Meet Randal the Vandal! Destiny's and more specifically Bungies longest running Easter egg in all of Destiny ! Video games always have some sort of easter egg, but for Bungie and Destiny, this one stands above the rest! This started as a coding bug, turned into a community joke, turned into a Wrath of the Machine Easter Egg, then in the Sunken Isles of Destiny 2 and for Shadowkeep in Altars of Sorrow! Will their be a return in Beyond Light in the Cosmodrome or Europa? Time Will Tell! I hope you enjoy!

Hey, that's why I was delayed, so they could make a dungeon/raid, just for him, only 3 enemies in the entire thing, one dreg, one shank, and one lone vandal atop his throne.

The first thing I did after beating the beyond light campaign was to search for Randal. I was not disappointed, just brutally slaughtered.
Did wrath on Saturday on we kept saying “Dude we need to find Randal the Vandal”
Did you find him? It took me 54 runs to even see him and he was low when I got to him and our teammate killed him

You have to flawless the raid until after seige engine then he shows up in the server farm to kill you

I remember when I was just doing patrols and going for the gold chests in the Sunken Isles, I saw a vandal and a shank. I went up to it "No problem, just kill these two and get the chest" but it didn't go that way. That vandal was taking all my ammo and super. Then it hit me: "Randal? You're alive?!" and I just smiled as I continued to take him on for the next 3 minutes (I was on my own) and managed to triumph over him. I loved seeing him back

2 years ago, an exo became a titan.
This exo would go to the red legion ship to farm cabal and fallen for some bounties, when the titan saw a fallen with... a yellow health bar?
The titan decided to fight the yellow health bar fallen... and lost.
This was the story of my titan when I was very low level.
He better be a lost sector boss in the Forgotten Shore.

Me and my brother hit the Cosmodrome day 1 on Beyond Light. Went to the Forgotten Shore and sure enough, Randall was there.
Destiny Logic on Making a Boss: *Take a normal enemy, give it 1 billion health, and rename it* 🤪

And make it to where you can't use shotguns because every boss has a stomp mechanic

Wait a minute!? This guy was a freaking easteregg?! When I started play Destiny 2 I ran in to this guy on my first day I'm pretty sure. I took a couple pot shots at him, realize it wasn't doing anything and ran off as quickly as I could, thinking my light level just wasn't high enough yet. I barely managed to get away. Never run in to him again, ever. I just thought he was a regular enemy, wished I'd know he was a legend.

Fun fact: there is a community developed game called DNDestiny. In it you can make guardians of not just humans, awoken and exo, but ALL races. As a member of the fallen, you get to increase your creature power by eating there diet and should you exceed and maintain that diet you can go from a dreg, all the way to a Kell or Archon depending on how you build them. So if you wanted to BE Randal the Vandal, you got a chance!
Randal was so badass he literally had his own boss room in the raid.

The battle twas legendary guardian, for three days and three nights we fought. Out of ammo we had resorted to fisticuffs, I pushed my light to its limits and was almost not enough, but in the end I had him dead to rights. Then I left him, for he was the greatest foe I have fought. Maybe we will see each other again.
I never played Destiny 1 (cause it never came out on pc), so I had no clue as to what you were talking about at the beginning of this video, but...
Then you mention that annoying Fallen enemy that is constantly causing me grief whenever I am doing public events in the Sunken Isles... or that pesterous Fallen enemy on the moon that causes me a lot of pain when I am trying to do the nearby altars of sorrow in Sorrow's Harbor...
Now I get it! Didn't even know they had anything to do with each other. Very cool, but also so, so, annoying.

I think you missed the vanilla D2 version of Randal, I remember both Randal and Hank would spawn quite often when you’d teleport too the red legion ship on the cosmodrome

It's one thing for them to have you fight Randal Perfected in the Wrath of The Machine raid, but the fact that they put an overpowered Vandal with a Shank in the EDZ, and later a Nightmare of Randal in Shadow keep, ad later removed the EDZ Vandal and put Randal as a randomly spawning miniboss in the returning Cosmodrome is awesome. That's 5 times we could say Randal showed up.

Don't know about him on Europa [not encountered him there yet] but I know he's back in the cosmodrome in Beyond light, cause I fought him day one of the expansion while checking out the new light quest. [Existing players can get the questline via the new console to the left of the postmaster, tucked away between the wall and the ramp.]
I gotta say dude, I really enjoy your content. It reminds me of why I love destiny so much. I think my favorite video so far is the Corridors of time video. Hearing about how all of it went down in such an in depth manner really makes me regret not being there at that point in the game. Keep up the good work, I look forward to more content!

Quick fan theory: Randal is actually the first guardian to ever exist. Before the traveler left, along with splicing power, he granted Randal the power of light. The reason he comes back and is so powerful is because he is the most powerful guardian. He's a hunter ofc

My fav Easter egg was getting into the Rasputin's room that never opened to the public. The one in the Cosmodrome, with the chairs and one had lights on around it. Was stoked to finally get into it after going to it for years.
