Looks like I’m a dummy and didn’t have the Nostalgic merch correctly linked in the description! Whoopsie, it’s fixed now! Also, many people bring up Black Talon, but it’s more of a dawnblade in a sword than bolt caster!

btw new sword (temptation's hook) has every single one of black talons perks (excluding catalyst) in addition to a fourth perk (such as vorpal weapon, en garde and whirlwind blade, an easier to use variant of the catalyst), weapon mods and a masterwork, although the stats of temptation's hook aren't as good i'd still argue it's a direct upgrade.
You should know that killing gaurdians with just a sword hilt ( your sword without ammo) would count towards your quest progression

His raid was the only raid that you could 100% solo (pre-RoI). It was the equivalent of the legendary lost sector's from season of the worthy

I remember doing Dark Drinker’s quest when I started a Rumble match. The enemies realized I was trying to use a sword and so they like... they all STOPPED to let me kill them. Legit the rarest and luckiest match I’ve ever played-I wouldn’t have my fave Exotic sword if it weren’t for them.
The Destiny community is great for moments like these
I mean, people in Gambit let guardians kill them while they are in super just for the Dredgen title if you ask them nicely, it's great. Until the moment when the taken serverator is up, that's when people get super sweaty

That's an awesome moment. It was nice that everyone realized how terrible that grind was and helped you out. To this day, I have no clue why Bungie puts this kind of quest into competitive modes.
The first one I did, I ran around with the hilt. My teammates hated me for going 5 - 30, but that's 5 points of progress for me! I sure caused a lot of team losses before I thought of rumble, but to be fair, Bungie gave me and my team different goals. They wanted to win. I wanted sword kills. Great game design!

Young Wolf’s Howl just crying in the corner.
Crown-Splitter and Throne-Cleaver basically quietly taking it's place, and still equally as unused, despite not being that bad.
When I first got Young Wolf's Howl I was eating chicken alfredo and ever since then when I see and think of Young Wolf's Howl I taste Chicken Alfredo. Completely ruined the weapon for me.

Fun fact: you could level all the swords up to the final objective of killing the elemental type in the strike, and if done properly by a good team- you could make all of them exotic at once rather than having to run the strike 3 times. The most satisfying thing to see on your screen
I remember that moment vividly, great times, getting the 3 exotics swords was my most satisfying destiny moment.

Yeah after I spent hours and hours grinding to get all three exotic swords everyone else was allowed to buy it by getting the dlc. That’s some shit right there.
When I got the game in year 3 I used to use that just because it was a sword and it was fun, it would piss off my friend so much. Still my favorite sword lol

Bruuuh you really think this? What about last word and thorn in D2? And even if you don't have to grind 8 hours the most important exotics still have cool missions in their quests (like ace of spades or pandemic perfect to make some examples)

I remember being broke and not being able to afford the DLC lmao.
I stopped playing after Year 1 unfortunately. After memorizing every resource run like the back of my hand too.
Bolt caster will always be my baby, I’ll never forget that weapon. I don’t think I ever once took it off after I got it. Glad to have you back old friend
Monte Carlo was my best friend when I needed those void kills as a titan
I remember spending hours as a titan trying to grind out the void ability kills on the cosmodrome, issue is, the void subclass for titan is extremely defense oriented in d1, and it took actual DAYS to do, dark drinker=hardest sword
Wish I could go back in time and play when TTK was just released. So many epic memories.

Black Talon is less Boltcaster more Dawnblade in a heavy. It has its own animation, does void damage instead of arc, and doesn't leave that lightning cloud behind. It can also be used from the air, unlike Boltcaster

When I was going for bolt caster I managed to get 3 of the rare materials in a row so I thought:” Hey this isn’t that bad!” Then I took a legitimate hour and a half to get one more piece.

Because then Bungie would have to give a reason as to why we can save Saint-14 but not Cayde. and i'm pretty sure the reason he's dead in the story is purely a money thing, hell Nathan fillion didn't even do voice acting for Cayde in forsaken

Void not really. Dark drinker was a better option for ad clear yea but Raze was for single target melting
Dark drinker had the highest dps out of all 3 even for single target. That number was even higher if you knew how to animation cancel with it. It was tested extensively lol

My favorite thing about the Raze-Lighter is not just the serrated blade and how cool it looks on fire, but the fact that in the Red War mission Homecoming, Shaxx has one too.

You completely forgot about The Young Wolf's Howl added in Rise of Iron, that little beast was underrated.
It somewhat came back as the Titan-exclusive Crownsplitter greatsword, seeing as both it and the Howl have a slam heavy attack.
Ahhh gone are the days of me being sick while I spend literally a WHOLE DAY farming relic iron for dark drinker.
I was 15 at the time, and for some reason ive always remembered being on mars running the farm route for relic iron, and I never remembered why. I completely forgot that a step in the sword quest was to get the relic iron. This weirdly relieved me, because I finally remember WHY I remember that specific memory in the first place.

One of the main things for me was the insane design for all the swords. I don't know if this was just me being in awh of the power of the swords but just looking at them made me so happy.

The flashing is really bright it this episode. I don't know how much you can do about it, (maybe darken those parts?) but a warning at the start of the video for those with epilepsy could help.
I don't have epilepsy but even my eyes stung and left my head aching. I can imagine that would trigger someone with epilepsy pretty easy.

I matchmade to get Boltcaster, and met up with some really cool people. I had been a solo player for a year, and just really liked the exotics. The next day, they invited me to my first raid, King's Fall. This sparked a series of friendships that lasted years and we had so many awesome times, all because of these swords.
I made sure to get my Dark-Drinker on my Warlock when I did these. Bolt-Caster was on my Hunter, and Raze-Lighter (my first) was on my Titan.

Yeah. I remember when I had tried to farm for those swords in Taken King. I know I got Raze-Lighter once, but I don’t remember if I had gotten the others before I had finished with it. Either way, that was a crazy time.
I did this when I was 9 to get the Raze Lighter and this is still the most memorable thing for me. I remember sitting on a plad chair for 4+ hours running around the dreadnaught killing the majors n' shit.
How the hell did I miss that you uploaded this... I've been waiting for it.

The Bolt Caster was amazing also for obrs of light when playing as a hunter with light of the pack and the exotic helm it maybe the weakest out of the bunch but when played correctly it could serve multiple use in raids strikes and so on
Man I love these new versions of those swords. I fell in love with Raze Lighter and especially Dark Drinker. Not so much Bolt Caster but the new legendary version is so much fun as well

@@nva1377 when I mentioned Bolt Caster i was referring to the D1 exotic, the D2 legendary version I really enjoy personally. It's a great sword that just gets overlooked for Guillotine

Bolt Caster was my Blade of choice when it was released and is still my favorite of the three for two reasons:
1. a Blue Destructo-Disc I could throw into a mob of enemies (or at a boss)
2. Bolt Caster's ability to make orbs of light with Live by the Sword, and having a pretty great chance to make them as well.
Basically with the right build on my Nightstalker hunter I turned into a walking Light Orb Fountain, giving everybody multiple Supers back to back, and it was awesome! :D
