Yammie Noob Yammie love ur videos I’m looking at a sena smh10 or cardo freedom 2 plus found great deal on both what are your thoughts or anyone else’s thoughts
Love your chanal. what time are you doing the giveaway today Sunday March 15th. keep up the great content. I'm new to riding I don't have a bike yet and I'm learning so much from you guys. I really love the Leo exhaust on the ninja 400. Now all I need is the 400 to put the Leo exhaust on LOL.
And by the way I like to thank you guys in advance for winning the ninja 400. Lol 😊 🏍
How do you feel about the kawi ZX-6R?
@@obriangrady2295 your lucky my man. Take care of her.
Take a shot every time Yammie calls it the ‘XXR’ and you’ll be hospitalised 😂
Ha, good call buddy
Lol!
Lol! 😂
Passed out before I got to the XXR 900 overview…
But the 700 is only 84,990 dollars!
XSR700: Sir? Please restrain yourself.
XSR900: *harder, daddy*
LOL
One thing to add, is that the exhaust majorly impacts how you experience the bike. Give the 700 a proper full exhaust like the 900 had, and it will also roar through the rev range like a classic muscle car ripping down the interstate. That's one of the main reasons I find the 700 so appealing, sure it's not a complete hooligan bike, but it still maintains that thunder in its soul once you open it up and let it sing a bit without restrictions
@tom tom You can literally see the full Akra exhaust on it (6:52 example). The reason yours might sound more violent is likely because you removed the baffle, which isn't the case with this one. Still, the full exhaust with baffle still highly alters the sound compared to the stock system.. Besides, you can alter a lot of how a bike behaves depending on how your tune is set up. Can't compare modded to modded like they're the same. Besides, Yammie doesn't like wheelies, you will never see him pull one even when there is plenty of potential for it. So don't expect him to pull one. And obviously a parallel twin will never sound like a triple. It s a different engine with its own character. Why would anyone expect a twin to sound like a triple?..
@tom tom well I think cp3 engine is beginner friendly 😅
😂
I read this sitting in a plane on the tarmac and laughed hard enough to get busted and told to put it on airplane mode.
This man comparing two Yamahas while wearing a Triumph t-shirt
hah !
and he keeps saying xxr
Type of dude to wear adidas shoes with nike pants
Thats to keep you in mind who your god is.
He’s trying really hard, with a pair of Alpine Star boots too.
Damn.... $84,999 is steep for an XXR. Disappointed that Yamaha priced this thing through the roof as I just don't see them moving many units at this price!
Only joking Papa Yams! You are awesome and I loved the video, by the way! I love all of your content. I would be really curious to hear your thoughts on the XSR700 vs the CB650R. Is the CB light years ahead?
I was gonna buy one but for 5k less I got a new Range Rover.
Hahahahah 😆
My first bike after 30 years away from riding is a 2017 XSR 900. For the first few months I rode it on full traction control in rain mode. It's now in standard mode, but still full traction, and yet it has still popped several mini wheelies. I have to say, hand on heart, I think this bike has saved my arse on several occasions. I treat this bike with the respect it deserves. I look after it, and it looks after me. Absolutely love it. My only gripe: the fuel tank styling and fuel capacity. Love the lines of the XSR 700 tank, not so the 900. Fuel capacity could be several litres more. And if you're wondering, I turn 56 this coming April.
Yammie Noob:
"Don't get the 900 thinking you'll grow into it"
Me:
"I'm gonna get the 900 and grow into it :)"
Same 🤣🤣🤣.
I just got one few weeks ago
How effective is rain mode. Legitimate question.
@@raymond4307 how you liking it as a beginner?
Yea, definitely didn't want to get a 1000, I'm not that dumb, this is probably a bit more tame, and it looks great
Yammie Noob: "This motorcycle comes in at $84,899."
Me: "Seems steep."
😂
Gordon Freeman Damn right at my budget
I died laughing when he said this
I had to go back to make sure I heard correctly
Seems like you might be able to buy 10 bikes for that.
Finally, someone rode my bike (XSR 900) on RUclips. Love the channel, Yams.
