When he put that D on me I would be right back under his spell. I finally moved on when he started talking about killing for not cooking his food the way he liked it. I was like h*ll nah. The fact the police didn’t immediately take it extremely seriously is absolutely mind blowing. Not only was there a 911 call where she was living but after such a tragedy you’d think they would search for the children thinking maybe the mother may have been in a mental health crisis. Just deplorable.

I’m bothered by how they basically gloss over the 911 call from the neighbor! Saying they couldn’t get the location, nor find any activity pertaining to the call???!!! The woman lived next door- she knew the address, so how is it that they weren’t able to “get” the location???
The response of the authorities is appalling. There was no reason for them not to issue amber alerts immediately! They didn’t need to think there was anyone else even involved. That was a distraught mother that had just bury her child. For the sake of those 2 little girls, that’s enough of a reason to issue an amber alert. The second they knew they were missing- their welfare needed to be made a priority, PERIOD!
This entire tragedy is infuriating to listen to. The lack of investment by the authorities in cases of people of color and people who live in low income areas, sickens me. These are people that deserve just as much from law enforcement as anyone else. If they had prioritized these 3 people’s disappearance, the way they should have, there’s a chance that the outcome would have changed drastically. And this is why it is NOT ok that this continues to occur throughout our country. Something has got to change!
While the authorities could have done more and in retrospect may have even missed an opportunity to intervene, let’s be honest: a man killed Jerica and 3 children. That man is the villain, not the police.
I’m not blaming Jerica for what happened, but it does seem that a girl gets pregnant; she may be a good mother but he’s no father. Just say no! It ain’t worth it.
She needs to sue the city for the lack of care I'm angry and I hurt with her😢

Thank you for covering this story. It’s so unbelievably how insane humans can be so cruel to each other. Darkness is always attracted to light. Every 5 hours a BW women will lose her life to a romantic partner or someone close to her. May this beautiful mom and her children rest in paradise.
I escaped a very violent, abusive relationship with only the clothes on my back, but not a dime in my pocket. The feeling of freedom and relief was so great and wonderful that day I left. I realized then, that I didn't have those feelings while with him. I knew he'd run a smear campaign against me, like he had done the women before me. I also knew he'd play the victim, and make me out to be a monster. That's how he rolled. Fear and a false sense of dependency had kept me in that situation for a long time. I realized the only thing I could depend on him for was causing me more pain, or worse my death. I wish this young lady and her children had found their way out alive.

I don’t think this is a case of a man that couldn’t “let go”. I think This is a case of a man that couldn’t handle what responsibility he had in the death of his son and took it out on the person that was holding the mirror up to him and calling him out for not doing what might have saved the baby. Weather or not, Jerika was correct in saying his inaction cost her baby his life, or if she was placing blame on him the way any parent would in the wake of such tragedy; Ivery was simply a pitiful person that’s guilt over one tragedy lead him to commit this atrocity. This was not a man, this was ego in the shape of a man, too cowardice to blame himself for anything so instead he took his feelings out on a mourning mother and 2 baby girls that had their whole lives ahead of them. I hope he spends every second of the rest of his life being reminded of what a POS he is😡

I worked with her biological dad. I was a staff at a facility he was in. We talked EVERYDAY about his daughters. Especially her. He said all his kids never liked him and she was the ONLY one who accepted his being absence over the years. Y'all when i tell y'all he went through it EVERYDAY! I felt sooo bad for him.
No need to feel sorry for her dad. He was an absent parent , who probably had kids by different women, and picked and chose which kids to highlight based on his sex life with the women.

This is one of the saddest stories I have heard about. God be with the family and bless them. This Mother/ Grandmother seems to be one of the strongest and beautiful women. I pray for her to carry on in the mist of such tragedy.

Let's be real, if this was a beautiful white mother & her two beautiful daughters the response would have been a million times more severe.. It would have absolutely made national news, International news even, from day 1. Every American would have known her face just like Gabby Petito or Laci Peterson, the list goes on and on.

