very nice vid
Keep it up
Now you have a new benchmark for what a quality Rc car is 👍
Right, no Chinese toy companies or oddball scales need apply.
Racing is addictive Tomley. It’s amazing how close setting the car up is to the real thing
You’ll see a huge difference to a basher
One other thing: fast isn't necessarily faster.....one wipe out and you've negated any lead you got from going faster. Getting the right line around a corner is faster than going around it quicker......
@@muskokamike127 true, i have chased speed and always ended up crashing...balance (power + steering + suspension + toe & camber )
equals WIN WIN
@@niltonganhao2051 I have NO clue who tuned me into this, go karting? car racing? I dunno but with gearing and throttle, you want to JUST hit your max speed at the point you have to start braking on the straight.
If you peak too soon? You're geared too low. If you are still accelerating? you're geared too high.
It makes sense because if you're geared too high, you won't get good acceleration out of the corners too because you'll bog down. If you're geared too low, you might get oversteer and spin out and if you have lots of grip, you'll unweight the front wheels and get understeer.
But what do I know? I couldn't make it around that track once without wiping out. I have the hand eye coordination of a turnip lol
Weight
Weight is key, you’d be surprised on how much weight you can lose with just using different items, screws, bolts for instance
A car lighter is better than a car making max weight
The kit issue items are all binned for lighter products.
Be surprised the time difference per lap and the handling
@@escos0410 oh for sure, that's why switching them all for titanium is often done.
This is why many airlines use a polished fuselage instead of a painted one: the paint adds a thousand lbs which costs thousands of gallons of fuel over the life of the plane.
That is a sweet looking bit of kit . Not really fussed who wins between you and Kev , just looking forward to 2 favourite rc channels having a damn good laugh together . P.s good luck Phil 👍
yeah, the race is the thing, not the win. It'd be even better to get a battle of the youbers! clare, raz, max, the whole lot.....
Last weekend i build my first ever kit, its a simple tamiya dt-03 but i liked the feel of building it myself so it was a really cool process
What a beautiful track I wish we had something like that nearby I would definitely get into racing if I could go somewhere
Funny thing is - racing is exactly first thing I did in the hobby. Currently looking for something to bash between the races. B6.4 is a great platform and it was a pure joy to build it.
Those buggies are nice. Hope you have a good race.
Thanks dude
Awesome Phil m8👍
If u ever want to get good at soldering take up fpv drones 😀 that's where I became good while building fpv quadcopters 😎
Wow that was impressive you really can drive when you use both hands lol can’t wait to see some racing!!!
Me & my brother did a bit of local racing back in the 80's & possibly 90's. Some outdoor grass track & indoor carpet also. The main thing I remember is the stress of a brand new shell getting trashed by some aggressive sod! And screaming "MARSHAL" to get my car righted! I don't think I was cut out for it!!!! We only ever used Tamiya's, Boomerang & Super Sabre, so were never going to be fully competitive. The Schumacher CATS of the day were absolutely amazing off road, the best drivers were incredibly respectful & ruthlessly efficient too. Good times.
All the best to you Phil, & everyone else involved!
Mate you can drive that thing! Amazing skills! Can't wait to see the race! 👌👍👊
Wow, great job, specially with the shock's. I'm gonna try it. Boombastic video 👍
Nice one Phil, drive safe and see you later :) I'm so coming last!
Well.. there is a WLtoys on the track as well, so that may not be quite as well prepared as your buggy
Race of the year for me. I can't wait to watch it. Good luck. 👍
Looks like a really nice kit, I’ve been wanting to try to build my own.
Goooooo TEAM TOMLEY 🏁🏁🏁 🏆 🏆 👊🏼😎🤙🏼💨💨💨
And it was fun! 🎉
I've been going to MB Models for years now, it's where I got my first RC car, just bought a Tamiya TT02 Porsche from them, lovely blokes, definitely check em out.
I really hope more clubs start opening from watching you and kev race, I'd love a go at this!
Awesome Video! I am rooting for ya Phil! good luck.
Thanks Dexter 🤘
The build looks so nice!!!! I'm currently building the Team associated 6.4D at the moment and it's actually my very first RC car I own too!!! It's such a nice build!!!!!
Been running Team Associated for many many moons, great product. But I have to admit the LC Racing LC12B1 and LC10B5 are fantastic pro class racers.
Lego instructions and part bags, nice!
haha
Very nice great RC and run looks like you are on the right track good luck 🤞
Pretty cool thanks for sharing, brings back memories
Brilliant, Phil! Fantastic build! 😃
That thing seems to be on tracks! Fantastic!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It was so nice to drive 👌
Seeing all of those glorious MonTec bodies piled up on that shelf made me a jealous American. I love their designs.
