I felt like I was dying for two weeks. Had a CT scan that showed a HH. My doctor blew it off like it was nothing and told me to take Omephrazole and Gas X and said the pain will go away eventually. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat anything. I did these moves ONE time, all of them as instructed. I had immediate relief! I was able to sleep and eat. I will do these every day now!

I almost cried reading these comments. I’ve suffered with a severe hiatal hernia for over a year and the VA healthcare system is so very poor. Been to ER 3x and have confirmed with endoscopy I have one. Consultation issues, loss of weight and appetite and they haven’t given me any idea other than heart burn meds and fiber which hurt more than help. Just trying your breathing exercise helped me today and I’m just glad to know I’m not alone in my symptoms. Thank you god bless

I was diagnosed with a sliding HH back in February 2024 after my endoscopy. I was having chest pain, chest pressure, acid reflux, and mimicking a heart attack. I felt miserable but after a month and tons of medications I finally found relief. About a week ago the same pains came back and thought I was having a heart attack or a stroke but the er and my cardiologist said my heart was fine. After realizing that it was my HH I looked online for what to do and I must say it was immediate relief! Thank you so much for the video, it helped me save my sanity and know everything was going to be ok. Everyone suffering from HH you aren’t alone and it will be ok, you just need to find what works for you.

It was finally found after 4 hospital visits and can finally get my life back on track

  • @lifewithyana2924
    @lifewithyana2924 Год назад +192

Earlier this year in February was the roughest time for me. I remember randomly getting a tight feeling in my chest and freaking out thinking I was in danger. I ended up going to the emergency room four times from panic attacks because I didn’t know what was going on with me. I ended up being sent to the gastro doctor and I was nervous because I had to get an endoscopy and I did not want to go through that. It ended up being one of the most enlightening times in my life because I discovered how strong I was and that I shouldn’t be afraid of things that go on with my body or health anxiety. I learned it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world, and also to learn I was not in any danger. I have a small sliding hernia and now I am much better. I took pills for my stomach and it gets very uncomfortable sometimes when my hernia irritates my esophagus, but I am much calmer as a person now even when I have issues because I went through my biggest fear and strongest battle, facing things I didn’t think I could and beating my health anxiety PLUS getting a whole endoscopy. For anyone going through this, I pray your hernia heals more and more and we got this! We are in this together and you are NOT alone. ❤

I had digestive issues for nearly half of last year. I was miserable. I was diagnosed as having SIBO. I took some antibiotics and that seemed to help tremendously. But I believe the severe bloating from SIBO worsened my hiatal hernia. For about 3 months I’ve been suffering with heart palpitations probably due to impingement of the vagus nerve. Anyway, I did your exercises last night for about 15 minutes and for the first time in 3 months, the palpitations went away. I think I was able to get the stomach to move back down. Thanks so much for sharing this video. You really made a difference in my life. I just find it funny that all the doctor tells me is you have a hiatal hernia and take these meds. Never was I told that I may be able to slide the stomach back down. I’ve been suffering. Anyway thanks again!!

    Dr Jo,
First of all. Many many thanks for this priceless and amazing exercise for haital hernia.
Few weeks back all of sudden one afternoon my chest had become tight and couldn't breath. It's so severe and went to emergency. They confirmed nothing wrong with heart or lungs and sent me home. My condition not improved. I start eating very small meals rather than my regular meal(a large meal get me the same problem again). My GP said it might be hiatal hernia. Need a surgery. I was is in more stress after hearing this than my actual problem.
Finally, I came to know your video and did the last stretch only 3 times. It's miracle. No pain, no tightness. Amazing. You are real angel for me. It's 4 weeks now I am pretty normal. At the beginning it came back couple of times and I did the only last stretch again (I didn't feel better on all of the other stretches) it's gone

Thank you Dr. Jo for posting this instructional video, for the past two years I've been certain I was dying and it's affected every aspect of my life, health and being. I was convinced it was my heart, Cardiologist says no, the heart is healthy. My GP practically laughed me out of the office accused me of being a hypochondriac, not a single doc ever even mentioned the possibility of a hiatal hernia. Which pisses me off now I've discovered it and have been describing literally all of the symptoms to them.
Last week I had a particularly bad attack, that led to racing heart, anxiety and what feels like a spasming in my diaphragm. I was terrified, then when I belched it was relieved
That led me by chance while searching chest pains after eating I found your video. After one session of stretching it feels somewhat improved today. I see my gastro on Feb 14 hopefully there's a solution, even just knowing exactly what's happening wyell be such a relief . Thank you so much.

