I started watching your budgeting videos back in January when I thought we were going to lose our house. Thanks to you and your ideas we now are caught up on all our bills and have almost gotten out of debt..even thru a pandemic!! Thank you so much for everything you do!!
Just started living on my own, so your tips on saving everything are amazing. Food, shelving, banking!! All of this adds up sooo much to my life, thanks!!! Even when I don’t have kids I am beginning to save up on me and my dog!
Hey! That's coming up for me too! It'll be just me and my cat. My kids are grown and moving out. I'm looking forward to just doing Me!😍 These tips are so helpful! 💓 Good luck to you and your dog💓
You are the ninja of all mom ninjas🙌 this literally popped into my feed at the right time. I literally jumped up and down when you said you were coming out with a cook book, oh mama I cant wait!
I have been making freezer meals for after I have my baby( I’m due in 5 weeks with baby #2) and I have enough meals to last the first 2-3 months of supper! So helpful for postpartum!
I was raised this way. Shopping for EVERYTHING ON SALE when possible, then prepping/storing/cooking for now and later. It works SO well for families of ANY size. I used to do it when living alone and didn't know how to cook "small". I had meals for months! I shared. LOL! We also season some of what we freeze. It makes for that much less to do and the meal tastes GREAT!
Thank for the tips Jordan!!!! One thing I have found super helpful when freezing ground beef is to spread it out flat and thin in the bag after you get the air out, this makes thawing time go much faster! 😉😁
I do the same thing, taking meat out of the packaging and freezing it in ziploc freezer bags. I also label and date them, and you’re correct!! Labeling and dating has been a life saver! I prefer to trim the fat and pre season before storing.
Money saving freezer bag tip: If you have lots of small portions of meat (I like to do taco meat in 1lb portions), use sandwich baggies to separate portions, and then toss ALL of your sandwich baggies into ONE gallon freezer bag.
I do this too! For burgers, broth, ravioli/tortellini, shrimp, scallops, crab - anything really that I might want to pull by servings. When doing this, I still put the quantity of servings on the baggies but also the weight of each serving and the calories for each serving
Love love love! And can you keep us updated on how you’ll use the meat you froze? Like what meals you intend to plan and how you can use in different ways. Always wanted to see how you apply your tips of shelfcooking for an entire weekly meal video or something similar
+StarsReminiscent absolutely nothing against Jordan but I won’t be buying her cookbook anyways sadly! I’m in the UK for first (shipping would be a pretty penny) and I NEVER use cookbooks- I don’t own a single one. BUT i love following her recipes, which is why I want to see a full “what we eat in a week” type of video and how she uses her frozen stuff!
+Lindsey Poyner yes and I love them! I’ve been keeping up with her cabin updates lately too (instant pot chicken, salsa verde etc) but what I always wanted to see from her and what she’s never done is a full week of recipes/meals for her family. Just because she shares her grocery haul for the week or however long and meal planning but we only see meals on specific days (or freezer meals), but not how the groceries turn into meals she cooks, if that makes sense. I really hope she does one (or something similar) soon.
Lily Garner check out her recent meal planning video because it covers a lot of what you’re asking for! she goes into her fridge and pulls out everything and talks about how she’ll use them all for the week
My husband and I rewatched this video!! And I got him to help me with the budget and us your tips!! He even posted on Snapchat about how he did his meat in different bags! 😍😍 Thanks Jordan!
I love your channel. The tips you give are so practical and workable. But most of all, I look forward to sharing the joy and love in your family. My kids are all grown and I so miss the days of chaos, cooking and fellowship. It’s really hard sometimes to be alone in a house without children. Cherish this time (and I know you do) dearly bc one day it will have flown by. Thank you for being such an inspiring, kind, positive energy on social media.
Love this!!! I've been following for almost 2 years now, I've learned so much from you, saved my family hundreds at this point, I have almost a complete 3 month food storage, and I'll be working on a year supply. Thank you, thank you!!! And yes, more shelf cooking videos please!!!
