      Some people sent him a drum kit and he lived with his parents who were in their 70's, so Terry's drumming caused arguments which added to other problems caused by his illness meant he ended up moving out.

      @thompsonmatthew 4 года назад +19

      @@andrewtate8007 no he has a point. the reality is, nobody bothers to build a compiler because you have gcc and clang.
      As trite as this is, there is no point reinventing the wheel. Nobody develops OS kernels because you have Linux. Nobody writes operating systems because you have Linux distributions/FreeBSD/Windows.
      He spent a *lot* of time on this. We're talking over a decade. It's not unfathomable that somebody with a CS degree, working on it full time on disability benefits, could write a compiler and OS.
      People with that degree of skill don't bother. They apply their skills to things that matter, like improving open source projects or getting paid to work on proprietary projects.
      Don't get me wrong. I think this project is fantastic for people that want to learn more about how compilers work, and how operating systems work. But he was never the world's best programmer or close to it. He's definitely above average. And in view of the fact he managed to do it all notwithstanding his schizophrenia is extremely impressive.
      It's a pity his schizophrenia wasn't better controlled, and that he couldn't work. TempleOS with the god stuff removed would have been a great hobby project. Easily better than any hobbyist OS on osdev.org. He could have achieved great things aside from TempleOS. Blame the US healthcare system, or lack thereof.
      He was also extremely racist and that was indefensible, since the schizo just removed his filter.

      @@thompsonmatthew Ok so you are saying that he isn't a genius because he reinvented the wheel? With his knowledge, he could've done much more but he's still a genius to be able to do this what he did alone. Every video I watch takes my mind to a next level of fuckedupness. How can someone be so genius yet so delusional at the same time. He should be studied by psychologists, sociologists, computer scientists and many many more domains.

      Idk, even if I was the most content person on Earth, I don't think I'd be able to deal with the constant eyes on me, studying my every move. Now, if they just watched my videos, that'd be okay.
      Actually, now that I think about it, that's probably what you meant. Also I think we're all just delusional.
