This is one beautiful jam session without a doubt. My favorite jazz group of all time. The drummer was off the chain. R.I.P Mr. Joe Sample and Wilton Felder.
I am 75 now. 65? years in music education and performance. Started with my first song age 8. Mostly Jazz. Hard to see all these important people in my life fading away. I have the same butt cushion and it is hard to stand any more. Lucky me I still can sing and play. Enjoying every minute!!
Such an archetypical sound and artistic sense. Simplicity that talks of the most complicated of musical ideas. All leading to an experience that is immediate and translucent. I'll meet you the next time around.
The crusaders, I first heard them in 1966,( scratch, doing that thing) these guy came out of houston 5th ward with neighbors like the laws family ( Hubert, ronnie and eloise) my favorite although they all are. Carmel ...is creme de la creme.
"Scratch" was an excellent album! As a matter of fact, it contained my favorite live version of "Way Back Home" until I saw this video: ruclips.net/video/4mlqlQKJS1o/видео.html

What a great live sound!! When you close your eyes you think you are sitting directly in front of stage.
So sad that I never saw Joe Sample live.

Joe Sample had the smoothest, silkiest touch on a piano of anybody that ever played the piano
These were a bunch of guys who were true to themselves musically. I miss them.

José Benedito de Pouso Alegre/Mg the Cruzaders e fantástico..
I have a Crusaders album on record from the 70s called scratch and it includes a live version of Eleanor Rigby on it.
This Live version from The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach from 1968 is excellent
