Some will say I am being biased in my coverage of the K2. Well, that's what it looks like when a company makes bold claims, and backs them up with real world performance. Creality lets me say whatever the hell I want, and I have absolutely panned them in my reviews in the past, but they still keep working with me. I have massive respect for them, and the confidence they have in their products, and they have won a well deserved victory with this K2 Plus. They have done the hard work of designing a great product. So I won't participate in forced negativity to coddle the feelings of Bmbu Lab fanboys.
@@NathanBuildsRobots i agree. I’ve seen you bash different manufacturers for different things including creality. But this did feel somewhat forced but I think it’s because of your impression’s of the product rather than you pushing a product for them. Thank you for the review!! Start stabbing boxes🤣
Designed a great product? You mean copied an existing great product. Lets be real, it even copies the "poop" and multicolor system, build design, wiper system, etc. There is nothing new here aside from bedsize. When creality "designs" a great product, that will be the day. So far, all I've seen is copycat products from other innovators like Prusa and Bambu Labs
@@JohnSmith-rt5yq understand that copying as you refer to it is part of innovation. Tell that to Apple, Samsung and Google about “ copying” . It’s part of the business model. 👍🏾 And if you don’t like don’t look🤷🏾♂️. Not betting ignorant with that statement but it is what it is!
Nathan, I would say that depends on the view from which point you see it. My first Creality printer was the K1 Max, and I waited a solid 7 months from launch and til I ordered it. So far I’ve had clogging of the extruder, hotend, 1 time extruder motor failure, extruder motor insanely hot, first layer problems, AI-camera not doing anything, and VFA’s like I haven’t seen before. Parts have been a nightmare to source, because of low stock at Creality. Changing nozzle is such an effort. This was supposed to be a printer that just ran, and I know from your previous videos that you have been cautious yourself because of the K1 launch. Considering all this; Why should I believe and trust in Creality again, and why should I consider a K2 knowing the history with the K1? On a side note: Thank you for all your videos😊
@JohnSmith-rt5yq Bambu copied a designed printer, creality just did their form factor. There would be no Bambu without people like crealityand dare I say, bambu?
That AMS is about the most interesting thing. A 100% klipper compatible AMS could be a very nice product in its own right if they decided to sell it seperate.
I doubt that Creality sells the CFS separately. But Big Tree Tech has posted a picture of what looks like an AMS. It could be a Klipper compatible multi-material unit.
I got a couple 3-dChameleons earlier this year. None of the add-ons that drew my eye have been released yet. 3MS has a conversion to run the 3-dChameleon on Klipper. I'm unsure if they have a BOM for building an AMS/MMU but it would be worth a gander.
@@NathanBuildsRobots he got fired; it was mostly because at that level of fame, you get a LOT of haters. The network was critical of clarksons comments on top gear since like 2008. They just had it out for him tbh. Top Gear is a relic of the past now. Really the post clarkson age in general has left the automotive networks in shashashashashambles
Yeah they got rid I’d the original crew, which really killed off the show. Now the best media the UK can muster is some faceless dude playing with TPU and 3D printers.
I'm one of those salty Bambu fanboys who almost can't believe what I'm seeing. But I'll believe it anyway, because I actually WANT Creality to succeed. The K1 was a rushed incomplete "almost almost there" imho, and the K1 MAX build upon too many of the faulty principles of the K1, correcting only a select few of them. The K1C on the other hand, was definitely a step in the right direction, and to be honest, I wouldn't be too annoyed by having to change my P1S into the K1C. So it stands to reason that K2 Plus would be an even bigger step than K1C. However - I'm still curious to see how the different parts are serviced and the quality of the guides to do so. The biggest lack of any Bambu Lab machine is the closed nature, which prevents us from making basic upgrades. Fx. the P1S crappy 720p camera with that unbelievably horrible frame rate. No biggie, new 1080p30 camera module would cost south of $50 right? No. Because allegedly the P1S board can't handle a better camera. I say allegedly, because we really have no way of knowing - but let's just say for the sake of argument, that this is actually true. Well, no biggie - we'll just change the board to something with a more powerful processor, right? No. At least, not easily. Buuuut what about just buying the board for the X1C and jamming that in there? Nope, despite the many similarities between the X1C and the P1S, this is sadly not possible. Which MUST be by intent, because being a programmer myself, I reckon it'd take in the vincinity of a work week or less to enable this board swap. In fact, developing the cheaper P1S board can hardly have been worth the cost compared to just using the X1C board. The X1C board retails for around €74, so the cost would a be minor addition for the P1S - maybe €20. Regarding that print failure at the end; yeah that's 100% on you. Blocking the poop chute is entirely your fault. If the poop block had happened without that zip tie, yeah that'd be on Creality - but I see no reason to put that zip tie there other than asking for failure, and you should have known better with your experience and expertise.
After I ended up spending more time fixing my ender 5s1 than printing with it....I'm gonna see how these do for 6 months or so. I want a tool, not something I need to continually tinker with to get to work (again). Looks promising!
