Linda here…I love everything you do! These quick, inexpensive meals are awesome! We live on a sailboat in the Caribbean and beef can be expensive and difficult to find. The animals they raise are very lean, too. I love the idea of vegetation dishes that can be seasoned with meats. Our “kitchen” and refrigerator is so small that most of my time is spent provisioning and prepping for meals. I have to have everything prepped before I can start cooking. I often prep carbs like potatoes, rice, beans the day before and refrigerate for the benefit of resistant starches that will raise blood sugar less. Also, the heat can be unbearable in the summer and I often don’t cook…just salads and non-cooking dishes…perhaps you could look into that? Thank you so much for all you and your crew do. You’re all a lovely group and I get so much joy from watching and sharing your videos.
One of the things I love about Turkish cuisine is that yogurt is served so often with many of the dishes. I used to eat it only at breakfast, but now I enjoy it throughout the day and savory as well. ❤
I totally love how you don’t waste anything, Refika. I sometimes feel a little crazy because I always am running outside dumping my rinse water on my plants when I’m cooking and secretly burying my vegetable scraps through my yard. I live in an HOA (which I know would freak some people out, and they might try to stop me from gardening altogether). I just hope more people around the world catch on before it’s too late for everyone.
I'm sorry you have an HOA with such rules 😮 I thought they were only for really rich people, but I've heard in some places, nearly all the available houses are HOA. It's hard when you are doing good, frugal, ethical things like planting scraps or drying on the line. My neighborhood gets a little shabby at times, but we have yards with art projects, big gardens, and all kinds of unique displays reusing "junk," which I love.
I make this often, my husband is Turkish. I love it rich like yours. I put potato in too and no meat. My mother in law makes it very bland I don't like it much. Big dolop of yoghurt on top and crusty bread. Yum
Thank you so much for this series! Feeding a family on a small budget is hard, so this is fantastic :) Lots of love to you and your team from New Zealand ❤
Thank you Refika, Bahar and Team. Great series, and yes, we need all the suggestions you can give us for affordable meals, life is increasingly difficult for so many of us all over the world. I also like the idea of a meal that can go for a few days, or any tips for conservation. Thanks Refika for all you do, with your great heart!
I miss cooking with my kids. I had 4 and needed help cooking enough for everyone. Especially egg rolls and pierogi. We loved them so had to make a lot.
This was great! I made this for lunch today. It was delicious and I even brought two servings over to our elderly neighbors. Thank you from Idaho, USA.
7:03 Love your videos. Don’t forget to mention putting a towel over the Pilav and letting it rest. In America that is Nora thing but my I learned it from my Turkish wife and WoW it makes a difference. Keep up the wonderful videos!!!
I'm loving this series. Great idea! I haven't been following long, so I have a lot of catching up to do. A lot of doctors recommend a Mediterranean diet these days, and your recipes make that seem a lot more appealing and not so intimidating.
I love this dish Refika such a original idea to serve rice pilaf with green beans rice and fide is so delicious in Bulgaria we do baked pilaf with meat like beef and chicken and i love sucuk great idea pilaf with sucuk i think you have garlic pilaf from the Black sea region and i love your salça especially biber one please show domatesli pilav
My Lebanese Granny always made rice and vermicelli and our family makes it as a staple. I haven't tried it with anything else. I will try these recipes. Thank you.
Love the idea of low cost, high value. My husband and I would like to have more rustic, healthy ideas. New tastes and textures. We are seniors and chefs, but not familiar with Turkish cooking. Looking forward to the new series.
You don't. Food in the US is very expensive, certainly compared to Europe, almost everything. And the there's the poor quality. Take a few minutes to search youtube for US food price comparisons with the UK for instance.
@@jonathanfinan722 I live in one of the most expensive markets in the United States. However, there are always deals to be found. We also have such variety and abundance. Other parts of the world have been struggling for decades. The increases in the United States are in line with the increases seen globally since Covid. It’s good here. You don’t have to feed your family junk food. That’s a personal choice.
Thank you too Refika, you have great ideas for us. Most of us have all you used in our pantries but not the way you presented it to us.Thank you so much for schooling us on ways to make great dishes from what we can afford. I love this new program, it will help me stop repeating the same bland insipid dishes. Thanks for sharing, lots of 🥰🥰🥰🥰 to you & your crew family. Be blessed as always 🙏🏿. ✌️&❤️😄🤗.
Thank you. Your idea of featuring healthy, inexpensive, and fast meals is great! I am a huge fan of the work you are doing. Everyone should know how fantastic Turkish food is!
I cant have more than 1/4 cup of whole beans, but love the ideas & learning more about Turkish food! Its one of the best cuisines ive ever eaten, even tho ive only had turkish food twice lol! I even had to go to sbarro twice to convince a colleague to join me once at the turkish restaurant i spotted!
I love how in touch with reality your show is. Instead of some 20 step expensive dish with tons of hard to get ingredients you are cooking so we can make new dishes at home. We love your heart. Keep up the good work.
