Talk is cheap. It’s what you get done that matters. Linux’s success speaks for itself.
Calls out Linus for making a 1970s mainframe. Makes his own operating system that actually looks like a mainframe.
He said TempleOS was built because of god. If I were god I'd be livid if someone pushed out this garbage in my name, what an insult
IF you got it out of a book you know whatever... genius
Linux must have thousands of engineers and developers who were and are making contributions for them. Terry was one man, who was ill.
man i miss this dude.
I watch these videos sometimes, TempleOS is like watching a piece of art in a gallery for me. I still have the ISO saved somewhere, maybe now is the time to see if it works.
He was very right on the analogy of Linux with a semi truck that will never be a passenger car.
Swapping to disk feels not that bad on SSD. How many cycles shows a disk fetch take with ssd's vs hd's?
Happy birthday Terry, hope you are in heaven 🙏😊
Simplicity is great until your lack of security gets you hacked and drains your bank account.
Terry is better than everyone ngl.
I'd take Terry Davis and his occasional schizophrenic-induced n-word drop over Linus Torvalds being an actual a-hole to people. At least Terry has an excuse.
RIP Terry. Gone, but not forgotten.
Sharp and delusional at the same time, we miss you man!
Can TempleOS make meaningful use of more than 1 core? I understand he processes all graphics in the CPU but does he also essentially ignore all but the first CPU core.
The OG: Andrew Tanenbaum vs Linus Torvalds circa 1994 (when I learned about it). Linus blew a gasket big time.
Jesus Christ this man was ferociously intelligent. Oh my God man. And he's so quotable as well. He should still be here, Rest In Peace Terry
Pobre imbécil
holy fuck ya neckbeards going to war with a dead schizophrenic man need to touch grass right now
Imagine an alternate reality where Terry A Davis became a modern Elon Musk through his TempleOS monopoly, and Trump makes him head of Deparment of Code Efficiency (DOCE)
I like programming in CUDA. It's like having 2000 Commodore 64s.
Terry Davis is who Linus wishes he was
He said Unix not Linux
Haiku is pretty close to the TempleOS philosophy, except you can actually do stuff on it. It installs in less time than Windows takes to boot up!
15:53 "it's like russians" -> lookup linus's early life LOL
???
It reminds me of why I hate the infusion of elogind and consolekit and polkit and multi-seat and all that. I didn't need it for 20 years, and suddenly I couldn't live without it except by not updating anything any more. Also polkit (apparently) firmly depends on a javascript interpreter. Nope.
It's over for Lunux-cels
so he was right after all
Ask why the guild is not going for this when bt is talking through a mic
This is why terry is dead linus finded his house
Global pan, zoom, and drawing shapes in source is sooooo sick
The sound of his bargain bin keyboard. No fancy BS. Just the word of God.
"if you lean over on a motorcycle it crashes" I'll take a wild stab in the dark that Terry has never ridden a motorcycle before 😅
an idiot admires money a genius admires homelessness
My online shop uses 300KB of memory.

I really don’t like the microbes and dust particles in the air I breathe but I’m not gonna keel over and die lmao
@sincereflowers3218 he should've used his OS exclusively if it's so good.
@@crylune agreed but are you expecting rational behavior from a schizophrenic?
What other choice does he have? I heavily dislike 2d printers but I still use them.

@@roguetrader33 No I’m just making a joke. I am a Windows user
@@roguetrader33Can we stop pretending that just because someone has a mental illness they have an excuse to be rude? Fuck this dead fucked in the head POS. Simple. His insults to Linux users isn’t half as offensive as some other stuff he’s said.

