Annie, thanks so much for this amazing video. I have had a protruding umbilical hernia now for a few years. I am amazed at how quickly my hernia started going back in . I was always so self conscious about it and noticed that people would be starting at my stomach while talking to me. After just 4 or 5 times, it's hardly noticeable! Incredible. I will continue doing it everyday. ❤

Although I did find some videos about healing the diastasis problem, you're the first one that gives me hope regarding the hernia issue. I do need to be healed, because I have a 7 yo boy and a 5yo girl, full of energy, and I don't think it would be fair to them to prevent any kind of interaction with them because I did something wrong at the gym. You have my gratitude! God bless you. Greetings from Brazil!

Okay… I was skeptical. I accidentally made my postpartum umbilical hernia worse last night because I tried doing an ab roller push up. BAD mistake. I cried my eyes out. I had a small hernia and it was still small after last night, just worse. But I did this one time. ONE TIME. And it already looks better. I could feel it kind of suck back into my stomach. I’m going to keep doing it and maybe my whole hernia will resolve, or at least the extra damage I just did can be resolved. Thankful to have found this video!

Syeda Tehniyat you Will slowly see tesult after a month of At least Daily exercise program and great results in 3 months . Then slowly progress by adding elastic band around the thighs for progression then you could slowly challenge yourself with a Little bit more dynamic beginners Pilates that is in my program a 5 minute addition weekly challenge .. there is also a lot of factors which is lifestyle , so if uou sit all day at work then it is a Little hit challenging so make sure you walk every 30 minutes sitting for at least 5 minutes to stretch your legs . If you lift and Carry heavy objects as your Job, then Try to pace yourself and wear an abdominal binder while lifting to protect your hernia. If you have uncontrollable strong coughs , Try to protect the hernia with a roller towel or soft pillow and the technique is called splinting. Best of health my friend 🙏❤️

When I started to teach more vinyasas and power yoga I wanted to ramp up core training in my yoga classes I remember that I rolled up into boat pose and pop went my hernia. What I was aware of is that I did not engage my bunda aka to vacuum my stomach in. Now I found your video and I am excited to see that there are many ways to correct this
I have a ? are you vacuuming the stomach in the hamstring stretch as well and when do you vacuum the stomach on the open mouth out-breath in the pillow exercise? Thank you so much for your videos Deep Love to you Soul Sister

BuddhasNButterflies hello my new friend , yes , always vacuum even to the slight eat change of movement to prevent the hernia to pop out . It is a lot of awareness and mindfulness to your core and the movement pattern should be Very slow, one breath and one motion while keeping everything together with your breaths and core engagement , . Thanks for trying this exercise program and Best of health my friend . I Will redo this video with better audio and visual quality soon . 🙏❤️😘

    Hi Annie!
Hope you are well ☺️ Could really use your expertise as I'm quite uncertain how to begin.
I can feel right above belly button there is something hard. Suspecting hernia as I've been chronically ill for a long time and lost alot of weight/muscles. My doctor thought it was one. Wisting to get a specialist on it to review CT scans from kidney and lung test.
Do you have any recommendations on how to proceed to strengthen and rebuild the wall? Is plank safe? Or are the exercises in your video a better option?
Can bloating cause it to worsen?
Also, when do I use a hernia belt? Heavy lifting only?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

So excited I found this video I found a web site that had the steps in detail but I felt I wasn't doing it right seeing it and doing it with the video is so much better. I have a hernia in my belly button from being pregnant with my son and it's not that bad I keep kinesio tape on it with a cotton ball to keep in from protruding out at all bc I have to lift my children and other stuff and it does wonders I have no pain or discomfort but my belly fat is still there like as of I was 4 months pregnant and the hernia is just staying the same. Hoping doing this long term I can fix my hernia. Or atleast get by long enough when life slows down a lil and I can have surgery. I breast feed to .

Recently diagnosed with hernia of the umbilical. I need to see a general surgeon. I wonder if exercise is better than surgery.

