Dude, just some pointers ; if you sit on a bike to demonstrate the riding position ALWAYS put your foot on the peg so people can see what angle their knees will be in.Its essential for relaxed riding. Also ; mention your own height so we can compare. The XSR is defenitely no learner bike with its 70 hp engine.(in aussi you ll have the LAMS version knocked down in hp so that is fine)You demonstrate te front lever adjustment all wrong; lift the lever, then turn the rotor to change position .Mind you ,just FYI whishing you a great day and thanks for the review mate!
I am a 40 year old that decided I want a bike on a whim a few months ago. Did Q ride and then walked into the moto shop to buy an MT07 walked out with one of these with an Akropovic exhaust. As someone that hasn't ridden in 20 years it's terrifyingly fun I love it. Can't wait to get my big boy ride by myself licence in the new year. The throttle is "sketchy" I believe most new bikes have jacked up gogo handles because of the EU regulations. An exhaust and a tune gets you a few more k dubs and much nicer off the mark linearity. It's also wired for a quick shifter (up) get that quick shift is just a lovely thing to have! Nice review if I hadn't of bought one already you would have helped my decision!
Sports bike for daily riding? Huh. I still can’t wrap my head around that. Sport bikes are the best looking and so tempting but naked seems like the best choice for daily
@@jhoned5762 Been daily riding an R3 for over a year now. Trust me it works. Where I live most people daily sport bikes so it never even felt awkward. Still want the xsr700 sometime though. Lately as I've been riding the 900 has been more tempting as the power difference from the r3 to xsr700 isnt TOO great. However it's pretty obvious that riding a 900 daily through traffic isnt going to be great. And that thing drink gas
Beautiful bike!! As a 50 years old beginner, i looking forward to find my first bike. I like the cb500x, also very much the SV650 ( will be awsome to make a review) and also this beauty from Yamaha...uhhhh big challenge!! Thanx again and regards from far away Serbia 🇷🇸✌️
Honestly wouldn't even call this a learner bike, cuz this is the 3rd motorcycle I've owned and by far this is the funniest bike and no easier to ride the the others. For reference my bikes were 1: 2012 fz6r (white) (criminally underrated motorcycle) 2: 2005 cbr600f4i (silver and grey) 3: 2022 xsr700 (black)
Great review thank you - I am going for my Ls shortly and am in two minds about what size bike to get. Some people are saying I need a light bike to pass the test to get my Ps but I really like the bigger LAMS bikes. Are the bigger heavier LAMS bikes still nimble enough for the test?
Cheers! And good luck. I did my test on a Ducati Monster 659. Horrible turning circle, and pretty heavy. It can be a bit harder to that test. But I still passed with no problems on that. So I say go for the bike you like the most, and don't bother buying two LAMS bikes. Just buy the one, and save for a derestricted bike when you get your fulls.
Not marketing, but legal reasons. Engine size and power is limited for Learner licence holders. So bike manufacturers offer a range of bikes up to around 650cc for riders who might be on their learner licence for 4 years.
Thanks for your nice video. If this is a Lerners byke means the ending goal is to ride what size ? Or just another marketing ploy to sell us a bigger one ?😊
Usually a full bike would offer CC's from 600-1000. Here you can have the larger motor, but without the crazy power. So it's a good size for those who want the most power while possessing a restricted license. You don't need it, but it's nice to have.
Colour sceme, led headlight, display moved forward and left ans inverted I.e light text on a dark background, was other way round. To be fair Yamaha did fit the Michelin Road 5 tyres and the 298mm front disc brakes ( up from 284mm) in the last of the previous 2021 bikes, but are an upgrade fro the 2020 model (in the UK at least and engine spec stayed the same in UK, not sure about down under LAMS model with 34cc reduced capacity fron 689cc). Hope this helps.
@@ProductReviewCars Oh absolutely! These weigh as much as an XSR900 but instead of a serious 115bhp the 700's only make an anemic 51bhp. I will tell anyone who wants to know that the 900 will KILL you within 2 seconds from launch! The 700 couldn't kill an 80 year old grandmother until it reaches a pathetic 60mph in around 2 hours from a standing start. LOL. Seriously? I own a 2020 XSR900 that is stock, and it will do 0-100mph runs in 4 secs and a top speed of 150mph in sixth at redline. And it gets to that 150mph so fast there is literally nothing that can keep pace with it. Nice video and it's OK for learners but I'd probably go back down the power chain to maybe 30bhp? Cheers and all the best!
When i made my license on a 650 4cylinder i was shocked and intimidated by that power. for me (a run through walls with the head guy) it was too much and many people i talked about that they share the same opinion about 650 are not learner bikes. a 300 up to 500 are learner bikes, for a 650 i would recommend to have at least 2 years riding expirience on a lower class bike. dont underestimate the power of that 650 bikes.
I jumped on a 600cc learner bike, absolutely no issues and with no riding experience. 600cc learner bikes and 600cc unrestricted bikes are very different in Australia. So as long as you’re responsible with the throttle, you’ll have a lot of fun on a bigger bike that’s learner approved.
Something about it. It's just so gorgeous.
ikr

