Love the budgeting tips! I already do so many of these things but love to see a different perspectives! I love that you recommend budgeting in the things at want to do( basically what keeps us motivated in a way) and you’ll never go over budget! We have been tighter on money( only debt is our mortgage) and so I haven’t been giving me and hubby that but I totally just need to make it a priority!
I took your advice for multiple savings accounts a while back. We do auto transfers so we don't even notice the money! Now we have a good size personal savings as well as savings for our children and a few desired large purchases.

Yup I watched that video too and I’ve never had more personal savings in my life! Each of my kids has 2 savings accounts, 1 for college saving and 1 for car saving. I have 2 savings accounts, 1 for short term saving and 1 for long term/emergency saving. I have another savings for home imp/car maintenance, I have a savings for when my student loans are out of deferment, I have a debit card just for beauty related purchases, like pedicures, eyebrows, or hair. I have an account that I only pay bills out of and my debit is for me to buy anything I want ... but if it’s a pedicure or something, I use the debit beauty card.
Budgeting by week and not my the month is my favorite tip! I feel like a month is so overwhelming and it’s so hard to figure out how much we need for a month. Going by a week makes so much sense!
As a 26 year old who loved finance videos when I was your age too, my advice, DO NOT get into credit card debt!! Never spend your future money. I’m still trying to get this right lol
The best thing I did was listen to the adults and learn from their mistakes. The best advise about establishing credit was buying a starter piece of the expensive furniture I wanted for a home some day instead of a car. Choose a China cabinet that doubled as an entertainment unit until I could afford the dinning table. Had the cabinet for twenty plus years. If I would have chosen the car it would have only lasted a few years and cost more. Also did an old fashion hope chest. Started buying basics for a home. A good set of cookware, etc. Hope this information helps you make more good decisions for your future.
Take it from a 35 year old, definitely start from the very beginning living this way. You will KILL it as an adult if you do. Life will be so much easier.

Yep if hubby comes I'm over budget by about £30 if its just the kids it's normaly over budget by £30 if we all go me hubby and kids it can easily be £70 over budget! X
I always do "no spend September" each year. No spending that isn't groceries, gas, bills, etc. Basically no extra spending and NO Amazon lol. This year I ended the month with enough extra money to pay off my husband phone, thus lowering our monthly bill😀 I love to set a different financial goal for each month! I also put $40 cash in my wallet each month, if I want a Starbucks, soda, etc. I have to use that cash, once it's gone it's gone. It works great because thay stuff adds up fast!!
Budgeting by week and only using 2 categories even though I am paid monthly is a game changer for me mentally! It has definitely helped save more and feel like i have just enough flexibility to feel sorta normal during my big debt payoff journey.

I love tip 2A, to squeeze the weekly budget and be frugal! It really is so much more manageable in small weekly chunks, and it’s so much easier if I focus on being frugal for a week at a time vs the whole month at a time.
I'm going through hard financial Times at the moment but I'm getting through it. I agree with multiple bank accounts. I have 1 for bills, 1 for food, 1 for family spending, 1for saving for birthdays/Christmas and 1 for saving for a rainy day plus saving accounts for my children. At the beginning of each month I divide it up into amounts that work for me. Most importantly I make sure I have the bills and food paid for (no take away food included). I don't want to lose my house or be hungry, then depending how much I have left over and what I need to buy I divide that up, some months there is a lot of spending on family things and other months I'm able to save, sometimes I put an amount straight into the savings account so when I look at that account there is little money so I then say 'can't buy it, there's no cash'. If it's something that I really need then I take out only that amount from the savings. It takes a lot of discipline because we have been conditioned to spend spend spend. I want to be in control of the money, I don't want it to control me. It's working ok for now.
In the Netherlands every bankaccount is around €5.- every month! So thats not possible here! 7 accounts would be €45 extra just to pay the bank! And we don’t have something like fetch! Do love the rest of your tips, love your videos!🥰
Same in Ireland we pay bank charges for each account plus for using your card. There is also a government levy on bank cards. 7 accounts wouldn’t be worth it.
I love the simplification of weekly budgets. Not having 30 envelopes and trying to keep track of what you took out of where to put somewhere. AND the multiple bank accounts has been amazing for us!!

