Ok so if I moved 40 miles away to hunt can I just take the unit off and calibrate it / don’t have to re- put the laser on paper / can I just take the range finder off do the flippy calibration steps then throw it back on the rail in the same spot and it should be good to go again ? Or does it usually get off alignment again for the paper test ?

That's what I am trying to figure out?

Heres a tip, go and do it. See if it does go off. You have the visable laser to judge if it shifted or not

The calibration is only for the compass. If you only moved 40 miles, in my experience you don't need to calibrate the compass. For me, as long as I'm in the same state I don't worry about recalibration. Texas would be an exception to that rule if I calibrated in Houston and then traveled to El Paso I would calibrate the compass.

Then you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That's what rangings all about 😂

Impossible to calibrate the compass with figure number 1 in the shape of an 8. Message: Fail try again. What to do? Thanks for a response.

Do it in a bigger motion than what he does here. I had to have my arm fully extended to do it.

I have all I need in this video but it was being useful to have more demo than talk but good video

I calibrated compass on various devices before including DJI drones, Sig Kilo 10,00 and ATN Thor, so it is not my first time trying to calibrate a compass. I have watched this video and couple more and fallowed all the steps. for the calibration part, I can not go beyond step 3 and step 4 keeps failing. I have tried for few hours today and don't know what to do.

Does it play nice with an AB kestrel

So if i have 44moa mount and my point blank zero distance is 500yards. Will I still just aim at the centre of the target and bring the laser to my reflective tape? Was told that I have to be able to achieve a standard 100yard zero to actually sight this tool in.

Seems like a lot of bs just to calibrate it for an item costing 3k.

What is the distance between the zero impact point and the laser point? The line of sight is horizontal and the laser is horizontal, which means that the laser and the line of sight are parallel to the target and therefore maintain their distance. If the game is big, there's enough surface area for the 5 cm gap to be respected with an optimum low square error. If the game is big, there's enough surface area for the 5 cm to be on the target, but if the game is small, particularly for the PCP community who want to use it, small game at very great distances, the surface area is very, very small, so the square error will be great, so the gap must be reduced and, if possible, the zero impact point and the laser must converge.
What does Vortex have to say about this, because this gap is probably for targets of a certain size?
I need explaining about gap between laser point and rifle scope point why not choose to converge to lines: sight line through scope to zero point on target and laser point on target
That's why outdoor demo is best than store demo or unboxing demo.
9/10 guys choose indoor demo and this hurt me
Vortex also needs to specify impact resistance, as recoil can affect electronics and accuracy in the long term.

The laser just tells you how far away the target is from you . Its like using a handheld rangefinder without wind and weather sensors.