I LOVE this video, practical kitchen wisdom. I’m a big fan of stocking up on meats in this way. I have an old deep freezer that refuses to die and I’m so grateful. That thing has served us WELL! I keep a stockpile of various sizes of freezer bags too. While my hubby was in the hospital I had my niece come by and help me cook up 10 lbs of ground turkey to freeze. It is so great to just grab what you need for a quick dinner! 😊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😊
Jordan I pray to God that I will one day be able to meet you and hug you! You and your family have inspired me from the beginning of my family and all of your tips work! You are literally like the mother I needed! Sending much love and blessings! ❤️
Not the first Not the last but When mama J posts I come fast! P.S. this has popped up at a great time for me, work is about to slow down so my bank account will be tightening its belt. 😅
Love. Love. Love. We separate and freeze our meats the same way. I don't know any other way, but this way! I learned some really good tips from this video. Now I'm in the mood to cook!!! AWESOME RIBS! I just love the endearing look Bubba gave you at the end of the Video, when you told him the ribs cost only $5.00. He's so proud of his Mamma Bear!!! 😍😘🥰
I'm so glad she made this vid. I do all these things already, but I do take a day or two out each month to cook meals/side dishes ahead and vacuum seal them. Later all I have to do is pull things out of the fridge and pop in the microwave. Or if I'm already cooking something I make a large amount to vacuum seal for later. People look at me like I'm crazy, but if they only knew how much time it saves. Plus, no matter what we want for dinner it's already ready. So if we want something different each I don't have to cook separate meals!
I've implemented your 100 per person, per month. Saves a ton of money! It's almost like a game of how much of that money I can keep in my pocket! Thanks💜
I spend waaaaay too much on groceries 😭😭 but we live in Alaska where food prices are high. And I have two children with very opposite food allergies and have to prepare 2-3 meals every mealtime. I’ve tried to cut down and budget better for groceries but I can’t seem to cut down nearly as much as I want to. I’m guilty of not cooking what I have on hand at times, however.
I so enjoy your videos. I have always tried to save money on everything, not just food. but everything I buy. Started using your tip about the dollar store for make up, that alone has saved me a bundle.
Love these videos! As there's only two of us, I've found that we usually end up needing to stock up on meat about once a month and as we're in the big super market I usually get the big blocks of cheese/misc long shelf items and the canned stuff (25p for chopped tomatoes? Yes pls) I've started having my boyfriend come with me to help lug everything home (we're like a 10/15 minute walk from the shops but with groceries it's like 20 - 30!) And he's learnt all the basics mentioned here and graduated to planning the meals this week and I'm super proud of him! :) He usually does the cooking bc he's a lot better at it than me but having him plan it - so many more ideas for recipes! Like obv we have the "what do you want to eat this week?" Convo and there's usually a spag bol or chilli every week bc they're easy and we always have the stuff in but he's out here throwing in some meatballs and tacos and pies and I'm like 😍 variety 😍 but also I think he might be trying to impress me and tbh I'm HERE for it 💕
That's *so weird!* Lol! I was *just* thinking about budgeting stuff for my deep freezer, in preparation for the winter months and your video popped up in my news feed! Lol! 😁👍💓
My planner just arrived (I’m in the UK) - and I can’t tell you how much I am keen to now get started with shelftember and blocking my day out! Another brilliant video Jordan xx
This works great for people who live alone too! I check for family packs/large cuts of meat on sale and then vacuum seal them in smaller amounts. I was able to get a 12lb brisket originally $80 for only $30, I cut it into 1lb chunks which last multiple days each
Working solo mum of three here. Buying in bulk on sale and freezing is a life saver! Saves $ and more importantly for me, saves time. I buy meat on special, divide into portions and freeze it. I also buy veges on special, chop, blanche and freeze those too. Then one every 6 weeks or so, I take a weekend afternoon and cook in bulk. Meat, sauce, and veges. Simple food I know the kids will eat, like nacho mix or spaghetti/Italian mix etc. Then I freeze the meals in portions. So on an ordinary weeknight, when I've worked all day and it's 6pm and I need dinner on the table now. I just have to cook some carbs (microwave jacket potatoes, rice, nacho chips, mashed potatoes etc), and quickly thaw a frozen meal in the microwave. It's cheaper coz I buy in bulk on sale, and saves time in the long run. Plus I know we're eating good home cooked food, but it only takes me 15-20 minutes to get a hot meal on the table. #winning
You have 8 kids and I only have 1 and I look wayyy more of a mess 😂😂 love the videos they help me so much as a first time mom and first time home owner on a budget!! My husband thinks I’m a nut for religiously taking notes during your videos but I know he loves when I’m able to save us money 😌 love you and your family!!💗💗
Stair slides for the win! Everlasting entertainment! I'm always amazed on how you stretch out the meat in your meals Jordan. Looking forward to the cookbook!
You have help me and my family save so much money on my groceries. I used to go shopping like every 2 weeks and would spend close to $200-300 every time and to just end up throwing away half of the stuff because it would go bad before we coulr get to it, but now I meal plan and just buy what I need. Thank you so much.
