The Ben Stiller show was one of the best sitcoms shows ever. Just great, brilliantly done parodies of the early '90s pop culture. I used to love watching this show & was sad when it got cancelled after such a short run.I bought the entire series on DVD.
one of the funniest sketches ever made in my opinion. I actually watched the Ben Stiller Show when it was first aired on Fox and it was very underated. I was pissed when they cancelled it after only twelve episodes. You can actually find used copies of the Ben Stiller Show Box set on Ebay for less than ten bucks plus a few bucks shipping and it is well worth it.
Oh, yeah, The Ben Stiller Show was awesome. Watching it back when it was still on network was like being in on a little secret. Janine Garafalo (sp?) got her start on TBSS as well. Check out the "Cops in Ancient Egypt" sketch over in the Rel. Vids section.
Your post is 3 weeks old, but just in case you never found out, this episode ran in 1992. The series itself ran from September of '92 to January of '93. There were 12 episodes shown (the 13th is on the DVDs), it had terrible ratings not helped by awful time slots, but did win an Emmy for writing.
Just heard this on the radio in the car and instantly thought of this lol, I remember this show winning and Emmy after it was canceled, good job Fox lol
Heh, I forgot that Danny Bonaduce and Dave Madden were in this. Who would have guessed that Mr. Kinkaid managed both the Partridge Family *AND* U2! Another nice detail: Remember how so many music videos of the early '90s would flash the lyrics (and other seemingly random words) on the screen? That got old real fast.
I thought I was the only one who thought about this whenever listening to ONE lol, I was like 10 when this came out and was a big u2 fan already but I remember this scarred me for life lol.
Very funny. I think it should be noted however that U2 (and Springsteen for that matter), have never taken corporate sponsorship for their tours or their music. You have never seen "Pepsi presents U2" (unlike Michael Jackson). They have never done a paid commercial for any product and never signed to a company sponsor. They were not paid for their ipod commercial, they did that to promote their own music on what was then a new music medium.
October 2014: 'U2's Bono issues apology for automatic Apple iTunes album download' "Lead issues video apology for marketing stunt at September Apple launch in which new album was given to 500 million users" Short memory you've got their mate.
Great parody! I especially like Andy Dick's Adam Clayton impersonation. What's odd is that U2 self-consciously created a parody of themselves starting from the ZOO TV tour, and were constantly spoofing their own fame and personalities. Then Ben Stiller does the same thing, and Bono actually gets mad about it! Very silly...you should never play into a satirist's hands like that. Just grin and bear it!
Stiller captured the aura of Bono brilliantly. As far as an Irish accent, Bono barely has one. Having relatives in Dublin I know that if the majority of the words spoken are understandable for an American then it's not a true Irish brogue. Sometimes the tangents Bono goes on make no sense but not the individual words. And considering how much time he's away from the Emerald Isle it's easy to understand why.
one bowl, won't be enough. one box, you know you''ll eat it right up. so delicious, essential vitimins and they're magically nutritious. one bowl, and it's runnin' low. you give me one box now its all i've got. one bowl, and we've got to share it, got to share it baby...luccckyy cloooveerrs.
I don't get where anybody comes up with Bono being upset by this. In the Ben Stiller Show's DVD commentary, Ben says Bono called him and left a message like "Watch more TV." Yeah, that sounds like Bono was enraged.
I did watch it. FOX made the fatal mistake of putting it up against 60 Minutes instead of giving it a time slot where it could succeed. It only lasted 13 episodes before it got cancelled, then it won the Emmy for Best Writing.
These Ben Stiller show U2 parodies were SO great, I love U2, but I have a buddy who is absolutely RABID about anything U2. I showed him these skits and he actually got pissed. LOL!
Doesn't Mr. Kinkaid sound exactly like Reverend Putty?! It's freaking me out that it's not the same guy! Especially since Dino Stamatopoulos was involved with both shows!
This debuted 25 years ago today. I still remember watching it, thinking it was one of the greatest things I'd ever seen.
I remember my brother cracking up like crazy and I didn't understand. Now I laugh as much as he did.
one of the most under rated shows ever. miss real comedy
This was an instant classic! Ben was ahead of his time. Whenever I hear "One", I think of "Lucky Clovers".
I still often find myself saying "One BOWL... Won't be enough." when pouring cereal all these years later. "Lucky... Cloooovers!"
this has to be my all time favorite parody ever. this one has made me laugh for 20 years.
I did not expect to see Ben Stiller spoon feeding Bob Odenkirk cereal today. I can say today's a good day.

As a huge U2 fan
"Have you had your breakfast?" Pffffffft oh I lost my shit!
"They should have been called Me-2,that's what it's all about ,him" - Mr.Kinkaid, manager for the Partridge Family - one bowl
the attention to detail is eerie lmao. so close to the one video that its spookin' me hard. dat scar.

To this day, I can't listen to U2's "One" without remembering this skit.
To this day I still say "Have you had your breakfast?"
I love Ben Stiller ❤
Lucky Charms is called Lucky Clovers in Ireland.
Facts.

Just wonderful !!!! I love this song when it's singing by Ben !!!! Just delirous !!!!
very funny! love the cameo by Mr. Kinkaid! and the Partridge Family subliminals.
Best Cover of One ever!
they're magically nutritious!
"bono is god"
"buy what you're told"
Yeah this was the early early 90's. Good stuff.

