I feel a little bit better after watching this Dr. I have not only an umbilical hernia but multiple ones (four children, four C-Sections). I am vomiting, have what is like GERD, and if I may be on and off soft and hard stools, depending what I eat. I find I have no appetite and am now on a liquid diet. Everytime I eat the pain gets worse (and yes next to the navel is very painful and the pain radiates to many areas). I have an appt. with a surgeon two weeks from now but I am worried about strangulation or incarceration. When would I know if I can't make it to that appt and go to an Urgent Care center? It is scaring me. Thank you very much!
I'm a 43-year old guy, who have just been diagnosed with an umbilical hernia, while going to a doctor for a throat infection! I have been sitting with this very small bulge above my belly-button for almost 2 years already, and I have always thought it is just a bit of belly fat. It causes me no pain or any discomfort. Hopefully a mesh would not be needed and only standard procedure from top with small incisions would fix this. It's small, soft and can be pushed back with no discomfort.
My wife umbilical hernia was revealed after she got pregnant and the doctor said surgery can only be done during her delivery 😢😢 but she is in server pain now and the pregnancy is only 3 months, must she go through these pains until when, now I'm getting mad 😭😭😭

Thank you for this video. I have a question I am hoping the Doctor or someone following this channel can answer. I had a CT scan of my abdomen about 2 weeks ago due to severe right flank pain. I was told there was no hernia, no mass, no infection, etc. Basically the doctor told me they did not see anything that would be causing my right flank pain. However, as I was reading through the overall CT scan results a couple of days ago, I saw there was a note in the FINDINGS section under EXTRA-ABDOMINAL SOFT TISSUES that states "Small fat-containing umbilical hernia". The doctor at the ER (where I had the CT scan) never said anything about this hernia, she told me there was no evidence of a hernia at all. Then I had an appointment 3 days ago with a Family doctor that saw the note for the umbilical hernia, but all she said was that this would not be the cause of my flank pain. Nothing was mentioned about getting this repaired at all, never mind waiting any amount of time. I have been having the right flank pain for over 7 weeks now, and no one can tell me why. I have had 2 CT scans (first without, then with contrast), an MRI and multiple doctors examining my right flank and abdomen with palpitations checking for a mass or abnormality with no findings of anything that would cause my pain. This pain is every day, all day as long as I am either standing or sitting. The only time the pain goes away is when I lay on my back. After 10 to 15 minutes on my back, the pain is completely gone. So, my question is does this hernia need to be repaired with surgery as soon as possible?

Can Bariatric surgery (Davinci XI assisted) be performed simultaneously when repairing a medium-sized umbilical hernia? I understand that if Bariatric Surgery is performed the Umbilical hernia will be sutured...but why is it not supported with a (polypropylene or other material mesh?). If sutured, there is still a contamination factor to consider which is valid...but why not 'RE-ENFORCE' with a mesh material? Is it because there is a higher incidence of contamination( INFECTION?) I am puzzled!

Hello sir. I just had open surgery to repair my umbilical hernia. The umbilical hernia was repaired previously (without a mesh) in 2021 during Davinci prostate removal but it returned 2 months later. My question is and I will of course consult with my surgeon, can I return to moderate weight lifting within a few months. I’m 56 and have lifted weights all of my life. It has sustained me but also caused a hernia. I certainly do not want to have my hernia reappear. Thank you doctor.

I just had this surgery 5 days ago at 37 yrs old. Fingers crossed the pain and bruising let's up. Sneezing is the scariest part.

Due to 2 delivery , 10 months vomit, and baby was 3.5 kg, I got umbilical hernia. 21 years I have bloating of tummy after surgery.

Dont do lipo. Cn even kill. Its not that safe. But risky.

Better to avoid, even if you do , always put on the tight abdominal belt , so that there is no pressure on the suture line