How do these bikes compare to the ones you rode in China? Love your old bike vlogs just about to get my first bike down here in Oz
PS would love to see you and Winston do an advice for newbies re bikes, helmets etc
Hi, '86. When are you and Zed-A gonna review the Zonteses and CFmotos and Benellis of the world?
Hell, when are you guys gonna start importing those bikes to the U.S./Canada?
You're the reason I bought my chinese neighbour's bike!
Low key flex eh
Yammy Noob: XXR

Finally people appreciate my bike the xsr900 is amazing and i love it best bike ive owned
I love my xsr700. Kept it all stock. I hadn't ridden in 20 years so I got the xsr700 rather than the xsr900. It was perfect. Still is. Im 5'6". Can't really flat- foot but no problem. It's light.

Lol, did you just say “mid to late 20’s, early 30’s..” was the older crowd?! Not sure where that places me (mid 50’s... and XSR900 owner). Keep em coming, Yammie!
Is it comfortable enough for a daily commute? Mpg? Is it easy to ride 10 miles on the freeway?
@@genericallyaccepted, most definitely comfortable enough for a daily commute. i think you will get about 140-150 miles to the tank... a bit less if you are aggressive of course. 10 miles on the freeway would be no issue. I have the clear OEM windscreen. It isn't very large but does deflect enough wind to make speeds over 70 manageable. the riding position is very comfortable (not hard on the wrists at all) but the seat isn't the most comfortable IF you were going to be riding for more than 2-3 hours at a time. without the windscreen, the wind was hitting me straight on. with the screen, it might hit the upper shoulders. So again, you could certainly do a longer road trip but you need to be a bit of a warrior. hope this helps!
@@markpeter107 definitely helps! Thanks for your response. I'm really torn on this and the Honda cb1000r. I lean towards the Honda, but I need to test them this summer.
@@genericallyaccepted i think both will be fun and reliable. i htink the honda will have more forward body lean which will put more weight on your wrist. probably not a big deal for a daily commute tho. will probably come down to which bike has the looks you like more... retro-mod or street racer. good luck and enjoy (be safe!)
Yeah an older rider in his late 20s 😂
HOW THE HELL DO YOU KEEP SAYING "XSR" AND "XXR" INTERCHANGABLY??! MY OCD IS ERUPTING

The giveaway bikes this round are top notch, I'll definatly be in on this one!!
I'll go for the 700 being an older rider in my twenties 😂
LOL. I’m pushing 70 and will be picking the 900 up shortly. You’ll be the same if you make it this far, trust me. 😎
@@Buckarooskiczek it was what Yammie said that's why I'm laughing because he says it as if late twenties is old! I've just started riding a couple of years ago. I'm 50. Bet that 900 is sweet 😎
Don't be afraid of a motorcycle. The person riding it is who you should be concerned about. A bike is as dangerous as its operator. There's no such thing as a beginner bike. Learn to ride safely and you'll be fine.
Your right no other videos comparing the 2 ive been looking and finally you released this i own the 900 and man is she fun
To keep with the retro aesthetics while upgrading the full exhaust of that XSR700, you might want to look at SC Project's Conic '70s. It looks amazing, like it was built just for that bike. And it won't sound like a lawnmower anymore, but like a proper cafe racer. Cheers!
The XSR 900 is the bike i plan to buy second hand after I get the full license (2 years of riding)
Lmao I got the XSR900 as my first bike as well. Just make sure you keep the TC on 2 and the ride mode on B and she'll be very forgiving
Yea as long as we use our heads and some defensive riding rules everything gonna be fine
I know it does a wheelie taking off from a light almost everytime if it ain't on tc2
Traction control=TC?
Same here man
Oh shit this was before Whitney joined the team full-time, that's wild af
After 3 years of experience, I changed my MT-25 with an XSR900 and I still remember the first ride home from the dealership. I was screaming in joy & horror at the same time. Even in B mode XSR900 is an absolute monster.
This made me laugh! I prefer to ring out more "manageable" motorcycles than to drop loads in my drawers every few minutes on the high HP bikes.