Two weeks ago my grocery store had a flat of 15lbs of different cuts/types for $38 dollars. They had different boxes for different cooking styles like crockpot and grilling. It’s helped a lot with our own shelf cooking experiment! I also tend to get two of things when I buy them, but I’m definitely going to try the three at once! And I’m super looking forward to your cookbook!
It is a good thing you are teaching! I have a freezer full of meat that I buy on sale and it last for years. I have a ham I bought after thanksgiving and it was so cheap! I made two whole chicken to bring to a family today because their mom was sick. I was so glad to have a stock of chicken!
Great time for this video! Our business is seasonal so tightening the belt and stocking up for the winter months. Thanks for all your wonderful and energetic videos. You Rock!!!
Great tips! Esp the advice to stock up little by little each trip. I’ve been trying to find a used or cheap freezer for a couple of years but everyone definitely jacked their prices up this year! Should’ve bit the bullet sooner! ... I’d love to see your pork recipes; I didn’t grow up eating it and am only now learning how to cook it well.
These videos really help me to budget my money and your videos have handy tricks when cooking and storing freezer items. I’m not always the best at remembering to put meat in the freezer.
Would love more videos like this! Especially about allll things freezing, not just meat! And the do's and don't's, what to cook before or not, and more!
Hi Jordan!! I love your content :) I was recently diagnosed with MS and have to now adjust my diet to contain more plant based and organic foods. Do you have any plans to cover budgeting with more expensive food items?
Great tips! At our local grocery they price meat, and sometimes cheeses and other perishables, that are getting close to the sell by date at $19.99 for 5 packages! I've gotten, roasts, steaks, pork chops etc but, as you pointed out, Check the original price too. In order to eliminate freezer burn I also wrap meat I'm freezing for a longish time in white freezer paper. It's just like what the butcher uses at our butcher shop. It comes in a roll (like aluminum foil etc) and Walmart sells it. Since I don't wrap as well as a butcher, I place my meat first in plastic zipper bags, squeeze out as much air as possible and wrap, tape and label it. It's saved me a lot of money by not ruining meat with freezer burn.
I been toying with the idea of getting a vacuum sealer but I didn’t know how I would go about packaging all the meat.... perfect timing on this video!!!!!
This video is the video that made me subscribe right away! Turned on all notifications and everything! I had to rewatch with a notepad lol ok so on to the rest of the videos for optimal tip gathering! Thanks for sharing with us!
Love the content. Just a friendly suggestion: it might be worth changing up your intro. I think it could be a fun chance to have it represent new aspects of your channel
Yes I have thought that too. Or a lot of RUclipsrs that I’ve been watching for a while, don’t even do their intro thing anymore they just start out with an intro of what that video is about and then dive into it. I really like that approach even better.
Awesome Jordan, I pretty much freeze my meats that way but like idea of checking out the yellow tags and I like how you cooked the ground beef & separated them for stocking the baggies. Thanks for the tips! I always leave with a least one tip I may not have thought about.
We are a family of 9 and you have helped me so so so much! I love seeing what I can do on what we have or what I can save. Thank you so so much💕 and you look beautiful!!
shelf cooking, I love that!! I have always done it that way with rare exceptions being a holiday meal just because we were a military family when we started out and dirt poor. we still generally eat around the current sales at the grocery store and I've learned to make something edible out of what we have on hand. Oh and love your shirt, its so cute!!
I'm amazed at how quiet and well-behaved her 8 children are when she looks beautiful doing all of this! I did invest in food grade silicone bags because I'm afraid of all the plastic we already eat with how our food comes. I did this last week and it worked out great - as in cooked and separated meat to freeze. Very helpful idea.
Yeah I was wondering what your kids were doing all that time 🤣 I love the tip of half the budget towards food storage and half toward fresh weekly foods, that's a helpful guideline. I'll have to try it!
Great video... I do a lot of these, but have never thought about actually cooking the ground beef and freezing it. I will have to try that. Ground beef was about the only meat that I don’t freeze because I don’t like how it looks when it thaws and it looks different when it’s cooked so I’ll try cooking it and then freezing. Great video.
Yes, more of these videos. Also, are you so-called "prepping" during this pandemic? If so, could you please consider doing a video on that. Thank you!!!