@@stew675This is light years ahead of the 5 S1. Waiting 6 months is a fair waiting period. but honestly i think this printer is very promising even with bugs.
@@mlawaljr1 Well, at the time, the reviews all said "buy this if you want something that JUST WORKS", but I fully admit there have been huge steps since then. It just burned me as it turned into a point of frustration instead of a tool to help me. Hopefully it was a fluke and this thing totally kills it, I'm actually currently Re-diagnosing my ender 5 s1, hopefully it's just a ribbon cable and I can get it working again!
@@mlawaljr1Hopefully the VFA issue is fixed from the K1's. As a print farm owner, I took quite a hit by having to replace almost 40% of my K1's because they developed major VFA's and I won't sell subpar prints to customers. Compare that to Bambu, and I've only had that issue on 2 machines. Btw, Creality support said those VFA's were normal lol.
Commenting for the engagement. We need more people gaslighting Bambu to think that there are printers better than theirs out there so that they go even more above and beyond in their next printers
As someone who runs a few k1's I'm stoked to see how much they improved their stuff. also, CREALITY was plugging you on their LIVE stream earlier tonight. 👍👍👍
I really enjoy seeing healthy competition among manufacturers,it always leads to better products for consumers. It's clear that multicolor printing has caught their attention in 2024. however, even the K2 Plus without CFS is quite expensive, so I need to consider whether it’s worth the cost and if it’s a reliable option. For now, I’m on the fence. In terms of speed, I went with the T1Pro, and it’s given me an incredible high-speed printing experience. the only downside is the lack of multicolor printing, but I’m still very interested in that feature, so I might look into other brands for it.
I've used several Creality machines, such as the CR-10 and Ender-5, and they indeed helped me complete quite a few projects. Last year, a friend recommended FLSUN to me, and its speed is almost twice as fast as reality gy, which really excited me.
I really don't think of myself as a Creality fan boy, but since my first printer, a Ender 3 pro now a franken Ender 3 pro with a Sonic Pad, I have enjoyed my experiences with Creality--at printer prices I can afford.
What I've learned from Creality: never buy the first batchs! Modding Enders was fun but also necessary. However, the need for mods doesn’t determine if a product is good or not. If a printer works well out of the box, there's no need to mod.
I can completely understand being high on a printer after it seems to fix a lot of the issues you have had with printers. But the main test will be repeated use over a very long period. A lot of these miraculous all in one enclosed printers start to have problems after repeated use more than 3 or 4 months in. It's something a lot of reviewers don't pick up on because they use a printer for a week and then move on to the next printer.
Most of us have dozens of reels of filament we're not going to use. I hope Nathan keeps up the 24/7 testing to determine long term reliability and feeds any wear/maintenance issues back to Creality. I was thinking of getting a Sovol SV08 and enclosing it, but the K2 Plus just bumped it off my buy list. I'm not in a huge hurry. I'll be developing new products this winter and will buy a K2 Plus after Creality's rolling upgrades.
Why do you think he's being biased? If the machine is as good as he says it's an accurate review. But until we get these machines ourselves we only have his track record to go off, which is excellent and historically critical of creality. No reason to assume he's biased just because he's optimistic about this printer.
I'd agree if not for Nathan being critical of Creality on numerous occasions in the past. He seems genuinely impressed with the K2 Plus and his enthusiasm seems warranted. I want honest reviews that are negative about bad 3D printers but I also want honest reviews that are positive about good printers. Hundreds of hours of complex prints, and the only way to force a print failure is to block the poop chute? I'm impressed.
@@CullenJWebb no yeah you're right, I just mean the way he's been presenting stuff lately, with a very clear antipathy towards bambu lab. Not that I think bambu lab is amazing, just that he doesn't present things unbiased. In the same vein, nathan seems more kind to creality than other brands imo. However it is his channel so he can say what he wants I suppose. It's just that the things he says have less value to me now. I really enjoyed the video's where he'd tear into printers, look at the mechanics and design, and explain what he thought the reasoning for certain choices were. I hope some more of those will make their return, along with some printer modding perhapse even. The polar quad extruder printer is also pretty sweet imo
Ive had one for a little over two weeks now, and so far its not going as well for me. Foot broke off flush with base, the fan that runs in the printer head was messed up and they are sending me a new one and I am getting error CA2710 which their online support says you need to replace the belt tension module. I am hoping that the belt tension module is the reason my printers are really bad, but I havent messed with the printer too much. A little out of disappointment and a little because I spent this amount of money in the hopes I wouldnt have to mess with it (too much). Current printer is a X plus 3 and it actually surprised me with its performance, so just using it.. I do believe this printer will be great, once theses issues (I am facing) are resolved. That all being said Creality support has been very helpful and responsive, sometimes messaging me back minutes after I message them. Personally wish Creality would drop trying to create their own printing software and just utalize the opensource community made (like they did with the rest of their software / firmware for this machine) ones. You just know they are never going to make it better than (or even as good as) whats already out there so just focus your resources on the hardware and integration. Random tangent but I prefer Orca, and not a fan of having to use a bugged and watered down version of it instead (for CFS and cam functionality). Dont regret the purchase, just a little perturbed?
