Marcus Liriano I’m 5’5” with a 30” inseam. I haven’t ridden one yet, but I’ve sat on one and while a tad tall, it feels reasonable light and easy to handle. Upright I was between my toes and the balls of my feet, but if I leaned just a little I’d be squarely planted on the ball of one foot while the other foot still touched the ground a little. While I’m not a fan of tall bikes, this did feel very manageable. I imagine riding it would be even better.
I enjoyed her review...none of yahoo wheelie nonsense that reviewers tend to do or showing off mods instead of reviewing what's standard off the showroom floor
Mature guys ;) the motorcycles I have test driven before i bought this do change gears differently. How it feels. You know ;) you bastards. However; I warn you, i bought mine. THe second gear is twitchy, i cant roll on the gas without getting a jerk like being pulled. And switching from first to second and second to first is hard. Ive only ridden it for about 200 miles (400km), but I do not trust the bike if I switch from first to second in a roundabout that im not suddenly in neutral. Il tell my dealer when i go into the ”first” service. And also, WTF is the lambda sonde (exhaust sensor) doing being completely exposed? :p Anyway, great review! Im sure I made a good decision...... :D
Ducati 797 or XSR700? I passed my test on the MT07 (FZ)and demo’ed the 797, though not the XSR700. Looking to get my first big bike after nearly 3000 miles on my 125. Love the character and soul of the air cooled Ducati, and seen a black one ex-demo with low mileage.
Between the two I'd actually choose the XSR700 but that'd be just preference. I am not sure about the styling of the ducati 797. I've seen both bikes in person though, and the ducati seems to offer a more "premium" looking option. Either way, both will be very good bikes. I personally prefer "classic" looking bikes and would probably go for an older 1st gen monster if I were to go with a ducati. Be warned about the maintenance costs of the ducati though, they will be slightly more expensive compared to japanese bikes, valve adjustment is around $1200 for the 14k mile or 2 year service UNLESS you can wrench it yourself and only spend about $15 on a valve shim. it's pretty expensive due to the pretty complicated "desmodromic" valve train system. otherwise reliability will be on par with the yamaha as the 2 valve ducatis are pretty much the most reliable duc engines out there. good luck!
J0n p3r3s Thanks for the detailed reply Jon, that’s good info when considering a purchase of a Ducati 797. As a comparison I had a go on the 2018 MT07 with the revised stiffer suspension yesterday. The MT07 engine feels like it has more punch than the 797, I went easy on the tyres as the bike had only 20 miles on the clock! Lots to think about before I make a purchase! 😊
Richard Collins My friend has a scrambler 800 (same air cooled engine as the 797) and he is always complaining about the heat it produces in traffic, as opposed to my mt07 which is liquid cooled. Also (slightly biased here i admit) the mt sounds better (both with open exhausts of course), whereas the v twin just becomes louder at higher revs, the mt sounds like a v twin at low revs and transitions to a mini r1 crossplane sound at high revs. It is also a lot easier to ride, but i will say the suspesions and brakes on the ducati are better.
Chicken Soup for the Loser it was hard decision, i demoed the 2018 MT07 at the beginning of the week and it’s a great bike. I also feel you get a lot of bike for your money with the MT07. Still, I managed to get a red 797, I liked the slightly forward riding position, also I felt the 797 has its power more evenly spread. I’ll get the Termignoni pipe and remap at a later stage for it. Pick it up on the 30th June. 😊
Just got mine this week. I love everything about it. The throttle is so smooth, and it feels like a smooth launch when taking off out of second or third gear.
The 900 is hard to handle even for an experienced rider. It wants to lift the front tire off the ground at all times. The 700 has plenty of power and torque, especially if you add an exhaust and a power commander. I love the 700.
I would say 700 for now till they release the 300. Cuz, you just need the power of a 300 to do in city rides, take it occasionally on the freeway too. Even 700 or 900 is not freeway rideable, the wind blast is something you will hate. XSR 300 is on the radar and expect one soon
Rockwood Joe it’s a nasty nasty exhaust, sounds like crap and looks it too. I just bought one of these and I’ve gone for the twin akropovic exhaust and it’s marvellous.
I had to point it out, cause the video blabs on about "70s inspired" styling this and that. Exhausts in the 70s were chromed works of art. It's the first thing I saw, and couldn't stop gagging...
Yep, it is a really fun bike but for very long touring not so much. I usually am pretty tired after a 200-400km daytrip, mostly because of the lacking wind protection.
Bullshit..the suspension is too soft and on bumpy roads it’s like a pogo..unbalanced and shifts you back and forth..everything else works great! For it’s price a good naked bike.
Good looking,Yamaha reliability,and affordable.Nice job Yamaha!👍
A real rider reviewing a fabulous machine.
One thing I've always liked about ME rider tests is that they give us some background of the rider so we know what their existing baseline is.
Brought one yesterday !!!
Andrew Felcey How do you like it? Any issues?
got one aswell
Yeah, how tall are you because I like everything about this bike... but I'm 5' 5. Do you think it would even be possible to ride it