My favourite tip is budget tracking. I feel like money for most people is taboo to talk about, which then makes it hard to teach kids/adults how to have a proper relationship with it. My family has decided to travel across Canada next summer, so we have to save save save for the next 9 months to make our dream come true. We will be following all your guidelines to help us :) I’m also going to be very transparent and teach the kids how to save and show them our savings grow, so that they see the benefits of working hard and saving and then enjoying an amazing trip!

I love the budget planner tip, it's so helpful. Whenever those money anxieties start creeping up, I go to my budget planner and come up with a realistic plan that I know I can stick to and it always makes me feel better and more in control!

My favorite tip is #3! Have at least 7 bank accounts! This totally changed me. I already had an account with two credit unions, so I had a checking and savings account with each. Then I opened an account with Ally after hearing about it from Jordan and Bubba and then doing research on it. I have just a savings account with them, so total I have 5 different accounts. Im not married so this works well for me right now and I use Jordan’s same method with these accounts to manage my money. And I LOVE having all the different buckets in my Ally account to help designate what I’m saving for specifically.
Having two weekly budgets is a great way to keep things SIMPLE! Keeping track week to week is much less overwhelming than monthly. I love good bite-sized tips I can take and start working on immediately while also having the opportunity to dive deeper if I want. Just an idea for you. I would love love love to have a digital budget planner that works with GoodNotes! I would invest majorly for that. I don’t have the storage for a lot of paper planners so I’ve converted mostly to digital now so everything is on my iPad which then slides over to my Mac and my iPhone. Just a thought! 💕

Making a spreadsheet is probably the best tip I could ever take in, in this video. Physical seeing everything is amazing. It makes life so much easier looking at everything rather than "thinking" it in my head.
I like the bonus/sub tip 2A in being frugal each week with your budget. I find it rewarding to put extra money in savings when I don't spend all of my budget!
Great tips Jordan but it's impossible to implement the tip about bank account if you live in Spain, lately all the banks fees every bank account to maintain it opens, the cheaper is $15 every month per account (you can skip the fee if you spend $60 with your credit card every month in each account), if you have 7 accounts it's almost $100 every month. For a few years I used the kakebo system to budget but most days I forgot to write down the little expenses and I change to an Excel sheet that I can update in my phone.
kotokoo I do have an Excel Sheet that I keep on my phone too and update at every purchase. I always have my phone with me and everytime I write a purchase, I instantly see how much I have left. Its really easy 👌🏻 I’ve had it for several months now and its been eye opening. Small purchases add up SO FAST !
I’m Italian and for us is the same, BUT many banks are starting to offer online - just online, no physical assistance whatsoever - accounts, with no expenses. So I have one and I’m waiting: I’m sure in the next few months/ys many options will come up here in the old Europe too.

My favorite tip is #4 use a budget planner. I'm a visual learner and being able to see all my money in one place helps me to set goals and see what I have achieved and what needs work. And who doesn't love a cute planner
I personally love cash and envelopes but I am a visual person. I want to see it and hold it in my hand. We also have a very small income for a family of 3. And not much extra cash and every dollar is going to pay off our small amount of debt... I just started our cash system and have been able to save over 200 in 1 month when we used to have to take out a small loan to make it to pay day.... I would like to get to a place we can just use cards but not now.
I love the last tip! Adding spending money is so important because it gives you motivation to keep going and not feeling like you can treat yourself or do fun things with family and friends.