@@NathanBuildsRobots Damn, you quick on the reply. I will be curious to see Aurora Techs full video as she's another reviewer whos opinion I respec. Her short video said shes impressed with it as well, which is great to hear. The people having issues are predominantly the ones who come online and voice their experience, hopefully seeking help, but it can inadvertently make a product look pretty bad.. Even if 99% of the customers are happy with their machine. Guess we will see what Elf Nathan thinks after that 1000 plus hour mark.
I can't wait to pull the trigger on this unit and it's honestly thanks to you. I love your attention to detail and unbiased opinions across the board. I'd love to see aurora do a review but your vids are what making choose it
I thought the same thing. I haven't done the math, but unless you're printing expensive exotic material, I doubt the poop cost would ever cover the difference in cost. Nathan did mention the advantage of being able to use TPU that doesn't feed in the AMS or CFS multi-filament systems. I want to make products with ABS and TPU, but ABS needs an enclosure. I could maybe make PETG and TPU parts. Bambu just announced AMS compatible (higher durometer?) TPU that should also work in the CFS, which would negate the Prusa advantage.
I thought I mentioned the price difference. I think in most cases the total cost of ownership will be lower for the K2 Plus, but if you are printing expensive or exotic filaments that are $400/kg, just the poop from one filament change could cost $2. Especially when changing between filaments with different melting points, it has to flush a ton of extra filament to be reliable. Add that up over an entire print, or an entire month, and you could easily be looking at thousands in wasted filament. But the best and most popular way to use 3D Printer IMO is to do single color printing, which the K2 Plus will excel at.
@@NathanBuildsRobots Yeah, for the 99.9% of us who rarely print with exotic materials, it would take a very long time to make up $3000 in poop. I guess for those operating a print farm, it would be less time. Still loving my K1C! I will consider the CFS for it when they have the adapter kit and SW details nailed down and the CFS is widely available. Loved this review.
@@daveduncan2748 Honestly i feel like the cost-recouperation wouldn't come in the form of poop waste but time. Prusa's tool change is dramatically faster than purging filament. So if you are running a print farm for a multi-material print, being able to do double or triple the output is where the real savings is.
@@mochmaster45 Good point, but is the XL really faster overall? Earlier this year, Tom's Hardware said this about the XL, "Prusa has no information anywhere on this printer’s top speed or acceleration rate. The slicer only shows a top speed of 200mm/s for infill, and a max acceleration of 5000mm/s²."
Thanks for making this video. I am seriously considering getting one. I can't wait for your next video on the K2. I honestly consider you a reliable source because you actually say the bad/unpopular things.
I have a K1 SE and have zero issues after 100 hours of prints and if you say 'yes' on k2+... then I will buy one! It has the checkboxes for me: build size, multi-color, speed, enclosed.
No. Just print, any printer prints. Does it print WELL? That's the real question. We had enough problems with the K1. Creality included many of the K1 mods into the K2, but will it be enough to be good and not need a bunch of mods to print well?
I only just swapped my original v1 ender 3 that was heavily modded for a sovol SV08 and now I picked up a K2 with a 20% discount on the official creality ebay store. Even if I never mod the K2 the ability to do so also means it will be highly repairable 10 years down the road but almost certainly update the printer with new tech as time goes on. Once I get my K2 i will be modding my SV08 to be a multi head printer and hopefully one of the heads will be used to print PEEK and Ultim.
I feel like “creality fanboy” is the slur that Bambu users use when me they see creality drop something that actually good. I’ll admit the Enders sucked but these new generation of printers especially the ender 3 v3 are fantastic and a huge step forward.
Dont know if hating on a certain brand for no reason is a good way to review a printer. You compared the newest of new printer of creality to bambu's printer that was old and are implying that its outdated. I dont understand why its so hard to just review a printer without having to stirr up contraversy with other brand printers.
@@NathanBuildsRobots you need to go to the formnext dude. harrass the bambu people there and get kicked out by the German Polizei. Now I'll watch that, hell infact I 'll be at formnext this year so I'll watch in person :)
I agree. They just made another fade clone of bambulab… When they pay you or give you free stuff, in most cases people say how great it is, because no one wants to hear shitty reviews about shiny new products.
@@NathanBuildsRobotsit looks awesome. Other than people who have received their units with broken feet. I wish I could afford one. I bought a K1 max in May. Would like the CFS for that
Now... I can't wait to see what the K1 CFS Upgrade kit will cost. I've had to upgrade my K1 a lot to get it working nicely. Did the Linear Rail mod, the LDO Stepper with 20T Pulleys. Also got the first gen K1, with all the Extruder and hotend issues. But now, it's working nicely and I'm planning to do Linear rails for Y axis too.
