I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love your project management style! You've taken me from a "a project's not worth doing if you can't finish it" mindset to an "a little bit at a time" mindset. As a result, this season I've accomplished more in my garden and home than the past two years combined! I also love that you're about 3-4 weeks ahead of my zone - with every video I know what's coming next. Thanks for all of your content Laura!

Yes her being up north of me and basically having a heads up for what I should be doing this week or next week. It's perfect timing. Long enough ahead that I can plan but not so long that I forget what to get done. :)

Hey Laura, I have a good amount of sedum around my garden. I learned just this year to cut them back when they first start to emerge and they double or triple the number of stems which naturally keeps them from flopping over. My plants looked sad when I first cut them back but oh my, the number of blooms I had this year is amazing AND they did not do that split thing or flop over!.

A quick note about you planting around the air conditioning condensors in the back you said you didn't get to.
I'm planting hakonechloa around it because I was all set to plant gorgeous autumn ferns in a circle but they get to tall and wide as you have to leave PLENTY OF SPACE for ventilation around them for the condensor to work properly.
This would make a great project topic! So many people try to solve this little unsightly area in their garden where circuit breaker boxes, electric meters and these condensers reside. I painted the condensers and stenciled soft green ferns on them, put black ceramic mosiac on the cement platform and now the area doesn't detract from my garden!
    Love to all! 🙏🤗

One of the many reasons I watch this channel is seeing the tools used. I’ve watched Laura do fall cleanup a number of times and the use of hedge trimmers. I bought my first felcos last year, which were a great investment. So today, I went out and bought the dewalt hedge trimmer . Another “game changer “!! Buzzed through hostas this afternoon - blew them into the grass with my dewalt blower and picked up with my John Deere riding lawnmower with the leaves! Much easier process. Thanks garden answer!

I can see you enjoy sharing your garden with us. Just love how you get sidetracked with a beautiful plant and you share with us. Thanks for the view of the Hartley and one of the kitties at the end of the video. Those two things along with your helper Benjamin are starting to be classic Garden Answer. Thanks for making my morning coffee so enjoyable. Can't believe the progress you have made in the South garden.

Hi. I have been maintaining my landscape for well over 10 years now. I use to cut back almost everything in the Fall! I thought it was the proper protocol. I learned "winter interest" from you. My landscape does not need to look empty and boring to equal well maintained. What a relief!
I also learned the cardboard method for weed control. It was very time consuming. However, it was worth the time it saved me.
OhMy! What a huge time saver! It works through the entire growing season here in Michigan! Thx for all that
    you share.😇🙏

Oh my heck, cleaned my lilies this morning and the bottom leaves were covered with aphids. Since it is dark here, just added diatomaceous earth to my list for tomorrow. THANK YOU so much for the timely tip ♥ And my zinnias got powdery mildew this year but the gazanias planted next to them look awesome. First time for gazanias (Zone 7b) and they are still flowering through frost and snow so saving seeds and will add new ones next spring. Thank you two again for helping this newly retired, 75 year old great grandma with her yard and garden. The zones have really helped me keep up. Hugs and kisses and rainbow wishes to your family ♥

I was excited to see that this video was about fall clean up of flower beds, as I planted new perennials (and annuals) this year because of you! Now I need to know what to do with them! Lol! Hopefully you’ll address lavender, huecheras and other perennials soon. Thanks so much for another wonderful helpful video!

Sidetracked to planters 😂. In the middle of the clean out, let’s just pause to beautify a planter or 3 or 4. It is amazing to me how much you get done and how easy you make it look. 💚💚👏

I just started my Fall clean up plus I planted bulbs yesterday! I love when you pan over to show the Hartley!! I also leave things for the wildlife but I will be covering a few things on account of rabbits! Last winter they used my plants as a salad bar because we had a rather harsh winter so I am taking precautions for this winter!! Those containers are pretty planted up for Fall & Winter! I love how your gardens, yard & walkways have transformed this year!!😍😖🐇🧹🥀🍁🍂

Yep, it's definitely a compost pile. And they even have the equipment to turn something that big a few times. They would have so much. I can't even wrap my mind around letting all that stuff go to a dump or something. Maybe they have a commercial composting operation that comes to get it.

    Good morning fro Northport, NY!
Laura, having had many tours in my garden where I grow over 650 varieties of daylilies and hundreds of Lilium, I try to always use the word “daylily” versus “lily “ since I find many people are confused about these two genera. I think that a comparison of these two plants would be a good topic for a future video.

    • @dianeweeks352
      @dianeweeks352 3 года назад

Right. I never call the daylilys what they are not. Lily’s are from hardy bulbs.

I'm with you guys on the difference between Daylilies and Lilies. It's a little thing but they're 2 very different plants that aren't even in the same family.