Honestly, my favorite too is to simplify. I have been following you for a long time, but I have always struggled with that because I felt like if I break it down so specific, it limits me from over spending. After watching this video when you first posted it, I finally gave it a try. And so far, I LOVE it! I love that if I am frugal enough in my main and other budgets, I can do more with it. Which made my husband need a budget for himself too. So we divided responsibilities, which we also haven't done before. I am excited about our budget again. And it's been a while since I've felt that. Thank you!
Fetch isn’t in Canada. I used to use the rewards apps and stopped. Shopping is not a big thing for us. We rarely buy on amazon. The 7 bank accounts...I’m working on my husband to get a second account. It fully has to be a agreement for both of us to do it. I’ve showed him the videos too.
Jordan, this is the biggest fight that my parents have. Like you my mother just can’t get along with money like my father can. He (and he brothers included) biggest pet peeve is using a credit card or the store card to pay for gas worse then that even the 3 cents off on Kroger gas. He even saying if you can’t pay the gas in cash you shouldn’t be driving at all.
In my 20's, my then husband and I had one credit card we used only for gas. We paid it off every month and it helped us build a good credit history as well as budget and know exactly where our money went. He was reluctant at first, but eventually admitted it was a good idea and great help. I do recommend it, especially for younger folks who don't have much of a credit history yet. Just be sure it gets paid in full every month.
My favorite tip is make things simple! Make the budget per week! My husband gets paid once a month so it’s hard to not spend the grocery budget in the first 2 weeks. I love the idea of every week you have a specific amount. I use Smiths for my groceries and I love their “buy 5 save 5 deals. And I find stickers for meats that are buy 1 get 1 free and meats that are near the sell buy dates. Those are my favorite finds. I also use their digital coupons too! It’s my high when I click the “pay now” button and watch the total go down and down! So the best tip I got was break down your grocery budget each week to a specific amount so you never go over. Makes so much sense!!! Love it!!!
I put stuff in my cart and (unless it’s something vital) let it sit a few days. If you have to buy something vital in the meantime, go to your cart and just click on Save For Later then make your purchase. It’s amazing to me how often I will go to buy a necessity only to see stuff I thought I HAD to have just sitting in my cart. At that point I either just remove it or “save for later.” It’s also handy for things you like but think you wouldn’t hesitate if only it were a couple of dollars cheaper. You’ll see a notification if something in “save for later” has a price change and sometimes the price will drop to a place that feels more reasonable. You can also click to be notified if an item goes on sale as a today’s deal or lightning deal. Yeah, I spend a lot of time on Amazon... Oh! If you’re responsible with credit cards, get the Amazon card that only lets you charge on Amazon (not the visa or whatever). You’ll earn cash back in every purchase and you can choose how to get your rewards. I have mine set so when I want to make a purchase, I’m offered the chance to use my accumulated awards to reduce the price. So if I’m on the fence, it might make a difference. I used to have it set so it was just applied to reduce my balance every month. If you don’t like the idea of another credit card, set it up to offer you the chance to apply rewards to purchases and, as soon as you complete the transaction, make a payment from whatever account you’d rather use.
I can't wait to open my 7 bank accounts. It just makes so much sense to me. Makes keeping track of what you're saving for what so much easier to organize. 2 down, 5 more to go!
Unfortunately, nothing is for free. You pay with your personal data to Fetch. They will know what you buy, where you buy it and sell this information to vendors.

Nothing is for free?? You obviously don't use coupons. Just in the past 2 weeks I got free milk, tortilla wraps, cream cheese, tuna snack kits and chocolate covered raisins.
What’s funny, is that I already do most of this and have since my 12 yr old was a baby - including the multiple bank accounts. I just do a spreadsheet instead of writing on envelopes. I made it up on my own and I love it. Dave Ramsey has good tips but his budget / cash system doesn’t work for me. This method does work for me. This is much more reasonable and doable.
Simplify your budget has got to be the best advice on this video. I’ve tried a multiple envelope system before kids and it was crazy! 🤪 I cannot imagine doing it now with my two children and all their needs and wants. Also separating it out for a week at a time! GENIUS! Anyone can stick to a budget for 7 days at a time 🤩
I love the simple envelop method!! Instead of a bunch of different categories to keep up with, only having 2 keeps things much less daunting and easier to keep up with!
Definitely my favorite tip is "the envelope system." (And also the "give yourself some allowance to spend") bit seriously, I found that not only I keep better track of my expenses when I see the recipe, but also I noticed that sometimes stores and restaurants will charge you wrong!

At the beginning of each month I divide it up into amounts that work for me. Most importantly I make sure I have the bills and food paid for (no take away food included). I don't want to lose my house or be hungry, then depending how much I have left over and what I need to buy I divide that up, some months there is a lot of spending on family things and other months I'm able to save, sometimes I put an amount straight into the savings account so when I look at that account there is little money so I then say 'can't buy it, there's no cash'. If it's something that I really need then I take out only that amount from the savings. It takes a lot of discipline because we have been conditioned to spend spend spend. I want to be in control of the money, I don't want it to control me. It's working ok for now.