I have multiples of Bambu and Creality. Bambu has better software, better support, and treats their customers better. I will buy a large format Bambu when it comes out. I'll probably wind up getting one of these too if they get their logistics figured out and it doesn't self destruct by the end of the year. Creality has a huge customer relations problem to overcome. I wish it was cheaper, but it's not unreasonable.
Agreed. The K1's were hit and miss. Almost 40% of mine had to be replaced (with more Bambu units) because they developed major VFA's...which Creality support said was completely normal and within spec.
Agreed. Based on my experience, I fully believe this printer will be the turning point for creality. They didn't take any shortcuts or cheap out on things to make it less expensive to manufacture. They actually put time and money into making this machine great, and I hope it will perform as well for their early adopters as this machine has for me.
The definitive source to why I’d sure love to get both the Creality K2 plus and a Prusa XL! (Why not both! 😃) while I’m at it I’d even enjoy having one of those fancy white bottle-openers..
I would imagine so, and if it isn't supported now, it should be soon. I haven't had enough time to test all the different software configurations people might want to use.
I only just found out about this. I've owned nearly every Creality printer and all have had thousands of hours of print time. Purchased the K1 Max and I dislike it. I do happen to own an X1C from Bambu and it is splendid, but this K2 does look promising, however, I've felt that way with nearly every new release of theirs haha. I guess we shall wait and see how this thing shakes when it hits the consumer market. I wonder if Bambu will release a machine to compete with this. Super exciting for sure!
I want this machine to be good, mostly because I want the big build size, but when I see the quality of the print from your video and the inconsistent layer lines etc, I think I need to wait a bit longer. I know they've improved some of the software to better control the fans, so I'm really hopeful, but I think I'll wait and see some more results before buying one.
Great Video and I agree about Creality "Openness".... I'm Biased I got my first one as a Gift 5 years ago now I'm going to buy one of these . Great to see they have pounded the Panda! 🤠
I'm looking for a large format printer that is affordable, looks like this checks alot of those boxes. Also, Nathan, who is your stylist? Starting to think you are also a fashion genius.
Hello Sir, Isn't K2 supposed to have AI spaghetti detection? Did it fail to detect the constipation of the k2 . I also purchased mine tonight with your affiliate link. Appreciate you!
Thanks! Mine isn’t properly connected to the cloud or internet, so I didn’t use those features. Also there are some more advanced calibrations you can do, but I didn’t do them because I had to split my time between making parts and tearing the machine down and messing with settings. In the end I tore it mostly apart to inspect the electronics, but for the rest of the time I just ran as many prints as I could in the time I had
Hi Nathan, as you said that this is a competition to X1C. Could you please compare the result for CF infused filament? and some high end filament if possible in the future video. Looking forward for how creality going to make the CFS compatible with K1C.
not really, it pushes air into the chamber, which then comes out some vents. You can see some better close ups in my "Whats Under The Hood" video linked in the video description
Looks like a good printer, may well get one myself if the 1q25 BambuLab release isn't a big step forward. Shame they didn't go for a six way AMS as there should be room for it on the top. Plus for the record the BL X1C detects purge shoot blockages and pauses the print.😊
I just sold my X1C for one of these... Got the K2 on ebay direct from creaility for only 1220$ with the seasonal 20% discount code that was active at the time... I think for that price it is worth it regardless.
Nice find! Yeah what a lot of people don't realize is Creality is always running sales, so even this high end model will likely start selling under MSRP in 2-3 months.
@@NathanBuildsRobots They are! Do you know..? Is the MSRP on this $1850 or $1495? I see it listed as both under their website and it changes depending on when I look ahahah
I think a lot of people will ask about the active heater. Qidi is currently having a few problems in countries with 110-120V. It would be interesting to have a look at the hardware from Creality.
They have uploaded a bunch of videos on servicing various components. It sounds like they are taking more than one page out of the bambu lab playbook, hopefully that applies to their serviceability and aftermarket support too. It does look quite complex on the inside compared to your old Ender 3, so it definitely needs extra care on the side of customer support
I bought p1s at 489£. Can I buy this at that price? So no need to compare it to very expensive device. Is it better than x1 carbon? X1 carbon is currently at 919£ K2 plus is a bit pricy
Where you getting the rfid filaments cos i cant seem to get any...would be an idea for creality to release them upfront so we can stock up for the k2's🙄
So really its this printer vs the QIDI Plus 4 (which is only 310x310).. be curious which of the two are better/faster, more consistent with quality prints.
Yup buts its now resolved. They are sending out new ssr boards as well as ordering refunds. QIDI was awesome in sending out parts for my heater and a new hot end as well free of charge and are giving one year extended warranties to everyone affected. That is how a company should respond. Give them a chance. They have an even more open platform using klipper out of the box. Well worth a look given the 370c nozzle temp speed chamber and bigger belts that all but eliminate vfas.
