They could have recorded a hundred albums of original material and I would have ‘em all. If Herbie had used them as his group for all or the eighties and nineties (until Henderson passed) it would have been ideal IMHO.

……the winds, they are so warm, you wear just a smile.
You eat and you love and laugh all the while.
      But beware the happiness!
You will get lost in loneliness.
The mist from the sea will hide you away.
The game that you play will turn night to day.
You´ll be gone for sure, my friend!
What a foxy way to end!

This piece just has such an incredibly timeless and really moody riff. I just love it. And there's always such an incredible lightness to the freestyling that totally kills it. It's really hard to not be blown away by it :D ALWAYS puts a big smile on my face.

The Bass line for this song calls for a vamp, nothing more.If you cannot hear Ron Carter's tone, dynamics and phrasing, if it all sounds the same to you, you need a better speakers. Do check out some of Mr Carter's work with Mcoy Tyner, your opinion will change. BTW, there is a 1990 live version of this tune on RUclips featuring Pat Metheney, Jack De Johnette and Dave Holland. Dave mostly vamps through that one also. And Dave Holland is no"normie"