In the Netherlands every bankaccount is around €5.- every month! So thats not possible here! 7 accounts would be €45 extra just to pay the bank! And we don’t have something like fetch! Do love the rest of your tips, love your videos!🥰
Same in Ireland we pay bank charges for each account plus for using your card. There is also a government levy on bank cards. 7 accounts wouldn’t be worth it.

My favourite tip is budget tracking. I feel like money for most people is taboo to talk about, which then makes it hard to teach kids/adults how to have a proper relationship with it. My family has decided to travel across Canada next summer, so we have to save save save for the next 9 months to make our dream come true. We will be following all your guidelines to help us :) I’m also going to be very transparent and teach the kids how to save and show them our savings grow, so that they see the benefits of working hard and saving and then enjoying an amazing trip!

I asked him to get bell peppers and packing tape. He came back with those two items.....plus a pair of jeans, two sodas, a pumpkin roll, and I feel like there was something else 🤦🏼♀️

My favorite tip is #3! Have at least 7 bank accounts! This totally changed me. I already had an account with two credit unions, so I had a checking and savings account with each. Then I opened an account with Ally after hearing about it from Jordan and Bubba and then doing research on it. I have just a savings account with them, so total I have 5 different accounts. Im not married so this works well for me right now and I use Jordan’s same method with these accounts to manage my money. And I LOVE having all the different buckets in my Ally account to help designate what I’m saving for specifically.
Having two weekly budgets is a great way to keep things SIMPLE! Keeping track week to week is much less overwhelming than monthly. I love good bite-sized tips I can take and start working on immediately while also having the opportunity to dive deeper if I want.

Just an idea for you. I would love love love to have a digital budget planner that works with GoodNotes! I would invest majorly for that. I don’t have the storage for a lot of paper planners so I’ve converted mostly to digital now so everything is on my iPad which then slides over to my Mac and my iPhone. Just a thought! 💕

The tip that interests me the most is using a budget planner.. I keep spreadsheets, but a planner seems more simple...
Great tips Jordan but it's impossible to implement the tip about bank account if you live in Spain, lately all the banks fees every bank account to maintain it opens, the cheaper is $15 every month per account (you can skip the fee if you spend $60 with your credit card every month in each account), if you have 7 accounts it's almost $100 every month.
For a few years I used the kakebo system to budget but most days I forgot to write down the little expenses and I change to an Excel sheet that I can update in my phone.
kotokoo I do have an Excel Sheet that I keep on my phone too and update at every purchase. I always have my phone with me and everytime I write a purchase, I instantly see how much I have left. Its really easy 👌🏻 I’ve had it for several months now and its been eye opening. Small purchases add up SO FAST !
I’m Italian and for us is the same, BUT many banks are starting to offer online - just online, no physical assistance whatsoever - accounts, with no expenses.
So I have one and I’m waiting: I’m sure in the next few months/ys many options will come up here in the old Europe too.

Jordan got married soon after graduating from college, so she didn't have many finances to combine. I've seen some good tips for combining finances from Suze Orman., though.
My favorite tip is #4 use a budget planner. I'm a visual learner and being able to see all my money in one place helps me to set goals and see what I have achieved and what needs work. And who doesn't love a cute planner
I personally love cash and envelopes but I am a visual person. I want to see it and hold it in my hand. We also have a very small income for a family of 3. And not much extra cash and every dollar is going to pay off our small amount of debt... I just started our cash system and have been able to save over 200 in 1 month when we used to have to take out a small loan to make it to pay day.... I would like to get to a place we can just use cards but not now.
I love the last tip! Adding spending money is so important because it gives you motivation to keep going and not feeling like you can treat yourself or do fun things with family and friends.