Really cool to hear that the company that to date did not put out a single printer without any firmware issues finally got it right first try. Not just right, but right in a super combo with their first-gen AMS and also their first-gen in-house closed-loop drive system. This is some caterpillar-to-butterfly metamorphosis stuff. Just amazing.
Actually, they gave 5 promotional prices during their preorder sale. They sold the K2 at 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and finally at $1499.00. So, this is no 11/11 deal! They sold 400 units for $749.00 with the CFS at 50%. promotion. If they can give away 400 combo units for $749.00 then they can do much better for Black Friday.
Im shocked how cheaply they can build this stuff in China. It’s a 80 lb hunk of metal with a bunch of motors and electronics, probably costs $200 to ship, then they have to pay other costs and still sell it for $750-$1500? I’m guessing the first units were sold at a slight loss or breaking even. That is just insanely cheap for what this machine is
The issue with creality is quality control and long term durability, it would be good to have a review in six months, I don’t know why Nathan doesn’t like Bambu Labs, they shook up the market which is a good thing and they do make good machines
I didn't notice any stringing on my test prints. Though, the non-creality PLA I tested did print cleaner. Maybe the Hyper PLA from creality is more stringy? I really couldn't tell though since I haven't noticed the issue you're talking about.
It's not hate, it's just skepticism because it's a paid video, he's extremely positive about it, and their last printers have been unreliable and poorly built.
@@urjnlegend I like really Nathan, he seems like a cool guy. I just don't think this is an unbiased review. Maybe I'm wrong - and if they've turned their QC around and it's a great, reliable printer then I'll happily admit that.
Nathan..if I have a Bambu P1S and an Ender v3 as my main printers (an A1 mini as an assist)...does getting a K2 give me advantages I don't currently have. I do want larger print volume..b/c I model and print toy vehicles..up to 2-3 feet long. But I'm kind of still a casual hobbiest..there are peaks an valleys to my printing activity.
X1c is in black friday discount - it was so last year without K2. But I also think and hope it brings down prices in the better consumer grade printers. :)
I had heard rumors that the CFS unit would be backwards compatible with the newer Creality printers (k1, k1c, e3v3) it is currently listed for sale separately on their website. do you have any info on compatibility?
running a p1p with ams is NOT difficult. you don't need to use the sd card to transport gcode, you LEAVE THAT IN THE PRINTER - put the printer in offline mode, and then send the prints over the LOCAL NETWORK to the printer from the slicer (works great with orca or bambu's own slicer just like you would do for a voron or a ratrig) just like how you should be doing it with the k2 plus and the k1 series as well. - it's ALREADY got a computer inside with storage, you don't need thumb drives or sd cards to move the gcode around anymore. - and touchscreens are completely optional because you can have FULL control over the printer with your computer, your phone, or a tablet. one of my printers is a p1s+ams (which is basically a factory enclosed p1p) and the only time I interact with the interface ON the printer is if I have to emergency stop due to a failed print, or when i'm setting up my slicer and need to get the security code to be able to access it (or initially to put it into local only mode). I don't need a dedicated touchscreen to cancel a print when the cheap button interface (or heck, even a rotary encoder with a stop button like in the case of my voron v0 and voron v2) - I have a k1 max as well, i do the same, ignoring the touch screen completely with the exception of canceling prints. it's just not worth the extra expense on a printer when you can use your phone or computer.
After Klipper, I use the 3D printer's user interface for maintenance. I send the print job directly from PrusaSlicer for newly created parts, and use the Fluidd web browser interface to monitor the prints and resubmit print jobs for production. I generally agree that the more reliable a 3D printer is, the less I need/want a user interface on the printer.
My P1P had a broken wifi module. I think it may have gotten fried when I tried to plug in the cable for the LED bar they sent me as an early backer reward. I may have plugged it in backwards and fried the wifi chip. But with that not working, the machiine was not fun to use. It printed great, and I could figure out how to use single colors, but also my contacts at bambu were ignoring me at that point. They transferred my support tickets to their CEO and he ignored me, so I couldn't figure out how to get support or replacement parts for my machine.
@@NathanBuildsRobots oh, ok, this makes perfect sense then for your p1p (and I know that some of those early units were less-than-stellar when it came to overall build quality on their electronics.) - and yeah, I could certainly see if you didn't have working wifi on the printer where the really "meh" control module would be frustrating... it's really not thought-through as a complete interface - the designers clearly expected you to use the slicer or app for the majority of the control.
Printer of the year slot for 2024 is taken. Might as well aim for 2025. Also bambu likes to hold their cards close to the chest. They are very worried about people copying their designs, so they need to hit the market with a blitzkrieg effect.
@@NathanBuildsRobotsI think you're going to get your Bambu affiliate link back in 2025 Just in time for the release of the newest printer, however, you will not get one of those printers. Lol! You'll like the cash!
