Just to be clear, I DO NOT think using summons is “cheating” in Elden Ring. I’m all for enjoying the game the way you want and the summons were put into the game for a reason. When I say I “cheated” by using them on mohg I’m only saying this cause I did a no summons and no magic run. I cheated my own rule, not the game in general. No shame in using summons at all :)
I get it. Summons are technically not cheating, but they do change the fight drastically. Even magic doesn't. Some bosses are harder with magic. I do cast magic, but don't use it exclusively. Some fights I did full parry, like the Crucible Knights or Nox Duo. I did use sleep on the godskin fatty and Godskin Duo. IDK how you no-hit it otherwise. Sleep is kinda cheese on then though, majorly.
You're not alone in wanting to compromise with Mohg. He ain't necessarily the easiest boss to fight when he turns the game into team fortress 2 area denial. But i did manage to beat him with just a bow so anything is possible :)
I’ll throw this out there, one of the most fun playthroughs I had was trying Iron Pineapple’s Pacifist run to the extent that I could. Some bosses where he had to get real cheesy I just fought normal, but most of my boss fights were buffing and healing my summons.
So to explain what happened, he jumped off the cliff not expecting the death bird to take "fall damage" since it should be able to fly. That wasn't the case and it took the full 15k damage. Every person that reacted to thar part also had the same reaction of "what? You could kill it by having it jump off the cliff?". He uses mods for those camera shots, and the PSX bloodborne isn't an official fromsoft game, it's a passion project that is full dedicated to mimicking how the Playstation 1 played and ran (so yes the frame drops are intentional).
First time I saw it, I knew exactly why it worked. I was surprised it’s not more common. Fall damage is usually percentage based, but only Elden ring gives a mount that displaces the character’s fall damage 🤷♀️

I accidentally killed the death bird like that, got killed by the skeletons and rushed it, didn’t know the bird spawned and it followed me off the cliff and I only noticed when I got the weapon, I was so confused

Man Godskin duo, walked into that room with a plus 3 moon veil, no mana and a single health flask. Managed to do it that first try. I don't think I blinked the whole time, I'd never been so locked into a fight. Felt so good after it took me TWO DAYS to beat the Godskin Apostle in the Dragonbarrow tower. I was VERY familiar with the whole moveset. It was MUCH harder on subsequent playthroughs.
19:26 idk what it's called but it's a mod that records the game like a replay save and he can get then record the footage through that to get those angles. I've seen that in GTA Online videos, pretty handy
knowing him the dumass probably modded her to hell and back to make her harder (yes those mods exist because let's be honest we are praying we fight prime versions of these characters )
There's actually a Bloodborne "demake" made by a single dev for emulating on a PS1. Looks really cool. Apparently plays pretty decently as well. Like an actual PS1 Soulslike. I kinda regret the fact that I only fought Mohg after I already beat Malenia so I was both overleveled AND had Waterfowl Dance in that fight lol

@beckachuu Probably. There's only 1 BS way to dodge it up close, which wouldn't work without bones. Though I consider DRB harder, at least to no- hit, because of that stupid fire in the ground. And the scream with no warning. Aside from O'Niell I no hit all the bosses on my first run because I'd seen them before. I used Ghostflame Ignition with Agheel's Flame to keep proccing Frostbite on Melania while she was doing her bloom at the start of phase 2. But the Death Rite Birds wound up both dying to gravity for me. Could not no-hit beat them lol. The Death Birds were OK. It was the stupid Ghostflame...
Mohg is my absolute favourite boss, I'll skip to him using Varre almost every playthrough and just spend a while fighting him every dozen levels or so until I beat him, just click with the tempo so naturally, which sadly is not the case for most other players I've seen since everyone just thinks he's bs.