Honestly, my favorite too is to simplify. I have been following you for a long time, but I have always struggled with that because I felt like if I break it down so specific, it limits me from over spending. After watching this video when you first posted it, I finally gave it a try. And so far, I LOVE it! I love that if I am frugal enough in my main and other budgets, I can do more with it. Which made my husband need a budget for himself too. So we divided responsibilities, which we also haven't done before. I am excited about our budget again. And it's been a while since I've felt that. Thank you!
Fetch isn’t in Canada. I used to use the rewards apps and stopped. Shopping is not a big thing for us. We rarely buy on amazon. The 7 bank accounts...I’m working on my husband to get a second account. It fully has to be a agreement for both of us to do it. I’ve showed him the videos too.

Jordan, this is the biggest fight that my parents have. Like you my mother just can’t get along with money like my father can. He (and he brothers included) biggest pet peeve is using a credit card or the store card to pay for gas worse then that even the 3 cents off on Kroger gas. He even saying if you can’t pay the gas in cash you shouldn’t be driving at all.

In my 20's, my then husband and I had one credit card we used only for gas. We paid it off every month and it helped us build a good credit history as well as budget and know exactly where our money went. He was reluctant at first, but eventually admitted it was a good idea and great help. I do recommend it, especially for younger folks who don't have much of a credit history yet. Just be sure it gets paid in full every month.
My favorite tip is make things simple! Make the budget per week! My husband gets paid once a month so it’s hard to not spend the grocery budget in the first 2 weeks. I love the idea of every week you have a specific amount. I use Smiths for my groceries and I love their “buy 5 save 5 deals. And I find stickers for meats that are buy 1 get 1 free and meats that are near the sell buy dates. Those are my favorite finds. I also use their digital coupons too! It’s my high when I click the “pay now” button and watch the total go down and down! So the best tip I got was break down your grocery budget each week to a specific amount so you never go over. Makes so much sense!!! Love it!!!

I put stuff in my cart and (unless it’s something vital) let it sit a few days. If you have to buy something vital in the meantime, go to your cart and just click on Save For Later then make your purchase. It’s amazing to me how often I will go to buy a necessity only to see stuff I thought I HAD to have just sitting in my cart. At that point I either just remove it or “save for later.” It’s also handy for things you like but think you wouldn’t hesitate if only it were a couple of dollars cheaper. You’ll see a notification if something in “save for later” has a price change and sometimes the price will drop to a place that feels more reasonable. You can also click to be notified if an item goes on sale as a today’s deal or lightning deal. Yeah, I spend a lot of time on Amazon... Oh! If you’re responsible with credit cards, get the Amazon card that only lets you charge on Amazon (not the visa or whatever). You’ll earn cash back in every purchase and you can choose how to get your rewards. I have mine set so when I want to make a purchase, I’m offered the chance to use my accumulated awards to reduce the price. So if I’m on the fence, it might make a difference. I used to have it set so it was just applied to reduce my balance every month. If you don’t like the idea of another credit card, set it up to offer you the chance to apply rewards to purchases and, as soon as you complete the transaction, make a payment from whatever account you’d rather use.
I can't wait to open my 7 bank accounts. It just makes so much sense to me. Makes keeping track of what you're saving for what so much easier to organize. 2 down, 5 more to go!
Unfortunately, nothing is for free. You pay with your personal data to Fetch. They will know what you buy, where you buy it and sell this information to vendors.

What’s funny, is that I already do most of this and have since my 12 yr old was a baby - including the multiple bank accounts. I just do a spreadsheet instead of writing on envelopes. I made it up on my own and I love it. Dave Ramsey has good tips but his budget / cash system doesn’t work for me. This method does work for me. This is much more reasonable and doable.

Simplify your budget has got to be the best advice on this video. I’ve tried a multiple envelope system before kids and it was crazy! 🤪 I cannot imagine doing it now with my two children and all their needs and wants.

Definitely my favorite tip is "the envelope system." (And also the "give yourself some allowance to spend") bit seriously, I found that not only I keep better track of my expenses when I see the recipe, but also I noticed that sometimes stores and restaurants will charge you wrong!
I have to have separate envelopes for clothes, car repairs, gifts... otherwise I'd spend all the money on food.
Love your simplify tips and writing it down in a budget planner! Also, I love that you plug your products, but don’t insist it’s the only way to make it work. I don’t feel like I have to buy your products to make this work. Thanks for such good, free, encouraging content!