I like it but both Babmu AMS and Creality CFS aren't capable to print multi color flex materials. So I can't make multi color flexibles. Also I'm not sure how will handle the CFS a PMMA, PA12 and etc.
for the waste issue between this and the prusa xl for cost difference between both machines (1500 vs 3500) you could build a filament recycler for the poop. And the xl is missing a lot of features the k2 has.
Thank You very much for mentioning the cloud and ip issue, and giving information about offline capability. Most reviews dont give this information whatever cause ...... Because of this disrespect for customers rights makes bmbu a nogo for me.
I don't know if it's possible but multi color printers can flush old filaments as infill on possible layers. So while slicing the parts the app can do that or offer that for less poop
Hello, today I have seen a P1S with an issue with one of the bearings which was made hard to access and basically bambu declaired an 8 hour work to replace it. And Alternatively they suggested to replace the entire top kinematics section. Is the Creality this bad to maintain also? I have read somewhere about a Qidi printer as well which you are unable to replace some parts, most likely to boost manufacturing of their machines.
Yeah I literally gave them several paragraphs of explanation of how the Corexy cantry is going to be a huge problem if any of the bearings go bad (they WILL go bad eventually, they are wear items). Basically, use them until they break, then throw it in the landfill and get a new one. Great business model as you have to keep buying from them.
@NathanBuildsRobots thanks for replying, I can't see someone buying a premium priced machine from them once someone experience this issue. It's weird that nobody ever mentioned this, I just saw this today. It seems to be a very bad engineering choice from them but most likely have prioritize manufacturing cost and speed.
@@NathanBuildsRobots You don't have to do it in one 8 hr marathon though. Sure, it's a big job but break it down to an hour or so each day and it's manageable. I'm not saying it's ideal, and shouldn't be improved, but it doesn't make it disposable. Plenty of machines take a long time to fix. They do at least have really great service info.
Like others have speculated this might be a clue to what the BBL boys might spring up on there next Big Boy 3D printer.... when? I haven't heard anything yet on the timing. And on a side note I would really like and appreciate it if the boys at BBL would incorporate or sell an upgrade on their P1S slim U.I. interface to a proper sized U.I. display as their X1C unit with the capability to provide an image of what is going to be printed.
"Tell me why the X1C is better than the K2" (paraphrased) My X1C tells me when the poop chute backs up and will pause the print to allow me to fix it so it doesn't die like your Batman mask did.🤣🤣🤣
I'd always used offline printing and became fairly efficient with it, but Mainsail, Klipper and PrisaSlicer spoiled me. I now print from the slicer, over WiFi. I don't think that's a significant security risk and it's *SO* convenient. Cloud printing sucks and is dumber than dirt. My hope for Bambu was that they'd encourage a 3D printer company to make higher quality 3D printers that were open source. Achievement unlocked. My revised Bambu hope was that they'd make TPU filament that was compatible with their AMS so other manufacturers would follow suit and we'd have TPU that will feed in a CFS on the K2 Plus. We're halfway there. Bambu announced it and I'm waiting for filament manufacturers to make their higher durometer TPU. I want to be able to 3D print products with ABS and TPU without any post assembly. So close. Now that hi-res color printing is becoming mainstream in a printer with a heated chamber, we're going to need a dedicated acetone smoothing chamber for an entire build plate of ABS prints, and whatever solvent vapor smooths PETG. Imagine how nice those little multi-color figures would be with acetone smoothed ABS. That's a trick injection molding can't do. Most of my printing consists of smaller parts for production, and often they're 8" tall thin wall TPU parts that can't be printed fast no matter how fast the printer is, until printers add input shaping for accelerated rubbery part deflections, but I appreciate a large print surface and reliable printing that allows me to array a large sheet of parts in a 24 hour print. Every month I need to print something large for my own projects such as a battery cover for my Japanese mini truck or pannier racks for my little adventure motorcycle so that large print volume is great. The K2 Plus would be a good Does Everything printer for me. I've purchased 11 3D printers. Looks like I'll be buying my 12th printer, probably on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Nathan Builds Robots is the definitive source for cool $#!^ I need to buy!
0.o? So if they are going on sale tonight, what about those of us to put in pre-orders back in June/July? My July 1st preorder still says "Awaiting Shipment", does that mean they are going to start shipping our pre-orders this week? (crosses fingers)
no, most of the people will get them in december/january as it stands currently, I think the orders they open tomorrow will be offered with January shipping the earliest
@@ntopee Well the last email I got was saying November 8th for shipments of the preorders to start and they should all be received by November 15th... That time table may well have slipped, but there hasn't been any word one way or another. Again, I'm referring to those with June and July preorders, not the ones that apparently are going to start tonight.

Looks pretty good, but given what happened on the launch of the K1 (and with Creality's reputation as "mod before you can actually print"), I would give it a few months to see what shakes out with the full production shipping units. Also a bit concerned with Creality's pace of "innovation" that maybe parts won't be available when the "K3" gets released. They seem really good at fracturing their product lines with incompatible parts. At least with the Bambu X1 series, there's plenty of 3rd party parts and support available because it has been around for a while.