I went with the SV650 due to a significant price difference, this one is much prettier 👍
Cheers 🍻

how tall is she? thank you.
Only thing,I wish it had dual analog clocks to add to the retro theme.
I thought it was only here in Scotland that got that weather? good review Michele, like it! ride safe!
Love the riding posture ❤️
Great job Michele!
Fz07 is a very easy bike to ride. I used it as a commuter for the 10 min ride to work and barely awoke the first 5 - 10 min.
How do I change gears??
haha I lol'd

she's talking about the feel of the clutch (taps clutch)
She really knows what she's talking about.
Great review.
1:39 where is the LED front light..., 2030?
3:44轉彎前確實注意左右來車,讚!
Hello how tall is michelle. Curious about the height thinking of buying this for wife THANKS
Well done, Michele!
It's a looker!
I bought one!
C'est une bonne moto pour rouler tous les jours par tout les temps?

Would you buy one with your own money?
She said the same thing as I thought.. Get some luggage.. maybe a rear rack? And a windshield yes.👍😎
What about the throttle response?
Just got mine this week. I love everything about it. The throttle is so smooth, and it feels like a smooth launch when taking off out of second or third gear.
@@BenRingenberg Nice.
I don't like how the radiator looks on this one, very exposed.
Hi. Is it more upright than the mt07?
Elie Nehme yes it is
Urban Kyng thx
new rider, should i get the 700 or 900 for long term?
The 900 is hard to handle even for an experienced rider. It wants to lift the front tire off the ground at all times. The 700 has plenty of power and torque, especially if you add an exhaust and a power commander. I love the 700.
Yamaha recalled xsr700J,MT07JC, XSR700JC DUE to bolt chain Gard contact the driver chain break which could lead to accident. 😵🤕

They should of give it a type of side cover/plate.
Is this XSR too high for me if I'm 1'70m ?
I am 1,74 and i am totally fine with mine. And you could buy the flat seat wich should propably lower the seating position a little bit.
Der Kernspalter thank you very much. You're so gentil
I am 1.68 and I ride this bike. I can't flat foot of course but you will get used to it.
Who the fuck uses meters to measure
I like xt500 look I d like a modern xt 500. The tenere 700 was a disappointment at 452lbs.
It's not a parallel twin, its an inline twin.
Uh, that's the same thing. Pretty sure the manufacture knows what they're talking about...
I have a 2018 MT07 which I love but the XSR is better looking.
Did she really say "how do I change gears?" WTF?? Same way you do on every motorcycle, ever!
🤕🤕Yamaha recalled xsr700J,MT07JC, XSR700JC DUE to bolt chain Gard contact the driver chain break which could lead to accident.😵😵😵😵🤕
The exhaust looks like it was molded from a lump of putty, with a pipe sticking out. Factor that into purchase price...
Rockwood Joe it’s a nasty nasty exhaust, sounds like crap and looks it too. I just bought one of these and I’ve gone for the twin akropovic exhaust and it’s marvellous.

Would be fun for a second bike.
Mike Daily why a second bike. Good enough for only bike
Because my other bike is decked out for long distance touring. Plus one bike is never enough. No?
Mike Daily wish I could afford two bikes Mike lol
Yep, it is a really fun bike but for very long touring not so much. I usually am pretty tired after a 200-400km daytrip, mostly because of the lacking wind protection.
Replace "second" with "another".
Still using Telescopic fork?
God damn!!
Alcune cose da migliorare:accesso chiave per l accensione, on off acceleratore fastidioso, forcella troppo morbida.
Is it fun though? Lol
Bullshit..the suspension is too soft and on bumpy roads it’s like a pogo..unbalanced and shifts you back and forth..everything else works great! For it’s price a good naked bike.
The suspension on mine is fine, maybe you just got a bad one 😅
.
FAKE? she doesnt know how to change gears? signals? ...
F zed 07....stop saying that...its FZ07.
That's how they pronounce Z in Canada. Just because they're white doesn't mean they are american lol
Sorry Eh!