I would've bought the XSR900 (the 700 felt like a 125cc bike), but the shape of the fuel tank where it meets the seat hurt my thighs. It was such a weird design. I got an MT-09 instead mostly because of this.
@@mekanikmusik U MUST BE FREAKIN TALL

Oh hell naw! I'm still a newbie at three years. Too much power for me. The XSR700 seems perfect.

@@yutella616 my country has a bullshit 400cc limit on expressways, I'd be spending much money if I buy a smaller displacement bike to practice on then get a +400cc bike to daily drive. That bullshit law is obviously meant to keep poor people out of the expressway to avoid overcrowding and accidents, first time the government limited how much they steal money from us just cause someone died while riding a motorcycle when a U.S president visited a long time ago
So get the xsr900 as my first bike. Thanks 👍
If I learned anything from this video it’s the fact that Yamaha didn’t say “XSR” out loud before naming the bike
Love my xsr 700. Pilot Power 3's massively improve the handling and a full carbon akra race exhust makes it sound mean. Track day a lydden hill in may!
2017+ MT-09 actually has same Riding modes and TCS settings as well as ABS. Also MT-09 has better adjustable suspension settings and range front and back. Front: Preload, Compression and Rebound, Rear: Preload a d Rebound. I own a 2019 MT-09 and it is better than the XSR900. Also, I think you are comparing that XSR900 to the 1st gen FZ-09 you owned. I also owned the 2019 MT-07 2nd Gen, and it has better ergonomics than the XSR700 which you also compared to the 1st gen FZ-07z
I just bought the XSR 700 and im in love with it! My first bike ever, and im very happy with what i got! :)
Excellent choice. I've ridden since childhood and find the XSR 700 an absolute blast. My daily is a KTM 1290 SAR, so it's not like I'm missing a powerful bike in my life. Stay well.

@@lukmannurovic5383 I wouldn't buy a new bike as your first bike. You'll feel bad if you drop any bike but you'll feel extra horrible dropping a new bike. Also the insurance can get nasty for a new rider buying a showroom new bike. Find a used XSR would be my recommendation.
@@Bredaxe problem is, they often arnt much cheaper
Great video 👍🏻 my girl is talking about the xrs700 This video made it a lot easier to talk her away from the 900
absolutely love my xsr 900. 20k miles down and i still go 6 - midnight every time i slide the key in the ignition
I love how he can't get xsr right
You can really tell the difference. The 900 was just asking for more, begging in fact. But the 700 was sort of relaxing, going along with no purring of a CP3. The 900 would definitely be for riders intermediate to top-level intermediate. I’m gonna pull the trigger on either the XSR900 or the FZ900 😈
Nice to hear more about the XSR! I'm a relatively new rider and the 900 was my first bike about 2 months ago. I ride almost every day in pretty heavy traffic and I've never felt like the bike was too much. People keep saying it's not a beginner bike, but I don't know what that means. Is it just too twitchy a throttle? Not about to contradict any experts, I just think as long as you're careful AF, taken some courses, and have some other riding under your belt (used to ride dirt bikes as a kid) you're fine. If you're riding like a jackass any bike is a deathtrap.
Nathan Grove the xsr700 is still almost to much for a beginner lol should start out on a 300-400
@@CarbonR6 Yeah, maybe if it's your first time on a bike. I'd been renting bikes for about 6 months beforehand and had prior experience with dirt biking.
@@nathangrove7061 I felt the same way after I got my license and started riding a 600cc Honda f4i. It's a legit fast bike but like as long as you don't do anything dumb that you shouldn't do on any bike it's fine. I will say opening it up in 1st gear to redline the first time I almost fell off lol but that's just life.
Agreed. I rode a drz400sm as my first bike for 1 year and then moved up to the xsr900. I never plan on selling it, such a blast to ride.
Many years ago, my first bike was an 86 VFR750.... bitches that complain that certain bikes “aren’t beginner bikes” are the idiots that can’t trust themselves with real equipment....they have no relevance to anyone else....
People die on bicycles... buy the bike you want after passing the motorcycle safety course, be an adult, don’t try and do anything beyond your skill level....
