I agree, Sides lost the script during the playoff. She miscalculates. Fever is better when they make more points than the opposition, not at stopping the opposition from doing points.
From watching the games... Give credit to the Suns defense. They ran faster and were phisical enough to stop the pace. In game two CC pushed the pace and worked but this also resulted in both she and KM gassed. A third consistent scorer was missing, AB helped in the end but was a bit late.

Every game I have seen Hull is a solid outside shooter who opens up another outside option that they need to guard, she is also going harder on defense and rebounds than anyone else on the team. She is Paxton on the Bulls to Clark as Magic Johnson on the Lakers. Like Johnson, Clark elevates the players around her, just my take.
There were several open 3s Lexie had where she ended up passing off to others. I love that she’s a great team player and works her butt off defensively and hustles for rebounds, but I wish she’d be a little more selfish offensively and take those shots.

There's no specific stat for that that I know of. I just calculate it as points + 2*assists. Unfortunately, there's no direct tracking of 2s vs 3s on assists, that I can find, so that's the best estimate I can make. Look at Caitlin floating up there like the Star of Christ. Beyond a generational talent. I just hope she gets a supporting cast and not a super team around her when it's championship time.
To all the CC haters, if she isn't that good why is she defended the length of the floor by one or more players? And she still finds a way to generate points, lol. She's making the haters look like the fools they are.
Let’s not act like no one else gets guarded full court. In this playoffs alone Ionescu and slow ass Chelsea Gray have been guarded full court every play. In Game 1 vs Liberty, A’ja Wilson was heavily guarded on 14 of her 16 field goal attempts which was the most of any player all season… Watch the games and be objective.
And yet she got swept in the opening round of the playoffs. Thomas had 26 assists. Clark 17. Thomas had 32 points. Clark 36. Total points go to Thomas when it counts. Defense matters.
If I were CC's teammate, I'd be doing loads of sprint intervals training in the off-season. They all need to raise their tempo, because you just know CC is bringing more intensity next year.
Does anyone really think things will be different next year?? In fact, Clark will be more at risk since she'll have to score more due to some of fever players will be traded to expansion teams. The more she has to drive the paint the more she'll be fouled and I bet once again refs will do nothing..
They’ll only lose one player to the expansion team and they can protect 6 players so it won’t be a big loss. If Mitchell wants to leave we can core her and not let her go or core and then trade her, filling out that loss. Players will have an offseason to work on their game, tailor fit to the new system. Either a new coaching staff or even the same one with knowledge of how this year went will make things different. We have a few bench players with non guaranteed contracts so either the draft or random pickups we should see some new pieces that fit the style we want to play. As for the physicality, we’ll see. Clark will have an offseason to work on her strength and overall game. There’s an outside chance that some progress will be made on the “let’s not recklessly damage the golden goose” front. Between all of that I do expect things to be better for the Fever and CC next year.
My impression is that her offensive skills were better at the start of the season before her injury run. She really lost confidence, and you could see that when she would have a good look and passed instead of taking the shot. I so wish these girls could work together at least some in the off season, let the group confidence rub off on Temi, Grace, Victaria, especially.
Pushing the tempo every night is easier said then done. It is physically exhausting. Getting beat up and hacked adds to that wear and tear. The fever get beat and bullied every night. On defense the fever play hard and over pursue. Anybody who has played any contact sport know how hard it is to play with your engine at max every game. Then being sore and beat up on top of that is even harder. They lose when they slow down. The team doesn't have the depth to play thecway the want to right now. The came in to the season built for a slower half court game built around Boston and cuts from Wheeler and Mitchel. Iso ball from the wings and post play from Boston with the occasional kick out to a back door cut. You don't need a lot of depth for that. However, with Clark coming in with immediate success they had to change their entire identity while using pieces that are just not built to play in the CC system. It is fair to say that they arrived well ahead of schedule. Right now the moment the handful of players capable of succeeding in this system stop for a breather the other teams build up point differentials that lead to close games and losses. With a better stretch 4 that can run the floor Smith is allowed to come off the bench for quality minutes. Samuelson is still physically getting into playing shape while dealing with newborn anxiety. Next year she will be better as we saw her getting better toward the end of the fever run. She may not be athletic enough for what they need but she is a quality bench player. In reality they need to rework contracts for the players at max that will be coming off the bench. However, the current max should be the median for a solid bench player and the max should be 350k plus incentive packages like the Aces are using. That should be the standard until the W can earn more for itself outside of CC.