Nice car! Good driving and the car looks planted. I hope you and Kev have fun racing.
It's gonna be fun, whatever the result
The buggy looks awesome and ready to rumble! You have absolutely nothing to lose in this race Phil and all to gain!
A dangerous man on track that is! Watch out pack!!
Yes l know its all about the fun! Yeah right!!! But have fun and good luck!
That track is the business fast straight.
Brother, that was some wicked great driving for it being your first time on the track. No doubt you and Kevin are going to make this race awesome. I'm going to build my first rc, once it comes out I'm buying the Kyosho Dirt Master buggy kit.
Yeah, I don't know if I could get around ONCE let along with any sort of speed.
Regarding the shock filling with oil and bleeding you should put the spring retainer on the bottom before compressing to bleed because it will actually be a tiny bit less compression since it's up to 3-5 mm less that it can compress and less oil squirted out. Because obviously under use it can't compress that far .. slightly underfilled shocks just won't work quite right and sooner till they need refilling.
The instructions tell you to do it the way I did.... so I guess it's not going to make a huge difference. But I get what you are saying.
Lovely car and track there, you were driving smooth good practice session, looking forward to seeing the race for real soon, shame about blowing up ax200 quid esc, easy misake done that a couple of times myself
Looking forward to the race good luck mate
Nice car. I really like TA. And like the music at the end.
Great to see the race buggy out 🤟🏻
Fantastic lads at MB, although would say that bring from Leeds 😏 looking forward to the Race 👍
Best of luck in the big race !
A suggestion if you put your rear shocks upside down you get some insane searing. I did that to my 6.4 today at the track and it was night and day difference. It makes it to where you are able to transfer the weight in the rear end a lot quicker and lowers the cg down a bit. I am also running 35 in the front and 30 in the rear. it allows for more searing.
The car seems so well balanced! Great driving too!
Yes it is such a nice buggy
Nice to see the track, im there next weekend for the euromasters, goid luck for the race, see a few more may be going 👍 should be a few great vids out soon 😁
Lovely build great colour scheme.. looks nice for a race car 👍🤩🏅🏅
Thanks Pete
Beautiful buggy smooth as glass!
Looks spot on Phil! This race is yours, looked dialled at the end there
It's certainly dialled.... I just need to make sure I have some clean laps lol
Great job looks good
Great video my man. As always. Keep up the good work!
Thanks dude
@@TomleyRC . If you have time to get to it. Could you do some more FMS Atlas 6x6 videos? I have one I’m working on. Planning to do a Furitek conversion when I get back to workin. Just had surgery on my hand last Friday. Gives you time to make some upgrade videos if it interest you? Just a thought haha.
Anyways, I enjoy your videos and your approach to the hobby. Even being a knowledgeable seasoned veteran. Of the hobby and military. Take care and stay well.
nice! good on ya, branching out into racing. if you're not careful, it's addicting
Nice, my 3 year old son's a Kevin Talbot fan (he drives a maverick quantum, a mini z crawler and a 144002 a few times a week) We watch both of you, I will be on team Tomley & the wee man will be on team Talbot :)
Will be great fun seeing you 2 race :)
Really enjoyed seeing that go together
Hey Phil, I think in the build video I saw your ESC has a capacitor pack, if you plugged it in backwards you probably only blew the capacitors which are replaceable. It is worth trying to desolder them and trying a new set. I did the same thing to my Hobbywing Max 10 and after new capacitors it was good as new.
Yes it does, but the smoke came from the actual ESC... so not sure if that would fix it
I have actually done the exact same thing blown luckily a very cheap esc and I had a spare on the shelf ... I like you will probably be extra careful from now on to actually make sure they are plugged in the right way ...
Best of luck with the race
Wow you got some seriously good coaching there. Craig Dresher is a legend of the sport.
Omg, that car is so beautiful. I’m inlove!
Throttle and braking control is key to winning. Watch the fastest drivers line and try your best to stay on that line.
Good luck Phill 🤞
Racing rc cars was my Nascar as a kid because I couldn't afford a Kart to race in. All of my love for rc stems from that. Don't sell yourself short! Racing is one of the many great aspects of rc
Looking pretty dialled and already putting some good laps together. No shame if you lose to Kev - he has done some racing in the past and has done quite a bit recently at his local track - which he is obviously more familiar with.
Looking forward to seeing the show - have fun with it.
well the thing is, they can do a new layout at his local track, and that's what they should do: a totally new layout that KT has never driven on.
Let's be real, they will not be racing. There is no way tomley will make it to amain
Nicely done buddy. Looking good
Associated makes the best looking cars
Nicely done sir
Impressive!
Nice laps!
Smooth run 🔥
On the back strait it looks like you could add a tooth or two to the pinion. Very good acceleration in the corners, and pretty good top speed.