See I grew up in a family that could not keep a budget and I am getting ready to get out on my own and I want to do better for my family so your videos are a huge help
TIP!!!! If you do not own a vacuum sealer simply fill the sink with water and dip the half close zip-lock bagged item into the water being very careful to keep the open end above the water. The water pressure will push the air out and you can seal/zip it before lifting it out of the water. Make sure you dry the outside of the bags and mark them before putting into freezer so you don't created ice to stick the bags together!!!
Watched a Netflix documentary this week called "What the health". I can not go back to eating meat. It saddens me because I just stocked up at Costco last week on meat and dairy. Will see how it goes... But such good tips on bulk buy Jordan. Keep them coming.
Paula A. I would eat, or give siblings/family, all your meat or dairy if you won’t eat them. If that’s not an option, then use what you just bought, then change to your new cooking style later.
I agree. The way meat is processed is disgusting and it upsets me so many people just buy it anyway. We need to support local and ethical if we are going to eat meat. Money talks. we as consumers have the power to change things.
@@paulaa.6833 If you feel that strongly, don't force ("I will make") your husband to do something you won't do. That's wrong! If you don't want to use it, donate it to someone who can choose for themselves, as well. If you feel that strongly, the value of the meat is not important. Give it away.
I am going to shelf cook for the month of September also. I love this idea and now is as good a time as any to try. Also, just found out my daughter is having twin (2 girls) in February. I would love to see more content with tips I can use and pass along.
Fantastic video that is practical yet innovative with food , budget , and precious time . Love the “ buy one for now two for later.” Question: Have you tried the Walmart freezer ziplocks ? I agree with quality ziplocks & it was just shared with me Walmart’s are good quality as well.
Hi, thanks for this great video. Love it. You can fill up your sink with water then put the zip bag in upwards so that the air comes out upside. You can close the zip now. But the bag out of the water and all of the air is nearly out of your bag
I started watching your budgeting videos back in January when I thought we were going to lose our house. Thanks to you and your ideas we now are caught up on all our bills and have almost gotten out of debt..even thru a pandemic!! Thank you so much for everything you do!!
Kudos to you!!!!
check out Dave Ramsey, he is a guru in money management has an awesome program that is free, Just as an extra resource.
I just don't understand how-to know how long you can freeze thjngs . Especially homemade foods because they have no preservatives in them?
Congratulations❣️
Love to see women WINNING!!
I LOVE that you're normalizing meats on sale! These can be an incredible resource for families... and such an awesome addition to a freezer stash!
Just started living on my own, so your tips on saving everything are amazing. Food, shelving, banking!! All of this adds up sooo much to my life, thanks!!!
Even when I don’t have kids I am beginning to save up on me and my dog!
Nice! 😊👍💓
A pro tip from my husband who is a chef is to rinse fish that smells "fishy" in cold water. It will freshen the fish meat and give it a milder flavor.
So true!
Thanks for this tip!
Ooooh , say thanks to your husband for me 🙂😗
I have been making freezer meals for after I have my baby( I’m due in 5 weeks with baby #2) and I have enough meals to last the first 2-3 months of supper! So helpful for postpartum!
Congrats, Mama!
You are so smart! You'll be thanking yourself later, when you're tired 🙂
Dang you’re on it! I’m due October 14th and haven’t made our freezer meals yet 🙈 but I’m gonna start 9/20 😊 and watched this too for tips 😁

She is amazing. Has helped so many families
I always add where I get it (Costco, Smith's, Walmart, etc). Because then if there's a recall, I can know if I have any of that recalled meat.
Looking forward to shelftember! I love getting ideas from other people.

I just started doing this! I use plastic wrap and one freezer bag for multiple portions! Great tip!!
Oooo upvoting this one. I don't think Jordan saw this comment, but it's right up her alley. Too bad.

So glad it has helped you!
Two hundred a month is too little though. At least for us
David Bown i think she used to say "starting at $300", so a single person would be $300 and a couple would be $400

It is a good thing you are teaching! I have a freezer full of meat that I buy on sale and it last for years. I have a ham I bought after thanksgiving and it was so cheap! I made two whole chicken to bring to a family today because their mom was sick. I was so glad to have a stock of chicken!
Since finding your channel I’ve gained financial stability and built a great stockpile... amazing!! I adore you
Love budgeting! My family of 4 is like 200 every 2 weeks
I love stock up!!!! Your videos is awesome you are a true blessing
Great time for this video! Our business is seasonal so tightening the belt and stocking up for the winter months. Thanks for all your wonderful and energetic videos. You Rock!!!
