselves. The goal of the protagonist is to collect the strongest remaining souls and burn in the First Flame. However, after the battle with one of the bosses, we get into the Abyss and there we can talk with the primorial serpent, who will tell the truth (and offer to join the "Dark Spirits" covenant and invade the game of other players and kill them by taking away their humanity and souls). At the end of the game, we must make a choice: Light the First Flame and prolong the Age of Light, the Age of the Gods, or leave and become the First Dark Lord, start the Age of Humans.