@sincereflowers3218 you seem like a nice person to be around 😊
Will you code jockeys stop acting like this guy was some diamond in the rough. He is a nuts. Above average code understanding, but what did he do with it? TempleOS is garabge.
Terry was right about Linux. Windows and MacOS are designed to be user friendly, to be sold widespread, like cars. That's why most people are using those 2 operating systems, because they are cars. Linux is not that friendly, it's more specialized, more niche. That's why Linux PC usage is still 4%. You can make Linux more friendly however, by pushing what you want your users to use while hiding the rest away, that's the Steam Deck and Android phones and ChromeOS. But Linux in its entirety? Nah
The problem is a lot more complex now. Windows is to use Terry's language, Windows is now a passenger car that is not very functional. It's a Kia Soul now. A unreliable resource consuming low powered mess. Without any respect to it's user base as well. The ammount of horsepower to run a naked Windows installation is truly baffling. The spying and the non existent level of control is really bad in 11. Windows 11 has in excess of 80 million lines of code. MacOS is a OS that is good for users but is very limited as well. Very low control over it, mostly because of Apple's culture of 'We know better than you" Very limited software compatibility. Also has in excess of 80 million lines of code. Linux... is around 27 million lines. It's very complex compared to Temple, but it's also capable. Terry is very right that it was not made with the user in mind. This is why things like Mint exist. User friendly Linux is a oxymoron, but it has come a long ways. Things like the Steamdeck is a very good example of this. And unlike Windows and MacOS you have full control over the thing even to the point of bricking your OS. Linux user base is going to be increasing over the next ten years i think mostly because MS is shooting themselves in the foot and Apple lives in it's own world cut off from being considered for any real wide scale usage. While "User friendly" Linux distros are heavy by Linux standards (In b4 i use arch durr) they are still way lighter than Windows, and this heavier but fully user controlled Linux is going to be the future of that OS. The elite "I want to do anything without any GUI whatsoever and manually load every tiny package" crowd is going to give way to package managers that are 1 click. Being to do everything the average user wants to do without ever touching the Terminal should be the goal. The goal of never needing Sudo. The frustrating part of MacOS is it could be much wider spread but it's all down to how Apple wants people to control nothing. They could crush MS's hold on OSes if they even let up on their elitism a little bit. Wonder how Terry would view this brave new world were movement of the established order of OSes are now going to be challenged.
I literally understood Arch Linux and it was my first ever distro. Linux is not complicated and more user friendly than modern Winblows. Make like your channel handle and try it out
@@crylune Nah calling linux more user friendly than Windows is crazy. I don't care who you are, the need to dip into a terminal even once a month makes it less user friendly than windows or mac os.
@@matthewjohnson9746 go on and use Mint, see if you ever need the terminal. Mint is the definition of user friendly. Mint is install and use for me. In Windows I have to spend time to uninstall shit I don't need and remove all of Microshaft's telemetry and spyware. And uninstalling Edge outside of EEA requires, you guessed it, the command prompt! Windows' best tool, winget, is also requiring the command prompt. tell me what is so user friendly about 11's lack of UX? people legit have to install scripts to make a key part of the UI work as it used to. there are copy tools in Windows that are significantly better than explorer copy, which requires... the command prompt! at least admit that as time goes on, Windows becomes less and less user friendly and more and more bloated with Microshaft's AI slop. enjoy being the product
@@crylune what do you recomend a newbie to start with? I'm getting really sick of moneysoft and icucks. I just want a decent os
Linus was clearly a CIA Neighbor
Terry is right, there are millions of people in millions of professions, but only the ones that do something unique and new are considered genius and are remembered. You may do well following an existing trail, but you won't become a trailblazer and be immortalized.
Reading the comment section I never thought Linux users would carry out a war over their OS lol
Then you don’t know them very well!
akkktschualllly, it's GNU/Linux
i definitely thought thought that would happen, linux users arent far from being as maniacal as terry himself. They both think that their OS is a gateway to god. Difference however is, one of them made his os, while the others only drool over theirs
@@nrnjn8547 hang out in the wrong communities and you'll get people like that. people on EndeavourOS forums for example, an Arch based distro, are friendlier and more competent than any Windows community out there. no linux user that's mentally on earth treats their own OS like Terry treats his. we just use it because we are tired of Microsoft and there is no other real alternative on the desktop. and we don't bash people for using other things. generalisation is bad.