Mohg was easy for me, but I was using mimic tear with blasphemous blade. Haven't fought Maliketh yet cause I keep missing where to go to fight the 2 headed dragon. I've been running in literal circles, idk where it is. And I'm not sure, but my instincts are telling me I'll lose access to that boss if I beat Maliketh first. Also there's a physick flask tear in Altus Plateau that nullifies Mohg's rings on us

I'm pretty sure he'll be more difficult when I fight him on a new character. It's just that me and my mimic spamming blasphemous blade L2 kinda makes humanoid bosses a joke. Malenia took 6 attempts, the duo gargoyle bosses took me around 2 dozen attempts because for me they kept spamming their poison breath which does more physical damage than poison buildup. And I didn't get blasphemous blade yet when fighting them. My mimic was dying a lot to the poison breath cause summons don't have survival instincts when it comes to statuses
those birds are a shining example of really bad boss design trend in elden ring: large bosses with camera issues combined with high mobility and them constantly jumping around and AOE spells. its justified in dragon fightts cuz they dont move alot so its balanced in those, but then assholes like the valiant gargoyles and death birds are just like NOPE.
hey, at least death birds and death rite birds get wrecked by holy, comparing them to the gargoyles is criminal, they resist everything, they just resist magic less, and they dodge ranged attacks, DB/DRB are a walk in the park comparatively
@@canadiangopnik7007 that is a good point. fuck the gargoyles lol. but i still think in terms of design if the way to make a moveset of a boss less obnoxious is simply out-dps it so that it doesnt have a chance to do the move in question is still lame. like ive killed those birds so many times and the few times i use holy i just think well i just beat it by simply outright not having to deal with the moves completely cuz i delete the boss in 5 or so ash of war attacks. with that said i will take the death rite birds over the twin gargoyles any day. the gargoyles are all the issues of the death rite + double boss + no weaknesses + nearly invisible poison attack. with that said, i think ds3 and sekiro were probably the peak of boss design (movesets/behavior wise)

But, Mohg is easy? At least it got easy once I started dancing with him and letting him come to me. Patience and rythm. Depending on the speed of the weapon you're using you can punish him during his combos, rather than waiting the entire thing through. As for the fire thing, just be patient, don't force it and let him come to you.
I had the whole fight down perfectly at some point and I just kept dying to the flames on the ground. It just felt so frustrating. I ended up using summons but I’m pretty sure I also got super lucky on my winning run, I maybe wouldn’t even have needed the summons on that one. Other than that the second phase felt nearly impossible to me.

I hear some people spending more than 2 hours on a boss without going and doing other stuff in-game (like simply leveling up or more weapons) and I keep wondering to myself "Are they actually having fun at this point? Cause I sure wouldn't." Then again, there are a rare few people out there that actually found Malenia, Blade of Miquella easy, so I guess subjective opinions are important to understand.
I still dont understand why people actually felt really emotional at melinad deatt. We barely connected with her or knew her at all. She just showed up to talk to us about jesus at every church. Some people get easily attached i guess😂

my first playthrough I used mimic tear because it was a new mechanic and it was cool, and I beat Mogh in a few tries, my second, I did it solo and had a much harder time, didn't take more than an hour, but it was more than the first, but it was so much more fun, he remains one of my favourite ER bosses, easy top 5, maybe top 3

I still dont understand why people actually felt really emotional at melinad deatt. We barely connected with her or knew her at all. She just showed up to talk to us about jesus at every church. Some people get easily attached i guess😂

Also, just cuz a boss is hard it doesn't mean it isn't good. If Mohg took you less than 2 hours you're in the minority. But he's still a top 5 boss fight.
Are you referring to me saying I cheated cause I used summons? Just to be clear I DO NOT think using summons means you‘re cheesing it. I‘m all for enjoying games the way you want to and summons have been put into the game for a reason. I only say I “cheated” because I did a no summons and no magic run. I cheated my own rule, not the game in general. No shame in using summons at all :)
my first playthrough I used mimic tear because it was a new mechanic and it was cool, and I beat Mogh in a few tries, my second, I did it solo and had a much harder time, didn't take more than an hour, but it was more than the first, but it was so much more fun, he remains one of my favourite ER bosses, easy top 5, maybe top 3
