A very important topic, I my uncle was a joiner and carpenter. You guessed he suffers now. I had a polite conversation with the a builder on a site I was working on last week. Explaining my concerns, I got him when I said. They have £1000 phones but no dust extraction ! Needless to say, they are buying dust extraction now. I'm old, but for these youngsters it's so important. Well done for taking your health seriously and putting it out there.
Yep. I have to admit ive been at it for a couple of years in the past with less than ideal dusty conditions so hopefully this kind of upgrade is in good time. I definitely notice myself sneezing for a few days after spending a couple of days without being so careful. That’s what triggered the upgrade in attitude!
Hi, I have a similar set up. I feel like the 2 motor version lacks a little bit of power for the longer pipes. Have to adjust it and seal up the table saw like you. I think you will use your smaller dust extractor for the top of your table saw dust extraction. I split up the pipe I use from the 2 motor version I think it is the reason for the lack of power.
I mostly subscribe to UK English, however I am a computer engineer and as such I think rooting is what was horrifically demonstrated in Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange and what you did was routing :-D keep the ridiculous moustache :-)
Great job, you got your self a good deal with the dust extraction and the pipes, those pipe look like waste pipe from a builders merchant and not to dear it you need more. Like you said you can't put a price on air quality a good air filtration and dust extraction and as well wall mounted fans to get good air in and bad air out also look after your lungs, Great video have a good Easter weekend
Haha. No, my mind is deeper in the gutter than that. Are you familiar with the 1972 debut of one Linda Lovelace? She was also famous for producing a negative pressure differential 😜
Looking for your input ... I see you have Linda (spelling???) completely encased with no ventilation. I take it that this is okay to do because both the inlet and outlet are outside the enclosure and the motors are cooled with just the air passing through. No further ventilation is needed then. Do I have this correct?
Good question. The door and holes for the exhaust tubes have a few gaps. That said it does get a little warm in there when it’s on for extended periods and I’ve recently been thinking about adding a passive vent to the side to help the warm air escape more quickly.
I’m curious, why don’t you run the room air cleaner while you’re working? Is it too loud? It seems to be it would be best to get the dust out of the air as early as possible.
So I do occasionally do that but it is so localized to that end of the workshop that it doesn’t really do anything at the other end. Hence why a portable unit would be good. It will refresh the air over time though so I blow all the settled dust up to that end then leave the workshop for a while with both that and the wall mounted extraction fan on and that makes a difference!
@@CaptainofmyShed I have a home made unit, and it cleans the air throughout the shop, so I run it while I work. It may be due to the placement or shape of the shop that makes the difference for me. So many variables!
@@Cooper_42yeah it does work but slowly. If I’m sanding, it’s not like the air is immediately cleaned and I’m still breathing in dust. Unless you’re in a vacuum chamber this will be the case so I stick to the dust mask and although it’s pretty quiet I avoid running it for a long time while I’m working. Do you have a video of the type you made. Would be keen to see it.
Yeah, i think the cyclone alone is 100 quid new. Came with 5 blast gates and all that waste pipe too. I feel like im just about getting on top of dust but there’s still a ways to go.

Yeah my plan is to use the small extractor for the crown guard. I think my saw could be sealed up better but it does work pretty well.

One of my favorite books in school. Maybe I’ll start my episodes saying welcome my droogies!

Thanks Shaun. Have a good weekend yourself!
The Linda reference, was it Hue & Cry - Looking out for Linda, by any chance ?

@@CaptainofmyShed I wasn't going to mention that, i thought this was a family show ... 🤣

And yes, person PPE/mask and dust extraction at the source are key.
100 pound for that set with piping, thats a realy good deal!