true, i have one. it is a lot of fun (low end torque) with manageable power, has nimble handling. you will ride it with confidence.
Should I get one ?
I was leaning towards an r3 for my first bike, but this thing is much more my style and is simply gorgeous, especially in black.
Tbh if you're comfortable with a bit more power, the XSR is just that much more comfortable for daily riding.

It's an awesome ride. And thanks for the support!!
I bought one as a 60 year old beginner to learn in Switzerland. Fabulous - still love it 2 years later. Totally recommend
May I ask how tall you are?
Awesome review! Subbed
Appreciate it! Got more bike reviews on the way 🏍️
Im not spending 13k on a bike to learn on....but it looks great ! Love the design !
Great video 👍🏼
Maybe next one to review is XSR900 ..
Absolutely!!! Countdown to full license in T-minus 4 days.
Bought my first one and it is a XSR700 🎉
Lovely bike
Same here 🤟 faster sons 🤜🤛
I am 1.7m (5 feet 7 inches). Is this too short to ride this bike?
I like that jacket. Any chance you know the model?

Does the XSR 700 uses slipper clutch just like the XSR 155?
It doesn't have it.
The marketing pitch "learner'" means leading to an ending goal of what ?
Sell us a bigger engine or more expensive heavier motorcycle 🏍️ ?
Not marketing, but legal reasons. Engine size and power is limited for Learner licence holders. So bike manufacturers offer a range of bikes up to around 650cc for riders who might be on their learner licence for 4 years.
seeing that high seart, I'm curious if a person at around 1.75 m could ride this without problem

3:10 Only 52.1hp in your country? It produces 73PS(54kW) in Japan.
and 688cc
Restricted for learner licensed riders
@@ProductReviewCars Understood. Thanks.
@@ProductReviewCarsCan this be de-restricted here in Australia for that little bit extra CC ?
What!? Which controls in the handlebar switch the display info? I can only change that with the display buttons.
Maybe I’m crazy too but they don’t, not on my 2018 at least
What's the difference between this and the old version?

Do you have to be home sepian to ride this bike.?
huh?
Does it have assist or slipper cluch? One guy says it does another that it dosent
It doesn't unfortunately. But i don't mind.
At about 4:30 you say „if you’re on your Ls and P“? What does that mean?
Pretty sure it’s the types of Australian drivers licenses. L is learner is P is provisional or something like that.
Absolutely Beautiful Motorcycle.
It's a stunner for sure
cool! what's your height?
5 foot 11
Great video. Suzuki RM650 please
Thank you! For sure, hopefully some Suzuki's will be available next year!
Is it worth 13k tbough?
Depends on what you want. For some yes, for most no
Looks great, I just find the clutch too hard.
Interesting
I ain't gae but why does this dude look so dang good he even kinda looks like leon s. kennedy?
In what universe is 13k a learner bike budget?
It's up there. But it's advertised as LAMS approved
Ninja 400 pls
Sure!
@@ProductReviewCars thank you ❤️ looking forward for it
Learner bike wise up
Huh? It's literally a Learner Approved Motorcycle here in Australia...
Tf.. How come it has only 50ish hp??
Geared down to be learner compatible. Sucks that we can’t buy the unrestricted version in Australia
75 in the states
Not really a learner mate… cheers
LAMS approved. I’d say it’s pretty decent for those with a bit more confidence. Not so confident? Probs not the best starter bike.
It’s geared back to be a learner here. Sucks, we can’t get the unrestricted in oz
A 700cc is not a "learner bike"
It's restricted on its power output. It's a big displacement motor, but hardly has the power of a proper 700cc motor.

this is everything BUT a learner bike the CP2 engine will kill someone it is too torqueie and fast. Who dafuq thinks this is a good learner bike wtf
It so isn't. It's limited for learner approval. It's not the High Output CP2. No more dangerous than a 300cc bike.

why when you started to ride the bike why does has to be split screen and bigger portion of the screen is you? you are narcisstic gay riding bike 🤮
R9 with mt09 engine whould be best
