    Still knitting in the garden, watching your videos. A moment ago, a poor man approached, politely, and kindly asked to see what I was knitting. His face lighted up. He said the socks I am knitting are like those his mothers was making. He was very polite, said good bye and went away. Although he was visibly very poor, he did not ask for anything. My heart goes to him. Knitting can connect people together.

    Watching your sessions in chronological order, I have the privilege of listening to your thought process when you face a problem. For example, you are very dissatisfied with the color of your Home Cardigan. You are very cautious, because everything else went very well, about that project. It is only the yarn, that doesn't work. But after wise reflection, taking your time, and listening to advice, you dived into a home dying endeavor. It takes bravery, but it worked. Thank you, thank you for sharing those " real life " sides of knitting clothes !!

    Your knitter's experience with the Home Cardigan is a special one. You started with a good pattern, very good skills as a knitter, and you had success in knitting the pattern in a way that is very flattering to you. The block on the road: the flawed color of the fabric. But you pushed your 'problem fixing talent' one step further : you decided to dye the cardigan. This is not for the faint of heart ! You succeeded ! 🥊🥊🥊 Hourahhhhh ! 🥊🥊🥊 It must have been marvelous to shop for yarn in Ireland. Wow. I guess you will never forget.

    It is wonderful that you shared about hand dying the Home Cardigan. Your explanations stayed with me, when I watched your presentation for the first time, a few days ago. I never home dyed garments before. On this particular piece, the result is interesting. There appears to be some variation of the way the fabric took the dye. 🐻🐻 Interestingly, because of the classic-casual style of that particular cardigan, the final result is sweet : the slightly variable shades of brown give it an extra degree of countryside warmth and charm. I love it. 🐻🐻 Ah ! The adventures of garment crafting ! Fascinating !

  • @NathalieSt-Pierre-pb6gj
    @NathalieSt-Pierre-pb6gj 6 месяцев назад +74

    Wow ! How brave you are ! The home dying experience ( of the Home Cardigan ) must have been stressful. But now you are happy with the result. I laughed when you said : " It looks like a home dyed cardigan ... because it is a home dyed cardigan ! " 🎯🎯 I like it : we can be proud of what we are doing at home, instead of being ashamed. After all, we put so much creativity and time, into this. In this time of crisis about the excessive amount of waste that we are producing, to recycle garments through a 'home made' remedy, is really great.

    When you were travelling in Ireland, you must have felt you were living a dream ! ! 🍀🍀 Too bad you did not have more luggage room to bring more yarn. They have sheep breeds there, that are more rare. I mean, different breeds than the merino, shetland, etc, that we are used to see in the yarn commerce. 🍀🍀 Just being in those Irish yarn shops, looking around, certainly is something you will never forget ! ! 🍀🍀

    What you went through regarding that Home Cardigan, was very interesting for me. I have never considered changing a garment's color before : I thought once something is finished, the color is definitive. You need to live with it. No such thing now. I will experiment with dying. I learnt from your podcast. And your Mudo Socks are splendid.

    Watching this video 4 months after you dyed your Home Cardigan. Now, with hindsight, are you still pleased with it? Even more so that you are coming out of the cold season, in Australia. I am asking because that Home Cardigan was quite the adventure, it seems to me. It took courage, to dye it, I imagine [ I have not dyed anything yet ]. Did the final garment live up to your hopes ? The only reason why I am not casting on the Mudo Socks right away, is because I am a monogamous knitter. I like to finish a project before I start a new one. That is the way I am obsessive - compulsive. 🐽🐽🐖🐖 But I already have my yarn at the ready, for those ! 🐖🐖🐽🐽 Still, now I understand better, what happens for many who have many projects going simultaneously : they fall in love with the next contestant, before the current one is done. Your shows are so motivating !

    A beautiful episode. 💬💬 I can tell you put a lot of 'life force ' into your knitting ! ! 💬💬💬 A question about the pink shorts you knitted. This is a very original idea. How well do they withstand repeated washing and wearing ? Given that they are shorts, that consideration is important ( I think ). But if I am out of line for asking, I understand. 💬💬💬