From now on, we have to just call these XXR as Yammie referred to them all video :D
I'm a big tall guy. Bought the xsr900 as my first bike. Left it b mode for quite a while. Took it real easy, couldn't be happier with my decision. It's CRAZY powerful, did you just have to respect it because there's no room for mistakes.
Just got a 2019 XSR900 and it's definitely a beast. Makes my old but still very fast 04 R6 feel pretty tame by comparison, at least low in the revs where it counts.
Do you find yourself missing the high RPM power? These bikes fall off at mid upper to high RPM range and as a 600 4 cylinder rider I feel like I'd miss the ability to actually rev.
@@NathanaelNaused
I don't miss it at all. The XSR is just so much more enjoyable for street riding. I'm probably going to turn the r6 into a track bike as I have no desire to ride it on the street now that I have the XSR. Different strokes for different folks though.
@@JohnConnor12 I suppose with a 900 that's pretty much a moot point because it's so powerful.
@@NathanaelNaused My previous bike was a CBR 600 F and the XSR engine is just so much better on normal roads. Of course it doesn't have that frantic top end of a 600 supersport, but it still pulls hard all the way to the 11k rpm red line and is superior everywhere else.
@@frankbaumann8392 Gotcha. I guess maybe I'm weird because despite the fact that 4 cylinder 600s don't have a ton of low-end torque I've never felt that it was too slow below 8k and I know how to downshift if for some reason I needed "all" the power. In my mind the whole point of an engine is the higher I rev the faster I'm trying to go or else I wouldn't be revving the thing. So it doesn't make sense to me for an engine to be all power at the bottom and less at the top. I guess I'll just have to ride one and find out.
I own XSR700 my first bike & love it! Yammie I’m old af 50! Love your vids kid :)
Lol. The xsr900 is my first bike. I love it!
Ha, same! I got mine a few months ago. I'm in my late 30s and not a dumbass though, so I've been very careful with it and haven't done anything foolish. It requires a steady and careful throttle hand, but if you're mature and treat it with respect, you'll be fine.
As to not be confused like papa yams over here with the XXR, I just read it like this "Excess-R" and makes it easier to say and remember lol

Yammie, bro, How many times are you going to say "XXR"?
Xsr 700 bike for experts, xsr 900 a bike for beginners...
Who is the XSR900 for? Folks who like to ride but don't like being in a sport bike position all day, who want something that's not anemic, and who own more than black leather vests with club patches on it. It's effectively the old UJM with modern technology, comfortable riding position, and loads of fun.
Interesting. It seems that the 900 now comes with a full six axis imu of safety features built in whereas the 700 has standard abs only. One could argue the 900 could be safer if respected and rider acts with self control. Of course those controls are switchable and more likely to be needed on the 900
Sold my XSR700 to buy myself a bar..
I regret it everyday.
Terrible decisions. A bar what do you mean. A bar??. Sold xsr what????
Got MT 09 as second bike (after 3500 miles on a Honda Rebel 500). I’ve lost 4k$ on this exchange, don’t want to change in 2 years. I got the bike, hit the road in STD mode and TCS 1 progressively. Saw the throttle was « responsive ». Got few hits, after 500 miles I can hit pothole and the bike stay under control. I also start to lean more and give throttle at end of corners. 60 to 80 off and on ramp will give you a smile. It depends on your maturity, if you like to go full throttle all the time then, or cant resist to hit max speed on all bike you touch, MT are just not for you, or any bike with agressive throttle responses. Even the 07 can pop the wheel if you hit hard. If you’re smart and want to get home safe it’s a good bike. Slipper clutch is awesome and cruising on highway is night and day.
I've wanted a xsr900 for 3 years, I currently ride an old ass 78 xs750 and xs11. These things look great!
Forv$84,000 xsr700 should be a borderline gp bike, lol..
Dude, you knock the brakes ect, for 8 grand, its well above its expections.. yamaha calipers are really good, they all work the same, just a simple hydraulic system, its the pads and braided lines that make a difference, branding just means $$ in calipers,
Hey Yam! I’m looking at a second bike for next season and considering the XSR 900 and Triumph Street Triple of comprable years and mileages. What do you feel are the differences in terms of ride quality and feel? I ride a Ninja 300 and love to shred the twisties but also commute to work. I like a more aggressive riding position but not supersport ergonomics. What are your thoughts on the two bikes?
