The DS3 opening hits hard if you've already got knowledge of ds1 and ds2. The world we see in ds3 is much more withered and decaying, dark souls is very cyclical in nature and there is a big contrast in just how far gone everything is by ds3

The og DS release had a lot of issues- internal resolution capped at 720p, modding the fps to 60 broke things, alt-tab would crash DS, no vsync, anti-aliasing looked like shit but luckily the remaster addressed all the bad code. The gameplay is unchanged cause that's what fromsoft wanted but the remaster is infinitely more polished

I find it a little ironic that even though the Furtive Pygmy is possibly one of the least known characters in Dark Souls, that I know of, they appear to have had a stupidly profound effect on the world since I think the soul they happened to recover was the famous or infamous Dark Soul. I'm gonna also mention that the original directors of DS2 (who were later removed from the project) were the root of DS2's problems - messed up game engine that was so complex that even From Software's computers couldnt handle it so they had to downgrade DS2's graphics; bad execution of their "We're gonna make DS2 BIG" idea that left the world a bit nonsensical sometimes; etc. In their place Yui Tanimura and one other dude were put in charge, and tried to fix and patch the game before the release date (Bandai Namco severly shortened their development time so they had to hurry with the game which can be noticed sometimes.)
However DS2 was the only Souls game that I was truly immersed in. The atmosphere, world-building and the lore are my favourite out of the Trilogy. Many people don't see it though bc they had already made their opinion by reading some dudes online say "DS2 is bad", and so they never actually checked out the game.

Dark Souls 1 still holds the best atmosphere as it has seamless transition between locations while all connected as one world that provides amazing variety. I could not help but laugh at the transition from Earthen Peak to Iron Keep. I also believe the architecture is incredibly boring compared to the other 2 games. To answer your question - the opening cinematic for Dark Souls 1 Remastered that you watched is the exact same opening cinematic the original Dark Souls 1 from 2011.
In fact, not much is changed from the 2011 "Prepare to Die" Edition of Dark Souls 1 and the Remaster.
It is of course still an amazing game and the Remaster is the only version of the game you can still purchase, but the "Remaster" is also considered to be a bit of a lazy port job by a 3rd party porting studio - very little quality of life improvements, not even much of an improvement when it comes to textures and lightning, fixed very few of the known bugs/glitches and netcode problems, and overall kind of a cash grab unfortunately.
Dark Souls 2 had a lot more marketing behind it from Bandai after the success of Dark Souls 1, and the opening trailer cinematic is much more stylized as a result. The game... bears very little resemblance to the cinematic to be honest. DS2 is the only one *not* directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, who was busier with Bloodborne's development at the time, and it shows in some ways. It was very ambitious, tried to do a lot of new things, and did some right, but a lot more (arguably) wrong. Its still a Souls game though, so even if you like it the least, its very much a good game and worth playing.

When in my first playthrough half if not more of the bosses had hit boxes so bad you would think it was coded on actual stone tablets, not to forget that their AI stopped working and they just stood there looking confused after getting hit 1 too many times.
If you like it for it's gameplay good for you. It's just that I have standards slightly higher than "well it's not complete dogshit".
I'm not denying that powerstancing in Elden Ring came from DS2, but that would've good implementation regardless.
      However,
Assetics, ADP, Life gems, 8 directional movement, fall damage scaling makes no sense, spells and arrows going straight through walls, weird acceleration system that causes you to fail jumps or fall to death randomly (unless full sprint), AI causing enemies to either stop working or falling to their deaths, enemies getting into each other's way preventing them from actually moving, enemies dropping aggro randomly (sometimes inches from your face).
Having replayed it recently in annual souls series rerun DS2 is 4.5/10 AT BEST comparing to all other fromsoft games. Only quality part being DLCs is also insanely bad since base game has only 2 good bosses assuming you don't over level due to tens of millions of souls you get even without farming.
Story is fine, gameplay is like stitched up and revived cadaver who forgets where he's going and why every 2 mins. It works if you're lucky, but chances are higher that it will start falling apart.

What's funny about DS2 & 3's intros is they're representative of older versions of the games. By that I mean they had such rocky developments their stories were re-written multiple times long after those CG intros were made, and since it's relatively expensive to commission full FMV for their games, they didn't bother changing them or make new ones. They just wrote different dialogue for the narrator to dub over them. Most people would never notice because of how vague and mysterious the intros are.
This isn't spoiling anything (because it was ultimately changed) but an example would be the story of DS2 used to involve time-travel. And no, that's not a joke, that's why the intro has a whirlpool in the water as it transports the player to a different era. DS3 was basically about the world coming to a definitive end but then that was changed 4 different times until it became what the final game ends up being about.
So now all the intros have been recontextualized. Lol