I purchased the K1 Max to add to our work X1Cs (we have 8) for the larger build volume. It was a poor quality experience and poor support from creality. This might be good but time will tell if this can do print after print for 2 years with same accuracy and repeatability. The other factors is as consumers we should give our money to companies who innovate so they have the funds to keep innovating. It’s a personal choice not for everyone.
As someone coming from Creality machines .If changing from the ultimate troubleshooter similators that those machines are to a bambulab makes me a fanboy well you damn right I am ... But after the facts and doing the math at the end of the day that makes you a Creality simp
Yeah bro I want this thing to be a Bambu killer as much as you clearly do but I feel like we need some more technical/quantitative test before a verdict can be reached
It would be cool to see someone said in the video that K2 does not have Drying feature in their AMS system. Much cheaper ACE pro does have it. It doesn't look good to sweet it this much
1 design flaw, the heater pulls ambient temperature air from the outside to the inside. Not only is this inefficient but also pumps toxic flumes into the environment thought the seems in the door, etc. A circulating heater fully inside the machine would be much better, especially if it was at the center/bottom and pulled air via ducting from the center top. If there open sourcing the whole thing and i already have a solid 300mm cubed bed dropper printer (extremely modified Sermoon D1) i might just get the 'CFS' 🤩and add it to the machine i have now.
Even though I have a Bambu labs but hold no real "allegiance" to any brand, the salt comments are pricelss. Looking for a bigger printer with reliable results so hopefully this pans out to be a good product in the futre unlike the orignal K1's launch that ended driving me to Bambu labs in the first place...also missed the Carboard P1S edition lol
Yeah nah. What I learned with my k1 max. Give it a few more hours and the shit starts. Also hopefully the coin toss on creality QC is resolved. Just wait a year and this thing will be on sale for half of tho! That’s nice
I believe they should be? Not positive, but I amcurious if they will still be doing backwards compatibility with the various k1 models.
I doubt that Creality sells the CFS separately. But Big Tree Tech has posted a picture of what looks like an AMS. It could be a Klipper compatible multi-material unit.
they are its on the website
I got a couple 3-dChameleons earlier this year. None of the add-ons that drew my eye have been released yet. 3MS has a conversion to run the 3-dChameleon on Klipper. I'm unsure if they have a BOM for building an AMS/MMU but it would be worth a gander.
check out co print 3d. Their KMS promises compatibility on any klipper printer with access to klipper web.

Might want to wait a bit longer even.
100%. creality burned me too many times with the enders and the K1... no thanks.
Competition is competition. I'm all for it.
Is this a human comment?
@@NathanBuildsRobots it most definitely is not
I really don't think of myself as a Creality fan boy, but since my first printer, a Ender 3 pro now a franken Ender 3 pro with a Sonic Pad, I have enjoyed my experiences with Creality--at printer prices I can afford.
What I've learned from Creality: never buy the first batchs! Modding Enders was fun but also necessary. However, the need for mods doesn’t determine if a product is good or not. If a printer works well out of the box, there's no need to mod.
In regards to poop shoot blockage, Creality new update does address this issue and will stop the print and wait for you to clear it. A very nice perk.
Good to see, I’ll wait till I see it for myself, but that is a pretty bad failure mode that should be addressed
I'll be keeping this one for long term use.
I can't say that you come across as unbiased lately.
Yeah same...
Same here, feels off.
I have k2 plus in my hand for two days now. So far so good, more times needed to test its reliability.
Still waiting for mine to ship after buying on the early bird offer. sigh
Good to hear from some people that have pre-order printers. Shipping can be rough on these machines, hopefully you can get those issues sorted out
@@NathanBuildsRobots Damn, you quick on the reply.
I'd love to see aurora do a review but your vids are what making choose it
One thing you forgot to mention about the Prusa XL is the $4500 price tag. That's a major trade-off when comparing to a K2 Plus.

No input shaping test plots.

No. Just print, any printer prints.
Does it print WELL?

Creality included many of the K1 mods into the K2, but will it be enough to be good and not need a bunch of mods to print well?

Love the Temu Elf sweater.
They call me it enough that I've decided to own the word. I'm 1000% a creality fanboy now.
Dont know if hating on a certain brand for no reason is a good way to review a printer. You compared the newest of new printer of creality to bambu's printer that was old and are implying that its outdated.
@@NathanBuildsRobots let's hope it will, because this machine is not cheap

Will you show us rhe ease of maintenance eg. Taking apart the extruder and AMS. changing nozzles. Uncloging nozzles. Etc thank you
I only just found out about this.

MAKE CREALITY GREAT AGAIN
@@NathanBuildsRobots ROTFLMAO!!!
Prusa: Am I a joke to you??
Flashforge adventurer 5m :)
bro dressed up like santas elves
Thanks for thermal camera shots, chamber heater design looks bad. Does it realy heats up electronics chamber?
not really, it pushes air into the chamber, which then comes out some vents. You can see some better close ups in my "Whats Under The Hood" video linked in the video description
One question: Why this extruder does not sucks like all the K1 ones?