The Triumph has the sportier riding position. On the XSR you sit more on the bike with quite a lot of leg room. The top end power band on the Street Triple, especially the RS, is also more pronounced than on the Yamaha which is very linear in power delivery. The R and RS versions of the Street Triple come with better quality suspension. The XSR is sporty and doing fine on good roads, but doesn't cope that well when riding hard on bad roads.
I chose the XSR because of the more comfortable riding position and torquier engine, but you might enjoy the Street Triple more because of its sportier ergonomics.
@@frankbaumann8392 Thank you for the well thought out reply! I think I ought to ride them both if I can
@tom tom That's a sick deal. I think that's what it will come down too: Which one I can get the better deal on
I paid $7500 for a brand new XSR900. Last year. Great bike. So fun to ride. I got it because I like retro styled bikes but I also like power. lol. To see mine on Instagram go to @Moto_Ghoul
Both bikes are wheelie machines and really fun to ride (even reasonably).
I sent my 900 to anger management school. No problems now.
The XSR 900 is a blast to ride ! One thing is that is very, very tempting to do things with it that are not within legal boundaries. Or I should have said that is downright impossible. lol
Sport Bikes have clip ons, not bars. They also have a completely different riding position. I had a FZ09 back in '14 or '15. You'd be wasting your money on track. Not enough lean angle for that...

Are you a cop?
Ironically, I did pass the MSF class on the first try, but had the distinction of being the only one in the class to dump the bike during the class....lol!
@Charles Williams Jr I even tweaked my knee pretty bad, but hid it well enough to finish the course and obtain my "M" endorsement! Was not trying to have to start all over again! Lol!
i think yamaha should just bump up the triple to 900cc already!
I rode both back to back last summer. The XSR 700, though perhaps the most capable bike at its price point, felt like a soulless appliance to me. In contrast, the XSR 900 has bags of character, owed just about entirely to its engine. Of course, even if the dollar difference isn't so great as to put a lot of distance between these bikes, the power delivery is. That said, I recoil a bit when I hear people assert, "Beginners beware!" These bikes are not literal demons. It has a throttle. It's able to go slow and fast. If you're a nervous beginner or a reckless daredevil or not terribly well coordinated physically, yes, I'd steer clear. But if you've got a good head on your shoulders and are quite capable of staying in control physically, I wouldn't fear more powerful machines like the XSR900. Just respect it.
Just respect it. That's a good way to put it.
Finally a well thought out comment for people with common sense!! Thanks!
I bought xsr700 with 35kw restriction as my first bike and I must say I love it. For a complete begginer is brutally fast and couse it got torque like in every rpm you almost cant be in wrong gear. My third riding season just began with it and after 2 years this bike still feels fast. I am surrounded with twistie roads and I just love to ride it there eventhugh I got stock tieres on. Yeah this bike realy feels the most comfortable in low rpms and crousing but you can still ride it quite sporty. Definitly have to get akrapovic on it couse I think that will improve overall expreience with it.
Thanks man, that was super helpful. I really like the Desert Sled the noob rides, but I'm hesitant on the Ducati maintenance schedule. A friend of mine recommend the MT-09 and I just like the XSR styling better. I think this video might have sold me on the lower cost and less maintenance of a Yamaha.

It's a bit much for a new rider". Thank goodness I was dealing with a decent person and not someone who just wanted the higher sale.
I got my SV650 on 4th March as my second big bike, otherwise my 6th bike and I am more than happy with it.
17' SV650 owner here. Bought it new. Did a shock and front suspension upgrade q3+ tires and added Rizoma street bars after a few years. It is an absolute hoot to side, Street, touring and track day ride.
If this guy says neo-retro one more time I'm gonna jump... I'm 11 minutes in, I'm a goner.
can i buy the xsr900 as my first bike if I promise never to put it in sport mode
You can, just that you might never get to try the sport mode
Here in 2021 to congratulate Whitney on the upgrade from owner-Yam-met-on-Twisted Road to member of the team!
