    Great compare/contrast video! I’ve owned a few bikes including a 2018 MT09. I had the same goofy laughter and smiling from ear to ear while riding it. Sold it 3 years later, solely due to my legs feeling cramped. I’m 6’, not particularly tall. Bought the Tenere, and it has been the best “overall” & “do it all” motorcycle I’ve ever owned. I hope you’re happy with it. I absolutely love mine!

      Does the Tenere feel underpowered after the Mt-09?

    • @TalkTheRide
      @TalkTheRide  7 месяцев назад +7

      Not underpowered, more sensible and usable perhaps? The mt09 is crazy, but how often can I use that power ? In the end I want the ergonomics and comfort of the Tenere way more 👍

    Big CC bikes normally come with better equipment, but the most important, you don't have to twist the throttle to much to move around. Having big CC and proper suspensions to hold up big guys, it is another world.

    • @TalkTheRide
      @TalkTheRide  7 месяцев назад +1

      Big CC is taxed here in Norway, those bikes become luxury items, not machines for riding. The Tenere Extreme has a beefed up suspension, perfect for big guys, is light and fun to ride, and affordable. 👍You should try one!

    If you want a long distance touring bike, and for some reason it has to be Yamaha, then you should give the Super Tenere 1200 a go. It's a big fat battleship but super comfortable and rock solid. (They stopped selling it in the EU end of 2021, but since Norway isn't in the EU you might still get it new.) However, other manufacturers also build great bikes that may be more suitable for your needs. Check out the three sizes of Suzuki's V-Strom; the 800 might be right up your alley.

    • @TalkTheRide
      @TalkTheRide  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not looking for a long distance touring bike, no. I'm just looking for something a little more comfortable than my xsr700. I love all aspects of it, except for the ergonomics and size. The Tenere Extreme is exactly what I want 👍

    I think tenere with wider seat would be good. The extreme has narrow enduro seat. Have you tried r1200gs. Or any gs. They have very good leg room. Wide seat. Great wind protection and expecially the water cooled ones are fast too. And no chain hassle. On long trips chain maintenance is so annoying.

    • @TalkTheRide

    Unsure of your previous bikes, but for me an old 2006 BMW R1200GS - [non-adventure model] is the comfiest bike I've ever owned. Can happily ride 300 miles without an issue and tons of leg room. Good video and interesting discussion of the relative ergonomics, but did you really have to ride the bike to figure out that it was too cramped? Excellent video, best I have seen on your channel. It had a real point to it and was very real as I totally bought into yor search for a replacement for your XSR. If you are a fairly new rider I'd have thought that the CP2 power was enough, there is a balance between a smaller engine that leads to a lighter more chuckable bike and having more than enough power and extra weight and less flickability that can lead to an intimidation effect that could result in you using less power than you did on your smaller engined bike. How much did you ride your XSR between 6500 and 10000 RPM? I get the impression that it was the search for more comfort that was driving the potential change. You have already proved that you are a very discerning rider to have chosen the bike you already have. I have one identical, inc paint scheme, rack, Ohins rear shock and aftermarket Leo Vince exhaust, however I am only 5'6" tall and 70 Kg, so find the comfort fine.

    • @TalkTheRide
      @TalkTheRide  7 месяцев назад

      Wow, thank you for the thoughtful comment! 🙏👍 I really appreciate it. And you are right, the CP2 is enough for me. It's the ergonomics that are cramping my style, on the xsr700. Ergonomics wins, at my age (and weight) 😁. Again, thank you for the constructive comment 👍

    Thanks for the comparo... I have an old school KLR (07)... I am 6' and 250lb... I have thought about the XSR but wasn't sure about the size... Thinking I would have a street bike in the XSR 700 and keeping my KLR for trails and longer trips... Or possibly, replacing my KLR (which I am apprehensive about, 'cause off-road you are just in-between drops) with either the World Raid or the Extreme Teneré... So, I thank you for your thoughts on them. Coming from the Kawi, I am upgrading power either way.... So, the World Raid being a bit heavier won't be a thing, for me... The fuel capacity will be similar, though. But, I like that extra room info, concerning the Extreme. Haven't heard that from reviews before.
    I though the Extreme had the same suspension as the World Raid; but, maybe I am wrong.
    Thanks, again

    Would you share how tall are you? I'm 200cm and most of bikes are too small :( considered xsr700, but my dealership sold them all ^^' mt-09 was fun, but not really my style. Tracer 7 boring, not that big. Triumph 1200XE was fun, but the most expensive and don't like the look. A bit lost here 😅
    Would XSR700 work for 2 meters?