Its a completely different design that has doubly supported bearings
I really like the build volume and that it’s enclosed. But that price is far out what I could ever afford.
It isn't cheap, hopefully they will make some cheaper versions of this machine soon
Some time down the road can you go over how to do "snap away supports" with K2 I think you can do supports with PETG and model in PLA ?
I think a lot of people will ask about the active heater. Qidi is currently having a few problems in countries with 110-120V. It would be interesting to have a look at the hardware from Creality.
It has a cooliing fan and stayed cool during my testing. I have some thermal video in this video
Real "trust me bro" vibes here.
I hope they've done as much for their Customer Support dept.
Can you use vanilla orcaslicer successfully with this machine with the CFS?
I bought p1s at 489£. Can I buy this at that price? So no need to compare it to very expensive device.
Is it better than x1 carbon? X1 carbon is currently at 919£
K2 plus is a bit pricy
Those are all very small printers, so of course they would be less expensive.
I'm not sure you realize how big this machine is. It is around 70 lbs
next project maybe a printing marathon? like a week or a month nonstop printing?
I’m more excited for a smaller version of this!
Qidi plus 4 has had a fire risk due to a design flaw in the chamber heater circuit
2:42 hahahaha me too. Yea, I think this printer is gonna be the new king for sure, waiting to see how much the will be here in NZ.
It's certainly a step in the right direction
This is the printer that everyone wanted
That is just insanely cheap for what this machine is
The issue with creality is quality control and long term durability, it would be good to have a review in six months, I don’t know why Nathan doesn’t like Bambu Labs, they shook up the market which is a good thing and they do make good machines
it looks like the default print profile on the k2 has a lot of stringing. have you managed to sort that out?
I didn't notice any stringing on my test prints. Though, the non-creality PLA I tested did print cleaner. Maybe the Hyper PLA from creality is more stringy? I really couldn't tell though since I haven't noticed the issue you're talking about.
I dont understand the hate, he's showing a printer that is working for him
It's not hate, it's just skepticism because it's a paid video, he's extremely positive about it, and their last printers have been unreliable and poorly built.
@@oldman1944 How do we know its a paid video? It is sponsored by some print service or something yes.
@oldman1944 looks extremely hateful to me, don't see this kind of hate on any other youtube channel
@@gitss7367 Creality sent him a $1500 printer for free.
Now that you ask, I totally forgot to mention the SV-08 as a competitor to this printer. It offers the same large build volume but way fewer features
@@NathanBuildsRobots You can get replacement parts, and you can make a shell for the machine.
Way to go, Nathan, you broke it!!
We did it!
@@NathanBuildsRobots lol

This printer i probably why bambu lab just delayed their large printer until Q1 2025
How effective is the filtration at reducing the smell of ABS and ASA?
Bambu has an issue with RESPECT
BTW I sent them this explainer 2 years ago.
Are there replacement parts for the K2? I wasnt able to finde them.
its not yet
lol is not even out yet
Great video and energy! I can't wait to get mine.
Your new project looks very interesting as well :
"Tell me why the X1C is better than the K2" (paraphrased)
My X1C tells me when the poop chute backs up and will pause the print to allow me to fix it so it doesn't die like your Batman mask did.🤣🤣🤣
loooool, you got me there!
Creality must have forgot a sensor. I think the nozzle cam could be programmed to detect an overflow
And being years on the market has nothing to do with it right? Shill. 😂
Nathan Builds Robots is the definitive source for cool $#!^ I need to buy!
every "free" printer i get given to me is a 10/10! 😅
Lol tbh I hate most of the printers that get sent to me. This one is a gem though

I like the term "ultimate troubleshooter similator", that's a good one!
If there open sourcing the whole thing and i already have a solid 300mm cubed bed dropper printer (extremely modified Sermoon D1) i might just get the 'CFS' 🤩and add it to the machine i have now.
yeah can't believe they did this lol
Even though I have a Bambu labs but hold no real "allegiance" to any brand, the salt comments are pricelss. Looking for a bigger printer with reliable results so hopefully this pans out to be a good product in the futre unlike the orignal K1's launch that ended driving me to Bambu labs in the first place...also missed the Carboard P1S edition lol
According to its product description it can do everything but print flexible TPU
How does this compare to the Qidi plus 4, i would have thought that would have been a closer comparison
Where do you buy the ams thing?
Same place as the link to the K2 Plus. Its not compatible with other printers yet, but I imagine they are working on an upgrade path.
Yeah nah. What I learned with my k1 max. Give it a few more hours and the shit starts.
Also hopefully the coin toss on creality QC is resolved.
Just wait a year and this thing will be on sale for half of tho! That’s nice
I have no doubt my machine went through more testing than the production models will get. But if the machine is designed right, it should be reliable.
Bought a k1 max about 6 months ago which is awesome but now I kinda want this one 😅