That XSR900 makes a naughty sound
Wonderful video I still want the 900😂
A sub 400 lb 70 HP+ , 0-60 mph in 3.2 and a 12.2 quarter mile is a beginner's bike? A < 250cc bike is a beginners bike.
Good Goat yeah Yammie uses the liberal definition of “beginner,” where the main concerns are beginner friendly ergonomics and torque placement, followed by price then reliability
Good Goat
He’s an American, not one of those nanny state owned children in Europe.... and as an American, my first bike was an 86 VFR750.... it was used and had been tricked out by first owner for track use, I didn’t kill myself.
Grow up, at least TRY to be a man and not a giant raging pussy!
Love my XSR900, thing pulls to 0-150mph like it’s no one’s business
I don't think 650's or 700's are "beginner bikes" as Yammie tends to say a lot. A true beginner IMO would be a 300cc and lower bikes. Just saying
idk how many times you said "shred" lol that 900 is a beast.
What do you think about going from a 300cc to the xsr900? I learned in a CB300R, but I want something bigger now.
Go for the 700 the 900 is a real handful
Was considering the XSR 900 as a second bike after two season of riding a z650 but the shape of the tank is bit weird. My knees don't fit in unlike on the XSR 700
Oh contraire. I went to the dealer a couple years ago to buy the XSR700 and bought the XSR900 instead. Start in B mode TC2 and have fun. Kept the rubber side down so far! Glad to not have to buy/sell/upgrade later. One bike to rule them all. Cheers!
Reviews4Fun thank you for the testimony only thing I’ve ever ridden was a four wheeler but after my msf course I’m getting this bike I will respect it’s power
Noobie bro I appreciate ya, but you need to work on your Sssssss.....
It's not for a beginner and he makes that clear but he makes it sound so fun
Hah my thoughts exactly, him telling me I shouldn't only makes me want it more
I'm a beginner rider and I drive an XSR900. No problem at all! All bikes are dangerous to drive if you drive like a mad man. As long as you don't play with it you will be fine.
Finally a video that does a comparison! Thanks Yammie. Gotta CB300F last year to see if I missed riding...turns out I did. Been deliberating tween these 2 and the Scrambler.
$8499 USD? That's a 2018, they got 2018s at my delearship for $5,000 unused.
Can I have your motorcycle dealership address? I want to check out the bike
@@LuanNguyen-oo8ml Spunky's Motorcycle Shop in Parksville. That's where I bought mine . I paid $7,000 CAD, so thats around $5300 US
@@niceshot4563 that is really a good deal. Here in US. They still keep 2018 model in 7k5 range. Unbelievable
As an xsr900 owner I totally agree, it’s not for beginners. I rode the 700 before buying it and it was tame in comparison.
It’s the torque more than anything..’ve ridden and raced a bit, dirt, roadrace, street riding etc..the 700 is a great bike. I loved riding it when a friend lent me his. I don’t think many people realize that little twin makes the same torque as a 600 supersport at HALF the rpm. The 900 makes 30% more torque off idle(!) than a 600 AND a 1000 super sport where the 1000 matches torque at like 8k rpm..it is a nutty bike that will put someone on their ass with the quickness. I have an rsv4 now that scares me sometimes, this Yamaha 900 triple makes 25 ft lb more off idle than my Aprilia..this Yamaha 900 is a straight up hooligan machine
Have you ridden an EBR 1190sx? If you haven't you should give it a go.
it's the ergonomics mostly. it is so much better to ride in the upright position you don't get as tired as quickly.
From most other people I've spoken to the 900 is only a beast if u lack throttle control. Yammie seems to share the same opinion as Cycleworld. That the 900 is way too powerful for it's own good. Think that's why Yamaha decided to put 3 different riding modes on the bike, which a few reviewers seem to overlook. Dont have one yet but seriously leaning towards the 900 over the 700 and Ducati Scrambler & Monster.
If I came from a 250cc bike that I have been driving for 2 years do you recommend the xsr900 ?