    • @AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist
      @AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist  4 года назад +1

bTrueEth it depends on how much is your hernia , if it is more than 3 inches width and causes a lot of protrusion with your internal organs such as your intestines and could cause future problems sometimes exercises are not enough. However if you are diligent on wearing an abdominal brace if you will be exerting heavy lifting or when you are exerting some deep uncontrollable coughs . Make sure don’t wear the brace too much because it could cause more abdominal weakness . As long as you do and include these exercises daily to slowly build your core strength . I will do a follow along exercises soon for umbilical hernia soon.

I have a question. Since I really enjoyed doing this with you. How long should I do this for because the video is about 19 minutes long. Should I do this video 3 times back to back 5 times out of the week to see results.??? This was great. This is the first video I have watch and went along with. I live your calm voice that instructs me on how to actually breathe while doing this. You are truly a blessing. And I believe I will see results.❤❤❤❤❤

Packaging: It came in a sturdy rectangular cardboard box that said Yoga on it. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZkaD2JsPC-fUMkF3vxJ2echoiXZ3T9aM I didn't like how it let possible package thieves know what might be contained inside but great packaging otherwise. The yoga mat came rolled up in a plastic wrap, which was fairly easy to remove.Contents: I got the green yoga mat and it came with an adjustable velcro carrying strap already secured to the mat. There was also a warranty card. There was a bit of a plastic smell coming form the yoga mat but it quickly dissipated after using it once.I've only used the yoga mat twice so far but I am loving it. It's such a game changer to my work outs, especially compared to my bed and floor, haha! I can confirm that it very thick, slip resistant, and comfortable. i didn't look at the dimensions prior to buying the mat, but it is so much longer than I expected! Width is normal size in my opinion. I don't know if it really is tear resistant yet... only time will tell!

Am I getting this because I’m older or most likely improper form? It’s been 21 years since I’ve had a baby so it’s not that! Lol
Thanks for the video. I’m gonna try these exercises. 😁

For the piriformis exercise, 1) do I breath in while folding my legs, or first breath a fully belly then cold my legs, or first fold legs then breath a fully belly? 2) when breath in do I try to expand my belly as much as I can, or breath in while holding the stomach in? Thank you.

Hello. I have umbilical hernia post my C section and its been 1 year and around 3 months since my c section. I was doing yoga for a few months after Three months of my delivery. I could only continue it till about three months and then i was not able to continue doing it as i got very busy taking care of my newborn. I could only do some stretches from time to time. From a couple of days i am having pain sometimes in my lower abdomen while i am walking or while i am in a car going over speed breakers. I was really terrified because of the present covid scenario and did not want to go to the hospital unless its serious. After my c section, my Gynec had said my umbilical hernia is not serious n to exercise my core muscles regularly. So i saw this video of yours today and tried it . I did it only once and i am feeling a lot better. The pain has reduced a bit i think. I ll keep doing this and will try other videos you've put on umbilical hernia and diastasis recti . Hope this helps. Thank you so much for this wonderful video. It helped alot. I will visit the dr. If frequency or intensity of the pain increases but i think the exercises might help reduce.

    • @AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist

Rolita Sequeira yes start with this and what you have is still not as separated as mischief , I have patients who recovered with 1 inch hernia . So you will be fine as long as you be careful on lifting anything too heavy more 10 pounds without abdominal brace . Try do these exercises at last 3 times a week to see results in a month .

I know this video is a little bit older but, I have had 3 umbilical hernia repair surgeries before (was born with one.) Always had super weak muscles, sickly child and working on reduction of being overweight. I found that I have a very hard time doing regular exercise. I am not sure if it's a reopening of the hernia area or previous scar tissue irritating the other areas, or poor healing from the previous surgeries. Will these help? Should there be any alterations? I unfortunately am coming from a severe out of shape body fitness right now, and just trying to find the best starting place that won't cause any damage to the umbilical area.

Zanuvar try the frost 4 exercises o this video with proper vacuum and core engagement demo it daily then a week later add additional 4 more until you could finish the whole video and feel your core and hernia area making sure it is not exacerbating during and after the exercises . Best of health and let me know how it goes z