Fantastic, Andy Dick playing Adam and Bob Odenkirk (better call Saul) playing Larry. Circa 1988 I remember this so well.
1993 actually. U2 didnt start acting like this until the 90's
It was a parody of U2 song, One.
This is the longest cereal commercial I've ever seen. Do Bison eat Lucky Clovers?
Ok I’m off by 3-4 years guess I don’t remember it well lol
Who's playing The Edge?
one of best things ever to be on television. I still remember the first time I saw this.
Considering there's an Irish themed cereal and a leprechaun running around, I think Stiller is quite aware of Bono's heritage.
He looks like Daniel Day Lewis! Also Bob Odenkirk!
too bad stupid fox canceled the show. worst decision.
My favorites are still the Skank sketches. Great show all around though
The best U2 parody i've ever seen and i'm a U2 fan!
One boowwwlluh... won't be enough.
Ben looks like Daniel Day Lewis impersonating Ben Stiller doing a really bad Bono impression on purpose
Where is Stiller's Tropic Thunder follow-up already or the Les Grossman film that was rumored?
Heh, I forgot that Danny Bonaduce and Dave Madden were in this. Who would have guessed that Mr. Kinkaid managed both the Partridge Family *AND* U2!

Bob Odenkirk pre Mr. Show! Interesting. If only there were a modern day Mr. Show......
I remember a few years back Ben Stiller saying everytime they'd do a U2 parody they'd get tons of hate mail.
HILARIOUS! I never knew Stiller did this stuff!
Shoulda stuck with Kinkaid. They coulda been big.
I thought I was the only one who thought about this whenever listening to ONE lol, I was like 10 when this came out and was a big u2 fan already but I remember this scarred me for life lol.
@sporeproof That was just the MTV run. Fox picked it up and it ran again from 92 to 93
I use to love this show when I was a kid.
That was great!! Ben Stiller is so funny
he looks like daniel day louis in this
So ahead of its time.

Don't forget Janeane Garofalo! :)
Mr Kinkade is perfect
i love the episode when ben stiller acts like bono and he sangs the theme song from the tv sitcom "The Jeffersons "
Great parody! I especially like Andy Dick's Adam Clayton impersonation. Then they did popmart playing right into what they've become.
A perfect tribute so somebody who thinks they're sooo cool.
U2's gotta love it ~ Good work Mr. Stiller!
Best Cover of One ever!
1:00
this song actually sounds very good! ofcourse the lyrics are funny!
This is brilliant- and I love U2!!! :)
@Malocosa thats the most hilarious and correct description ever
Stiller captured the aura of Bono brilliantly.
As far as an Irish accent, Bono barely has one. Having relatives in Dublin I know that if the majority of the words spoken are understandable for an American then it's not a true Irish brogue. Sometimes the tangents Bono goes on make no sense but not the individual words. And considering how much time he's away from the Emerald Isle it's easy to understand why.
Happy St.Patrick's Day
Stiller should've tried an Irish accent for this sketch. I like Bob Odenkirk as Larry Mullen Jr.
He did do a "Last of the Mohicans" parody in a later episode.
Great stuff, thanks a lot. Should have called them 'me 2', excellent!
Watching again 2022
love ben stiller
better then the real one!
Absolutely incredible
one bowel
LMAO
That was a great show...
one bowl, won't be enough. one box, you know you''ll eat it right up. so delicious, essential vitimins and they're magically nutritious. one bowl, and it's runnin' low. you give me one box now its all i've got. one bowl, and we've got to share it, got to share it baby...luccckyy cloooveerrs.

@Malocosa He did play Daniel Day Lewis in a skit once involving a treadmill.
#Metoo
I dont know why everyone is saying worst irish accent ever.... i dont even think he's trying to put a accent on...
It's daniel day lewis!!!!
I guess kellogg never releasd this 1 ~
I don't remember this show. Wish I watched it then
I did watch it. FOX made the fatal mistake of putting it up against 60 Minutes instead of giving it a time slot where it could succeed. It only lasted 13 episodes before it got cancelled, then it won the Emmy for Best Writing.
hahha yeah i saw that right after i posted that comment, ben stiller is great
i wish that ben stiller would do a spoof on joe satriani. he looks very much like him :)
holy crap this is a really good impression but i am seriously offended that they think u2 is all about the money
Offence is taken, not given. If you are offended, that is your problem, not Ben's.
Its All about the ego.
Considering Adam Sandler had only been on SNL for about a year when that aired, I think that would be highly doubtful.
Subliminal Messages?!? LOL.
Guitar solos showered in lucky clovers! LOL.
And That's one creepy leprechaun!
he actually looks Daniel Day Lewis!!
haha "partridge family rules"
These Ben Stiller show U2 parodies were SO great, I love U2, but I have a buddy who is absolutely RABID about anything U2. I showed him these skits and he actually got pissed. LOL!
Funny stuff...really funny :)
No, that would be Tom Cruise's accent in Far and Away!
He weighs at least 78 keurics
he should do chris angles
HAHA "me too, not U2"
Indeed. I don't think I've ever really heard an American do an Irish accent without it sounding completely off or just stereotypical.
classic! so funny
he kind of looks and sounds like Bob Geldof
he looks like daniel day lewis more than bono haha
@SimplyMeHooray yessss!!!!! great site! lil surprised to see him on it but eh whatever, theyre right about his bono
Hi zizzou3 how r you...I see you liked it!!
HAHAHAHA Amazing video!!!:D
sorry for the stuttering
