It's not actually a blues, in terms of structure, but a modal piece with a very strong blues feeling. The first 8-bar section in F minor 7 makes us think so: within each bar there is a sort of I-IV-V-IV-I movement that suggests it. The rest is created by the sound and the great swing of the musicians. (A bit like "So What" by Miles Davis: it's no coincidence that the album was titled "KIND of Blue")

Freddie Hubbard produces such a fat sound on his trumpet. With Miles Davis and Lee Morgan, Hubbard is one of the greatest trumpeters of the bebop generation. I want to make this my alarm clock. Wake up to to this jam every morning. As soon as I hear Freddie Hubbard playing those high notes I'll know it's time to wake up!!

This is beyond greatness , an incredible ensemble that was on fire that night. Led by the genius Herbie Hancock.
When they play at the Blue Note, they play as to be at home, they grew up there, it's nice to se how confortable they are playing... this is an amazing performance. I had the fortune to go there and listen to Lionel Hampton, was unforgettable.
Perfection never goes out of style. This performance is dripping in style and performance!
