  • Today I'm back in the studio and painting a larger version of a little 'fleeting moment', that was painted 'en plein Air'. The aim will be to keep the bigger impression as simple as possible, whilst maintaining enough detail to hold the viewer's interest!

Love this approach. Also, you’ve solved the transportation problem with large, wet works.
I’m impressed how fast you can move along, waaay faster than almost any brush can cover, especially when utensil-cleanings are considered:: one wipe and you have a new, clean blade- while I have to use a *dozen brushes!
I’m going to find a knife ASAP!

I enjoy watching your videos and have been using a palette knife a lot more since. The work you create is very inspiring not to mention the opportunity to see your beautiful country's Outback I almost feel like I'm along for the ride. I know these videos take hours to edit and load on RUclips so thank you very much for your time.

Your videos have been helping me a lot with my anxieties during this pandemic. I've been getting back to oil painting after years of digital painting, and I miss doing oil from my college days. I love it when you run back to look at a painting from afar - makes me laugh with joy every time lol! Love your painting!!

I came back and had a new look at this one. The shadows are so brilliant and just make the painting work. The sky is brilliant and just adds to the mountains. I really like this one. (how does that drone follow you whilst your driving. that's a trick by itself. haha) Bill

BTW, I prefer *this old hat to your (new) topper, tho all wear out eventually.
Also BTW, the bottom band at dusk reads “gray” here in Colorado.
Love the way you preplan your composition to move quickly once the light is exactly right!
I’m a lifelong pro who’s grateful to be learning new stuff from you!

Lovely work as always Richard. Could you tell me why you have choose to have secondary colours on your palette in the orange and green , and a tertiary in the brown rather than say having a bright primary ie cad yellow and red and cobalt blue with a muted primary say yellow ochre , alizarin and pthalo blue with a white for 7 colours in total... is it just for speed of mixing and the colours you encounter most?