I refuse to take ppi medication long term so I'm making some dietary changes and found this video about actually fixing the hernia. I am all about fixing it, not masking symptoms with ppi drugs. Honestly the change that has helped the most is taking a quality fiber supplement daily with probiotics. Get your gut biome healthy and it will help. At least that's what has worked for me. I went from daily reflux to maybe once a month after eating something really spicy. The hernia hasn't been causing any problems. And of course I did the exercises in this video daily for probably 6 months. I'm sure that helped as well. Good luck to you!

While sitting here at the bench alone I kinda realized why not try this exercise and in God’s grace, it helped me breathe a little bit at least it lessens the chest tightening I'm feeling right now.
PS. It's kinda awkward. People are looking at me while doing this exercise but I don't care as long as it helps me with my difficulty in breathing.

Your videos and excercises have helped me so much! The burning irritation in my throat from GERD / acid reflux has greatly subsided... Doctors gave me prescriptions for Pantoprazole 40mg tablets 2X daily plus Sucralfate 1GM tab 2X daily, plus he just prescribed me one more medication for acid reflux. None of these prescriptions were helping... It felt like I was breathing through a straw while gurgling mucus with acid for hours at a time... this feeling of not being able to breathe well was causing me anxiety and every time I ate the burning would get worse again. The anxiety was probably making me produce more acid making matters worse. I have gone from 240lbs down to 190lbs in the last 6 months from Gerd and didn't know what was wrong... Now after doing these excercises (only for 4 days but I noticed relief immediately) I can breathe comfortably again!. Thank you so much. You may have literally saved my life.

Spent half of the day in the ER yesterday because of a mystery pain that's been undiagnosed for over 5 years. I have all the basics symptoms for this exactly but nothing has ever shown up to prove this on my scans. I had two months of coughing that followed my family having a severe flu which made it flare up. I can even remember day one of when the pain started and I was in great shape and in the process of doing a sit-up exercise. That was 5 years ago! I'm excited to see these exercises and will faithfully attempt them all to see if I can decrease this incredible pain under my ribs. My doctor said I'm basically the healthiest fat man he's ever seen in a round about way and proceeded to give me pain meds with patches. I'll update after a while of these exercises.

@@ismeetkohli6091 Hi Ismeet - These exercises do help. In my case, I discovered that caffeine was definitely a big trigger for me, so I cut that out and my reflux and HH have been much better since.

Dr. Jo, I just came across your site. I have had Hiatal Hernia since the 80s but had to have surgery 2 yrs ago. It came apart and a small part has gone up past the diaphragm. They scheduled my surgery twice and have cancelled it twice. It is floating so I am making a decision at this point to follow your exercises. What is funny, just naturally I was doing 2 of them to relieve the reflux that has been so painful and it helps with the gas build up also. Thank you soooooooo much for sharing and probably saving me such disappointment with my medical experience.

Hello first of all sorry for my english îm french 😊
I’m here just to write this comment hoppîng it will helps every person who have hiatal hernia.
The doctor told me that I had this problem and they They prescribed medication (stomach protector, stomach acid regulator) that I had to take every day. I took them every day for 2 months and they had no effect, but really 0. I suffered alone in my room, outside ... I constantly felt like a huge weight on my chest. As if someone had dropped 5kg of brick on my chest. I had a suffocating sensation, as if I couldn't breathe, a lump in my throat, it was very, very unpleasant. One day I got fed up, I wanted to find a solution on my own and I came across your video. I can't thank you enough. In just 2-3 days of practicing your exercises I was already feeling better. So I've continued every day. I've also combined it with a doctor's exercise, which involves drinking a glass of water on an empty stomach and getting back on your feet. And believe me, since then I've had no symptoms whatsoever. I'd like every sufferer like me to do these exercises every day and never give up, and I swear you'll see the difference. Thank you madame for this video, thank you for saving me from months of terrible pain.
Now I do this exercice at least once a week to keep it like that
Sometimes I get acid reflux, but it's not bad.
I've even managed to forget my problem, as if I didn't have a hiatal hernia.

Apparently, I've had this all my life but never noticed it until recently. I was a dancer/practiced bjj and used to be very limber/flexible so it never bothered me until I got older and sedentary. Now im starting to stretch again and will incorporate these exercises in aswell. Hope it helps

Wow! My HH, slid two weeks ago when I was putting on my tennis shoes. It felt like it never fully went back. I was sore in that spot when I and under my left ribs when I bent over, I had acid reflux and generally felt strange. Have an appointment with my gastro in four days to discuss. Followed this ONE time and it's so much better....in one go!!!

Hi Dr. Jo. I’m curious about the bridge one. Does that move actually help bring down the stomach also? Thank you for offering all of these videos that you do for us suffers❤️

I know that position can help reduce pressure in the abdominal cavity so that is perhaps how it helps move the stomach back down?
