I just love how you casually teach us a very useful tips like overlay blending mode and expression on hair 😂, so many hidden tips on all your video. As always, love the video!
just wanna say, your current vocal recording and processing sound extremely pleasing and good to me. i know it's a small thing, but not everyone hits it
I'm very glad to hear that, audio processing is an area I've never been properly educated in. I'm always trying to make my voice sound better, so it's encouraging that you've noticed!
oh rubber rig is the shit, there’s almost NO tutorials that cover it as the clear obvious best way to do custom character rigs (for most uses cases)!!!!
This was great! I have been waiting for a concise and clear tutorial on how to use RubberRig and you delivered sir. This gave me a ton of ideas for how to apply this to projects.
What I usually do when using a reference layer/comp is to apply a Fill effect to it. Pick a very bright and distinguishable color (the default bright red usually does the job), so it's easier to be pixel-perfect with the placement. Of course, being 100% precise isn't always a necessity, however it's come in handy for me a lot of times.
Yes, even I do the same. And we can create null and parent all related layers to null, adjust the position wherever you want. Once done, zero the null position or other properties and delete the null
I am a 3D Maya rigger for high end VFX. Thank you for the video. It feels unreasonable that you have to move\distort the layers (twice!) instead of moving the pivots. I like the built in "realism" (squash and stretch), but I think this would all be easier to rig and animate (especially animate) in Maya (using orthographic camera to keep everything 2D if you like)... Moving the model is extremely unacceptable in 3D vfx rigging (even if you 'eyeball' it back in)
Hi Jake, thanks for another awesome tuto. I've been using Duik cos it can cover most of my work. Just curious, how's the performance of the stretch and bend made with Rubberhorse? I don't know what principles Robberhorse uses to do the stretch for the artwork. Duik uses puppet pins which means when you have a big artwork or complex layers, it really slows down the interactive speed in the viewport. If Rubberhorse uses another way which makes the performance much better, I will definitely buy it to have a try cos I'm going to have a project needs rigging the illustration. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial :) I have a question, the Extract Controls options that is available in Duik, should work with Rubberhose controllers? When I do it I have an error
Duik is a fantastic rigging tool, but in many cases can be way more complicated than the project needs it to be. I love the simplicity of the rubberhose system.
Well first of all, this isn't a new feature. It's been part of rubberhose 2 since release. And with the RubberPin system (which I'll be making a video about) you can rig characters with the puppet tool as well. So yes, it's definitely comparable to duik! In my opinion it's much simpler to set up and use, and in many cases gives you more than enough control for character animation.
Honestly, with all of that difficulty, why not just using dedicated 2D animation software such as Moho or Toonboom instead of hacky and limited ways using After Effects?
It would be much faster if the defined joint points could be moved, not the graphic should be resized first and shrinked back. I hope they will make this change.
RubberHose is fantastic for its rigging simplicity, and can be set up very quickly. There are times when I need certain features that Duik offers, though. I recommend learning all the available character rigging tools so you know their strengths and weaknesses so you can choose the best 5ool for each project. Animating with character parts 2 and 3 are the classes I recommend for learning character animation. I will soon have a video on RUclips comparing RubberHose to both Duik and Limber, along with more rigging videos.
Hello sir jake, I have a problem in after effects because after i exported my motion graphic video the color is not matched on my original color inside of after effects it looks very far different.. i have a white background but after export the white background is become dirty white color, please make a tutorial how to fix this. Please thanks
RubberHose was released in 2017, and Limber in 2018. So no, it's not trying to be Limber :). There are many videos on youtube comparing the two tools. Each has pros and cons, but both are worth knowing how to use.

the hair expression is brilliant, thanks Jake!
Thank u for being a great human being and taking ti to help all of us noobs out cheers
Amazing tutorial! I have rubber hose but never knew about these features! Thank you for being so thorough!! 👏👏
Jack is giving away pro tips.
Jake, that is so easy! I never did character animation because of the long process, but I'm gonna try that right now!
Thank you man
Also will be waiting for a review of Skew by Goodboy Ninja!
Hey man thanks a lot. I was really overwheld and confused but now it all makes sense. Thank you.
Thanks, Jake! This is one tool in Rubber hose that I tend to overlook. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Thanks. Always learn something new even if we are using it for a long time.

Great tutorial as usual.. Please more videos about rubber hose 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
They're coming!

really helpful..thankyou Jake in Motion 😊

Great as always

Sometimes I use my rubber hose to syphon gas out of my neighbours car.

i find the lining up elements to comp center then moving them back to position is awkward and counterintuitive
yup
Thanks a lot for this tutorial :)
I have a question, the Extract Controls options that is available in Duik, should work with Rubberhose controllers? When I do it I have an error
This seems so much faster then DUIK rigging
At least here it is.
great, thanks!
but
why not just use the duik bassel for this situation?
Duik is a fantastic rigging tool, but in many cases can be way more complicated than the project needs it to be. I love the simplicity of the rubberhose system.
With the new rubber hose…. Can it now be compared to duik bassel?

@@JakeInMotion thanks mate…. Let’s see what I can do with this bad boy! 😉
Thought I was the only one "General S hettings...for the S het"

How do you do the exaggerated faces in your thumb nails?

do you prefer rubberhose ? over Duik?
and which of your skillshare classes should i take for character animation\???
RubberHose is fantastic for its rigging simplicity, and can be set up very quickly. There are times when I need certain features that Duik offers, though. Awesome! How does this compare to DUIK? Is it more responsive?
I'd have to run a test but RubberRig is extremely responsive since it's just using basic transform properties.

Set your original illustrator file to RGB color mode. It's probably defaulted to CMYK in the project settings.
Michael
This seems like its trying to be Limber. Why would this be preferred over limber?
RubberHose was released in 2017, and Limber in 2018. So no, it's not trying to be Limber :). There are many videos on youtube comparing the two tools. Each has pros and cons, but both are worth knowing how to use.
hope).
Looks like duik will be much faster and easier to make similar rig
thnx,
TBH I wish rigging, generally, wasn't so time-consuming.
Oh, so do I. It's just part of the process.
