  • The firefighters and emergency teams who risked their own lives to try and save those trapped inside the burning Grenfell Tower block were nothing short of heroic and courageous.
    One of them was Damian Magee from Whitechapel Fire Station's Red Watch. They got the call to attend the Grenfell blaze in the early hours of Wednesday.
    Sky's senior correspondent David Bowden spoke to him.

      I respect your conviction.
      I may say, these are living persons, not heroes. They do a hard and dangerous work. I appreciate. Named them hereos is a ambivalent term. The term heroes let me think about american politic in times of war (Vietnam). The worst the war was, the more heroes exist.
      All soldiers are named heroes. To keep the relatives and the people of USA silent?
      In real life, a heros in war is 5 minutes later, thrown on his own life, forgotten by governement, wellfare, healthcare and any living person.
      Told someone as a hero is propanda.
      Had a grandfather. A real nice and lovely person. The sun of my whole life until he died as I was 16. He came home from 2 WW wounded. And there rest in family nothing from towards propanda of heroes. There was a broken life and a broken family.
      Please be conscious: heroes doesn't exist. They are made.
      Peace.
      Me

      suga delrey racism? Is allah a race? Is islam an ethnic group? Well done for trying that one! It's a ridiculous ideology that DEMANDS muslims not to integrate.....but I'm the "racist"?

    • @cringlecoulson
      @cringlecoulson 7 лет назад +3

      suga delrey islam is the third totalitarian ideology that threatens humanity. It is a pernicious and deceitful ideology, which disguises itself perfectly since it is part “religion”.Islam is more than a religion(the religious part of islam is only about 18%), IT IS A COMPLETE CIVILIZATION including politics and laws.IN ISLAM, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STATE AND THE RELIGION.There is no separation of church (mosque) and state. So, the religion is the state, and the state is the religion, they are one and the same. All laws are already written in the koran and in the sunna. This means: the mosque decides and the imam rules…
      Islam sees the world as eternally divided into two opposing camps:1.) Dar al-Harb (land of war, ruled by the infidels)…..2.) Dar al-Islam (land of peace, ruled by muslims)…Any country that is not islamic and not ruled by muslims is seen as a land of war.Europe belongs to the Dar al-Harb and MUST be subjugated.THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF ISLAM IS TO DOMINATE AND CONTROL THE WORLD AND TO ESTABLISH THE SHARIA WORLDWIDE…

    how deeply heartbreaking and devastating it must be for these amazing firefighters to hear people screaming for help, screaming for their lives and not be able to help them ! it takes a very special kind of person to do what these men and women do and thank whoever or whatever that we have so many of them willing to do all that they can to the point of total exhaustion to then still push on and try to save people they don't even know, totally selfless and heroic !!!! they all deserve a bravery medal ! as do some of the police officers and other people who also did an amazing job trying to help people escape the fire. my very deepest sympathy goes to everyone affected by this terrible fire.

    What they went though is a firefighter’s absolute nightmare, they tried so hard and went beyond they boundaries trying to get people out of that blaze but even that wasn’t enough.
    And the only thing what we saw was the number of dead which was already terrible, but they saw the dead one by one which are scars they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives.

    Most traumatic thing any 5 year old has had to see and witness, it should never have happened, it makes me blood boil as this was totally preventable in 2017, one would expect something like this to have happen in 1940s as they never had the technology, the expertise or infrastructure in place back then. In 2017 is disgusting, this should be a criminal investigation and those at K&C council and contractors who installed this if found guilty should be held on manslaughter.

    This is a story about prevention. Firefighters and residents could not do much at this stage. It was all stacked up against them at this stage.

    having been in the building trade for some 40 years as a specifier and scheduler of architectural ironmonger and within that i had to ensure all architectural ironmongery (locks and handles)complied with all fire and DDA regulations ,I also recall that all the public use buildings had to be passed by a fire offices that would review all aspects of fire escape and the materials including fire doors and escape routes based on the flow of escaping people, the fire brigade and their fire officers are the people responsible for signing off the building as safe and they had the legal rights to demand further work to be done if they considered it must be improved ,it has to be asked why did the fire service's fire officers sign off a building that used none fire retardant materials ,they may have rescued people from that building but they also may be responsible for an inadequate assessment of fire movement scenarios around fire proof room cells, if a council or architect tried save money at the cost of safety the fire offices can override any consideration of cost to ensure the safety of people in a building they have the last word on it

    I think in every tower block they should have those parachutes for fire safety

    • @MaxSafeheaD
      @MaxSafeheaD 6 лет назад +2

      Not necessary.
      What they need is proper fire doors, emergency lighting, a protected stairwell, ideally sprinklers but for heavens sakes, the main failing was the local conservative government - the building had failed fire safety tests for several years before, as a cost-saving exercise, the richest council in britain chose to facade the building with flamable, rather than flame retarding cladding, in order to make it look pretty for the rich local residents.
      Tory Britain - the rich are the only ones they care for ... it's time we changed that.

    why they didint sent a bucket elicopter back up? your superiors must know that the ladder was not going to reach.. they are widely used everywhere..

    • @johnrichards7847
      @johnrichards7847 7 лет назад +24

      f.bruno dj widely used for forrest fires which is gine because tipping tonnes of water on trees is ok but people it could actualy crush them and the blades would give the fire more oxygen

      John Richards oh so it's okay for helicopters to fly there and film people dying, but not to help take down the fire. Amazing!

      The helicopters have cameras with a massive zoom lens so they are nowhere near it just seems close

    We can never thank the fire fighters enough for their bravery and dedication. But now we must find those responsible for this. The contractors who installed the cladding.

    All emergency services especially the fire brigade, paramedics,doctors, nurse's anyone who Save's lives including the police should be paid a lot more just like an MP who wouldn't know a proper days work if it hit them in the face.

      And the fact that these operations are dangerous, due to the fact that it's quite a small target to hit and it puts crews that operate the safety nets and the safety cushions in danger.

    This is why the fire brigade of the 21st century need firefighting drones

    • @wilsjane
      @wilsjane 7 лет назад +3

      A ladder truck can pump up to a ton a minute of water onto a fire, how much water would a drone carry.??? Also, the pressure of a water jet would propel the drone in the opposite direction like a jet engine. .

    • @pankourlaut
      @pankourlaut 7 лет назад

      What if they had thousands of tiny drones (each carrying a litre) to act as a pipeline from the source of water e.g. a nearby lake to the building on fire. It's like setting up an ad hoc water conveyor to anywhere.

      Im just saying its bot bormaly needed becasue they are designed to contain the fire to 1 floor but the cladding on the ouside allowed it to spread rapidly to everyfloor other than some lower ones

    • @johnrichards7847
      @johnrichards7847 7 лет назад

      Yea its horrific that it can be allowed and people can get away with it the regulations should be improved for glats in the uk after this beace more than 70 lives were lost last time i checked so its worse than most of our terrorist attacks

      Its not lack of common sense its worse its people bot caring about lives its just about profit they use bad materials and apply them badly just to save money sothey get mote profit hopefully the people incharge of this building get charged for involutary man slaughter
