    These are the classic "my stuff is worth more than your stuff" area that you run into a lot when buying used. Even when you show them what their stuff is REALLY worth and that you are welling to pay a fair price, they think you are trying to rip them off.
    I go through the same thing with my wife and friends who ask me about listing stuff. When I have a used PC , car or firearm for sale, I don't expect to MAKE money on the deal. I expect to get a fair offer for whatever it's worth or even a slightly better deal to the buyer if I want it gone quick.

    Nothing wrong with a B650 mobo for any compatible CPU. The X670s only really offer better overclocking options and waaay more PCI-e lanes than virtually anyone could realistically use. So if you aren't going to overclock, there's no reason to splash the extra cash for an X670.

    • @ShelbySann
      @ShelbySann 25 дней назад +2

      I was going to ask, rocking a B650 with a 7800x3D, I don't overclock and it's a mATX motherboard anyways, so I don't need the PCIe lanes. I thought I had made a terrible mistake the way he said it.

      @Lurch-Bot 25 дней назад +3

      You can overclock just fine on a decent B series MB. I'd only buy an X series board if I were going to do some extreme overclocking with liquid nitrogen. Since it isn't worthwhile to OC an X3D chip, there'd be nothing wrong with putting one on an A series MB if you are willing to make the feature compromises. It will still perform the same.
      Sure, you can talk about better power conditioning on a higher end board but all that is irrelevant if you just run your PC on a UPS. Would rather pay $130 for a UPS than buy a $500 MB. Gonna have cleaner power delivery on an A series board with a UPS than on an X series board without a UPS.
      Hype is not a useful replacement for actual knowledge and experience.

    The first guy has a strategy to sell $1100 worth of parts for $2250 to some casual mark
    The 7800x3d is widely known as the best. People don't know the part itself is $400, they know expensive PCs cost $3000.
    64GB, well that's double all the other ones on here, wow. Actual legit RAM is only $150 for this amount, no claims of 6400CL32 made.
    2TB same thing with the big numbers.
    Samsung Pro? Isn't that the best? Another hook. They sell fake Samsung Pros on AliXP, derbauer among others made a video showing one.
    Then for the GPU, he got the cheapest used GPU from ebay that was a full size, has the nvidia Geforce name, 1000 series or better because 900 or less is a bad look to even a casual.
    Put that together with a decent looking case and mobo, a PSU that can make it at least a week before exploding, and now you have the bait.
    The 4500 starting price is to make the 3000 price look better. 3000 is the starting position in negotiations, but it might look like he's already conceded a ton of obscene profit when he hasn't.
    He has like $800 wiggle room to strike a deal with someone and still walk away $1000 richer, while anyone ignorant enough to pay $2250 for that might also think they got it for half price. At least until they fire up Black Myth Wukong or something.

    This is the problem with so many things, not just PCs. False market values. They see people saying shit like "ultra rare" and other superlatives, with stupidly high mark ups, and think they can do the same.
    As an example, about a year ago I was looking to buy a CD by a band I like, when I looked at the usual marketplaces like eBay and Discogs and I was getting the old "ultra rare" bs, with prices around $100. I went to the bands website and the CD was back in stock for $15.
    Sadly there are people who fall for this stuff.
    Thankfully with PCs, people who know about PCs are not going to buy at these prices, and those that don't know probably do not want to be paying several thousand dollars for a rig. That's why one of those listings has been live for 25 weeks.

  • @izanami705
    @izanami705 25 дней назад

    We gotta remember, the comparable "new" list isn't supposed to have the exact same parts. It should have the modern equivalent. The pcp list for second build has a $500 3070ti in it and a $900 3080ti in it. That makes no sense and makes the price so much worse

    • @GregSalazar
      @GregSalazar  25 дней назад +1

      Yeah, it goes both ways. If I chose modern equivalents (i.e., a 4070 Ti instead of a 3070 Ti), it makes the used build look even worse in this context. I often choose exact matches because it gives us a snapshot in time of what _they_ may have paid for their rigs brand-new. Not always 1-to-1, but with gaps in time and price fluctuations it's sorta impossible to be perfectly accurate all the time :-)

      Even with current models/products, the used market is difficult to gauge. For example, the 7800X3D's still large demand has pushed its market value above MSRP. In fact, as you can see in Greg's screenshots, at some point, 'businesses' (i.e., do we refer to scalpers or scalper-like as a business?) have priced the 7800X3D near $600 (MSRP is/was $449). "[...] it gives us a snapshot in time of what they may have paid for their rigs brand-new. Not always 1-to-1, but with gaps in time and price fluctuations it's sorta impossible [...]" In other words, even though the 7800X3D is still the current (i.e., 1:1 comparison) product at this time, buyers wouldn't be paying the "new" price, though not the in the positive way you'd expect with a used (item) purchase.

    I sell all of my PCs as PC ONLY, because once you add a monitor and other peripherals then its for 1, gonna raise the price which lowers the amount of potential buyers, and for 2, ppl have their own tastes/wants/expectations for their peripherals and you might be raising the price for parts they have no interest in

    Upgraded my PC, sold the old PC. Asked for fair market value of all parts in used condition. Loaded marketplace listing with full details on every part and tons of photos including all original packaging for clear details as to what the buyer would receive. I got decent value for the older PC to put towards my upgrade, not more than what I paid for everything brand new. See? It's not that hard.

      but just buy a ryzen 5 or 7 non x3d. Unless you need to run a 480hz monitor or something, you dont need the best CPU, just invest more in GPU. I ran 5600x with a 3090 for a whille and it was great at 4k or 1440, just dont try 1080p low

    Greg, I like this edition of your content but I wish you would go into more detail about WHY some of those components are badly matched. Beyond the cost of new versus old or X vs y components. Such as, an i7 core with a 1070(which is what my Alienware Laptop from 2018 has) the GPU is under matched and the i7 will create a gaming bottle neck reducing the value of such a build.

    To be fair so long as that video card is in a x16 slot there is no way he's going to lose any performance with a 1070.
    I've run my 3080 and now 4080 super in the bottom slot due to the fact that the top slot is the only one that supports bifurcation and I need to use that bifurcation to load it up with four NVMe SSDs.
    I did a before and after benchmark on four games and didn't see any difference. It's a lot nicer to use the top slot because it's usually reinforced but it's not necessary in most instances.