We English love beans any time of the day. Eggs, beans and toast for breakfast,. Beans on toast for lunch and mashed potato, sausage and beans for dinner. Yum!
Hi Refika from Tennessee USA. Great looking dish. Looks like a good way to get more for you money. Thank you so much for sharing you recipe with us. Have a fantastic day.
Thankyou for this sharing this recipe and I love the idea of economical meals. I made this one today and subbed in soy curls for the sausage. I also added in parsley and cilantro from my garden. It was really good. Thank you
Thank you for this! I adapted it for my food sensitivities and it still turned out amazing! It made 5 servings so I have one each day for work. I'm eating it right now for lunch! 1) Used all olive oil, different brands to change it up. No dairy. 2) Instead of sausages I broke up left over meat from bacon beef burgers. 3) Instead of wheat vermicelli I broke up dry rice (with bran) spaghetti noodles. I've never fried pasta before and I can eat that as a snack! It's delicious! 4) Used parsley, cayenne, mustard, and tumeric for flavor.
Yeah, the prices of commodities have skyrocketed since the pandemic. I also make beans that way adding prosciutto cotto cubes accompanied by plain rice. I am not fond of excessive use of oil or butter. Thank you, dear Refika and the whole team❤
Ah lovely - certainly a mouthwatering dish, to say the least! It's a wee bit like the vegetarian dish, 'Rajma-Chawal'(which translates to red kidney beans and rice) that we make back in India! Love your channel, your recipes and you! Thanks for whipping up tasty, delish recipes episode after episode - truly enjoyable, both to watch and try out. Best regards all the way from New Zealand.
The new series is a great idea. Thank you. I'm looking forward to trying Fasulye & Pilav as soon as I can find vermicelli. I wonder if I could break up spaghettini or angel hair pasta. Would that come close?
Hello Refika, from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 ,l have been following your recipes,+ I have tried a couple of them ,all very Tasty & healthy . I like your friendly nature . Lots of good wishes ,& 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for sharing and all your wonderful tips. I just soaked my chickpeas for falafel and it's going to be the second time I'm going to make it. Lots of love to you all from Rene here in South Africa, Cape Town ❤
Thank you/Teşekkürler! I've watched many of your videos, but this is the first dish I've made. It was so easy I had to try it. I love a simple, cheap dish. It tasted really good and the butter to finish was perfect. I had to sub orzo for vermicelli. I followed the same directions and it turned out well. I also added a few extra beans to stretch it for 3 and ended up with a full extra 4th meal!
This recipe is so easy and tasty. I made it with andouille because that’s the sausage that is available here in mid-Missouri. I will definitely make this recipe again!
I have heard about green beans with rice from Turkish cuisine i think the dish name is Dible one of my favourite ways to use leftover rice what variations of Diblesi you have? I think tursu is good but i like the idea of mustard in dishes i know that in tursu you add hardal have you ever tried it in Indian style dishes?
Oh wow. My Kuru fasulye is very traditional. Yours is more innovative and looks delish too. I usually use fresh meat. This version is for busy people. I'm gonna try this. Sağol
Love the idea of this series, always enjoy watching Refika and her crew, it brings me joy! We have a vegetarian and a gluten-free person in our household so I like to see easy and affordable options for these, like this dish!
Thank you. This looks delicious 😋. I think it’s a great idea to make this series. As a vegetarian I love that the recipe is adaptable. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with ❤
Yay thank you so much! Money is tight for me right now but I love cooking creatively and don't want to compromise on taste! Can't wait to try these recipes ❤
Bless you Refika, you are so thoughtful, this is a lovely series. My mom used to make lebanese white bean stew growing up and it was one of my favorites! So comforting and delicious :) I will try your recipe !
I can see some resemblance to the Asturias Fabada. We, in Venezuela eat this type of beans ( Caraotas Blancas ) and I love it. And another thing that surprised me was the rice with the noodles, we must have some turkish influences for sure.
I made this the other day - it was wonderful! Thanks you - this is a great idea and I'm looking forward to trying more of these quick and affordable meals.
Thank you Refika, the price of food is just so scary these days. I really appreciate what you are doing. Many thanks!
You’re always welcome! 😇 thanks for your support ❤️
Because of your channel, I now always have the Turkish tomato paste and the hot paper paste in my kitchen. And bulgur. 😃
My 4yo clapped for you at the end of this video, I promised him I'd tell you! We're definitely going to make this

This is such a delicious comfort food, haven't met anyone in Türkiye who doesn't love it! And with pickles yum yum yum!
Hi Refika and family. This is a great idea. Turkish food is so perfectly balanced between healthy, filling and economical

I love that you offered this to your neighbors. This is also part of the Turkish culture but we keep forgetting about our traditions. 😢

Hi Refika from Tennessee USA. Great looking dish. Looks like a good way to get more for you money. Thank you so much for sharing you recipe with us. Have a fantastic day.
I have been eating rajma chawal since childhood, never thought of adding chicken to it
“A bit of butter on top” sounds like the best advice to enjoy life! 😋😁😸

When I make it without sucuk, I add some garlic, fenugreek powder, cumin and paprika to the sauce so it tastes like there is sucuk in the sauce. Yum
