I had kuru fasulye in Istanbul some time back and have been searching for a recipe that would reproduce that dish (a restaurant that served only kuru fasulye near the university and across from a major mosque) and yours seems to be the closest. Thank you for sharing it. It was one of the best meals I've ever had.

Great.. we have this in Serbia ,it's called pasulj, ( usualy cooked with smoked dried ribs) Pasulj has obviously stayed with us considering we were under Ottomans rule for almost 500 years, lots of other Turkish dishes..sarma, djuveč, ćevapi, stuffed peppers, baklava, tulumbe...to name the few, amazing and delicious cuisine :)

Thank you! I have made the Turkish white beans but never knew what the pepper paste was. Appreciate your explanation of the pepper paste. Thanks again. I will try to make the recipe again from your video. Blessing to you.

Looks great and I will try it. Dang I was just at a Middle Eastern market in Ottawa last week that would probably have pepper paste, but of course I didn’t know I would need it yet. I did buy a bag of Aleppo peppers because I remembered I had wanted them for something once but where I live now, specialty items aren’t always readily available. Originally I’m from Toronto where you can get everything easily so sometimes it is frustrating, but there is Amazon. Makes sense to put some sugar in to balance the flavours like you would add salt in sweets or coffee to chocolate. In Canada we put molasses or maple syrup in our baked beans. Thanks for the recipe!

Start with one cup of dry beans, after soaking they swell with water and make 2 to 3 cups total.