If you think about it, It's probably why Elden Ring's intro is just a dude talking over stills of the concept art for the game. They didn't have the money or time to make a proper CG intro because of the marketing. I'm willing to bet the story trailer for Elden Ring is actually the original Intro but it was repurposed into an ad and that's why ER has such a different opening than all their other games. lol 😂

Don't pay attention to those who directly speak badly about DS2 at the first opportunity they get, how can you be a fan of a saga and try to ruin new people who discover it for themselves. DS2 is a great journey, in my opinion it has a much richer and deeper lore than DS1 but without losing the theme, simply expanding the world and the stories. Its true that the gameplay changes a little, but its normal as its a different game. Playing a DS isn't just about running forward with a giant sword, it's about taking your time to appreciate the world and playing smart so you don't get frustrated.
At this point I'm sure that the people who talk shit about DS2 have already forgotten why, generally they are people who have not even played the game or have heard some big streamer talk bad about it, or perhaps if they have played it, they want play it going full forward, rolling like crazy and dying countless times. But if that happens, it is not the fault of any game, but rather that they cannot adapt to a different gameplay.y

The best explanations for what sort of is and happens comes with playing all 3 games. Dark Souls 1 is often known for how your environment comes together. DS2 is known for emitting a more tranquility vibe and the most buid expression options and fashion. DS3 is considered the best for bossfights and ending the story. As an expression enthusiast, I myself love DS2 the most, followed by DS3. DS1 has options, but I find there's twice the mannerism and timing expression to explore upon it which you can miss and not explore builds at all. The weird part about that is that there's 3-6x the secrets in Dark Souls 2 than the other two. Definitely play them in order for maximum context and see what you recognize.

in terms of "first experience/playthrough" "my rank goes demons souls (2009) cuz it was the first and i loved the dark atmosphere even more so than dark souls 1. then from there in order, i go ds1, bloodborne, ds3, ds2, elden ring. i dont include sekiro because it substantially deviates from the gameplay of the other games for me personally but that game was amazing as well. if i take into account subsequent playthroughs and replayability experience...it changes up abit. ds3 in that regard might be my favorite then ds2.

Beckachuu: "It's quite similar to Elden Ring intro isn't?"
Me: Are you for real? Dark souls series and Elden Ring are in the same company that develops them, Fromsoft, of course they have the similar feels, but Dark Souls series are pretty straight forward of their stories, and if you want to know more of the lore of he world, read every item's descriptions you come across, since that's where almost all of the lores are.
Anyways, put that aside love your reaction to the Dark Souls series even though it has been passed for a month now, cheers, and don't go hollow 😉.

Rule of thumb. Fire isn't actually fire. It's literally the energy of existence. there was know disparity before it. Disparity means opposite spectrums and differences. Basically things as simple as night and day didn't exist before it.
In a way, Fire was something close to the big bang. Except it can be harnessed.

Would like to recommend although I know alot of people would reason otherwise to save Bloodbourne for last in the series and have the darksouls series completed first. Until you're nothing but an empty Husk, standing in front of luscious Gates, without even knowing why :) Elden Ring is a perfect Game with flawless Lore contained within itself; but the Dark Souls Trilogy is an entirely different Beast of a Story. Interwoven Plotlines and the Concepts of Sadness, Hopelessness and Heroism to explore. The Fire fades, and only Darkness will remain...

Ok, so about Dark Souls 2: it is a really really good game
The problem is that most people compare it to Dark Souls 1, which is consistently titled "The best video game of all times", so it's not really a dair comparison.
And of course, a lot of people are annoyed at DS2 because it tried out a lot of new concepts and tried to be similar to DS1, but still be vastly different
I personally prefer it over 3 in terms of story and concept for this reason, it tried to be it's completely own thing, unlike 3 which, mostly, went back to being 1 again
Anyways, I love all of them and will replay them until I die

Darksouls 2 is the weakest and worst of the souls games, however it is still a gold standard to most games around the time it came out.
It plays with mechanics that the other games either didn't have or dropped and has some artificial difficulty with enemy placements, but if you have 2 platinum games and a gold game, it means the gold is still good, just not as good as the platinum, for all those saying how bad ds2 is.

@@beckachuu Most hate it for its gameplay due to being technical downgrade to DS1 due to being made by completely different Fromsoft team, story is ok. Gameplay has a lot of clunckiness and hidden mechanics that some of them are being discovered to this day, not because game is deep, rather game either doesn't tell you what certain stats do or in case of certain one straight up lies in it's description.
Hit boxes worst out of entire series, strafing is slower when locked on for no reason as well, very often enemy AI will get lost and forget what it's doing even to this day.
It has it's charm and you might get lucky to not encounter a lot of game's flaws, but temper your expectations gameplay wise, since that's were game is at it's weakest.

elden ring is a spiritual sequel to the dark souls series. It has nothing to do with dark souls lore or story but they are essentially the same concept of game. Also most people who play souls games started with dark souls three so the nostalgia tells them its better. 3 has a lot of objective issues but that's for you to decide.
