  • This video shows a technique which, when practiced, can help you the artist to master drawing any pose of the standing figure. The centre line will help you to achieve balance. With the knowledge of anatomy and proportion of the human figure we can achieve natural poses without the need for photo reference

Its so nice hearing Australian voices in RUclips. Thank you for your instructional videos, I do still struggle with proportions but I am getting better with it. I down loaded a number of Andrew Loomis books from the guttenburge project they're free and are very good I refer to them regularly. I'm a visual learn mostly so your videos have help and so has Andrew Loomis. Cheers from Tasmania!

Hi, Thank you for subscribing and for your comment. I have most of Andrew Loomis books they are excellent. I'd like to recommend a really good website I've put a link in the description of this video. It's James Gurney. His Blog is full of outstanding info. Cheers from Tokyo. I Often watch Gardening Australia the Tasmanian presenter, Molly is great. Ah I'm feeling homesick.

@@michaelcoxontokyo oh yes I like James gurney I've watched his videos too. Thank you for a reply, I'm sorry if my message made you feel home sick, I like our Tasmanian garden presenter also the ABC gardening is just a really good all rounder program. What I miss from the mainland is the magpie call, there is no magpies in my part of Tassy, but I do have friendly Tasmanian black currawongs. Stay well, happy and safe. Cheers from Tassy!

No, that's ok It's nice to feel a bit homesick sometimes. It reminds me of all the great things about Australia. I spent years studying the Australian impressionists. They are truly wonderful painters the way they captured the Australian landscape is perfect. Didn't know that about magpies. Cheers.@@howlingwind1937

@@michaelcoxontokyo that's good then, you must like where you're living, have you lived in Tokyo for a long time? When I was younger I found this artist (not living) called Salle Hermen I can't remember if I've spelt it right, anyway, he came to Australia from Spain and loved Australia, I think I'm remember correctly, and did a lot of paintings of outback towns and also around the inner suburbs of Sydney like Newtown and Redfern. He's not really known of that well, but I really like the expressive way he has captured the characters and the ambience of the places that were his muse, he might be of interest, I've not really seen anything similar to his style, but you can find him if you google him. Cheers from Tassy!

Sorry for he late reply Ayaan. Thank you for your comment. Learning anatomy is a very good decision. I will be making many videos about anatomy and the many techniques of figure drawing. I will do my best to help you.You can start now by tuning up your observation skills by looking at all of your friends as well as just people in the street Try to become super observant of how they move their proportions. This will help train your artist's eye before you even pick up a pencil.Good luck on your journey. Michael
