Welcome Russell ! You are going to love your new home and especially your loving parents :) I have two cats and both were rescued. I used can of air ( compress) to " train" my kitties. It didn't take long and when they saw the can in my hand they would know not to do something. I never sprayed it directly on them - Today if they are jumping or doing something I just mouth the sound "pst" and they remember the air and stop misbehaving :) Enjoyed the video today.

February 2022 - rewatching this and the change in the past four years is amazing!
Huge tip: Saves time. Blow the leaves out of the flower beds then mow up the leaves. The lawn mower sheds the leaves. Next, pile it up. In spring you have compost. Garden gold.

they put leaves in bags, and throw them in the trash bin. 9:05

I saw them just mowing the leaves on the lawn. And raking the flower beds separately. What works fast is to blow the leaves, from the beds, onto the lawn first. Then mow the leaves into the mower bag. This eliminates raking the beds.
So happy for Russell that you found him...and will fill your heart like Dexter did. He needs to stay in side at night.

That was my Sunday, too...yard work! I realize I like fall clean up much better than spring clean up!
Russell is super cute. My 16 year old cat loves to snuggle and sleeps in my arm (and across my chest) or sleeps on my pillow at night. Enjoy Russell..I hope he has a presence in your videos like Dexter.

Thank you for adopting Russell. He is adorable. Argh! All those leaves! My ex used to use our Honda lawn mower with a bag. It mulched the leaves into tiny bits. He loved it because he was very serious about the lawn.
ohhh we lost our 17y.o. cat Pika(orange tabby) on Christmas morning. We were so sad for months and months and finally adopted a 4 month old, all black kitty named Captain Jack. Well, honestly he adopted us, he made it very clear that he was going home with us from the shelter. He is exactly what God knew we needed.... a sweet little snuggle bug with an amazing personality. He is so playful and makes our 11 year old dog smile(Lucy really missed the cat and was very sad)! Hooray for new kitties!
I know this is old but the animals love you so much and your family because you all have such a calm and warm spirit. I end every day watching your videos. I’ve learned a lot from you and you bring peace to the end of every day.

Awww what an adorably mischievous little kitten.
Those leaves are better for your plants than you might think, even outside of a western compost system. I know they're not the prettiest but they're super healthy for the soil if you leave them there over winter. I would love to see you try some Permaculture Forest style gardening, possibly check it out

Such a cute kitty, he's lucky to have you two... as for all the leaves, they are nature's gold. Great in flower beds, and worm bedding & composting. Run them over with the mower and collect them. I hope you know at the bottom of the potato vines are potatoes. I missed mine last year, got 3 huge sweet potatoes out of one of my pots this year.
The best cat I ever knew was my Tom who was polydactyl as well. A key thing is to keep the front paws toe nails trimmed because the two toes are so close together, when the claws get long they can dig into the toes. My Tom was feral for a while until I tamed him and his nails were painfully dug into his toes. I got that resolved once he was tamed.

Once again, catching up on older videos I missed. Russell was so adorable as a baby! I don't find this kind of video boring at all. I love the "real life" feeling you bring. Gardening is hard work and not always glamorous but the work brings forth such beautiful results. It's nice to see the beauty but I enjoy seeing all the work it entails.
I actually really really enjoy your "clean-up" videos. It helps so much to learn what it takes to maintain different areas of the garden, especially when you did not grow up doing so. Thank you!

i'm a laid back person, but wanted to remind you that not lifting heavy things is for real. And by the time you regret having done it, it's too late. Your stomach is already working overtime so let those projects go for now.
What I really wanted to say is that I wish you would do a tour on garden tools, how you store them, and maintain them? I have questions like do I sharpen my punters and loppers every time, or when? Do you ever sharpen the saw?
Also, what about other storage for dirt, mulch, pots, etc? These are the kind of questions I'd like you to go over on a storage/shed/garage tour. Thanks!