You must be gaslighting me Mick! I was told by more than one very knowledgeable WNBA and college coach gurus that Caitlin was getting a reality check. That there is no way she can compete against these grown ass women. But in all seriousness all I am seeing is grown ass women that rely on their muscles and bullying to dominate. It is a shame that skill is not the far most characteristic in the "dub". To be honest I am ready to figure out how to watch the Euro League and hope that CC will find her way there.
Mick, Is it possible that if CC had been treated better thru the season - no on court/off court attacks which include verbal attacks, that when the Fever were eliminated the viewership would not have fallen off so much? In short, was CC's treatment lead to the fan viewership fall off?
Caitlin is NOT the best offensive player, she's also the most lovely Wnba player!, she turns up late to post conferances because she's too busy with her fans, signing everything!
This is why I laughed at the folks who gave A’ja the MVP trophy before game 1 of this season. Yes, she is good. Yes, she greatest a high PPG. But total points generated by or because of Caitlin absolutely eclipses her numbers. Caitlin came in and made the worst team in the league scary good. Enough to where it had to be the referees who ended their season. She makes EVERYONE around her just…better. She outRookied everyone who has had a rookie year. She IS why I watch.
She’s not even the best offensive player on her own team, in my opinion. That would be Kelsey Mitchell. Mitchell is more efficient, and she is a lot better at creating her own shot. She also never disappears in the 4th quarter as Clark often does.
WNBA Team Offense Rankings (1) Ace Points Scored Avg. 86.4 Points per 100 Poss. 105.0 (2) Liberty Points Scored Avg. 85.6 Points per 100 Poss. 104.9 (3) Fever Points Scored Avg. 85.0 Points per 100 Poss. 102.3 These people get on here and give opinion like it a fact, when stat don't backup half the thing they say, how does a team that 20/20 for the season, have a player that lead the league with 220 or more turnovers, who plays little to no defense , have the best offensive in the league, in order for your offensive to be better than someone else you have to be able to stop the other team, if you allow me to score every time you do , how is your offensive better
If you have the gas in the tank and winning motor driving you , never lift and wear the crowd out trying to keep pace. RIGHT! WNBA just proved that the Euro ranks and market are wide open for a dunk in mear months. Expansion, OH OH that will not be a smart move when this free agency trading starts swirling I see the sunny Riviera on days off for a select few women and I support them going IF they chose sport over politics when it comes to your job.
I love for vídeos, but some times you are totally wrong. Attack wins games, defense win titles. No team will get sucess if they don't know how to defend. Fever need to work a LOT on defense next season, or they risk getting to playoffs.
No team will ever win a title with a below average offense. A team with a historically great offense can outgun teams! However obviously a team with both will win more often
@@MickTalksHoops Ok. I understand your point. I don't see all that offensive potencial on Fever team. When the playoff arrived, KM just disappear, and we only got CC. I think we need a lot more quality. But hey, i'm a pessimist, and you know a lot more about this them me. Many thanks for your response. Keep up good work. Super fan from Portugal.
We can say CC is great but they got outplayed in the playoffs…they didn’t “slow” down because of Sides. CC got poked in the eye she was shooting 1-12 or something at the half. Same with Nash and the Suns, defensively sound teams can and will slow down fast pace teams. Even the championship Golden state years they were average defensively, not bottom of the barrel…so many games this season Fever would come back and tie or get close only to lose. CC is a rookie so she’ll figure it out, but they were clearly outplayed and they need better defense.
The X axis was offensive rating. So Caitlin is directly responsible for more points created than anyone else but not as the same rate as DT’s best seasons or A’ja’s 2024 season
She’s not that bad at defense lol. Didn’t she lead guards in blocks? She definitely gets lazy which I’m not sure I’d care too much as a coach just because of how much she gives on offense. But vs the suns, I thought she was just as good as Lexi and Kelsey.

Will be interesting as to how Hawkeyes play under Jensen. If she follows Bluder how will Lucy Olsen fit, she was top 5 scorer last season
The most valuable player in the league 👏 👏👏
To all the CC haters, if she isn't that good why is she defended the length of the floor by one or more players? And she still finds a way to generate points, lol. She's making the haters look like the fools they are.
Let’s not act like no one else gets guarded full court. In this playoffs alone Ionescu and slow ass Chelsea Gray have been guarded full court every play. In Game 1 vs Liberty, A’ja Wilson was heavily guarded on 14 of her 16 field goal attempts which was the most of any player all season… Watch the games and be objective.
In terms of defense, if the Fever hired Jim Boheim as a consultant to teach them his zone defense they would probably be unbeatable.