I live near a few schls so I regularly see kids needing a bit of help (usually monetary & usually they are missing like £1 or less) & if/when I am able to help, I will never think twice. I wld rather buy a child a drink on a hot day or a take out meal than anything else. I am not rich so sadly can't do as much as I wld love to. But a child is a child is a child to me. I wish ALL adults wld at the very least look at ALL kids that way. Wishful thinking on my part i guess.

Unreal. I’m only halfway through so maybe they clarify later, but I’m SO FURIOUS that police didn’t investigate further the night 911 was called. I get that some people misuse the system, but if someone calls 911 because they heard someone calling out for help, police shouldn’t be allowed to walk away from the call until they have ensured the safety of everyone involved. Saying they “couldn’t find the caller”?? Even if they remained anonymous, dispatchers have that number, and police could’ve called that number back for clarification. It may have saved this momma & her babies from such a savage, evil, catastrophic end. I don’t know how monsters like this can live with themselves. He read that “apology” like a grocery list after robbing the world of those 4 lovely humans. I can’t imagine that mother/grandmother’s pain. God bless her for doing so much good in their memory, despite the heavy weight of grief she’s carrying.

This was sad. I went to school with her and her big sister Ashley. Her and I have the same birthday (March 14) and my younger brother and Ashley have the same birthday (September 6). She was always really sweet in school. Her parent's were really cool too. Her dad was a Liberian, I saw him ever so often into my early 20's (I'm 31 now). I never imagined I would see her in this light. RIP.

I'm a white person, but my granddaughters are mixed. I don't care what color you are, what financial status you come from, damn it we are all connected together. I love my grandbabies more than anything. If her mother and her sisters say something was wrong, there was something wrong. Family knows if something is wrong, police needs to pay attention. This story broke my heart and I always felt as though the police didn't respond with the intensity needed that could've saved their lives... being from Milwaukee I witnessed on many occasions racial disparity from law enforcement... From the outside looking in the signs or (triggers) was the death of her son and her probably reaching a breaking point of not wanting to be with him after feeling as though he killed their son... Omg my heart aches. I lost my son at 2 months old. The drs misdiagnosed him and over looked the Rsv. When she talked about her daughter being broken and then mad. That hit home so much because I was angry for a very long time. But then to lose a grandson and then daughter and both granddaughters. The pain she feels brought tears to my eyes. And yes. There are TOO many cases where color still plays a factor in whether the police jump on something and how quick or how strong they start investigating. Its the same way with women in s** work or past or even current drug addicts. People still love them. Everyone has a family that cares
We need to stop allowing social statuses to impact how hard we look for someone or how quick we look. I would rather the time be wasted by finding someone and it being a false alarm than to waste time not doing anything and then when they finally decide to act they arent alive anymore. I pray for her family. Her mama is so strong. Atleast they all can be together. All 3 kids and their mother. It just didnt have to be that way.
And i hope that sorry excuse of a human being has a life of hell in prison. Your apology was not sincere but one day i pray it hits you so hard that you will never go a day without having those beautiful faces in your head and i hope he has.to relive that day and what he has done. I wish the neighbor had called 911 again but honestly the police need to be sued for wrongful death as well as negligence. They couldn't locate the person who called 911 because they didn't try to. They completely turned their backs to the Banks family.
As far as that Satan's child goes he allowed his son to die and then murdered the person he knew was never going to remain silent about her suspicions. I guarantee Jereka said something, or by her demeanor, he knew she knew he allowed that baby to die, he didn't try to save him. He likely may have strangled that baby as well. He deserves the death penalty for taking 4 innocent lives.
He is going to kill or hurt someone else in prison if he is placed in general population or someone will kill him. He should be on death row in a cage 24hrs a day and entering that chamber within a year to be disposed of. That would be the only logical resolution.
