Hey good people, sorry but I completely forgot to mention the snake statues! Before fighting the boss you have to destroy the 3 snake statues around the area before the boss fight. There's one out in the open area against a wall, one in the area behind the shrine, and one in a cave. If you don't destroy those there will be annoying poison pools in the arena and you don't want that! Totally spaced on mentioning them in the video. I made a new video recently with the final patch/updates where I fight this boss armor-less, and in that highlight video I do show the snake statue locations, so if you need it, it's here: ruclips.net/video/dXcnRHVfm7A/видео.html
I just spent the last 3 hours straight fighting this snake. I had a decent idea of how to beat him but got tired of it. Found this video and beat him after a few tries. Thank you.
I've already beaten this boss, but youtube showed me this and i just wanted to say your thumbnail is super cool. I wish everyone did this. Good on you, friend.
I found this while looking for the soundtrack of the boss fight, and while I've already beaten the boss and don't need a guide, I wanted to give a thumbs up for the spoiler-free thumbnail :D Very nice of you. Spoilers are the worst
I would like to say thank you for the spoiler free thumbnails. Consider this comment my appreciation for being considerate for people like me. Too many times I’ve been spoiled by a thumbnail and spoilers can completely sour a game for me. Even minor spoilers can dampens my anticipation, ironically enough. I just wanna experience go in, everything for the first time and be surprised and amazed, you know? Though I don’t own Nioh 2, I do plan to in the future, and when I encounter these boss, I’ll be sure to watch your guide videos just to say thanks. I would also subscribe as thanks to but I’ve been subscribed since the original Nioh days!
Thanks mate. I know YT will still be the hub for spoilery thumbnails since it's all about the clickbait wars with most RUclipsrs, but I'm going to keep the spoiler free thumbnails going. Even if I lose some views that's okay, I'd rather not be that guy. I also want anyone who subs to know they'll be safe with what they see from me in their feeds. Thanks for noticing and dropping some appreciation.
Oh, since you haven't played Nioh 2 yet I should point out the character in the thumbnail is my custom designed character. The character creator in this game is awesome, and by having spoiler free thumbnails I get to show off the character I took hours to make :D
Wish this was the first guide i watched The other guides have the same basic strategy But this really helped: 1. Insist on odachi 2. How to avoid the "charge" attack properly 3. Burst counter in dark realm.
I totally missed the beginning where you mention to use a long sword. However thanks to the rest of info provided in this video I finally beat the boss after days of frustration and pulling my hair out. Thanks for very instructive and helpful video!
Hey there, just recently bought the game on Steam after finishing Nioh 1 months ago, and this guide really helped me out alot. Currently finished all the "Crusher" titles for the first area, and this video really helped alot for this specific boss, though I had to repeat many times as the boss manages to hit me with those random punches and that one grab move that pulls you towards it.
thanks for the guide man, Spent hours to defeat this snake but always failed. After I see your guide finally I defeated it. Still died a few times because I was very nervous though. Thumbs up from me. Cheers!
Those are excellent tip and advice: I'm starting Dream of the Demon (ng2+), and it felt like I never played this game before. The strategy is perfect and the overhead attack definitely works, although I did it with splitstaff. Thanks!
Thank you for the guide! Died like 30 times to it then finally I somehow got it low enough before it left the first yokai realm and it gave me 2 triangle executions in a row.
1. When charging it will follow you 2. The needles it sprays also follow you 3. There are 2 different arm attacks, the regular one and a quick one when it crosses its arms. These 3 things are a must to pay attention to. Other than that, good vid.
This is the best & most comprehensive guide that we actually helpful. Most guys just tell you stuff you adjust know. Like take it does it don't use all your Ki or something else like that which is not helpful. I was just up to this fight so perfect timing on your part for me to ethos pop up in the home page. I am also an Aussie so it's great to find a fellow gamer who is helpful, loves the game & being from the same country is like the cherry on top. Thanks mate! Yep, Odachi is pretty good in Nioh 2. I'm pretty much running a Ninja build early game and I'm not perked for Odachi at all, but I keep using it. I'll be looking at making a proper Odachi build later I think, though it does plenty of damage on its own anyway. Not sure yet, still just wandering around checking out the scenery lol.
Great vid- I didnt have an odachi but can confirm it works with a high stance glaive although getting the positioning in the armpits takes a bit of work. Thanks mate
Yeah the glaive takes some good timing. Kind of a fan of the glaive tbh. Switching between low and high stance for fast and big womping attacks is pretty cool.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think he took one hit from this boss. Amazing. Not sure how he avoided the tail sweep when he was so close. I can't beat this snake for 3 days.
To avoid the tail sweep you have to time you dodge through. There's a small window of i-frames that make you invulnerable to it if you time it right. It's tricky timing though, best not to be near it really.
I tried to beat that boss with my favourite Kusarigama several times, but it seems to be the wrong kind of weapon for this fight. I will give the Odachi a try as shown in this vid. Problem is that I don´t have a strong Odachi yet so I don´t know if it will work. EDIT: I really made it with the Odachi in second try with no exilirs and about 100 health left. So it was still a tough fight and closer than close.
The problem is the Boss doesn't do the arm in the ground move in the second phase often. Very hard to counter the move where he comes towards you and swings it's tail. Stuns me every time. What to do?
By 'swings it's tail' are you referring to the grab move that is a real bitch to dodge? To dodge it you have to time it perfectly pretty much. Some soul core attacks completely counter it. The Nurikabe soul core is excellent as it's fast - if you time it well it will smash the snake or its attack will go right through you. Apart from that you have to learn to dodge through it. You can change your Guardian Spirit while at a shrine. Just remember you only get access to different Guardian Spirits as you complete missions, so early in the game you won't have access to many.
@@yugimoto4467 So long as you like the weapons you're using, yeah. I did my whole first playthrough with just the Kusa, putting only points into Dexterity and nothing else. I only switched to different weapons in NG+.

Oh wow... i died over 40 times before killing him with luck and forgot to break one of the snake statues to remove the poison...made my life a living hell..
@@skullpheonix6 Yep. One statue behind the closest shrine to the boss room, one statue in a cave, and one statue out in the open area near the bridges quite close to the cave where the other one is.
You don't need to damage the additional heads at all. Because when the boss enters the Dark Realm you have to think about the other heads and how to kill them if you don't have any ninja skills. I know that they are one hit away from death but in that time you could get damaged a lot and maybe even get killed trying to kill the little snakes. Just run away from them and from the boss until it's no longer in the Dark Realm and then repeat the process
All these tactics videos are useless. You can't do anything in the dark realm at all in this fight, stopping to attack him or little guys for even 1 hit = instant death or eventually you die if you keep avoiding them anyway. Tried this over 100 times you can't cut them off before he summons and once he does that it's impossible. Maybe it's just me but this seems literally unbeatable (obviously I know it's not). Really enjoy(ed) this game, hate that I have to quit because of one dumb boss fight.

Oh shit, you just reminded me I completely forgot to mention the snake statues! I'm an idiot!
Wait you can destroy the statues to remove the poison in the boss area?
@@skullpheonix6 yeah theres 3 snake statues
Really enjoy(ed) this game, hate that I have to quit because of one dumb boss fight.
i cam here for the other snake :(
So many snakes to worry about. Almost as many as spiders. There's ALWAYS spiders.
Can I use switchglaive
Yep. But don't follow my video or you'll die.
I hate the music in this game lol
Some of it is repetitive and grating, but man, some of it is sooo good though.
awful guide mate, you''re approaching this as if it was dark souls, stop trying to teach people to play like this, this is not how you play this game