I think without CC's court awareness & vision, the Fever won't be in the Play Offs right now. They need CC to facilitate their offence.
It's was a great video
And yet she got swept in the opening round of the playoffs. Thomas had 26 assists. Clark 17. Thomas had 32 points. Clark 36.
Total points go to Thomas when it counts.
Defense matters.
If I were CC's teammate, I'd be doing loads of sprint intervals training in the off-season. They all need to raise their tempo, because you just know CC is bringing more intensity next year.
that and layup lines
Boston is a very good fit with Caitlin and Kelsey
Man I miss watching the fever already
Arike not being selected for Olympics still baffles me
Love Jxmys video
The NBA should stop paying alimony to the WNBA after they threw away the golden goose.
Can Temi improve her offensive skills and shooting accuracy or is it just it is what it is?
My impression is that her offensive skills were better at the start of the season before her injury run. She really lost confidence, and you could see that when she would have a good look and passed instead of taking the shot. I so wish these girls could work together at least some in the off season, let the group confidence rub off on Temi, Grace, Victaria, especially.
Fever needs to hire an ex Warriors or Pacers coach.
That should be the standard until the W can earn more for itself outside of CC.
what the hell is this guy talking about if they so unguardable but they are 20/20 for the season, this guy is straight crazy
74% of Mitchell's points were off assists this season…
83% of her 3pts!!! Now way sister was carrying the team in iso!
The true MVP......not that whining A'ja
Ironically she has the record of the most rookie signaturess and fans that love her!, beat that bitches!
My hoodie comes this week!!!
The Connecticut Minnesota series is garbage. Just give the New York liberty the championship trophy.
The X axis is 'offensive rating'.
She’s not even the best offensive player on her own team, in my opinion. That would be Kelsey Mitchell. Mitchell is more efficient, and she is a lot better at creating her own shot. She also never disappears in the 4th quarter as Clark often does.
It's pretty close her and Mitchell .
I truly hope Paige brings another element and Juju brings another element.
Because right now i'm having a hard time watching the semifinal games.
When are they gonna get rid of her as a head coach and make her an assistant coach?
WNBA Team Offense Rankings (1) Ace Points Scored Avg. 86.4 Points per 100 Poss. 105.0 (2) Liberty Points Scored Avg. 85.6 Points per 100 Poss. 104.9 (3) Fever Points Scored Avg. 85.0
Points per 100 Poss.
Where is Paul Westfall when you need him
Defense is the fever problem.
In similar news, water is wet!
Why is there a defensive player of the year and not offensive player of the year?
They won’t be if Dunn and sides is😢gone?? There bench is terrible
Nothing good comes from Caitlin Clark not having the ball in her hands. If the coach can't understand that then she has to go.
She has to go anyways. She can’t manage a game
What will the haters do now to try to discredit this info?
Turnovers, obviously. It's all they've got
The Connecticut Minnesota series is garbage. 10-10 after the first half. You guys don't know how bad you need CC.
The Connecticut Minnesota series is garbage. 12-10 after the first qtr. You guys don't know how bad you need CC.
Mick said it best months ago, what is mind blowing is that this is the worst she'll be.
"It's only because of her privilege" - Aja Wilson
"Privilege" put thousands of butts on seats
@@jacobmoses3712 💯 btw Aja Wilson went to private school from K -12
ugh they need a new coach.... seems like they're keeping Sides for another year.
Dude you are right about everything you have said.
The X axis was offensive rating. So Caitlin is directly responsible for more points created than anyone else but not as the same rate as DT’s best seasons or A’ja’s 2024 season
Sides is gone.
Dude, you injected 10 ads in this video. Please don’t do that. Like, never ever do that.
Mick have you ever been to a WNBA game ?
She’s not that bad at defense lol. Didn’t she lead guards in blocks? She definitely gets lazy which I’m not sure I’d care too much as a coach just because of how much she gives on offense. But vs the suns, I thought she was just as good as Lexi and Kelsey.
Hoping Kelsey Mitchell says she'll return only if Sides is gone.
How many commercials is too much?
What's Rick Adelman doing these days?
If kit had been an honest game #2 with honest refs the Fever might still be in the play offs. No one has said this but is plain as day the Fever was robbed but no one is say it. I say it ripped off by the refs and no one is is saying it. Something stinks and no one is talking about it.Uncalled fouls come on someone say it out loud.
So that gave it to A'ja.....we all know who the true MVP is.
CC is not the best offensive player we can start with the turn overs and then we can start with some more
I guess Sides won’t be getting fired cuz would we have heard it my now?
233 turnovers is far from best also-104