Jordan you do an amazing job as a mom and a wife - I learn so much from you, thanks.
Love the cabin !!! Thanks for filming the side by side ride!! It was nice to see the property.
Love everything that you do from family guidance to saving every penny and making it count!!! Keep doing what you do!! Your family is adorable!!
These videos really help me to budget my money and your videos have handy tricks when cooking and storing freezer items. I’m not always the best at remembering to put meat in the freezer.
Kids. Kids everywhere! Looks like my house. I love it so much when they’re going want to be right by mama. So sweet!
Love the cooking and shopping videos. We are a family of 8 and I love getting all these tips and tricks and great ideas for meals.
Would love more videos like this! Especially about allll things freezing, not just meat! And the do's and don't's, what to cook before or not, and more!
I ❤️ when you do cooking/food related videos! Keep them coming.
Large family shopping here as well. That being said,
Your grocery hauls are my favorite!! 😬
Glad you like this one!
Hi Jordan!! I love your content :)
I was recently diagnosed with MS and have to now adjust my diet to contain more plant based and organic foods. Do you have any plans to cover budgeting with more expensive food items?
What a wonderful video! Thank you so much! And I love how silly you were in the beginning about your hair. Lol put a smile on my face. 😊
I didn't even know such thing exist 😑Thank you, now I want to buy and use one
Me too
I been toying with the idea of getting a vacuum sealer but I didn’t know how I would go about packaging all the meat.... perfect timing on this video!!!!!
This video is the video that made me subscribe right away! Turned on all notifications and everything! I had to rewatch with a notepad lol ok so on to the rest of the videos for optimal tip gathering! Thanks for sharing with us!
Me and my husband were just talking about how we should stock up on meat! Thank you for this❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love the content.
I always skip the intro video's. I did read somewhere that they should be maximum of 10 seconds or else people find them annoying
If it wasn’t for the intro I wouldn’t have known she’s an important gal.
I am for sure would love to see more. For sure with Selftember.
Def love these types of videos!
Please post more videos like this! Love saving money on groceries!
Thank you so much for the tips! You look exceptional in green! Love from KCMO
Sidenote...your nails are Super CUTE! 😍 💅
Awww thank you!
Jordan Page, FunCheapOrFree yes I’m always loving your nails!! What are they, acrylics? How do you get them done? I need a manicure video from you!! 💅
shelf cooking, I love that!!
Love all your videos!! Specially this one about stocking food !! - please more videos 🙋🏻♀️💜
loved this Video Lots of good tips! And your babies are precious! Love the good morning videos and they are getting so big.
Yes, more of these videos. Also, are you so-called "prepping" during this pandemic? If so, could you please consider doing a video on that. Thank you!!!
StarsReminiscent Thank you. I will search for it.
StarsReminiscent - They are the best aren’t they
See I grew up in a family that could not keep a budget and I am getting ready to get out on my own and I want to do better for my family so your videos are a huge help
I would love to see your Traeger smoker or grill recipes and how you cook the meat! Traeger’s are awesome
We have one recipe here shelfcooking.com/traeger-whole-chicken/
I use the reusable freezer bags .. game changer! Love your videos
Do youmind sharing what you put on your ribs? They look amazing! Thanks for all the freezing tips!
I freaking love you!!!!!! Women crush all week long. I only have two kids but you give me motivation! Love all your videos!
From Dubai and loving you. Totally saved a lot ❤️❤️. Awesome videos. Trying shelftember this week at least.
I love this!
You always look great and put together! I love the green blouse on you!
Oh, it’s a dress, so pretty!
Loved this video, I have not ever known about the discounted meat, so thanks for the tip!
@@constitutionalrepublic1966 I will make my husband eat it. Can't waste food!
First video I've personally seen on how your save on meat. Thank you for sharing.
I love this. Please show more videos of the Traeger ideas of meats and sides too!!!
Do you ever do any videos geared towards plant based/vegan/vegetarian meal prep and storage? Just curious
What a waste of all the bags
Thank you so much for the good tips I definitely will follow some of them and adapt them to our family's needs God bless and good energy
Hi, thanks for this great video. Love it.
You can fill up your sink with water then put the zip bag in upwards so that the air comes out upside. You can close the zip now. But the bag out of the water and all of the air is nearly out of your bag
Thanks for tips and shelf shopping and stocking up.
So useful! Thank you for all the good info. You are such a good teacher!
Shelve cooking that’s to kool that’s what I have been up to lately! Canning/bottling and re stocking the cold storage!
