Great podcast. I've been "shelf cooking" before even I knew it had a name. I can truly testify that it will save you money, have less food waste & makes you be creative with your recipes based on what you have on hand.
I failed at time blocking when I tried her method, I was never great at remembering my timetable at school either I had a friend memorise my timetable and tell me where I needed to be. I've sort of simplified it down to a natural routine (trying to remember to eat at the same times) and having a task done before and after lunch and a white board monthly calendar with deadlines so I don't forget to do things or appointments. Shelf cooking is a no brainer but for some reason I can go to a supermarket and know exactly what food I have at home, I can't remember what I walked into a room for but I know exactly how much pasta is in my pantry 🤷🏼♀️ brains are odd.
Time blocking doesn’t work for me either. I make sure I get to appointments but other than that I have a main task for each day and do everyday tasks everyday, when I have time.
I use Google Calendar for time blocking and put a loot of reminders😅 Thus I do not actually need to remember my schedule, my phone remembers it for me.
This is great! I love the idea of time blocking tasks ala school routine. We almost all have 12 years of experience doing that. Since retiring I am like a floating leaf, & doing block planning seems great. Love shop st home first idea. & I have food filling corners too. Time to clean out, use up!
I didn't know you were going to talk about kitchens and food waste, but I cleaned out my refrigerator while you were talking. I didn't throw out very much. I cook for one, so I buy pantry and freezable foods, then will add fresh things as I need them. My daughter makes a tortellini soup that has fresh spinach in it. I'll make it tomorrow and buy the bag of spinach on the way home tonight. I'll use half the bag in the soup and the other half in my salad.
The only situation I shop exact ingredients for a meal is when I host a celebration 🤷🏻♀️ And even in this case a lot of ingredients are used in several dishes and can be used also later.
Jordan’s shelf cooking would make a great app or webpage that you enter what you have and it generates possible recipes for different meal times. Either way great job and I look forward to reading her book.
I’ve used a lot of Jordan’s tips. I would suggest only stock piling things you use regularly not just cuz it’s a good sale. Make it a challenge to only grocery shop once or twice a month.
Posting a liston the fridge of "Dinner Ideas with what we have" and "What to Eat" for the kids, has changed my life lately. The kids ask what there is to eat, and I tell them to look at the list. I use a mechanical pencil so I can erase stuff and add things as I think of it.
I love Jordan, I have bought both ther bootcamps but for the life of me I can’t implement the block system ! I have ADD and I can’t have routines, I don’t know how she does this, I guess we don’t have the same traits.
TLDR: budget and productivity goals. "Shelf cooking" - meal plan with ingredients you have, like our grandparents did. (Jordan also has tonnes of info on how best to freeze/store everything, AND how to substitute ingredients). Schedule blocking - like a school timetable, focus on one thing at a time. I also love batch cooking, and errand batching (1 trip to town instead of 5).
It's also funny she actually paid off her debt almost exactly the way he teaches, lol. She was too focused on what he considers the end goal instead of understanding the beginning of the process.
I implemented Jordan’s time blocking to increase my productivity. I love that I get to have, what I call “recess” 😂

I absolutely loved this interview! I will definitely be purchasing Jordan’s book and checking out her meal plans.😊
What a great guest! I'm going to shop my pantry this week & see what I can make. Thank you both.

Yay two of my favorite RUclipsrs
Yes have Clutter Bug do a video at the Page place!

I really miss Jordan’s RUclips channel. Very interested in her book.

Thank you so much!!!!!! I love you both!!!!!!!
Love from Ania from Poland
So good! Thank you both! 🙏🏻💕
I feel like I should have taken notes. 😆 I already shop my shelves, but the time blocking might be something I look into more. 😁
Jordan Page! ❤
Productivity falls into the GETMO catagory. Good Enough To Move On!!
Jordan, your audio is a little choppy but very good session.
I just chose not to go to the store or buy groceries as often. Then you have to find substitutions or cook from what you have.
Tbh I’m skeptical of Mormon influencers because many of them are shady, but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt xx
Her view of time blocking from school days is way different than my experience in school.
Adderal is probably how she is so productive for her ADHD! 😂
Would come back if you could fix the audio... sorry!
❤
I wanted to watch this interview, but her audio is so bad I had to bail.

Same!
0@@HannahRainbow88 😊😅😊😮
She still doesn’t know what an IRA is??? I don’t believe that.
❤ Clutterbug I love your channel but I can't watch this. Jordan has done some inappropriate things with her children on social media 🙁 sorry.
Oh, I miss Jordan.
Gee I wonder who the old white man she’s talking about it. I happen to respect Dave Ramsey though.

Jordan's audio is really difficult to hear. I always!!!! Love your videos/podcast but I'm gonna bail on this one. Very frustrating
