Hello Sir !! I set up my computer to grayscale for better comfort of my eyes. So I've been watching your videos in black and white. Your colored art is very beautiful but very common, I think !! On a monochromatic basis, your art becomes enchanting......... a perfect balance between light and dark, between light and shadow. A true ZEN art for delight of my eyes. Thank You !! 👁

It's soooo good to see an Aussie painting the sites that sooo many Aussies never see. You hold our collective romance of our sparse, dry challenge of a land. Thank you soooo much.

    Richard,
Loving your videos...the adventure and your fine palate knife work. Two things for your consideration...some woodland scenes and your process for stretching/priming a belgian linen canvas.
    WELL DONE...PLEASE DON'T STOP!
    Cheers,
    Greg Douglas USA

Good lord Richard. If i was not so tight for money right now, i would buy that beautiful masterpiece in a heartbeat. what a pleasure to watch you paint (for free) so beautifully. youtube is a tool but people like you are a gift to so many that probably don't even realize it.
One suggestion or more like... a wish. It would be great to also see film shots of you traveling in search of your subjects in that amazingly country of yours. setting up your camp, watching you doing the no painting stuff also. you are an inspiring and probably the only one traveling around australia painting it FOR REAL ( you know what that means i am sure). more stuff behind the scenes... how you plane your trips, your grub and the cooking of it, setting up camp shots, and what goes with it.
It might sound superfluous, but what you do, and the effort to get to what you paint and what it inspire you to do so is a great part that most don't ever get to experience it. You are very fortunate to live in such beautiful not human infested country. one guy, one awesome adventure truck, one big ass continent... oh boy... share it all if you please. Just a thought mate. Apologies for my unrequested opinions

Hi Ric, firstly thanks!!! I really appreciate your input and it’s funny, I was only thinking earlier that I am going to include the extra stuff to tell the full story like you do! New at this filming stuff and am inspired by the way you compose your vids. All the best my friend!

Richard, you seem to share along with myself a love of painting flat landscapes. I would love to see you come to Alberta and do a few. I love your style and energy. Thanks so much.

Could I ask what camera you use? Ive tried filming with a gopro. It doesnt quite represent the colours accurately.

I’ve tried a GoPro and found much the same as you! I’m, at this stage just using my I phone 7. I need a wireless microphone next to pick up my voice over the windy days! Hope this helps

      @mark-dietz 7 лет назад +1

I didnt even consider an i phone. As for your microphone I bought a wireless one that I used (and lost) to record riding my Harley. I bought it cheap on ebay and has a sponge windsock around it. It worked great at 100 km going down the highway clipped to my saddlebags so Im sure it would work for you. I looked it up and Im sure the one I bought was a samson xpd1 you can just clip it to your collar.

it's always a pleasure to watch different artistic styles being demonstrated- i love you're abstracted technique and use of bold colours that mix in the eye to create the natural forms.
i have a comment about your video technique- i noticed that the exposure of the picture changed severely when you were in front of the camera, bleaching out the background. i think you might be able to solve this problem if you wore a paler shirt that contrasts less with the light background. just a thought and it might not work, but if it does i think the viewer would see more clearly how your paint corresponds with the landscape while you're working.

Hi Richard. Im sitting here painting in my studio watching your video and had an idea. You know how we as artists live in our own minds. How about at the bottom of your paintings reaching down and mix some sand into some paint and give a grainy foreground effect and it would make the painting unique because it has the sand from the place it was painted from. Just an idea. It might even add a little more realism. Your paintings are awesome Richard.

Beautiful painting! Could you tell me what you do with the excess paint you scrape on the edge of your pallette?

Thanks Dorothy, sometimes I can use some of it in later stages of the painting and other times...it gets wasted!

Beautiful painting! Am curious about how you came up with the idea of your trailer setup?
Also have you thought about wearing a mike as you are a bit hard to hear with the wind.

Hi Jacqui, the trailer started a a way to move large paintings around...After that, went from there with the idea of an easel on the side etc! I’m trying to get a wirless microphone for the setup. Cheers 😃

I made a special trip today to grab a burlap canvas and tape to try this method.
I’d have to build a linen canvas, but soon I will.
Very happy with how the canvas holds the colors. Also love the tones you use, the oranges, purples, ultras, ochre. The camera is on and there are no superlatives . You inspire.
      Cheers.