The race will be epic cant wait
That last shot was awesome! Corner gap!
Like the colours you used for the body.
Rooting for you Phil. It's a win win situation regardless. Good luck
Yes, it's already a win... just having the opportunity to Race a proper buggy 👌
Associated glide so well in the air nice and level, good laps mate, you should do well,
Bring on the Man Child 😉🤣
the other man child you mean? lol
The car looks great and you drove well. Ii think you will give Talbot a very good race. I have smoked an esc before. I have had to put a piece of red tape next to the positive hole on the battery.
I had to do that with my last gf lol.......
Racing is a whole other animal. Its FUN, ADDICTIVE like crazy, and can get expensive!! But the fun trumps it. If your competitive, it feeds the nature.
A well lubricated shaft is the way to go.
Brass bulkhead will help the front end stick like glue.
Great job
Quality mate!
Cars Looking good 👍🏽
That's awesome. A new element of fun in the hobbie for you. Bet you get hooked.
Wow can't belive they are your first laps . Well done . On another note make sure u lock tight vthe screws inside your shocks otherwise u will have a bad day . Good luck dude
I realy since a period of time watching every video of you and I prefer your channel ! I watch out for any New vids ! Great youtuber !! Grt Angelo from belgium
Thanks Angelo 🙏
@@TomleyRC you very welcome you deserve the credits
Can't wait to see the race.
You just might smoke him. Lol.
Definitely gotta do best of three. Lol. So nobody has excuses. Lol
Very exciting... car looks epic. John
4:07 - A little bit of O-Ring grease on the top of your shaft. LOL!!!
wow, that thing looks like it's on rails!
It was certainly an experience driving it!
6:30 NOPE! McCain quick cook fries ... Then you at the track 🤣
Really nice buggy, nice kit 👍👍👌burnt my baked beans watching this 😬😬😬🤣🤣🤣👍
MB raceway is an amazing venue!
You're racing a Professor of Motor Neuron Biology? 🤔 I reckon you could take him!
But seriously, our Kevin Talbot has got a pretty good set of thumbs - and a fair bit of racing experience. You'll need some track time to get a feel for how racing 'feels' compared blasting around freestyle.
You know how to drive - now you need to hone your race-craft. Consistency is the key. Error free laps. The faster cars often look like the slower cars - because they're making cleaner lines and less time sliding or going wide.
Getting around the track cleanly during practice when you've got the whole track to yourself is very different to when you're in a heat with 5 other cars (who all want to beast you!). Ultimately, that's the only way you hone the race-craft, while also learning the etiquette side of things too - this is important - pointless finishing first if your round is disqualified! 😂
From this video, not only will it be a contest - but your rival will likely become a new racing buddy!
MB Models is where I got my Xray XT8 and Sand Scorcher re re from - 10/10 model shop.
Kev is coming for you man !!!
Looks really good, could you do a video with a top spec/race Tamiya Top Force vs a new 4wd race buggy from the likes of team associated or Shumacher etc, would love to see how a vintage buggy fully maxed out will perform against a modern buggy in a race.
same here, never raced before and have my buggy and all too
4:33 - "Slowly up and down to get the air out ..."
Clipping that last apex in the air!
That was a pro driver...not me 😅
Haven’t Built a race kit since when I did race in 93-95.
I raced 1/10 4WD electric , I started with a used Schumacher ProCat , and bought a brand new Kyosho Lazer zx r, mk ii ,
Tekin esc, 10x2 brushed motor . With 7.2v Saddle pack Matched Sanyo SCRC, I got set up tips from other ppl and went with I felt worked for me,.
I won a season even😊
Top good work
Wow! I can't belive you have never raced! Prepare to be addicted!
cool
Springs control the stiffness. The fluid in the shock controls the rate of dampening. Thinner fluid will have less dampening but if springs still the same then it will be as stiff. Change springs first to get stiffness needed then check for rebound. If bouncy then thicken the shock fluid until there is a dampening effect and no springing about.
9th‼️🤣🤣🤣
Love that Trombone Shock‼️👍👍🦾🦾
Haha
You should have thrown the parts at the car and said BUSHIDO! and then cut to them being magically installed already 😂
Hahaha
Umm.. I think I saw someone have done it somewhere but I just can't put my finger on it.
Did this but without Bushido. Its working fine and made a short of it 😅
Why say Bushido! When you can just say BOOOOM! ABSOLUTELY EPIIIIIC!!
😆
Hey Tom this thing is sweet and moves like a squirrel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🤪🤙🏿🤙🏿 not sure how your handling that thing going so quick🫡🫵🏿 Tom smashed it 💯
Definitely liking these styles of shows
All in one🤩 like an8ball in a corner pocket😉😁😁