    • @TalkTheRide
      @TalkTheRide  2 месяца назад

      Step into my office, friend! 😁👍🏍️ I'm 186cm and a bit long in the legs. The xsr700 is too small for longer rides IMHO. The Tenere Extreme with a tall seat is your best bet, legroom, big pegs and a beefy suspension is worth the price difference 👍 Try one out, if you can!

    Good luck with your search. Wise to stick with Yamaha.
    I recently acquired the T7 standard model here in the States and I am loving the bike. Like all bikes there is compromise but the core of the bike is perfect for me.
    Coming from much larger ADV bikes, the Harley Pan America, 2018 KTM 1290 SA-R, 22' 890 Adventure standard model and I've had the KLR 650. I think the T7 might just be my bike of many solutions where I can pare down the garage.

    How to turn your Tenere into what it should be. Remap. Decat ,junk snorkel and bigger air box lid. Ive seen that you like the Yamaha's. Even tho I would like to recommend a Husqvarna Norden 901.
    It is a bigger bike with enough legroom, same kind of bike like the Teneré.
    I think it is a nimble bike for the size. Really duable especially for your height.
    It has more the power than the Teneré. It more on the level with the Tracer 9/Mt-09.
    The engine is a 2 cilinder 275 crank just like the CP2. It has the same characteristics except having 40hp more than the CP2. It is a CP2 with CP3 power in Yamaha terms.

    Try the Tenere 700 Explore, have you see it? The Extreme is the more off road focused version, the Explore is leans more towards the road and touring. Great video, ride safe, I own a Tenere, the things I do not like are the tube tires, which force you to take off the wheel if you have a puncture, opposed to be able to plug it as you can do with a tubeless tire, I also do not like the OEM tires, especially on cold days, would change them to street oriented tires soon, the bike is good, reliable, but as you said, boring..... And..... after few hours, you can not run away from the seat, it is really painful no matter what you do..... This is my impression, I bought it two years ago, as my Guzzi V7 was too small for long trips, so I come from the same place you are coming from, and the Tenere, is great but not the solution for me at least, it is not comfortable seat wise, and boring as hell, and the stress of the tube tires is just not fun, I am not mechanically inclined to carry tools, take off tires and change tubes on the side of the road.

    If you are mostly going to be riding on road a R1250GS is worth at least taking for a test ride. They are very easy to ride and super comfortable. Don't let the published weight put you off - it is easier to lift a 1250gs up than a Tenere from a fall.

      @@TalkTheRide yes indeed, one of my biggest issues with it for drives over 1-2 hours is actually the lack of protection on hands and windshield to small, even tho i added a decent size after market. As an all year rider, in cold climate, the hand guards and good wind protection matters. Guess it really depends on what is the intended purpose, if you want to commute daily, 1-2h + and lug some gear, nothing beats adventure bikes, esp for tall guys. To me the most comfy were AT and V-strom, i never tried Ducati MS, hear that is great but boy is it expensive. Duke, my wife hated the back seat, so she voted that one down. I think as far as how these pull, all 1k cc and up are more or less the same (aside from duke and ducati), and they all sit around 550lb... um 250kg ish? will be fun to see what you get and how you like it.

      @@TalkTheRide I was just looking for a 2up cruiser to bring my daughter along. I come from a z900. Also being 40+ I had no idea how I would take to the luxuries an older RT can offer. Heated grips/seat, cruise control, power wind shield. You mentioned you wanted to do more touring, imho none of those have a great touring wind shield. You will always be fighting the wind. The days that aren't perfect is when the RT shines. It also corners better than my z900. It also has long legs for its gearing. 2nd gear will handle 10-85 mph. Makes for some relaxed cruising. 6 gallon tank, I am averaging 42.7 mpg. Best of luck.
